    Day 1 photos

Hi, my name is Carrielee and I am new and just beginning my journey. I am 31 years old and have been overweight/obese since I was a young child. Today I am at my all time heaviest with a BMI of 54. I am 31, 5 feet tall and 278.45 pounds. I have many co morbidities...hypertension (resistant to treatment), type II diabetes, Angina/chest pain, I’ve had a TIA, I have sleep apnea, high cholesterol, PCOS, liver disease, just diagnosed yesterday with multiple PE’s...I’m slowly killing myself and I’m done. I’m on constant pain, struggle with basic ADLs due to my weight. Constantly short of breath. Yesterday when checking into the ER with heart attack like symptoms, despite multiple anti hypertensives and beta blockers, my BP was stroke level (178/108, with a heart rate of 137). My mom died at 48 of a heart attack with similar conditions and was morbidly obese as well...doing this for her to not have the same fate. I have my initial consult with the WLS surgeon on the 25th...
  11. I started weight lifting at three years post sleeve and it made a huge difference in my confidence especially!

    Before Photos

These photos are mostly from 2015 on, however I did find an older one from 2003, when I was really starting to pack on the weight, still before having babies. After 2010, after my last baby, I have just lived with the extra weight.
  15. PS: Also, the 'My Surgery' section of my profile - how do you edit/update that section??  I want to put my height, weight, etc. there but can't find edit button.

Can someone help me with that?

    Thanks in advance.

  16. I bought my first pair of jeans in over a decade and am wearing them. And I know I'm supposed to be happy, but all I see is the fat bulging beneath the fabric. I feel like a disgusting freak with a huge, pendulous stomach and fat, but disproportionately small legs.

I don't look "great". I look disgusting. I'm just smaller, with fat still dripping down over every inch of me.

This is supposed to be my end point from my highest weight and I cannot live like this.

  18. Hello, I am 53 years old and just in the beginning of my process.  Lost my required weight prior to surgery, Psychological evaluation completed, meet with surgeon, meeting monthly with dietitian and now waiting for the perapproval from insurance.  Hoping for April or May.  Still to do on my list is joining a support group.  My weight loss clinic has one but I would like this as an option too.  I will be having the gastric sleeve surgery.  Excited for this journey.   Thanks for your support.

Thanks.. drinking is getting easier but my incision site still hurts (a bit worse tbh.. but there is more diffuse surface bruising which I think is why… gotta love the healing process)

  21. Here are some photos during my weight regain. I would have never show anyone these or upload these photos to social media because of how insecure I feel about my weight regain. I feel more comfortable and safe sharing these to the Bariatric Pal community.

Beautiful family! I completely understand your hesitation to post on social media. When I gained a lot of weight I actually remove myself completely off social media and now it’s been a few years. To be honest I miss it so looking forward to be more active online once I feel more comfortable about my weight!

Thank you!!! Right! my family and friends use to ask why I never post any body pictures, I was never comfortable in my own skin even losing 60 lbs. I am hoping this will help bring confidence.

Thank you so much for sharing Tina, I totally agree, people are very uneducated about weight loss, you are absolutely right! I will look into this book for sure, as I really want this to work🙏❤️

Hi Merill! I am Debber. I just joined this blog today. I am scheduled to have gastric bypass on April 27th, as well. As the date approaches, I've gotten a little anxious, but looking forward to it, too. Here's to a successful surgery and journey for us! :)

      Merill

      Hi Debber,

Firstly congratulations you're on your upcoming surgery which is not far off! 🥳🥳

Unfortunately my scheduled date has been postponed due to covid cases taking up all the beds in the hospital and I've been told either May 2nd or the 16th even those days aren't guaranteed at this time! it all depends on the availability of the beds.

Oh well I look at it from a glass half full side, I'm a believer that everything happens for a reason, better late than never! Good luck on your surgery and please keep me updated as I will be following you😊

      All the best🤞🙏😊

  24. I'm losing more than weight. Ran labs to prep for my annual exam and since my pre-op labs in September (sleeved 10/13), I've lost:

    • 39pts off my Total Cholesterol including...
      • 29pts off LDL
      • 33pts off Triglycerides
    • 18pts off fasting glucose & almost normal range
    • A1C is lower on low end of "pre-diabetic" range

My surgeon does labs at 6 months, so this is cool info to have in the meantime!

I cook dinner for my kids with no problems. I have zero cravings!  By next week I should be in the 200’s. Haven’t been there since high school 🥲
