  1. I'm 7 months post op, and have lost 98 pounds. I want so badly to hit that 100 pound mark, but I just cant seem to get there. I've been bouncing the same 2 pounds back and forth since early December. I know most of it was Christmas. I ate more than I should, and ate things I shouldn't have. But for the last 2 weeks I have really been back on track, and still nothing! I got down to 1 tenth away from my goal, then will gain a pound again. I went back to the basics, and started tracking all my food intake. I am staying between 900-1100 calories per day, drinking lots of Water, at least 80 grams of Protein per day, staying under my limits for carbs and sugar. I just don't know what I am doing wrong? I know my exercise specialist said this was to be expected at this stage, and it happens to everyone. He said you wont see a loss for awhile, but you are still losing inches. And it will cycle back and forth every month. He said to only worry if I don't see a loss for 2 months in a row. But I'm getting close to that 2 month mark, and still no loss. Any ideas on how to break a massive stall? Here's my food for the last 2 days, any advice? Breakfast: 2 envelopes sugar free hot cocoa 1 dannon light and fit greek yogurt Lunch: 1/2 cup raw carrots 1/4 cup raw snap peas 1/4 cup hummus Snack: Isopure Protein shake Dinner: 4 ritz crackers 2 tablespoons Peanut Butter 1/4 cup cottage cheese Totals: Calories: 927 Carbs 32 Fat 32 Protein 93 Sugar 30 Breakfast: Sugar free Cappuccino Tomato juice Dannon light and fit greek yogurt Snack: Isopure protein shake Lunch: Grilled shrimp greek olives and feta Dinner: Grilled Mahi Mahi cooked carrots and snow peas Calories: 959 Carbs 66 Fat 23 Protein 120 Sugar 40

    Havn't Lost In 2 Weeks :(

are you eating more calories than you burn off?? if you are losing (inches)...aka clothes getting big, then you are losing no matter what the scale says or doesnt say..dont live by what the scale says....follow your eating advisement (protein, veggies, fruit) and stop worrying about the scale...losing true weight is a process over time, the same as we gained it......stop thinking what you think you are doing wrong but think about what you are doing RIGHT...as it sounds as if you are doing fine.

What Should I Buy Before My Sleeve Date,

Crystal light or sweeten water with 0 cal. like Fruit2O I notice that I cannot drink regular water after surgery. I mean it doesn't taste right. but I still continue to drink my Fruit2O. I would suggest to find or buy small cups and small plates. right after the surgery I was able to drink only form expresso cups which contain only 2.5 oz. and I bought cup with measure inside so when I eat chicken broth I can put 1/4 cup. ( I cannot eat more) Also before surgery I bought isopure and wasn't able to drink 8 oz from 1 time. it has after taste. but after surgery isopure was my friend. it was the protein drink I was able to put inside myself. I ate tea spoon, I don't use the baby spoon. also has different spices at home. if you cook yourself the chicken broth will taste different if you will use different spices and you will not be tired from the same food.

