    Protein shakes

Syntrax nectar has a fuzzy navel flavor and a lot of other fruit flavors and coffee flavors. I'm not a coffee drinker, but the fruity ones were relatively decent tasting and not heavy like a shake. I mixed them with plain yogurt for a while rather than making a drink...not terrible. They are 25+ grams of protein no other calories, pretty much no vitamins. I also found packets of isopure unflavored at costco- again only calories are protein, pretty much vitamin free. Isopure mixes really well. I have used it in food and no one else notices, I do smell the protein powder smell though. Overall I have stopped using shakes for now as I am nauseated by the taste. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, chicken are some of my go tos.

    Recipes for Full Liquid Stage?

I second the pinterest idea! I really craved salty food by the time I progressed to full liquids. I was tired of sweet protein drinks. I relied pretty heavily on blended soups for this stage but watch out - some things are really gross blended up. A particularly nasty minestrone comes to mind. The absolute best soups to blend are Vietnamese pho (minus the noodles - I also removed the meat initially); japanese ramen (remove the noodles) and miso soup. I think they work so well because they are clear broth soups with a touch of meat, tofu and veggies. I found heavier broth soups containing beans, etc. to be less appetizing when blended. Whatever you do, don't blend any soups with the pasta in it unless you're into meat pudding 😖 In a pinch, you could make any of these on your own but I really loved getting my favorite soups as takeout, blending them and then freezing in a silicone mini muffin pan. I popped them out in labeled baggies and just popped them into the microwave one at a time as needed. Then, I could eat 3 or 4 different soups a day without wasting any. If you can tolerate adding some unflavored protein powder to it as well it's even more nutritious. There are also tons of easy full liquids that are sweet like sugar free yogurt, pudding, jello, etc.
  3. Hey darling thank you!! Yeah the first few weeks are tough. All in all I have been pretty much just eating like sugar free pudding or jello or an egg here and there but even that goes down very tough. Low fat yogurts and soups. This really is a life changing experience without a doubt. I never imagined someone like me would struggle with eating 😂. I just want time to fly by so I can start a "normal" dietary regime and start going to the gym. But for now just soft puree protein foods and walking. I am stoked though because I have so far lost 16 pounds in 3 weeks! I have much more to go but its all just a work in progress 🤗🤗

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Wow johnathan , that sounds great ! I will try it because I am failing miserably in the purée stage . Chicken salad didn’t work. Crab salad tasted gross . Turkey Chili didn’t work . I am living off my protein drinks and plain yogurt right now . Am going to try a scrambled egg tomorrow . I can get down a wedge of laughing cow light cheese so that helps in a pinch

    Soft meats?

So then stop eating it. LOL. Wait a couple weeks, then try again. You are one of the peeps who don't do well with chicken right now. Or you can try eating it with a gravy. Go back to fish. Poached or lightly sauteed. Go back to tuna from a pouch, maybe chicken from a pouch mixed with low fat mayo or avocado. Go back to soft scrambled eggs, soft boiled eggs, eggs fried in very little fat over easy. Cottage cheese, yogurt, ricotta bake, refried beans with cheese. Or make stews from ground turkey/ground chicken and cook until very tender. I also ate canned corned beef hash (nasty but some like it).

    Third week in

i am feeling so much better! had my first fill (which i posted yesterday as i found some discomfort but today is so much better, and worst case to get the fill out friday as it was feeling restrictive yesterday) but got Yogurt which is easy morning on the go! My Doctor has me on liquids for 2 days after the fill, then to soft foods again for a few more days then to start the transitioning to normal food diet next week which i am so so so excited for!!! I haven't tried pasta again but i did purchase some pulse pasta so i hope that will be better in the next few weeks but craving some proper protein (blending it or having just fish was not the same) It is hard because i don't know anyone who has had this recently (a friend of mine had it and cheated the band and moved to the sleeve, and i met someone in hospital who had the sleeve) so when it comes to these new things it is so hard to turn to places to ask!

