  3. Hi everyone. Thursday, Friday and Saturday I was walking because I felt so good on Thursday and Friday. However I think I have been doing too much walking and sewing. Last night as I was working on sewing a curtain for my patio which I hope to me able to get out onto in the next coming weeks my back across the shoulder really started to hurt. Today the lower back shoulder pain has moved to the side breast underarm pit area. Is it possible for that pain to move? It makes me wonderful if the lower back shoulder pain I had was gas pain due to the laparoscopic surgery. If it is when does this gas pain truly leave the body? This new location pain hurts as much as the lower shoulder back pain did. Also how is it possible to gain weight when all I have had is protein soups and shakes? Yesterday when I got on the scale I was up 4 pounds. It makes no sense. Does liquid Tylenol with codeine cause weight gain even when you don't eat anything? Sorry for the venting but today is not a good day. I am frustrating that I may be backsliding not progressing.

Thanks but a super hero I don't think so. During the 3 procedure operation I had my gallbladder taken out. This is not incision pain. It is in the right side lower back shoulder pain that moved today to the breast armpit area. I saw my PCP on Thursday when I had the pain for 6 days all ready. He thought when the nurses and Pt lifted me off the toilet they broke a rib. But that was not the case. He gave me liquid Tylenol with codeine and it was helping but when the pain switched to the breast armpit area the meds were not helping any more. The walking I was doing was with the walker but today I couldn't even get out the door. All I did was relax in my recliner, surf the net and watch TV. It is only 10 days post op so I was surprised to see a stall all ready

Don't psych yourself out ssflbelle, you are doing fine and everything is working fine. Just chill out and heal a little bit. Slow but sure is the tortoise. Take the small victories and I agree you should stay off the scale for a while. Gas pains can and do move from one area to another sometimes. I had similar problems years ago when I had an abdominal surgery. The gas working out was the worst part.

Don't be down on yourself !

I was also having a meltdown over my weight gain from surgery so good news day 8 from surgery and finally lost 2 lbs .... geez seems slow but so happy to finally be lower than my weight before the surgery!!! Hope your gas pain subsides soon!

  7. I had an RNY and a gallbladder removal on 7/24/15 and I am REALLY struggling emotionally!!! My food is good for the most part (I do dump sometimes tho) and weight loss is good too but my main issue is severe loneliness. I have NO ONE that I can discuss anything with or anyone for that matter that understands the new changes in my life. I lost my best friend due to this surgery (my changes were too much for her) so she did not come to help me during my recovery as promised (she lives in another state). I talk to her rarely now but it is very difficult because I am still hurting deeply. I am divorced and my two adult children are not supportive either. They have never been much anyway because they are so selfish. They emotionally abused me by starting confrontations the same week I came home from the hospital. Since they have chosen to disrespect my healing process I only interact with them when necessary. I have always been a strong, private woman (the one who others reach out to) and pride myself for not being what I call "needy" but my sadness has become so severe that I now know that I need to reach out. I need interactive, consistant people who want to be friendly and share. I am looking to not only be supported but I am looking to be supportive as well. There are no good WLS support groups in my area so I am reaching out here, thanks for listening! :)

I am so sorry you are going through this. Support is certainly very important at this time, so I hope we here on this board can be of some support to you! My surgery was about 6 weeks before you (RNY on June 4).

  8. I have been avoiding purchasing any new clothes, as I am sure I am not done losing weight yet, but all of my jeans and shirts fit so big. I tried a Salvation Army but they didn't have anything bigger than a 2xl shirt or a 42 waist. Not sure exactly what I needed yet, I went someplace Familiar. DXL (formerly Casual Male XL), or as I like to call it, "The Big and Fat Store". I was a little shocked, and a lot giddy when I found out why my 52 waist jeans and 5xl tops were so big. I need a 46 waist and a 3xl shirt. BOOM! Happy times, folks!

Good job! I struggle with the same thing as I have dropped 5 sizes so far. The last set of pants I bought I got a little snug so they will eventually fit well in the next 4 weeks or so. Plus pants nowadays tend to stretch out after wearing them all day anyway. Have fun buying smaller clothes :-)

    2. BLERDgirl

      BLERDgirl

I buy only what's necessary and even then it has to be on clearance. I just ordered 3 new bras, 2 dresses (under $10ea) and more gym clothes. Once I'm into straight sizes I'll probably hit the thrift shops.

    3. Lexigurl82

      Lexigurl82

Congrats! Buy clothes from Goodwill or any thrift stores until you hit your goal weight. also, make sure of the clearance racks at Walmart, Citi Trends for example. I can't wait until I can start buying smaller clothes :)

  9. 4th Fill today. I'm now at 5.25 cc's. Definitely feeling restriction. I'm having trouble with choosing foods I can eat. I tried a piece of fish today and got stuck. No bueno! Not really loosing a whole bunch of weight either... hmm. Any suggestions on food would be great because I'm getting pretty tired of these shakes. Help!

    1. Veronica Page

      Veronica Page

maybe since you are just feeling the restriction you should try some high protein liquids to get those in and then really really chew your food. I know that when I first started I had to bite, chew and wait and min or two to make sure I wasn't over doing it. Try a work out plan to lost some weight, a lot of people weight til they have lost significant amount of weight but I feel that the sooner you start the healthier you are and easier it becomes over time. The more muscle you add the more calories you burn and since muscle is leaner you looker thinner when weight loss isn't happening!