    My story

Hello all.. Just came here to share my gastric sleeve story with the rest of you .. My name is Monica and I'm 23 years old. For as long as I can remember I have struggled with being overweight. At my heaviest (October-April of last year) i weighed 295lbs at 5'5. I had never been more miserable. It was in September 2011 I decided weight loss surgery was my only option. I attended the seminar and immediately new the sleeve was for me. It took six long months of jumping through hoops and doing everything insurance required of me before i finally had my surgery in April 2012. Today I am almost a year out and i weigh in at 188lbs. I have never been more happy or confident in my life! From a size 24 jeans to a 13. It's truly a blessing. I'd love to chat with all of you and make some sleeve friends. Feel free to shoot me a message sometime
  7. I finally started tracking my calorie and Protein intake and am under 500 calories a day. I'm ok on potion about 50-60 but I'm worried about the calories. I'm in phase 2 right now and hopefully tomorrow I will get the green light to go on solids. But I don't see how I can eat more then what I am as it is... Any suggestions? I'm luvin the varsity of protein powder products. ..do wat u can...
  9. I had surgery July 9th and it went very well. I stayed in the hospital three nights - they said I could leave after 2 but I wanted to stay one more. I was up and walking 1/2 hour after surgery and then every 2 hours after that. There was pain and I would compare it to a c- section. There are sometimes sharp pains sometimes just pulls other times it feels like its burning. But manageable - I had 1 what the hell did I do to myself moment in the hospital but it passed. I am getting my Protein and Water in and have a good schedule with the Vitamins. I think it's all about a schedule and doing your best to keep to it. food hasn't been any problem but I'm still on full liquids - Tuesday I start the third stage so we will see how that goes. I look forward to this journey and where it takes me. I'm hoping I can get clearance to go back to Zumba my exercise of choice!! If anyone is thinking about this surgery do your research and educate yourself. I interviewed three surgeons before deciding on mine. You have to have faith in them and have a support system. My sister had the sleeve so she can answer most of my questions and is a great help. Good luck!!!
  10. My surgery is Sept 11 and I have been on the pre-op for 10 days Mine consists of 3 - sugar-free carnation instant breakfast in 1% milk, plus 2 lean-cuisines each 300 calories or less and at least 17 grams of protein. Was really hard the first 3 days now I have to force myself to eat the whole meal. I have 16 oz carnation breakfast for breakfast and one I heat up the milk then add the carnation breakfast drink powder and have a hot cocoa before bed, taste pretty good. Good new I have lost 15 lbs! :lovechoc:
  11. Once per week during my loss phase and now in maintenance. No more, no less and I always log it in MFP as an accountability measure. I found it helped me stay focused on more important goals, (exercise, protein, etc) rather than being motivated by the scale alone. It also masks most "stalls" if you're only weighing once per week. I think I had a couple weeks I didn't lose but most weeks I'd lose at least a pound, (a loss is a loss)! So I never felt "stalled". It's kinda funny now when I get "likes" from my MFP friends for losing a pound as I bounce around in my maintenance zone. I'd go to once per month but I'm afraid I'll forget and get complacent. This way I know every Saturday, that's the routine.
  12. If any of you are having trouble getting your Protein or Fiber in please try adding Chia seeds to your smoothies or food. Great source of both protein and fiber. You can buy them anywhere. They don't have a taste at all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Unflavored Protein

I use PURE unflavored whey protein isolate from Bariatric Eating.

    Unflavored Protein

I am using Bob's Red Mill All Natural Whey Protein Concentrate. 12 oz cost about $14. A 1/4 cup has 15 g protein, 1 g carbs & 80 calories. I've been putting it in my Soups. Sometimes it clumps a little, but you can whip it in or something using the blender if you want...Just be prepared for it to get 'foamy'. I found mine at a local heath food store called Lassens. If you have any local health food stores, they likely have similar options.
  15. So my plan is to use the CIB no sugar added for most of my protein drinks however would like to know where people are getting the unflavored protein powder. I wouldn't mind getting some of that for like soup, tea, SH hot chocolate etc.. and according to my surgeon there is no such thing as too much protein for the 1st few weeks.. he said an extra 1/2 scoop of protein may hold you longer when your hungry rather then going looking for more. I have looked in Wamart, CVS, Walgreens etc but it all seems to be flavored. Just wonder if anyone found it in a store or just online.

    Help..Please answer if you can

I have not had that problem since the band (only a week) but I am a type 2 diabetic and the one time my blood sugar got into the 50s I felt like that. If the blood work did not show a problem what did the DR recommend. I would guess you are not getting enough protein or calories at night to carry you over till morning. I check my blood sugar before bed and as soon as I get up and it has been anywhere from 95-120. Good luck. Have the blood work results come back yet?

This is a new one for me..

Sorry to hear about the personal stuff going on. Never easy to deal with. That aside..I think the lack of appetite may be partially expected at this point in recovery. I say this because I also have hit this same thing...without all the stress that your dealing with. I saw my bariatric dr and RD and they both said that it was normal at the 8-10 month post op stage. They said that tastes have changed dramatically and things are beginning to go back to normal at that point. So it's just your bodies way of balancing out. I've had zero appetite for weeks now. It's been a challenge for sure. I went back to 2 shakes for Snacks and 3 small actual food chewing meals. My program wants us eating only 3 meals...any needed snacks need to be liquid...so I stick to that. But... My meals now are small for sure...maybe 4 ounces at the most. Greek yogurt with Protein low cal low carb granola mixed in for Breakfast....lunch maybe a few ounces of chicken breast with a few small pieces of fruit for lunch, dinner I'm not hungry at all...so then I usually will have some nuts with cheese. Or half an avocado with some protein. Hope some of this helps.
  18. Goodness, it just seems to have hit me that my days with a whole stomach are almost over! I start the prep diet on Thursday, have surgery the following Thursday. I really haven't done anything overboard. In fact, I have already been having a Protein shake for Breakfast and reasonable meals otherwise. Anyone have encouragement for staying reasonable for the next three days? A reminder that I won't always be on liquids or mushies? Please? LOL

