I like cottage cheese with just paprika on it. Very tasty. Haven't tried Greek yogurt yet. I believe you make yogurt cheese with it. Line a small sieve with a coffee filter, plop in the yogurt, set the sieve over a bowl in the refrigerator, and let it drain for 24 hours. A clear liquid drains out and the yogurt is thicker. This only works on plain yogurt with no gelatin added.

Pre & Post surgery food
FatHannah replied to JumpRope's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor had me do each stage for a week or so... Clear liquids for the first few days, then full liquids, then smushies, then food. I would get some Sugar Free Jell-O and pudding. Yogurt, canned fruit (no grapes). Applesauce, broth, cream soups, puréed food (baby food), canned tuna. Various protein powders, low fat milk, sugar free Popsicles... Just some things I wanted on hand! :-) -

I went to a neighborhood block party. Everybody brought food! I remember wanting a meatball SO badly. I brought my own treat-- no sugar yogurt pureed with a little paw paw + Sweet N' Low. It was delicious. Still wanted that meatball. Just keep in mind what your end goal is and you'll be fine! -
I had a .2cc un-fill today. I’d love to hear about your un-fill story too. Here’s my story: For 3 months (since my last fill) I had been getting stuck easily, struggling to eat most foods, except for soft foods. I was eating a lot of protein shakes, Greek yogurt, plain oatmeal, mashed potatoes, frozen yogurt, and lots of “bites” of just about anything – even very bad things – because after all, it was just a bite, right (problem, I know). Even though I wasn’t eating much at a single sitting, I guess I was eating too much because I did not loose one pound in 3 months. Most of the time I was stuck or afraid to get stuck. Thankfully, no other symptoms of being too tight (no cough, no reflux, etc). I was always 1 of 3 things: Starving, Stuck, or full on liquids/soft. I was never: Full of food (satisfied), and could not go very long without being hungry again. I thought that was normal. But I was not loosing weight and was frustrated! But, today, my doctor suggested removing .2cc from the band. NOT what I was expecting! He said I’m eating too much and not enough: Too much slippery food, with too many calories; not enough solid food. I was nervous, and still a little concerned about what this is going to be like. I’m also cautiously optimistic. I had the un-fill at 12pm, but had not eaten anything all day, so I was really hungry (I always go to the doctor on a “fast,” incase they need to draw blood, do an ultrasound, etc.). After the un-fill I headed to Chipotle and devoured 2/3 of a chicken bowl. I have not eaten like that in months! It was soooo satisfying. Bad news, I consumed ¾ of my daily calories. Good news, I have not been hungry since then (9 hours ago!!!). Wow! I ate! I really ate and loved it (though was slow and careful about chewing), I got full (not stuck) and stopped eating, then stayed full all day! Amazing. I’m not sure what to expect and I’m worried about eating too much or being too hungry. However, I’m going to track on My Fitness Pal, and hope to be back on track. Has anyone had an un-fill and started loosing weight again???

This is my un-fill story, what's yours?

Daccop, I was banded in June and losing just fine (-30 in 3 months). Then I went into see the doctor and he was not there, so I saw a substitute doctor. He was an idiot and has since been fired. However, he told me to stop tracking my food (because that's real life and skinny people don't track their food) and get a fill. He filled me too tight and left me feeling miseralbe, but he convinced me that I was just fine and that is what banded life would be like. So, for the next 3 months I was getting stuck all of the time, not losing and thinking that was the way I would be for the rest of my life. I stopped going to the doctor for a few months because I was so embarased that I was not loosing weight. Then I went back in and they told me I just wasn't exercising enough. Which was true, but not the entire problem. Even with moderate exercise I was not losing weight because I was eating way too many sliders which were too high in calorie or carbs (frozen yogurt, oatmeal, extra mayo on tuna so it would go down, etc). So, I lost 30 pounds in the first 3 months and 3 pounds in the second 3 months. I kind of feel like a fat, fat, fat failure. But, I think things will get better. I'm tracking again and making much smarter choices. Also, with the holidays behind me, I feel ready to take on the next 3 months! -
I do eat meat, but find salads a treat because I don't have trouble getting them down. I make variations on a chicken Caesar salad with chicken breast cut up, hardboiled egg cut up, Parmesan cheese, Romaine, light Caesar dressing, and fat free croutons. Getting your Protein will be more of a challenge, unless you plan to eat dairy, such as cheese, yogurt and the like. Beans are a good source of protein, and if you like Mexican, refried beans could be your new "meat". I would certainly try anything to relieve the RA pain so that you don't have to take so many drugs. I have OA in my knees, but I hardly need any pain medicine now. I can't remember the last time I took it. I do use glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM, and I take fish oil (I found it in a liquid--one tblsp gives about 1600 Omega 3's--I use Twin Labs Emulsified Fish Oil--it is mint flavored--just one tblsp a day). Good luck on your journey.

