I am in complete shock and disbelief! This morning I headed to the track for my ususal exercise - walk and jog a total of 2 or 3 miles. Lately I've been jogging one lap non-stop then walking with a little bit of jogging mixed in when I felt I could do it. Well, this morning when I got to the track I started jogging right off the bat. I was just finishing my lap and I decided to keep going, next lap same thing, then again and again. In total I jogged 1 mile (4 laps) non-stop!!! Then I continued to walk another 2 & 1/2 miles. Never in my life have I jogged a mile! I feel amazing knowing that I am getting stronger; my heart is stronger, my lungs are stronger, my muscles are stronger, and my determination and belief in myself is stronger than ever! I can't believe I did it! And I can't wait to do it again tomorrow!

I normally do not tell people what size clothes I wore prior to my journey beginning due to being embarrassed. I should never have let myself get to that size - I guess it is what it is. I know everyone here has gone through the same things so I feel comfortable telling all you great people. I started out in a size 28 pants, 4X tops . I bought a pair of capri's to act as inspiration for me for after surgery. Size 20. I can tell you that today I am wearing those capri's to work. They are a little tight around my panni but other than that, they fit and I even have room around the waist. These are NON-STRETCHY capri's too. I am pretty darn proud of myself. Has any one else had a Pre-surgery NSV? Sheila

Like most women, I have a range of sizes taking up space in the closet. Today I started going through clothes I haven't been able to wear in years. I was amazed at how many of them fit! Some of them I am sad to say I've nearly missed out on because they are basically already too big on me. Even my smallest clothes are oh so close to being publicly wearable. I can't believe it! When I look at myself in the mirror I can't really see much of a difference, but fitting into these clothes made it real to me. I really am losing this weight! I want to jump up and down!

Well I think I've just had the most mind blowing NSV yet (and I've had a lot of them!) When I started this journey a year ago, I wore a size 46. I had to special order all my clothes online because I couldn't find clothes big enough to fit me in stores, not even the plus size stores. I gave up wearing blue jeans decades ago. Today, for the first time in 20 years, I am wearing size 18 jeans. I SO love my band!!! (below is my happy dance!)
-
My thoughts are you are going to feel so good in a yr from now...It takes work...the band is just a tool that we have control of...but I works !!! There will be so many small and large non scale victories (NSV) along the way...rejoice in all of them !!! Good luck hun....Im excited for you !

First Ever Nsv Only 6 Days Out From Surgery!
mylifeinpink posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am so so so happy and blessed to report that my feet do not hurt anymore at all! I had such bad edema and plantar facitis, I was seeing a physical therapist 2 days a week for the pain! Pain is GONE! 21lbs down, and I am feeling very good about my surgery! I have a slight feeling that this is going to be the very best investment I have ever made in myself! -
Had yearly blood work done and got the results back from my doc today. Total Cholesterol-down 28 mg HDL Cholesterol (Good stuff)-up 7 mg LDL Cholesterol (Bad stuff)-down 30 mg Triglycerides-down 65 mg And a little note from the doctor saying "Inspiring! Great!" Last year at this time, my levels were high enough she wanted to put me on medication to treat it. I didn't do it....I know stubborn. Did NOT want to be on more meds. Needless to say, this help boost my spirits today. Praise God!

One-derland And Nsv - What A Great Weekend!
susnl posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So, this morning (my official weekly weigh-in) the scale said 199.4. Wow, it's amazing to see that in print. This is such an amazing journey. And... over the weekend, I took my son to Disney World. I was able to easily fit AND get out of all the rides. At the end of each day, I still had energy to burn. This was so much different from times before when I could barely make it back to the hotel. The best NSV was at the playground at the Animal Kingdom. I climbed right up the nets and across the rope bridges. I would have never done this before. Then I went right down the enclosed curly slides and I fit NO PROBLEM. But, the absolute best NSV happened when I got to the bottom of the slide. A women who was waiting on her child at the bottom of the slide said "Oh, you are such a good mom climbing up and going through those things." I just wanted to tell her that she didn't know the half of it. I just wanted to blurt my whole story out but I just smiled and nodded. I was just so happy to be able to do it. -

I got home from work yesterday absolutely exhausted, fell into bed for a nap and clearly there was something poking me in the belly/chest. i roll over to remove whatever it is and there is nothing there. WTF? clearly something is poking me there! finally figure out it is my rib cage protruding out. how do i fix that? does this go away? fortunately it only happens on the right side as it sticks out slightly more than the left. I suppose i am happy about it. going along with this, sleeping on my side has become increasingly difficult because my legs have become so bony that they don't easily lie on each other without a presure point. I will adjust, but i did not expect this.

Howdy! School and 4H has kept me so busy - I have to try and remind myself to post here once in awhile! I am so glad to be posting on the "success Stories" forum.... Want to hear of a great NSV (nonscale victory!)? - kids went on a canoe and kayak event with 4H, my eldest didn't have a partner...so I did it! I climbed in both a canoe and kayak - and didn't drown us! I paddled and had a blast! I NEVER would have attempted that at 300 pounds!!! I am continuing to slowly lose weight - I still weigh every morning, and I really shouldn't. I know the long tern will be in a down direction!! I desperatly need to go clothes shopping - my panties are baggy ooops - sorry if TMI! I feel better overall, still struggle to drink what I should.....it's hard. Hope all is well with my other sleeve buddies!!

Welcome to the forum. You will have amazing non-surgical victories as you go. We call them "NSV's"......things like being able to trim your own toenails, tie your own shoes, run for the first time in years, or getting into a lower size that you haven't seen since you were 20. Keep in touch and visit us often. Congratulations for taking control of your health and happiness.

Proud, Embarrassed Or Horrified?
wishes replied to Queen of Crop's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Proud. I experience more days where I am just embarrassed, but every time I have an NSV I know that I am proud of my decision to make my life and health better one day at a time. I wouldn't appreciate what I have if I didn't see the rock bottom first. -
The guy that does our cleaning in our office is a really sweet Latino. His English is very broken and most of the time I can't understand what he says. Every Friday he comes through and says "it's Friday, yay". We just adore him. Yesterday I was sitting in the break room and he comes in and sits down. He said "where did your stomach go?" LOL. That made me feel so good. Someone is noticing!!!

I experienced an NSV today. I was walking in the store and saw this really cute thin woman in the mirror. I thought to myself, what an attractive woman. I then realized it was me!!! Love it!! I still don't recognize my reflection sometimes!!