    Stale

You will drive yourself nuts if you worry every time the scale doesn't move for a few days! Focus on what you can control - Protein, Water, walking - and the scale will take care of itself. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Kitchen appliances/gadgets

I have never used a blender post-op. Whipping air into your food/smoothies, shakes is exactly what you don't want post-op. It will make them thicker and harder to drink. The best tool is a kitchen scale with a tare option. I just replaced mine of 2 years with a new model. Other than that, lots of measuring spoons/cups. If you eat leftovers or have a job and need to take your lunch, lots of little/portion control plastic/glass containers.

    Need Help

If you're already scheduled for surgery then there's just the post-op life. Walk as soon as possible. Follow your doctor's instructions on eating, drinking and getting in your Protein post op. You will likely start on on Protein drinks. You can start sampling drinks now. Buy samples were you can. There are many options; powders that you mix yourself or premixed drinks. They come flavored or unflavored. shake or Water type products. Once you decide on a brand, don't buy more than 2 weeks supply. Some people experience changes in taste buds post-op and the stuff they liked pre-op they can't stand post-op.

    feeling guilty

I was banded in 2/28 and I have been ok with my hunger. I think my trick is I eat a little bit all day. Like for example today, I had a Protein shake on my way in to work, then at 9am I had a yogurt, then at 11:45 I had some chicken salad and a sugar free pudding, then at 2:30 I had another yogurt (carrot cake flavor, yum) and then at 3:45 I had another sugar free pudding. In between all that I was chugging Water. I have been sticking to that kind of eating pattern since surgery and I have lost 5lbs since surgery. Believe me I have wanted french fries and ice cream too, but I watch a lap band sugery on youtube.com yesterday and seeing the brutal things that were done inside me I have refrained from eating solid foods because it needs to heal. Try drinking more water or crystal light. I have seen this post many times on this site, so you are not alone. I have heard this is the time you have to white knuckle through it. Remember that tummy of yours was just put through hell and back so be nice to it. Good Luck!!

    Starting to get hungry

I've heard it can take a few fills to get to that 'sweet spot' where your hunger is managed well. I'm starting to get hungry too, but I've found that when I manage to really get my Protein in it helps a LOT. I got moved to pureed/mushies early so I've been experimenting with ways to get my protein in with food instead of powders. 1% Cottage cheese and fat free ricotta cheese, eggs, pureed Beans, pureed chicken and very soft-cooked fish (I can't bring myself to puree it, but I chew the heck out of it before swallowing) work well so far. I haven't had any trouble swallowing anything so far so it's kind of hard to believe there's anything around my stomach at all! But I haven't pushed it past about 1.5 cups of soft food at a sitting, because I'm afraid of hurting myself. I also take my time eating, which is hard, but seems to help. I am finding that I'm getting hungry sooner between meals, though, so maybe my pureed/mushy stuff is passing through faster than it was at the beginning? hrm. Just trying to stay busy and distracted and OUT of the kitchen! hehe I'm going to hit the gym tomorrow, I think, to start back to exercising slowly. I've been walking, but it's too hot here to do it any time other than WAY early in the morning.
  24. I'd try some protein for breakfast instead of the cheerios and if you can I would get your bloods done, you may be anemic and need iron. Best of luck, hope you feel better Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327AZ using BariatricPal mobile app

    Turned a corner

Today, for the first time since surgery, I woke up wanting something. For the last few days I’ve had to force down the water, protein and broth but today I look forward to it. I took a few sips and no pain from my new stomach. I want to gulp it all down but will not, I will just keep sipping for Now. [emoji1374] Thank God I finally can drink fluids again without pain [emoji1374] Have a great day! Amanda [emoji16] HW 248 CW 238 SW 231 Surgery Date: 11/21/2017. Goal weight 150’ish 🤞🏼
