Sophie don’t worry about the stall. I was told it’s normal. Just keep getting in your protein and water. My nutritionist told me I should be sipping from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. Except when 30min before and after a meal. So one of the ladies in my post op support group said she sets her alarm for every 8mins and takes a sip. I’ve been doing that since Monday and it is working. I drink my Premier protein drink and then I eat high protein food like Greek yogurt, turkey, etc. I was taking the Celebrate Complete 45mg but it made me nauseous and I would vomit within 5mins of taking it. So I talk to my nutritionist and I order the bariatric advantage multi vitamin chew and the chewy Iron 30mg. I chew two a day. I also do the bariatric advantage chewy 500mg calcium. Works well for me.

I'm doing about 50/50 on my January goals. My food choices have been either great or crappy. I did OK with weight loss this month and now have hit a short plateau. I think I'm not getting enough calories in now that I'm working out harder. This was a problem a couple of months ago and increasing my calories helped. That's when I started letting some not great foods back into my diet and I gave myself the excuse that I needed the extra calories and I was still losing weight. Problem is that they mess with my head. So the last few days I've focused on cleaning up my diet instead of worrying about IF. I discovered that I can eat scrambled eggs again if I have it in the evening. I still get all foamed up even if I eat them slowly in the mornings. Wtf? Anyway, I think I'm on a good track now that I eat either some greek yogurt with toasted nuts or part of a scrambled egg with salsa on it as an evening snack. No other choices - if I'm not interested in eating one of those things then I don't really need anything. We shall see! Hoping for some more progress on the scale but putting together before/after pics helped me not feel so blah about my progress

If you are looking for over processed items that hardly resemble food you will find your choice a lot more limited than you are used to. If you are happy with fabulous fresh produce , artisan breads, divine yogurt etc then you will be happy. And if you like coffee apparently ours is better than in Italy

Oh yeah, i can have that stuff too- minus the creamy soups. But I dont have any desire to have jello or yogurt to be honest. I will save that for after. SF Popsicle too but it's cold as hell here....so I don't want anything cold. At least you only have to do a week -

Pouch Rules for Dummies - Found this to be interesting

Same. I emailed it and messengered it to myself and then took screenshots just to make sure I don't lose this info. Now just to make sure i am reading this right, this is info for after 6 months out? Is water loading ok on a smaller scale for <6months? And if you aren't taking a protein shake or protein milk in place of a meal, how the heck do you get the protein powder in during the early months? Especially since i am guilty of soft meals like low sugar yogurt or cottage cheese with pp mixed in as a nice meal (i am one week into month 3). -
Eating and drinking
RoRoKitty replied to lorraine#11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would suggest to try soft and puréed food... introduce fish, seafood, chicken, cottage cheese, yogurts etc slowly into your daily life... as soon as you see you can tolerate these, you can add one new thing every once in a while in minimum quantities. Every body is unique and there is no 100% right diet and wrong diet. Just focus on your proteins first and then you can worry about your greens, carbs are coming last. -
Sleeve surgery instructions
anonbaribabe replied to Healthy_life's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sure. Here's my diet progression: Stage 1: Bariatric Full Liquid Diet (Weeks 1-2) #1 Sugar-Free Fluids This is the number one priority after surgery—drink a minimum of 64 ounces/day. Examples: Water, herbal tea (no caffeine), Crystal Light, PowerAde Zero, etc. Liquids should be non-carbonated, non-caffeinated, and under 15 calories/8 ounces #2 Protein Shakes Goal of 60g-80g protein/day. Mix with water or unsweetened nut milk. Stage 2: Soft Protein Foods (Weeks 3-4) #1 Sugar-Free Fluids Still the number one priority after surgery #2 Food 3 meals/day of soft protein foods (aim for 60g of protein as able—compensate with protein shakes if unable to hit 60g through food). There is no set portion size—you must listen to your body. Examples of soft foods: eggs, whole beans, canned meat, shaved/thinly sliced deli meats, fish, tofu, Greek yogurt, cheese, refried beans, etc. #3 Protein Shakes You may need to drink 1 protein shake/day to meet the 60g of protein if you can't meet this goal from foods. Stage 3: Bariatric Regular Foods (Week 5+) #1 Sugar-Free Fluids Still the number one priority after surgery #2 Food 3 meals/day focusing on protein. Small bites and stop at the first indication of fullness. There is no set portion size. Try new foods one at a time and in small amounts. Focus on solid protein for best portion and hunger control. Put fork down and pause between bites. -

