This maybe TMI but maybe someone else will learn
ppressey24 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im sorry for having to write this and yes its a TMI story but since i had my surgery on the 4 of oct, i mayve had 3 bowel movements. My digestive system was already slow before i had the surgery but now its really bad. Its acting like nothing in and nothing coming out. I suffer from IBS with constipation and omg, it has gotten bad. Ive had to come to the er tonight because earlier today i had the feeling that i had to go but when i tried, i had to strain. While straining, i felt this pain in my lower right stomach, real pain like cutting pain. I only went alittle. But when i got up, there was blood everywhere. I passed out. Rushed to the hospital and they called in a gastrointestinal specialist. Now, more surgery. Theyve said that because ive had 3 c sections when i had my 2 sets of twins and 1 single that i developed idhesions that have wrapped around my bowel making it hard to do #2. So off to surgery in the am. AGAIN. Youve never met someone that just wanna poop....lol. Hopefully after this i will become regular. Ill update you guys once they put me in my room. This is another 3day stay but hey atleast ill have problem solved. Hope this wasnt to much...goodnight Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -

This really resonated. Perhaps TMI but recently during sex I caught sight of myself in the mirror and instantly started judging my floppy bits, the loose skin, the rolls. Fascinating that after losing 50 kilos I can still judge myself so harshly. I, too, get compliments on almost a daily basis. I also get attention from men that I didn't get before though I am hopeful that is more about increased confidence and happiness than simply weight. Because it almost hurts to realise just what I looked like. I see photos from a year ago and can't quite believe that was me. I am shocked seeing just how fat I got. And I view the old me the same way I am now seeing other obese people. With shock, with interest, with some compassion but, sadly, with a dose of judgement too. I notice how aware I become of what others are eating and I can see people as big as I was eating as I used to, mindlessly, unconsciously. It is troubling but I say nothing, I know there is nothing to say. I went through a stage early one post surgery where watching people eat actually made me feel sick. Now it can make me sad.

Okay so I apologize in advance for the TMI.... I am on liquid diet day 4 and have been struggling with running to the bathroom after every drink (even water) and veggie. I’m allowed to have 4 protein shakes and 2 cups of veggies (only broccoli, green pepper, lettuce, cucumbers, or celery). Every time I consume something it feels like glass inside my intestines and I have to run to the toilet. It’s literally like liquid in, liquid out. Does this happen to anyone else? They warned me that I might experience constipation because of the lack of fibre but this is the exact opposite. i have a road trip to go on this weekend and I’m scared that I will have to pull over every 15 min! sorry for the details lol

Ok, maybe this is way too much TMI but what about when he... You know... I guess we have to spit it out because it may be too much at first?

Ok I have a different twist. Before my surgery, I really enjoyed sex. I was big but everything was filled out. My big boobs had my big belly to rest on. The skin was tight, it was filled with fat but it was tight. I knew what positions worked for me and my at the time boyfriend had no complaints with my sexual confidence. Now 77lbs later, when my legs go up the loose skin comes down, we aren't gonna discuss the boobs during Dawg...lol, my apron makes more noise than I ever could. My new boyfriend says he could care less about any of that stuff he adores my body extra skin ad all but I know my confidence is down and it's effecting my enjoyment. I still have the desire and all the hormones are doing there job, I'm in a mind funk!! I'm glad I'm healthy and would not change anything I've been thru but I wasn't ready for this part of the post op. Thanks for letting me rant and sorry if that was a bit Tmi for some of y'all. Does anyone else feel that way??

