  1. I had a cast Iron stomach before surgery. Very rarely would food make me ill. Post op, things don't make me "sick" per se (no nausea, vomiting) but I never know what will send me to the bathroom. And it changes from day to day. Also, before surgery (sorry if TMI), but if I had to have a BM and I was out in public/mall/running/shopping/whatever, I could "hold" it until I got home. Not anymore - gotta go gotta go! And sometimes when I gotta go, my tummy cramps. I definitely didn't have that kind of urgency pre-op. As far as complications are concerned, my recovery was fabulous. I didn't feel bad at all. My gallbladder did have to be taken out about 9 months post-op.
  2. I went to the surgeon's office friday and just cried. I told them i'm so sick of being so tried i can barely function. I'm normally perky to the point of nausea! the Nut told me i looked very pale and tired..gee thanks! My 2 biggest complaints were tiredness and the (now 27 day) menstrual cycle...(sorry TMI) The GYN's office took a week to call me back (after i called 3 times) to tell me they wanted to put me on an antibiotic since i must have an infection....nope just got off a course of antibiotics for a REAL infection in my incision site..but noone asked me. She said she'd check with the doc again and call me back. At 3pm on fridays they shut off their phones and your Out of luck till monday. My surgeons NP insisted i call the "doc on call" and demand they do something after a week of no information. I did and they have put me on birthcontrol (3 a day initially for 3 days then 2 a day for 3 days then one till the end of the pack). So i ask the nut if i was eating enough Protein, low carbs, exercising ok and what not...she insisted i was doing everyhting to the T perfect....yet not lost any weight since 9 days after surgery (this friday it will be one month since surgery). They seem to think that this 27 day cycle is holding back my weight loss...GREAT! They drew bloodwork and called me today to tell me I have low Iron leverls ( shocker...) and upped my iron to double what i was taking and increase my B12 to 4 times a week form 1 time a week and keep up the hard work..... i'm frustrated with my body...knowing how angry it is with the sleeve, the hernia repair and the cycle form hell.....but it's got to start giving up the weight soon ( i am praying)! Frustration...frustrations...frustrations...but all i can do at this point is keep on keeping on.... sorry i guess this turned into a HUGE rant and i should have posted this to rants...but i guess i'm a lucky person compared to people with leaks and major health concerns...got to keep the positive thoughts going! 3. Hi everyone. TMI nausea warning at 10 weeks post Bypass. Anyone suffer from nausea after eating? This just started for me and I throw up slime, not actual food. It's not foam but a clear or with a tinge of color, thick stuff. The nausea sometimes lasts for for hours as well as the vomiting. Very early on I did get a little nausea because I thought I could eat 1/2 cup but could only actually eat 1/4 cup. An extra bite was too much. This is different. This is full blown nausea, I am going to throw up in the middle of the room if I don't run to the bathroom. In fact, I lost it in the car. Not sure what to do because it happens with all sorts of foods I could eat before. Anyone knows what this is? What to do? Experienced it? Help!

    12 Hours Post Op

Thanks for the replies! I'll try and walk more, I bet that will help. Courtney's mom, did you have trouble getting the gas out the first day? I think what my issue is I'm afraid to try push it out because of my sore abdomen, tmi I'm sorry!
  5. I am nearing the end of my third week. I didn't lose anything from end of week 2 until just this past friday and even then it was only 3 lbs. I'm chalking it up to that I'm really backed up (TMI sorry) and at the 2 week mark is when I started to eat more foods. I'm hoping for better results in the coming weeks.

I thought I was going to die tonight worse pain I've had but I made myself burp and fart then I was good to go sorry tmi but it's the truth. Walking does help a lot I don't even know where my port is so don't know if it's hurting or not lol
  8. I had sleeve on 9/11/14 I had one normal bowel movement and then water green(tmi) diarrhea. I'm scared to go any where it's just god awful. Is this going to go away?

    Constipation

Stool softners help though stay away from laxatives because they cause cramping. This is TMI, but if it's "right there" but you can't get it out, I would try a suppository or enema. Going forward, drink LOTS of Water and consider a daily Fiber supplement.
  10. Lissa

    Coffee

I drink decaf coffee several times a week. TMI, but it helps me avoid constipation issues. I have been almost completely decaf since surgery. I have had maybe 3 cups of caffeinated drinks, including tea. I had a really tough time giving up my diet coke before surgery, so I am avoiding caffeine because I know that was the culprit.
  11. Great post! I get a sensation like a need to burp but its painful adn doesn't calm down or go away until i get rid of whatever i have overeaten.. Sorry TMI! Lol I have started being able to tell when this will happen though (almost 2 months post-op now).. i also get that hot flush, rush sensation in my body as i am eating and that is when i know i am reaching the FULL mark! When i stop at this point i am normally fine. But. When i think i am smarter than my sleeve... weeellll... i normally have to leave the table immediately after that last bite..