4 months out and FRUSTRATED!!!!!!
KimTriesRNY replied to OhioSparkle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can give you a vague menu. For breakfast I usually eat eggs and maybe some chicken sausage. Sometimes one of those prepared mini omelettes. On a rare occasion I have low sugar oatmeal. Calories are usually 250. For dinner I usually eat a meal of chicken, pork, fish, or some type of soup that is high in protein. Calories are usually 250-300. I normally eat snacks of Greek yogurt , certain protein bars, maybe some pistachios, cottage cheese, or lunch meat. I average 800-900 calories a day but I try to eat more on days I’m in the gym or more active. It is tough as I miss some vegetables and need to find more balance of working them in but I just cannot eat a lot. I get about 75 grams of protein and less than 50 grams of carbs a day currently. -

Strawberry lemonade yogurt w/ gluten free granola Before and After -
Hi all, at my 6 week checkup on Friday, I had lost 43 lbs total and 22 since surgery. I’m free to add all food to my diet and to work up to 1/2 cup food at my 3 meals per day (half protein, half vegetables, including raw veggies!). I can have nuts too! I’ve had a tough time with ready made protein shakes, but I made a protein shake at home with spinach, banana, Fage yogurt, blueberries and vanilla protein powder and it was quite good. It is so good to feel almost normal :).

How I eat now: Way more protein than I used to eat, and I eat it all day, not just at dinner. Fewer veggies than I'd like, there's just not room. Lots of yogurt. I still eat a lot of soups and stews.

Flying after sleeve...what’s allowed on the plane?
sideeye replied to Letsgetgoing2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Bring an empty water bottle (or dump it out in the bathroom before security) and some of the individual packets of Crystal Lite. When you're on the other side of security, tip the Crystal Lite into your water bottle and fill at a water fountain. That's what I do, I carry about six of those packets with me for any trip. Based on what I've seen from other frequent flyers, one thing that will surprise you is how LITTLE you need to eat on the plane now. I always, ALWAYS over-purchase in a panic in the airport (protein bar, drinkable yogurt, nuts, spare water) and then end up carrying it around with me the rest of the trip. It's also annoying because some airports now require you to pull snacks out of your bag during screening (they won't tell me why). More and more I've found myself just doing the water bottle/Crystal Lite and a small bag of cashews or something. If I'm on Alaska Air, I'll buy one of their in-flight cheese plates. If you're seven months out, there's little you need to worry about after landing. Before four months out things get sticky and I advise that people check a bag with things in it like protein shakes and jerky and other stage-appropriate foods. But after four months you can pretty much source anything you need onsite. -
Ended up getting discharged a little after 10am yesterday. I got home and was completely exhausted. Walked a couple of times, but slept the majority of the time until early this morning. So now trying to figure out what I still like. Everything sweet flavored tastes like salt -- orange jello, flavored greek yogurt -- can't really stand the taste. So working on a plain vanilla shake and hot tea this morning. Haven't used any pain meds at all, but was having some burning reflux pain through the night. Hoping for improvements throughout the day as I increase intake.

Anyone develop Acute Severe Diarrhea
MMME replied to marly18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Ooh! What's the powder? I started the probiotics last night so I'll give that a week to see how I go (pun intended). If that doesn't work then I'm going to have to try something else. I don't want to give up dairy - I love yogurt, cheese, etc. I will if I absolutely have no choice, but I really don't want to. -
Day nine How do I stay on plan? Plan, plan, plan. I don’t leave anything up to chance. Carry water with me everywhere I go, keep Greek yogurts in the work fridge, if I’m invited to a party, I bring a dish (one that I can eat, so if there’s nothing else there, I know I have a safe option). Fail to plan...plan to fail

Food Before and After Photos

My Nutritionist did a food demo this week and here they are. No after picture but I finished them both. For perspective the glass is a a shot glass and bowl is a small dessert bowl. She served less than an once of yogurt in each. They both were great and opposites on flavor. My wife hates food demos because I skip out in dinner.