I'm So Gassy And Need Some Tips On How To Get Rid Of It.
Fiddleman replied to Adahlia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had/ have the same problem. On another thread, someone suggested it might be caused by the I digested sugar alcohols hat are in the sugar free foods we eat or drink. I'm not sure there is much we can do about it, but probiotics or a superfood powder product might help with digestion issues. I have noticed that since I have been taking miralax daily and taking a serving of superfood powder every day, the gas has gone way down. Between month 2 and 4, the gas was really bad for me and had a methane smell (TMI!!!) -
Ok so last night I decided to have some Soup 4 days post op, it was actually clam chowder and I went ahead ahead and had a bowl which is like half the can of Progresso. I consumed the entire bowl (potatoes and all) and made sure to chewed up everything finely. Then over night I had a stomach ache that appeared to be trapped gas, I took my gas drops this morning, along with some more hydro-codone (from the overnight sleeping aches I've been getting) and also tried to release some gas (sorry if TMI) and the pain still insist until now (the next day at 3:30). I know I'm already messing up, not draining the soup but does anyone think this dull ache is from the full soup consumption or could it be due to the fact that I have yet to have a BM? Surgery was 5 months ago Thanksgiving day. I've lost 43 lbs. To begin with things were fairly normal after surgery. Now I am noticing that am tootin a lot- I mean all the time! It's not just when I eat veggies like broccoli or things like Beans. It makes no difference what I eat I am gassy. I burp rarely, but toot likily thousands of times a day. Thanks goodness I have my own office. I know TMI- it doesn't smell, but it's just annoying and I am always scared it will slip out when someone walks in. Anyone else having these issues? Would Beano help?

Awesome, I thought I was alone with this whole pureed thing! Good to know that I don't really have to do the pureed foods! I am 4 wks out and struggling with this phase. Every time I've tried pureed meat I vomit (sorry TMI) I think I will take a different approach now! Thanks!!

14 hrs post op, gas pain but wont let me take gasx
CheleLynn45 replied to nprcowboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I truly believe walking saved me with the gas pains. I was walking as soon as I could after surgery and every couple hours after that. I am almost two weeks post op and really never had gas pains. I must have been moving the gas pretty well cause I was "tooting" once I got home. LOL (sorry if TMI) So get out there and walk, do whatever you can. When I first got home I walked around the house in 15 min increments and as I felt better and steadier I went outside and went longer everytime. Two days ago I went back to the gym and did an hour straight on the treadmill. It felt good but I was tired. -
See I feel constipated but went twice yesterday (sorry tmi) so I thought I was ok but I guess I'll start a stool softener to be safe. Highest Weight: 511lbs Pre Surgery: 435lbs Current Weight: 397

Ok, I had my first fill a week ago. Today I have diarreah. So I haven't eaten much. Drank a purple gatorade this morning. Then I notice my diarreah has been bright greenish blue for the rest of the day. Ok, I thought it was the gatorade - then I remembered someone saying that the saline was blue in color. Now I'm kinda worried. Could something be wrong with my band? Has anyone ever experienced this?