    Third week in

I hope you are finding success! Your eating and drinking hopefully has improved. Yogurt, refried beans, and Cheese sticks. All helped me. We all are different . Try try try is true! (Sometimes a heating pad and laying on my left side helps if things don’t feel right) Mostly it seems like good behavior wins a lot. And... jumping right back in when there is a whoopsie . Best of luck. You can change the rest of your life by immersing yourself.

That looks really good. What is Matcha? A brand of yogurt or something you added to it? Ceremonial grade green tea, super concentrated. Sorry I'm missing notifications and I'm seeing everything super late... I add lemon flavored stevia so it's like lemon green tea yogurt, I'm *Tom Cruise voice* literally addicted. I love it. It tastes amazing and natural But I'm a person who loves stevia, golden milk and Kale... Your taste may differ

  10. Hi [emoji16] I definitely had hunger pains and the feeling of being hungry early on. I couldn't stand it lol. They've gotten better but just like the other person said, I'll eat something and feel semi full...dont want to over do it and then like a couple hrs later I'm hungry again. I'll drink something or have a popsicle. Today was my 1st day back at work. Had a scrambled egg with a little bit of cheese for breakfast then a little leftover chicken with a few sweet potato fries. Now its almost 2 hrs later and I'm beginning to feel hungry. I have a yogurt that I'll eat slowly. Tonight think I'm going to venture out and get rotisserie chicken and make some chicken salad for dinner and then for lunches. There are sooo many ideas out there to try I cant wait! I soooooo want spaghetti so I think I'm going to make zoodles with marinara sauce and parmesan cheese. Jeannine [emoji8]

All, Here is what I ate yesterday: Breakfast: Coffee, CarbMaster Peach Cottage Cheese Snack: PowerCrunch bar Lunch: Leftover Pot Roast (3 oz) and one small red potato Snack: Two Good low fat, low sugar yogurt Dinner: Leftover bean/beef casserole (1/2 serving) Snack: CarbSmart Vanilla Ice Cream Nutrition: 1,188 calories, 85g Protein, 56g Carbs, 17g Fiber, 67g Fat My program has me targeting 1,200 calories per day. I weigh pretty much everything that isn't packaged and track it all in MyFitnessPal. How does this compare to a typical day? I am 8 weeks out and have been on "normal food" for the last 3 weeks. It is sometimes a struggle to get in near 1,200 calories, that is why i spread everything out in 5 "meals". My weight loss has really slowed, but I am doing very well staying in the guidelines so I think it will pick back up.

