PS: Also, the 'My Surgery' section of my profile - how do you edit/update that section?? I want to put my height, weight, etc. there but can't find edit button.
Can someone help me with that?
Thanks in advance.

I bought my first pair of jeans in over a decade and am wearing them. And I know I'm supposed to be happy, but all I see is the fat bulging beneath the fabric. I feel like a disgusting freak with a huge, pendulous stomach and fat, but disproportionately small legs.
I don't look "great". I look disgusting. I'm just smaller, with fat still dripping down over every inch of me.
This is supposed to be my end point from my highest weight and I cannot live like this.

Hello, I am 53 years old and just in the beginning of my process. Lost my required weight prior to surgery, Psychological evaluation completed, meet with surgeon, meeting monthly with dietitian and now waiting for the perapproval from insurance. Hoping for April or May. Still to do on my list is joining a support group. My weight loss clinic has one but I would like this as an option too. I will be having the gastric sleeve surgery. Excited for this journey. Thanks for your support.

Beautiful family! I completely understand your hesitation to post on social media. When I gained a lot of weight I actually remove myself completely off social media and now it’s been a few years. To be honest I miss it so looking forward to be more active online once I feel more comfortable about my weight!

Hi everyone I'm Merill🖐️ I've just joined your blog, I'm due to have gastric bypass on the 27th of April, I weigh at a 100 kilos atm, hoping to gain some Insight and knowledge and share my own experiences with other people who have gone through the same - have so many questions racing in my head lol. Pls wish me luck 🤞😊

Hi Debber,
Firstly congratulations you're on your upcoming surgery which is not far off! 🥳🥳
Unfortunately my scheduled date has been postponed due to covid cases taking up all the beds in the hospital and I've been told either May 2nd or the 16th even those days aren't guaranteed at this time! it all depends on the availability of the beds.
Oh well I look at it from a glass half full side, I'm a believer that everything happens for a reason, better late than never! Good luck on your surgery and please keep me updated as I will be following you😊
All the best🤞🙏😊

I'm losing more than weight. Ran labs to prep for my annual exam and since my pre-op labs in September (sleeved 10/13), I've lost:
-
39pts off my Total Cholesterol including...
- 29pts off LDL
- 33pts off Triglycerides
- 18pts off fasting glucose & almost normal range
- A1C is lower on low end of "pre-diabetic" range
My surgeon does labs at 6 months, so this is cool info to have in the meantime!

I loss 19 pounds my first 7 days post op 🙌🏽 (Water weight or real weight.. weight is weight to me.. I’ll take it lol) I make sure I keep my water with me 24.7 and I walk every chance I get. I cook dinner for my kids with no problems. I have zero cravings! By next week I should be in the 200’s. Haven’t been there since high school 🥲

Finally home! Now I can get some rest. I hate sleeping in hospitals. Little to no pain. No gas pain but I still took a gas x just in case. Oh and I gained 10 pounds of fluid weight 😩

Hope you guys are still doing alright. I'm still drowning in work but managed to take a 4-day-weekend this week.
Stumbled across this and had to think of the "choosing the goal weight"-threads and that many people obviously don't seem to fully realize what it might cost them to get (and stay!) there.

I just found this site and joined and it looks like it’s going to be a big help for me. I’m 4 1/2 months in on my preop weight loss plan and I have really been struggling and making terrible decisions for the past month. And it showed up on the scale. I just wanted to say hello and see if anyone has any words of wisdom for someone who is struggling before the surgery even happens.

Hi everyone, I have been reading posts here for a while and have learned so much from all of you. My VSG takes place on 31st May and after looking forward to this for so long I am now experiencing a lot of anxiety about it. I am worried that I could be one of the very few that will experience a leak and I'll end up having to stay in hospital for months or worse! I'm not worried about the pain or not being able to eat and drink my favourite foods (well, that's not entirely true, I do wonder how I'll cope in social situations as I am not telling anyone apart from my husband, who is also scheduled for VSG one month after me, and my grown-up children. What I am REALLY worried about it not working for me. I have yo-yo dieted my whole adult life and use to find it relatively easy to lose weight, Not any more! Over the past couple of years I have tried many VLC diets and lost nothing, or even put on weight! So, my concern is that having the sleeve that literally forces me to controls the amount I can eat will be no different to a VLCD. I am 56 and I know that it is harder to lose at my age. I am praying with everything I have that getting the sleeve will do something miraculous to change my sluggish metabolism that will help me lose this weight! Any insight would be much appreciated.

Hi I quite understand your anxiety. I had it too just three days before my Op which was on Thursday. I am now out the other side and SO glad that I did not lose my nerve. I am at home again and just taking it easy. I was so nervous but my Friends and Family have been so supportive. One tip take loose pyjamas into the Hospital with you. I am so glad I took mine. Makes you a lot more comfortable. Good luck and just start imagining the new post op you. I also if it helps had a supply of protein drinks at home ready for the first couple of weeks. I have protein lemon water and also bought some spray vitamins which have been so good as I cannot go back to my gummy vitamins for a couple of weeks. I am on day three and made myself a yogurt and semi skimmed milk smoothie with liquidised blue berries strained through a sieve. I have made enough for two portions . Dead easy and so much nicer than some of those flavoured low fat yogurts. We are all thinking of you . Honestly I have had worse operations xx

Ah, you are a treasure to respond to my rambling anxieties! I'm new to this forum and only just found your reply! I'm so glad you got on ok and are out the other end! I have protein powder and protein water powder in a couple of flavours at the ready. I must try and fins spray vitamins. I've never heard of that before but it sounds like a great idea, especially when you can't eat your gummies. I have chewable multivitamins so I wonder if I'll be allowed to take them? Ou, thank you also for the advice about tge loose jammies, I will definitely take them. Take care and keep in touch. x

what you’re going through is absolutely normal I cannot stress enough to stay hydrated. It is incredibly important to stay hydrated! The weight loss is going to come off stay hydrated get the protein and stay with the diet that the doctor recommends do not try to skip the steps! just remember you’re in this for the long haul! I am currently six months out from my surgery and I am extremely happy with it just remember you’re doing this for your health and well-being… And you’re not alone… If you have an air bubble that you feel in your chest that is normal… A lot of us have been through it just stay hydrated listen to your doctor follow the steps and be proud of yourself.-holly 6mo post op gastric bypass you got this!

Congrats on the weight loss thus far. I’m 3 weeks post op and started at around your weight (492). When did you start eating “normally” again? If you have.

Hi Kaj,
We are similar ages. I'm slated to have VGS with Tim Faulkenberry on 3/22. Curious to know what you thought of his skills, his practice and aftercare. So far, I've found his office to be a bit disorganized and I am hoping that he is NOT disorganized.
I have lots of comorbidities to eradicate. I am 22 lbs. lower than my highest weight of several years ago, but 15 lbs higher than my lowest weight. I gained the 15 back quite easily during COVID. I've been on saxenda, phentremine, and topomax over the years (as well as WW) in an effort to reduce pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea. This past year, I was also diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease, Stage 3a. There is a history of cardiovascular disease on my paternal side.
Although I am 70 years "young", I do not act, feel, or look like an old person. I still work full time and am active with my 5 grandchildren, ages 9-2. I am a 5-mile walker, a few times per week, for the last 15 years or so, and I do strength training. My aim is to be like my role-model, my 96-year old mother, who remains, active, smart, and full of grace, beloved by her 7 great-grandchildren.
I hope you are doing well, this far out from your surgery. Would love to know anything you can warn me about Dr. F and his staff or any good news about them, based on your experience. Thanks.