dairy free protein shake?
Nicole K replied to Natasha K's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I had the same thing. I changed to fat free lactose free milk with the shakes and diarrhea ceased. Thank god! I do still go poop 2 times a day but they are more solid (sorry TMI)! DOS 12/17/12 -
Dumping after eating
1unknownperson replied to LynnFromCT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope.. Not here... More like constipation here, but it's always been like that for me so it's nothing new... My Daughter has what you mention every since her gall bladder came out 4 years ago... Okay, TMI here, but I love to get on a scale before and after I go! I seriously can lose as much as 2 to 5 pounds at once! No Exxageration... Okay that was pre band... Now since I'm eating less, it's closer to 1.5 to 2 pounds... Thats going twice a week... -
Day 3 Milestone (TMI Post-Warning)
Mike4132 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys are right, each day has gotten better since surgery and so far day 3 has been no different, although this is the day it got ALOT better! Last night I was in pain again so I took lortab and a couple Gas-X strips before going to bed. I knew the lortab would help me sleep but didn't have a lot of faith in the Gas-X accomplishing anything. Wow, was I wrong! 4 hours later I literally woke myself up in the middle of the night with the greatest passing of wind the world has probably ever known. Seriously, I wish I had a stopwatch handy because it had to have been some kind of record for the sheer duration of it. I can't say my wife was as impressed as I was but my dog certainly seemed to be. And just like that, almost all my pain was gone! The new only pain I feel now is the incisions and that is very minor and completely tolerable. Sorry to be crude but this was a milestone in feeling better for me and I'm just sharing my experiences as they come. I hope the rest of you who have had surgery recently are feeling better today also. -
What Shakes Did You Use For Your Pre Op 3 Shakes A Day
Dooter replied to newgrandmother's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc gave me a choice of BariEssentials or Optifast. I chose the BE, and I got 4 a day if i used skim milk, and 5 a day if I used water to mix it. The thing they are trying to accomplish with the pre op liquid diet is shrinking the liver. Weight loss is a bonus, but they really need that liver out of the way so they don't damage it during the surgery. If it is too big, they will either cancel the surgery, or convert to an open incision where they can manually retract the liver out of the way. TMI?? -
Okay so I'm 3 1/2 months post-op and I'm currently in a stall. It's not bothering me too much because I'm still seeing changes so I'm just going to try keep hydrated, lots of Protein and exercise. But, I am just feeling really down. I had my 3 month check up last week and she said I need to eat more.. Being told all my life to eat less and now it's suddenly reversed. I feel like I cant physically eat more. The little that I do eat seems like far too much. But I'm trying, it just doesn't help that people are trying to force me when they don't understand (friends and family etc). Also, I've damaged the nerves in my stomach apparently? From the surgery and it'll be numb and sore for a long while so that makes me feel worse. Oh and I'm constipated (sorry for the tmi) I just can't go so I feel bloated. I don't know, I guess I'm just so down and it's all getting to me. I'm so grateful for this operation I don't want to seem rude, it's life changing. I just hope things start getting better. Has anyone else felt so down so soon after the vsg? Please let me know. Thank you.

2nd week post-op stall... NOW I understand how y'all feel. :-(
Catgyrl68 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op weight on 1/10 (prior to liquid fast) was 233. Date of surgery weight (1/18) was 225. Post-op appointment weight on 1/24 was 219, for a total of 14 pounds down (YAY!). Fast forward to today, almost 2 weeks out... NO LOSS AT ALL. I've been getting in my Protein and liquids, and even exercising (and feeling great doing it), but that damn scale won't budge. I suppose I have another addiction to add to my list: scale addiction. A bit TMI, but I really have only had 2 "good" BM's since surgery. That could be the problem, too. Trying the Dulcolax he prescribed, but that doesn't seem to be working. Any other slow losers there that can give me words of encouragement? Or, am I just being impatient? LOL -
I just saw a Poise commercial and I realized that it's been 2 weeks since my surgery and since Spring has come to the Pacific North West my allergies are in full swing AND I am no longer wetting myself when I sneeze. Hehehe, sorry if it's TMI for some.

