Help! 3 weeks out and I've stopped losing weight
julienick77 replied to TynMcsMom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi! I'm 8 weeks out and had a three week stall during weeks 4,5,6. Stick with the rules. I upped my food intake and watched carbs and finally the scale moved and I've lost 6 more pounds in last 2 weeks for a total of 36. Sometimes your body just stops to take a breath. -
I regret this surgery
Kasparkles replied to QueenTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 8/3. I've hit the three week stall and definitely understand your general frustrations. Yesterday I had anxiety attack out of nowhere. Couldn't breathe, felt like crying. My patience is very thin. The heat is seriously effecting me, and I'm totally weak. Even taking my vitamins and hitting protein. I want to get back to exercising but I know I don't have the stamina for much right now . I'm sure it will get better, but wanted to share so you don't feel alone. I guess this hormone thing is for real. Hang in there. -
@@Mbain - embrace the stall - search thru BP for stall especially the infamous three week stall. YOU WILL STALL, it happens, breathe....

Stalls immediately after surgery
FrankyG replied to Losing_it_for_me_42's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stalls can happen any time. You should count yourself lucky you actually lost any weight instead of gaining the first week after surgery - many folks experience weight gain from the fluids and meds they use during surgery and may not see an actual loss until 2-3 weeks out. And there is the often discussed three week stall - which can happen at week 2 or week 4 or 5... Your body will not work exactly the same as someone else's body. But just know that you will start losing again unless you go nuts and start eating bad for you foods or not following your overall diet/exercise plan. Your job is to keep track of your food/liquid intake and make sure you're getting your Protein, Water and other nutrients and slowly adding in exercise over the next year. You need to throw out your old way of eating and the foods you used to eat and relearn healthy eating habits and foods and what is a good mix of Proteins, fats and carbs. If you do all of this, your body will do what it needs to do to lose that weight. So deep breath, keep doing all the right things, and trust your body to do it's thing. -
Why can't I lose weight after 3 weeks post-op!

Soft Foods and Now I'm gaining:
Arabesque replied to Monique1123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We call it the three week stall but it can happen before or after that point. It’s just your body taking a breath & playing catch up. It’s been going through a lot - surgery, change of diet, reduced caloric intake, etc. You’ll likely experience other stalls too as you progress. Stick to your plan & you’ll start to lose again. It may take a week or 2 or 3 or so. But you will happen. I like Dr Weiner’s videos. Hope this one helps you. (The question is a little long but the answer is great.) Good luck. -
Feeling hungry all the time...
Bufflehead replied to ashleyrowles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
agree with @@M579 -- "empty burning sensation" is very likely stomach acid, not true hunger. Talk with your surgeon about more/better PPI's and see if that doesn't take care of it. The stall in weight loss starting around the third week post op is completely normal. You can search the forums here (or even Google) for "three week stall vsg" or "third week stall bariatric surgery" or "3 week stall weight loss surgery" and you'll see that virtually everyone goes through this. Hang tight and stay off the scale for a few weeks, things will pick up again. Good luck! -
Okay, more that a little miffed. A bit of advice/help would be welcome.

@2goldengirl I was walking 12-14K steps a day while still in the Hospital. At my two week check in, my Doctor wanted to know what I was up to, and I told him I had stepped back, slowed down, and he admonished me, he told me to get out and get pushing! He'll be thrilled I have increased my walk, and it's really just that, a long walk. I drink 32oz of Water while doing it and wear a long, tight undershirt that holds my fat in place, so I am not jiggling. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it though, but the more I read it sounds like the dreaded three week stall, and there is not a lot I can do about it, except keep at it. -
So this kicks off month two post sleeve surgery and my weight loss has slowed down some. I had the three week stall; had a little movement last week and then nothing again. I havent changed much; the only thing I've added is veggies (zucchini, tomato, and mushrooms have been added back). PRotein is still the same, exercise is still the same or higher since now I can swim. I'm sure hormones are just f'ing with me, but is this common?

3 weeks out and weight gain
Mickie0130 replied to meaghan_rny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could definitely have hit the three week stall. But I'm curious how much protein are you eating a day? Should be between 60-90 grams. Your fluid intake isn't bad. My nut said you have to work up to the 64 ounces a day and she was right. Also how many calories are you eating a day? Do you journal? I HIGHLY recommend it! I do soooo much better hitting my goals when I journal. I suggest you stay away from the scale for two weeks, concentrate on getting your protein and fluids in and see how you do. I stalled at three weeks for two weeks and then i started dropping weight off rapidly. Best of luck to you! [emoji4] -
Not happy today, any suggestions?

The dreaded three week stall! Oy!!! I was sleeved on March 18th, 2013. My pre surgery weight was 230 and surgery day it was 218 and my current weight as of this morning was 194....I had hit my 3 week stall right on schedule but thankfully it lasted only 9 days!!! I am grateful for every single experience that I have had.....even the stall...I am happy to say that I have once again picked up on the weight loss and I only look at the scale 2x a week....!!! -

2 Weeks Post Op - Depressed and Hungry!
blizair09 replied to NancyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are just experiencing the "three week stall" that everyone goes through. Your body just went through a traumatic surgery and is concentrating more on healing at the moment than anything else. Your job right now is to meet your protein and water goals, and to work through your food stages. This isn't the most fun time in the journey, but it is an important time. You will feel better and better as the days and weeks go by. When you are hungry, have a protein shake (or part of a protein shake). That always helped me. Good luck! -
Just wanted to give you guys an update. The weight loss has started up again. At the time I wrote this I was 308. I am now 294. I also drank some Smooth Move tea. The three week stall is real! For those going through it just be patient stick to your plan and don’t give up!

Checking in....still having no issues at all from surgery which is a blessing. I had the dreaded three week stall but it has finally broke and the scale dropped 6 pounds since then. Whew. I am down 21 pounds since surgery and 44 pounds over all. I am so glad I did this and only wish I had done it sooner.

The three week stall others mentioned is very common. Just stick to your plan and the weight loss will pickup. I never had any problem drinking liquids either. I tried to slow down but if I drink without thinking about it I realize I can drink as much as i did pre surgery.

Google "three week stall." You're right on schedule.

This is so normal, there should be and entire website on the "three week stall." Mine hit at 8 days. So frustrating, but completely normal.

2 weeks no weight loss
fruitandveggies replied to 3boysmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a three week stall right at four weeks out, like you. I even gained five pounds! I honestly started losing once I started eating a little bit more. I'm about 4 months out and I'm having a stall too. Really is interesting how we can have such a large caloric deficit but not lose weight every week. This will pass! We just need to keep on doing the right things. -
1 week, no weight loss!
blizair09 replied to AmandaWho's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Google "three week stall." This happens to everyone. The best advice is to follow your plan, meet your protein and water goals each day, walk when you can, and stay off of the scale for a while. Your body is desperately trying to heal, and weight loss just isn't the top priority right now. -