    Food Before and After Photos

Back to life, back to reality... Y'all remember that song from the 90's right??? lemon Matcha yogurt with granola and what before and Afters??? yeah. I don't have a ton of restriction or notification on fullness, but I do have some. I may have been eating past it but now I'm trying to pay closer attention to the little voice that says "bihhh, you're done." 😎
  14. My sleeve surgery was Dec 31. I’ve had issues with a lot of bloating and constipation. I’ve been on clear liquids since surgery but will start a modified full liquid diet tomorrow (cream of wheat, protein shakes, pudding, yogurt plus clear fluids) and will stay on that for 2 weeks. I was 226 pounds the morning of surgery and was 228 a couple of days ago. Just trying to get the constipation and bloating under control.
  15. Hello all, I had my sleeve surgery Dec 28th and did great until I got home 2 days and then was due for my cycle of the month. My blood pressure shot way, way up. I wound up in a hospital in the town of Wickenburg where we moved. I am finally getting my BP down some and have been eating cream of wheat, premier drinks, egg drop soup, Yogurt, popsicles, baby foods and my favorite Scandal less Vanilla( because it taste great plus has great quality of protein. My Dr is known for a slim sleeve without a pre op diet. So it will take a little to attempt the harder foods for me as some of you are trying. I started 313 and I'm down to 299.5 at 5'8" .
  16. It is a lot of protein at first. I rely on tasteless protein powder that I can mix into fair life milk (lower sugar, higher protein) or mix into cottage cheese or yogurt. My diet started at 1/4 cup of food 3 x a day. And then the portion went up over time. And no snacking at all in between. Our rule is no drinking 15 mins before and 1 hour after eating.
  17. I also had my surgery on Dec 26th and am still on full liquid diet and feeling like I am starving! I have 2 Bariatric Advantage protein shakes a day , 1 premier advantage shake and a cup of broth daily. I make sure to take all my supplements and get my 64 ozs of water. My Doctor wants us to stay on this for 21 days total before progressing onto soft foods. We aren’t allowed eggs, yogurt and all the other things I am reading that you guys are eating. Did any of you also have a hiatal hernia repair with sleeve? I am 5’5 my highest weight was 150 and I am at 224 now for a loss of 26lbs. I can’t wait to be able to eat soft foods. Just an egg sounds incredibly yummy right now. So wild how different our plans our??
  18. Bought some sliced turkey today when I went for more yogurt. Had the turkey twice today with no problems. First the scrambled eggs and now the turkey, I'm amazed that I can eat this solid food so early in my recovery but I feel great so I'm just going to take one new food on at a time and keep moving forward.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Wow Steve u r doing great ! I can easily drink water as well and am doing purée and soft but still being careful . I can get a small container of plain yogurt down at one sitting but it takes a while . I have heard the sleeve doesn’t really kick with a lot of restriction till solid food so I wouldn’t worry , that said I would keep calories below 800 and Ike u r doing , carbs below 50. I am headed to my 3 rd spin class this week and feel great as well ! Just dont want to end up with a hernia, so waiting on weights . My spinning broke my 3 day stall , but I agree , I think as long as we track the carbs and sugar , try to stay in Kerosis we can lose 1 lbs day or so. I have lost 15 since my 12/20 surgery and. 22 since the start of my preop diet . Feeling strong I agree , best thing I ever did !
  22. Hello my name is Lenny and I too had the sleeve on 12/26. I joined this forum because of this thread and the other great info I've read about on this forum. I have tons of questions about eating and my life after this sleeve but first some history on me. I started this journey way back in March of 2018, and I weighed in at 320lbs. I'm 40lbs healthier, now down to 280lbs, and about 20lbs of that was from both the protein shake and full liquid diet before and after the surgery. Surgery the day after Christmas went really well, and unlike a lot on this forum, I can tolerate and enjoy the protein shakes. Can't tell you much I've enjoyed the taste of food again. Malt-o-meal, vanilla greek yogurt, and soups have never tasted better.
  23. Hi, surgery twins! I was sleeved 12/26. Starting weight was 289 (I'm 5'8"), and I'm down 15 pounds so far. Had a really positive experience with surgery. Stayed one night, pain meds on surgery day only, and no nausea. I've been able to keep down everything I've tried. Sipping on Premier Protein, creamy soups, and Greek yogurt to get me through. Returned to work this past Wednesday. I'll start soft foods next Wednesday. Hope y'all are doing good!
  24. No IF for me this week. Free breakfast included, then late dinners, so, yeah. Thankfully I only figured out on the last day you could sub arroz con leche for the yogurt parfait in the free breakfast, ignorance has it's benefits! I should be on board for the January Challenge and IF once I return home.

    I’m always full

Yes. It's normal. But here's the thing. It's your responsibility to figure it out. Figure out a way to get your protein in. We all did it. Ask your doc what your protein goal is for this early out. Many only had a 40-48g protein total. By the end of my first week, I was getting 60g in. I ate according to a timer and schedule and not because I was hungry. And 60g is only 2 drinks. Add a spoon of protein powder to your yogurt to up the protein total. Add an ounce of Protein Drink to your yogurt to thin it out. Add protein powder to your eggs (unflavored). If you tolerate cheese, add some cheese. I love cottage cheese cooked with scrambled eggs. It melts! Who knew?