Breakfast- coffee and oatmeal Lunch- Weight Watchers Smart One or chicken salad Dinner- Protein and veggie Snack- Weight Watchers string cheese or banana or yogurt Water all day

I eat a container of Oikos Greek yogurt every morning and once in awhile during the day. I put a couple of TBLS of DiVinci syrup in it and add a few soynuts for added protein and variety. Our Walmart (65 miles away) only carries the vanilla and plain. I always buy the plain. Also good with SF jam. It's good plain on chili or a topping on veggies.

Is this normal?
MississippiGirl replied to Bobbie0918's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is very difficult for me to get solids down in the A.M. I usually am running late and don't have time to fix a meal so I drink those small activia yogurt drinks in the morning. Sometimes it takes me over an hour to get it down. -

3+ month post op and eating in the morning
fourmonthspreop posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey! I was curious if anyone is experiencing this or has experienced this in the past. I'm a little over 3 months post op and as I transition more into regular eating, I find that I CANNOT eat in the mornings to early afternoon. Like my body can't physically handle food until around 2pm. If I eat something before then it gets "stuck" or I get the slimeee and need to puke. Doesn't matter what it is, I try eggs, protein yogurt, beans, cheese, veggies, fruit, all of it gets stuck and I get nauseous for an hour or so. This has been a recent development...maybe the past month this has started. It's not a stricture because past 2 I have no issues regardless of what the food is and don't feel my restriction at night but I do get nauseous if I overdo it. So far I just drink a protein shake in the morning or just a coffee or water and then two meals past 2pm to get my calories and protein in. Idk it's so weird. Wondering why the restriction is so extreme in the morning. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -
You do 2 days clear liquid diet; I did Water, broth and Jello for the first two days Day 3-2 weeks (whenever the doctor clear you is full liquids) I did: Protein shakes pudding with protein Soups Yogurt Jello Water Hoping dr li clears me to move on to soft mushy foods today. I am so bored of stage 2 diet!

8 weeks out and it seems to take more than 5 oz
RickM replied to BQT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Foods like yogurt are pretty slippery and soft, so you usually don't feel the restriction or satiety with them that you do with something more solid like meat or cheese, so it is quite normal that you can eat more yogurt than the nominal 2-3 ounces that is often stated. I could likewise go through a normal 5-6 oz yogurt serving at that time, though I usually just kept it to 4 oz as that was adequately satisfying for me, and provided enough protein for that particular meal/snack (though by that time I was also throwing in a few berries for added nutrition and variety.) -
I made a pb smoothie with yogurt, milk, ice, pb and banana!!! Yummy!!

What to do after my sleeve has failed.
Oregondaisy replied to Mamasitaks's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You should be able to have a scope done to see what size your sleeve is. I agree with CGJ. You need another opinion. Research who is available to you and ask for a consult. DS should be your last resort. There has to be a reason you don't feel full on a small amount of food with a sleeve. I am 5 years out and I still can't finish any meal I try to eat, like steak and veggies. If I eat 3 oz of steak, I might be able to eat one pc of broccoli . Are you eating dense Protein or sliders like yogurt? -
I Can't Figure Out What The Correct Balance Is...
Ms skinniness replied to Crystal Woods's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing great! Your only 2 weeks out and this is a time to coddle your stomach. I was doing soups, Protein drinks, yogurt, pudding sf, until 3 weeks out. I could hardly eat anything. I don't drink fluids with my meals. I follow the rule of 30/30. 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after. Take it one day at a time. Oh, btw, protein drinks count as liquids at this point in your recovery. Are you on a PPI? You could be experiencing hunger when it's actually acid or gas in your stomach. A PPI is omeprazole, nexium, tums, etc. If in doubt call your surgeon's office for a prescription. GOOD JOB and CONGRATS on your success! -
I'm 7 weeks out and doing well. I feel like myself, but the first 4 weeks the meal plans were out of the ordinary, I found I hardly had any hunger but I made sure to meet my requirements for liquid intake and protein. I'm on regular food now and although I can't eat much, I can eat about 1/2 to 1 cup of food which allows a piece of meat, fish or chicken, salad, fruit, veggies, maybe a little low carb treat, a few whole wheat crackers with tuna or chicken salad, cheeses, lunchmeat, yogurt...and I feel so much better over 60 lbs lighter including pre-op weight loss! You can so do this!

