    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

I found if I did not get my protein and water in I stalled. I genepro feom Amazon, GNC has it as well. It is a small amount of powder for 30gm of protein. I add it to my water with some crystal light or MIO. Can get 60 to 90gm in easily while also getting your water in.

Honest truth about genepro protein powder

It sounds like you're doing pretty well with the GENEPRO. I've read so many good reviews on it that I decided to go ahead and purchase a couple of sample packets so I can give it a try. Hearing good results like yours really makes me hope it works well for me. I'd like to have one Protein supplement that will work in most anything I want to put it in. May I ask....what kinds of problems are you having with meat? I haven't had my surgery yet, and it hadn't occurred to me that there could be problems with eating meat afterward. I've always been a meat and potatoes person who eats meat with every meal.

    November 2020 sleevers

I know there seems to be a lot of controversy about the brand, but it was what my nutritionist recommended... I got a sample (on my own) pre-surgery, and it was great as far as not being able to taste it, so... I use Genepro. Pre-surgery, I tried it in some yogurt, and in just plain water. Couldn't detect it in the yogurt at all, and could only marginally in the water (it might be undetectable if I added some Mio or something...) The Premier Protein is just all gross to me now, though I still slog through because I don't want to waste the ones I have.
  5. Are Genepro and Genpro the same or different products? I just got Genepro from Bariatric Pro Store, a 60 count amount.🍯

@@tacycakes I don't think the Catheter is as much pain as it is this weird sensation. (I've had two c-sections). I'm 5'4 started at 303lbs in May. I'm at 286.4 now did a semi liquid diet last week with maybe a total of four solid meals last week. Tomorrow is the start of my official pre-op liquid diet. I used this week to see what protein drinks worked bet for me. but I also ordered the genepro. This a vegan protein meal replacement made from sprouted brown rice and others. If you let it sit for a bit it gets this gloopy cream of wheat consistency which I actually prefer. My surgery is on Columbus Day, the 13th. So close. I have average anxiety. I just feel like I need to have everything cleaned up before it. I've been quite fatalistic as of late.

@@Kiba - one thing to consider as you experiment with your diet - you mentioned that GENEPRO is your main Protein source. I've done some digging on GenePro and I'm concerned that they may be overstating the amount of protein in their product. If this is true, you may actually be far under your protein goals. It might be worth mixing it up with different protein sources to see if this helps your loss. See here for some more discussion on GenePro: http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/320744-Honest-truth-about-genepro-protein-powder/page__view__findpost__p__4268546 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I make a crustless quiche that I eat everyday. You can change up the flavor profile by what you add. My favorite is bacon, swiss, green onion, roasted red peppers and mushrooms. 5 eggs 1 C cottage cheese Any cheese, veggies, seasoning or meat you want to add. I also add 1 or 2 scoops GENEPRO to up the Protein. Just whip together and pour into a greased pie pan. Bake at 400 F for about 30 - 35 minutes. Makes 6 good size portions.

Honest truth about genepro protein powder

Has anyone actually had blood work done to check their Protein levels since starting on GENEPRO? I mean lab results from your own doctor that show it works as they claim it does? I'm interested, but their claims sound too good to be true. I don't want to take it thinking I'm getting the protein my body needs after bypass surgery and then find out it's all a sham. But I haven't seen one review yet that's supported by factual evidence of protein levels in the body after taking the product for any length of time. Have you had any other noticeable results (or problems) since you started taking Genepro?

    What protein shakes are preferred?

I'm with the consensus here, I like the Premier Protein. chocolate is my favorite and I add SF Torani syrup to mix it up. Peppermint, Raspberry, Peanut Butter, Salted caramel. The possibilities are endless. I also use the vanilla in my coffee in the morning. GENEPRO unflavored is good as well. I put it in my Soup when I was on the liquid diet and sometimes when I need to get a little more in for the day add it to juice, smoothies, or flavored Water. I bought several flavors of the Muscle Milk at my health food store and had to toss them all. Yuck!