It looks like I'm having to go in and take some fluid out because I was up all night throwing up and can't seem to get anything down. Not even water! This has been the worst thus far. :/

  10. Had my 3-month (really, 3.5-month) follow-up appointment with my surgeon this morning. I've exceeded his one-year weight loss goal. He kept saying, "Wow!" and "Amazing!" Made me feel pretty good, as I'm still having a lot of trouble wrapping my mind around my weight loss.

I'm chronically tired too now due to my anemia which has gotten worst so I think that has something to do with it!

My clothing doesn't feel like it is any looser. I also havent been getting enough water. I haven't taken very good care of myself the past week and a half and I need to get back on track. I admit I do need to start measuring, though.

  15. 5 days in my pre-op diet. Wednesday I will be having a conversion from the sleeve to bypass. I've had a rough go with acid reflux since the sleeve. I have to get my gallbladder removed also because I now have stones. When I started out on my journey I was 275lbs. Since the sleeve back in 2011 my lowest weight has been 223lbs and now I am at 239lbs. I still can't eat much of anything. Please keep me in your prayers as I go thru this one last time.

I was told by specialist after specialist that I would get rid of all the joint and muscle pain after I lost weight. Not one had a suggestion as to how to do that when I could barely walk across the room. A girlfriend messaged me and told me about the sleeve. I hadn’t my sleeve in August of. 2015. Lost almost 90lbs and gained back almost 30in the last year after a serious medical issue. I’m back and I’m going to lose it for good this time.

From a 'Butter-pillar' to a 'Catter-fly'! LOL! Under Reconstruction and Improved Management. The weight of my flesh has been a burden for 42 years since the age of 5 and half when my parents & I were transferred from Germany (U.S. Army Brat) to Ft. Lewis, WA the Summer of '75. That's when my pituitary glands jumped the track. Oh I was born 6lbs. 7oz, but in 1976 (by this time we were stationed in Maryland) because my mom was befuddled as to why her little Jenny was busting out all over; esp. in the chest area as well as gaining wt. So at age 6 I was diagnosed by a Captain that was a pediatrician that saw cases like mine overseas. I had PRECOCIOUS PUBERTY. Couldn't stop my inherited DNA either. So you couldn't stop this runaway freight train and the only casualty in this wreck was me. I was a physically active girl, ate about the same as any other kid & later adolescent. But my body wasn't breaking down anything. Frustrated from that along with being bullied and beaten up almost ritualistically, and humiliated by family members, I was suicidal by age 9. Only 2 dear elem. school friends kept me sane... and alive; but they never knew that. Well into teendom, young adulthood, womanhood, i was bulimic, I worked out, I starved. You name it. Desperation makes you do/ try anything. The only thing shrinking was my bank account. Long story short, it wasn't until I was 45 & practically destitute, sickly and agoraphobic after ballooning up even moreso in weight and suffering 2 very bad falls, I qualified for Medicaid/ Care Source Ins. and my first case worked pleaded with Visiting Physicians Assn. to accept me in their care, esp. since I can't drive (no license but have had a Passport since I was 10mos. old). My 1st PCP had mobile x-ray techs, and other specialist come to my apt. In the end I finally learned I not only had HYPOthyroidism, but that it was UNDER developed. My vindication & Redemption. I cried because I knew it had to be something that contributed to the maddening weight gain, the yo-yo'ing. I was never an over eater. So all of my earlier, healthy, traditional weight loss methods for decades failed because of this culprit. Add insult to injury I became type 2 diabetic at 44/45 too. I refused insulin. Telling them I'll do my damnedest to lose what I can and reduce my blood sugar through altering my food consumption & with exercise from a phys. therapist that came to my flat. I was too hvy for my frame to exercise properly, walking was chore, especially with bone loss to boot. And I was, and still am, self conscious being seen by people. Having lived in NYC you'd think I could handle masses of people. But I can't. But I'm learning. Slow & steady. With all my efforts and my necessary "surgical intervention", and those doctors, therapists, nurses & personal assistants and my BFF, I can LIVE & live better and healthier, not merely exist. Also, I no longer have type 2 diabetes, but I still test because I'm 'prone' to it. Better safe than sorry. People don't live long in, what remains of, my family. So I have to live. My nieces/ great and great-great nieces look up to & stay in touch with me always. I need to do right by my standards, give them someone to look up to, and do special things to honor my late husband whom i lost 16 yrs ago in 2003, but I couldn't at that time. I currently started at Planet Fitness & go super early to avoid crowds and will restart my aqua therapy late fall of 2019. Desperately trying to lose more & more weight so I can 1. get a receptionist job outside my apartment to earn a real paycheck and 2, have skin removal surgery w/ breast reduction & lift. Then COOL SCULPTING much later after that. Btw, the gent in the tux w/ me in pink (2010) is an ex bf, NOT my wonderful late husband, Michael. He's the one standing next to me in the dark blue denim 2 pc dress on my niece's deck outside in 2002 immediately after breakky [as you can see by his tummy. It was gone by 1pm that day]. He was the sweetest English muffin I ever met LOL! (he was a Londoner, a published author and my former boss ). And my greatest supporter of my aspirations. So that being said, enjoy my pics. Toodles!