Hello I have been "trolling" the site for a while now as I had been preparing this spring to be sleeved this June, which I was last Tuesday 6-7-11. I've been working with Blue Point Surgical group in Woodbridge, VA if there are any local Virginia-ites. I have had a really great experience with them over the past 6 months. I'm a little over a week out and so far so good (I think). Based on what I'm reading on the site I think I'm experiencing the normal post-op symptoms for just one week out. Gas, stomach REALLY bloated, "bathroom" trouble (without TMI), trouble getting in enough Protein, every day gets a little better. I'm trying to experiment with different protein sources, I'm looking for "juice" type sources because chocolate/shake types don't do it for me. Isopure ready-to-drinks get BIG thumbs down, so I have some nectar samples to try, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soups and unflavored Unjury. Unflavored whey is mixing into yogurt, but it's got a funky taste. So goes this new life of tiny stomach! I look forward to this swelling going away. I am focusing on sipping more every day, but I'm not sure how long it will take for this swelling to go down. A month? Two? My dietician did not put me on Clear liquids for 10 days post op like some of the posters here are saying, but puts patients on full liquids a few days post op. Yogurt, Jello, pudding and light Soup is about all I can take other than Water. I'm starting a blog about my experience. I won't say that it's unique but it's a way to express myself Cheers, SS http://summersleeve.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone, I'm finally back for an update! I had been in the typical stall for quite some time, so was hesitant to post too much and come across pessimistic. Here's a recap. Had my surgery January 9th in Mexico. BMI was 29, weighed in at 153.4 (only 5'1) on January 1st when I started my pre-op. I had an easy pre-op, basically just did Protein shakes for Breakfast and lunch and then veggies and chicken for dinner. Three days before surgery was yogurt only diet, but I did add a Protein shake once a day just to keep my protein up and my carbs down. Day of surgery I weighed 148.4 lbs, which put my BMI at 28. I went down to Mexico on the day of surgery and spent a few days in San Diego afterwards. First time I weighed myself on my home scale I was 139.2 and that was on January 17th. Jan 18 - 137.2 Jan 19 - 137.0 Then my weight started to bounce around and stall out so I stopped weighing daily. Feb 1 - 137.6. I started working out Feb 1, scale was still moving super slow, so again just weighed every once in a while Feb 5 - 136.0 Feb 23 - 135.2 Then I went on vacation to California. Just got back last night and I weighed in this morning at .... 129.0!!!!!! That puts me at a BMI of 24.4, the high end of NORMAL WEIGHT. Why did I finally drop? I don't exactly know, but here's two things that probably helped. 1. I ate out a lot, and although I didn't eat lots at a time, my calories were definitely higher, so I think that actually helped boost my metabolism. 2. I got super sick the second last night, stuck in the bathroom (sorry if this is TMI - but basically all night pooping and puking --- although it was mostly dry heaving since there was no food in me). So I probably am down quite a bit of Water weight, and fully expect I may gain a couple pounds once I get hydrated again and eating somewhat normal. Anyways, I just wanted to post an update since it's been a while, and I feel like I may have finally broken this stall. I am less than 6 lbs above my lowest weight as an adult. Still 14 lbs above my goal weight, but that being said, I am looking forward to increasing my exercise and putting on muscle, so realize it may be difficult for the scale to drop steadily if I'm toning up. Hope everyone else is doing well! --I am going to copy and paste this post to a few of the other "low BMI" threads, so sorry for the repeat to those of you that follow those threads as well--

so i had my surgery on the 18th, everything went well, no complications, got discharged the next day. told me that if i dont go to the bathroom by sunday to take mirolax. so i did half dose last night& the rest this morning. i just wanna know if anyone has any suggestions that will make me go to the bathroom. sorry if its a bit tmi but its scaring me because i am in discomfort from being bloated and it makes me not want my protein shakes, and me not having protein shakes makes me incredibly dizzy and weak, which makes me unable to walk a lot which is what i should be doing to let the gas out. i just wanna know if anyone had this same problem and what would they recommend

First, I am calling my general practioner today so I am seeking medical help. I just would like to know how common this is and if anyone has been there, done that. My surgery was 22 days ago. I was able to go to the restroom without any assistance on day 3. Since then, my body has given me no urge to go. Last Tuesday, I called my bariatric surgeon hoping go get some prescription laxatives, as milk of magnesia did not help. They told me they don't prescribe laxatives, but to go to the ER if I hadn't gone by Thursday and ask them to look for a blockage. Thursday came and no oral laxatives had worked. I used a Ducalax suppository and nothing. I used one more and got some relief, but there was not the amount I would have expected. Gross, I know, sorry. Sunday night, I used another Ducalax suppository and was able to go a tiny amount. I can pass gas but have no urge to go without assistance. Oral laxatives don't seem to do much but cause cramping. My husband wonders if it's perhaps normal and I am not pooping a lot because my input is so much lower and my body is using all that I take in as fuel? My weight loss is only 10 lbs in three weeks so I'm wondering if I'm not literally full of it. When I go to the dr, If they look for a blockage, is that via X-ray? This part is so not fun.