  13. Gatorade will be your best friend through this stage. I have had lots of diarrhea (sorry if TMI) and that has saved me from dehydration. I think at this point, its trial and error on what will give you some relief. HANG IN THERE!!

    Gas pain

I am post op 6 day and I am just now feeling better. It was awful. I did not get any relief until I took some MOM. For some reason, I could not fart. I know TMI but I just want you to know I totally understand what you are going through right now. Today is the 1st day I have truly felt better. Hang in there....
  15. Hi all I am 16 days out, and finding that my shakes are giving me horrible gas and pains. Sometimes it goes straight through me too (TMI) but the issue is, so does a lot of other stuff!! Sometimes milk goes straight through me, and yoghurt too. So I then resorted to water based shakes, and then they are doing the same thing. Bit confused on what to drink and eat now!!! Will call my nut tomorrow - but it's just frustrating. I am enjoying a poached egg most days, or hummus....but that's about all ha.
  16. Does anyone else feel their stomach & tolerance for food are very different during your periods. Feeling a bit nauseous.....Ugh. A month sleeved..
  17. Thanks for all of ur help everyone. I didn't sleep worth Beans last nite cuz of the reflux. This might be tmi but this morning when I woke up I felt something wet on the sheet. Its brownish green liquid. Im guessing bile. Yuck. Someone asked if id been under stress lately. Im currently out of the state now visiting my mom who had a major stroke 2 wks ago and is still in a coma and on a respirator. I have a o clue what the future brings If I don't feel better today I think im gunna go to the ER later. Im so miserable and because im out of state (I live in OR and im in CAK I don't have access to my band dr.I really don't want an unfill but if it'll make me feel even a little better, im open to anything. Normal?

Ladies this is a little tmi but is it normal to get a period 3 days after surgery? I haven't gotten a heavy period in about 2 months now. It started Monday just spotting but yesterday and today it's super heavy. Help!? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I was using miralax every few days to help keep me soft (I know, TMI) but have now switched to the walmart brand of benefiber. I use the clear which I mix 1 tablespoon in the morning with 16 oz of Water and/or with a drink mix powder to flavor my water and then again in the afternoon. This mixes well and has no taste what so ever. I cannot eat enough fruit or veggies to get my Fiber in any other way. I may not go everyday but this was the only way I could get in enough fiber without causing serious pain. I had a hiatal hernia repair at the time of my sleeve and if we push/strain too much I could get another. Now my husband does not have an issue at all with his plumbing (LOL) and he does not take any extra fiber at all. I just do this when I take my Vitamins. As for the scale. I gain and lose all during the day (for me this is normal) so I just keep to morning and night weighing....It is an addicition I can not give up but I understand. As long as I am not gaining and not losing it again, I am not going to worry. Good Luck
  20. Sorry if this is TMI but I have to ask! I have PCOS and I'm on birth control so I only get a period 4 times a year. I also have endometriosis. I get hideous cramps to the point where I'm completely laid out. I double over in pain, etc. The only thing that took the edge off was a lot of NSAIDs, mainly diclofenac and 800mg of ibuprofen. Now that I'm banded I obviously can't take these medications and I'm scared of what the first period is going to bring. Tylenol, midol, and other products that aren't NSAID's do NOT touch the pain at all. For those of you who have PCOS and bad cramps and everything, what do you take for the pain now that you're banded?
  21. I wasn't allowed to have juice and Miralax did not work for me either but Ducolax was a life saver. Make sure you are hitting your Water goals of at least 64 oz/day. Just know that we are eating so little early on that not going everyday may be your new normal. TMI warning- I'm 4 years out and I still do not BM everyday. I only consider myself "backed up" if I don't go for more than 72 hours. Pre-op I went daily.
  22. I've been eating 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds a day for the past couple of weeks, they are MARVELLOUS for your bowels, high in protein, low in carbs and a great source of quite a few important nutrients for about 200 calories. I've been having bowel issues for reasons other than my band - a lot of low grade diarrhoea, constantly needing to pass tiny quantities, bleeding etc. I was taking lots of benefibre etc, but not to much effect, the pumpkin seeds have not only provided a lot of fibre (which I was already getting) but have added a lot of bulk to the stool, sorry, I know that's TMI, which I really really needed. I cant tell you how good it feels to pass something that is actually satisfying, lol. Sunflower seeds are brilliant too. Just plain, not salted, flavoured or anything, they're really really good for you.
  23. Gallbladder surgery, appendix removed, hemmorhoids (tmi maybe) or how about plastic surgery if they say where say you don't want to know...
  24. My doc's office just called, and my Iron is low. It was 24, she said it should be between 50-150. I've seen lower levels in googling. the nurse said I should take Ferrets iron supplement. I have seen some of the other recommendations of other types to take, one of the things I'm worried about is that I am already have (TMI, ahem) constipation issues, and the iron is just going to make this worse, right? Grr. I think I am also going to take the plunge with Novasure. I've been toying with it because of lady problems, but now this added to the mix, makes me want to just cut the whole TOM thing out. Any advice or sharing of your story would be helpful!