  17. I had a similar concern but what's working right now is Genepro protein powder for supplementation. Its a tiny scoop that dissolves a really easily in a half of a cup of liquid. So I do one scoop of protein powder which is 30 grams of protein in a half a cup of Fairlife milk. Then I add instant decaf coffee and whatever flavor I want. I have that for breakfast then I usually have another one as a snack in the afternoon. After my breakfast I'll have a bite or two of food maybe refried beans or tuna if I can tolerate it but I will have actual food for lunch and dinner. I've used the ricotta bites, refried beans, and tuna so far. I may try adding a couple of other foods this weekend. I hope you find something that works for you!
  18. Hi everyone, I just had my gastric bypass done on 5/30/2018 (last Wednesday). I am on stage 2 diet and it's a lot of liquids. I am also vegetarian, so it's hard to get my protein in. I like Genepro and I was wondering if I could add it to No sugar added "light start" instant breakfast. In my handbook from the hospital it says "sugar free" instant breakfast. I'm just so confused if the "no sugar added" and the "sugar free" are the same. It has 60 calories per packet and 7g sugar. I'd mix it with almond milk. Is it okay to drink? Thanks everyone. I'm new to this site, so i hope I'm doing this correctly! ps- Any vegetarians on here? What ways do you get protein in?

    Clear liquids

Mine is Tuesday, Aug 1 also. I started mine on Thursday. Had an awful headache all day. Not use to a lot of sweats and although they don't taste bad, 3 Premier Protein shakes a day was too much, Broth was good. I used home-canned turkey-vegetable broth. You can flavor up plain broth with spices. Since I am only required to do liquid only on Monday, chicken breast just to eat I received my genepro 2 I ordered and tried with my broth. For me, it worked just as claimed (maybe a slight tinge of smell) but it did dissolve completely in broth when prepared as directed first. Made the liquid diet easy now. I've done fine with not eating. Knowing this is just temporary and I will eat again is not a problem. I cook for my family and no temptation. Just have to remember NOT to taste out of habit. I did have an hour last night when I suddenly became extremely nervous and questioning if I was doing the right thing, but I got on here and read and calmed myself. I'm excited and scared(a little) but, it this is for my health. Praying for no complications because I am a self-pay with no coverage for complications.

    low bmi still obese

I ordered directly from their website but I see Amazon has it in stock again. http://smile.amazon.com/Musclegen-Research-Genepro-Genetic-Tri-Protein/dp/B00K6OSDYA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424358840&sr=8-1&keywords=genepro+unflavored+Protein I started with a couple sample packs and that's how I knew I was ok with it. Hoping i can still handle it post-op. I am going in for surgery on Tuesday, March 3rd in Mexico. I think that's the part I'm most nervous about, and the day of travel home. I am going with a girlfriend who had the surgery two years ago and I feel like if she can do it, so can I. I'm a trooper!
  22. Syntrax nectar, Isopure, and GENEPRO are my best friends. I just started puréed food yesterday and was able to get most of my Protein from food. For bkfst I made a green strawberry & spinach smoothie with coconut Water and a scoop of Genepro. Each scoop is only a tbsp and 30g protein. You can add it into anything, it's great. A lot of times I add it to unsweetened applesauce. Then for a mid-morning snack I used a Hillshire Snacking pack (grilled chicken bites) and puréed the chicken with the honey mustard dipping sauce. Each pack is 15g protein and 120 cal. It was delicious. lunch was a pack of lemon pepper tuna mixed with a couple tsp mayo, puréed. That was only about 123 cal and 18g protein. And dinner I puréed some grilled chicken and hummus, with a couple of pitted kalamata olives thrown in. That was about 200 cal and 20g protein. In between all of that I drink as much water or Syntrax Nectar (if I need protein) as I can. Some days I don't hit 64 oz but I try to get as close as possible. Syntrax makes it easier to hit liquid and protein simultaneously. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    December 2018 Sleevers!