I started doing this too! I mixed strawberry crystal light powder into my plain yogurt. Have y'all tried making your own yogurt? I found a tutorial online that just uses a crockpot. It is very simple and all it requires is milk, plain yogurt (as a starter), a crockpot, fine mesh strainer(if you want to make Greek yogurt), cheese cloth (or coffee filters) and time. It makes a half gallon of plain yogurt for less than $5. Here's the link: http://amandathevirtuouswife.blogspot.com/2011/08/homemade-yogurt-with-crock-pot.html

No restriction 4 days out
lisacaron replied to boymom2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are very hungry because you are not eating much at all if you are only having 2 Tbsp of jello. Pudding is not a bad choice if you make the sugar free and fat free pudding. You can get them in any store sugar free and make them with non fat milk. They are a good choice but a Greek yogurt is better. The Protein will help to keep you fuller and not have so much hunger. Think about spreading out your shakes and pudding or yogurt so you are having something every few hours to start and in between sipping Water. -
Allergic to Nutrasweet, Splenda AND stevia
BLERDgirl replied to MarieR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone that has as many allergies as me! So far scuralose hasn't bothered me. But it's splenda so I don't want to push it. I also can't have articial dyes and food colorings, particularly red dyes. I balanced it out with Greek yogurt which I happen to love. FAGE 0 %. 4 ounces is 12grams of Protein and you could add honey to it to sweeten it or add a bit of milk and blend it to thin it out. It doesn't cook up well though. I was sent home on full liquids though so I made Soups with Beans and yogurt. I cooked them together, then pureed them, then put them back on the stove to reheat and thinned it out with low sodium veg broth. I went from full liquids to puree to soft so I was able to work around it. I also used Orgain organics. It's sweetened with brown rice syrup premade shakes. I liked adding this to my morning coffee. I even made a Soup with the vanilla flavor, but I added a load of garlic to mask the vanilla taste. -
I am hoping someone can shed some light and help me. I was banded on 10/6/09. I was 247lbs on my surgery date. I have lost a total of 20lbs since surgery date. That means I am almost 6months out and have lost 20lbs in 6months. My band holds 10cc's. I am up to 7.25 but even still I eat atleast 2 cups of food. That scares me because I am almost at the max and if I max...what do I do then? I am so depressed. I am trying so hard. Since my weight loss has been so slow I figured I would start calorie counting...thinking that was my problem. I have been consuming about 1200-1400 calories a day from food not obtained thru a fast food window. Food Examples: I eat breakfast (bagel thin with 2 eggs and a string cheese). A morning snack 4 wheat thin garlic and parsely crackers with laughing cow cheese and 4-5 small strawberries...lunch a lean cuisine with cucumbers (1/2 cup) with about 5 croutons and 1tbsp of Italian Dressing on it....afternoon snack banana with a Super Whey Protein shot....dinner 6-7 grilled shrimp with cucumber salad (above) and yogurt for dessert. Before surgery I was taking about 3000 steps a day.....I am now walking about 13,000 by the bedtime...I bought a pedometer (a good one :-)....Am I missing something in the middle? I am so lost at this point. Even without more saline you would think I would be losing off pure cutting calories and walking. What gives? I need help...I am crying as I type this because I feel like I am failing, failing myself, my children, my husband. Worst of all my 5yr old son was at the dinner table last night and said...My friends liked you on our field trip, they said you were really nice and you have a big fat belly. He had no clue that it hurt me to the core because he is so little but I went into my room and fell to my knees. God help me.

How soon after surgery did you travel?
Vicki0618 replied to dansgem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I flew from CA to CO for my sisters wedding exactly 2 weeks after surgery. I felt fine, no problems physically. I was staying with my sister and she was nice enough to have my protein shakes, cottage cheese, and yogurt on hand for me....which really helped. The only problem I had was I got a little dehydrated a couple of days because we were busy and I "forgot" I had to drink. You should be fine!! -
Post op liquid diet
mcipanda replied to justsillyme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m having surgery on 3/13 and just discussed this with my nutritionist. On my plan, “Clear” liquids is anything you can see through (Water, ice, broth, Gatorade zero, sugar free jello, even diluted apple juice). After the first few days, I’m able to move up to “full” liquids like protein shakes, thinned yogurt, strained soups (no bits at all). Definitely check with your provider on this because everyone seems to have different requirements 😊 -
Hi! I was banded 4/20 and would love to have some friends to share the journey. I'm in Oklahoma City. I get liquids only for the 1st 2 weeks and then get to start adding yogurt, oatmeal, etc. My issue is feeling nauseated after "eating" and being tired all the time.