NuMe2 you are so rigtht about varying calories to break stalls! I too was at a stall for many weeks but when I eat a little more and bring my calorie count up I seem to lose weight! For instance - yesterday my daughter brought home for pizza for dinner and even though I know it's a big "no, no" per carbs, sodium processing and such I went ahead and indulged in a slice and it upped my daily calorie count to 1120. I woke up this morning with a loss! I always make sure I get the minimum of 64 oz especially since I had a Shoulder Surgery this month on Feb 12th and am on pain pills as I got to make sure I don't bind up because well many of you know that although Milk of Magnesium does a great job of breaking the dam open withing a matter of hours it is still very messy. So I noticed that if I dip my calories up once in awhile it makes a difference. I vary between 800 to 1200 daily. I always, always make sure I get my minimum protein of 70 grams and am taking all of my vitamin and supplements daily. I use Bariatric Advantage HP meal replacement , Premier protein shakes and sometimes Genepro protein powder in yogurt to meet these needs. I worry about getting all the supplements and especially since having 2 surgeries in 3 months and worried about hair loss. I have also noticed that my skin is super super dry but and I am still trying to figure our that battle! If I don't feel like cooking and want something fast have been buying the Smartmade frozen dinners from Walmart such as turkey, and roasted vegetables as this is low carb and high protein, RealGood also makes a chicken crusted pizza that is also low carb high protein. I also like the Lean Cuisine herb roasted chicken but this one only has 16 protein where the others are higher carb. So these types of things help me out a bunch and in a pinch. I also still eat a lot of beans, LOL! (need that fiber). Some days I can eat more then others and other days I just can't put much in and it is so weird how it all works like that. Just this morning upon waking it was a little more difficult swallowing water then most. I think this surgery just put's you on a see-saw like that and after reading so many post in this forum I am comforted by the fact that it is not unusual and so I do not stress it anymore. I have yet to throw anything up but have eaten too fast, too much and had the sweats, chest pains and miserable feeling of needing to. Like many some days I question whether my stomach was really resized and then others I definitely know there is a restriction. I still fight head hunger and bad habits but have made great improvement here. I have been to a restaurant and ordered a full meal and then find that I barely make a dent in it too the point the waitress asked me if there was something wrong with my food, LOL and felt like "wow that was a waste of money - what am I doing!" I am so looking forward to the day of eating Salads and raw vegetables which for me is not until 6 months post op per doctors orders! So because of 2nd surgery and having my arm in a sling it has slowed me way down in exercising. I am doing my best to try and walk 30 minutes daily but when I have a bunch of doctor appointments in a day and everything takes me forever to do it falls by the wayside. I like most worry about loose skin and wish I could start some weight training but all of that is on hold for now. Once my energy levels get back up I need to figure out how to work strength training in. I just know that it will make all the world of difference. I am so grateful for this forum and you guys sharing your stories and struggles as this has helped me so much! Well guys that is my journey thus far from having a hiatal hernia repair and gastric sleeve surgery December 26, 2018. Shoulder surgery February 12, 2019 to repair a rotator cuff, SLAP and Labral tear.
  24. Maybe find a new doctor? A different surgeon for better advice. I think your doctor is trying to force you to lose more weight with such an extended post-op diet... maybe he sensed a lack of total self control? Eating bacon, Cereal, and milk is certainly more than your stomach can handle right now. All doctors will agree on that. Your stomach is not producing the necessary enzymes and acids to break down such rich food, and you can damage your new stomach. Everyone makes mistakes, but it's important to understand why they are mistakes and learn from them. Harshness isn't going to help you to do that, instead you'll lash out and defend your mistakes, which is not the right reaction either. That being said, at least you didn't do anything more drastic. If you're feeling weak, it's time to start experimenting with different Protein sources. They'll help and be within your dietary restrictions. GENEPRO, unjury, premier, etc etc Lots of different protein powders and shakes, there's something to suit everyone's taste! I can't handle thick textures and overly sweet either, so I love genepro because it just adds a milky taste to anything I mix it with.
  25. I tried to emulate what I buy at the juice bar in LA Fitness Gym. Didn't work out well. It tasted good, but turned into a drink, more than a shake/smoothie. I need some ideas on how to "fluff" it up or other input. The PB and or cocoa powder powder also ended up "bubbling" at the top even after mixing. Ice also just disappeared as soon as I used the immersion blender on low. My chocolate PB "drink" 2 tbsp choc PB2 1 tbsp Ghirardelli cocoa 1 scoop GENEPRO Protein Powder flavorless (not the think bully whey type powder, this is "miconized" 8oz fat free milk, 3/4 cup ice cubes from machine 1 tbsp pure maple Syrup (too bitter without) 261 cal, 35g carb (28g sugar, 12 from milk) 3g fat, 43g Protein. Less PB2 powder? Less cocoa powder? More ice ratio? Thicker milk (fattier?) Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app
