Had to shopping this weekend to buy a dress for a friends wedding. The last time I had to buy a dress I was crying, because I couldn't find anything in my size. Anyway, I found not only 1 dress but 3 dresses that fit and looked great and they were Size 12 I was 18's. (Since Oct). I also bought 2 medium shirts (from Charlotte Russe). I would have never tried these sizes because I still don't see what everybody else sees, and my weight has stayed pretty much the same for the last month, (my friend made me). I was so excited. It upped my motivation again.

I guess this comes under the heading of a NSV! I took a bath this morning for the first time in years. Not only did I get into the tub, more importantly, I got OUT of the tub by turning over onto my hands and knees to get up! I was amazed that I could maneuver my body around like that! Also, my pants are way toooo big! Sent from my iPhone using VST

This is where the thread for the before and after pics are : http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/5-general-sleeve-surgery-discussion/ There is also a thread asking the guys to show their stuff, lol in the NSV part but they hardly post anything there either. -
Well, I received a great NSV this week from the results of my blood work, it was my 3 month post op appointment. I have my Diabetes completely under control now with no medication. My A1C test ( 3 month blood sugar average) was 10.2 before surgery, it is now down to 6.3. My Cholesterol was 237 before surgery, it is now 138. My triglycerides were 286 before surgery, they are now 96. The sleeve has been such a great tool to provide the restriction needed to lose weight. I say tool because you still have to eat right and exercise but it is doing its job. I take no medication at all and I feel great. I am well on my way to my goal weight with 65 lbs lost as of today . If I did not lose another pound, this has already been a huge success for me.

This morning I was trying to decide what to wear.......my closet is getting skimpy since a lot of stuff is too big now......but I pulled out an old pair of size 14 capri's and they fit perfect!!! I was wearing a size 20 to 22 before surgery and that was less than 3 months ago!!! Yay me!!!

Its starting to get real now...I had the final psych visit, tomorrow is the nutrionist and June 2nd I meet the surgeon and they send my paperwork in for approval. In the mean time it seems like I am just waiting for my "real life" to begin. Waiting to be one the other side of the surgery losing weight and posting my NSVs, stats and pics. This surgery has been soooo many years in the making and now that I can finally taste it, I find myself waiting for the pot to boil. It reminds me of being pregnant except I can't go shopping for stuff yet. to bide my time. I am just READY! My husband and I are doing this together so our lives as a family is going to change and I just want it to be here. I know, I know...whining doesn't do any good but it does make me feel better. Good luck to all those in the state of waiting!

That's a huge NSV! Congrats!!

I have this killer LBD. I've had it for a while, but I've only worn it out once. It's made of a thick stretchy fabric, and I love the way it hugs my hips and bottom and comes in at the waist. It's the ultimate hourglass shape. The only thing I don't like is the way it clings to my stomach. When I wore it out before, I put something on over the dress to cover my tummy, but that pretty much defeated the purpose of the dress. I decided that I would wear the dress again only after I'd lost a little weight and my stomach wasn't trying so hard to be the star of the show. Fast forward to just a few minutes ago. I went to my closet to try the dress on. I keep it on the hanger nearest the closet door, and when I walk in it's the first article of clothing that I see. It taunts me hanging there all smug, waiting for the body I wish I had. I took it off the hanger, stepped into the dress, tugged up the zipper, and looked at myself in the mirror. It still doesn't fit! All of this work and the stupid dress doesn't fit. It's too big. How's that for an NSV? My little black dress doesn't seem so little anymore!

Oh, yeah!! What an amazing NSV! To look good and be pleased about how you look in clothes.

Another in a string of non-scale victories (which is good, because the scale has been lazy lately). I was putting fresh sheets on the bed and when I flicked my wrist, smoothing the sheets out, my wedding ring flew off. It's been feeling loose for a few weeks, but this time it flew across the room and hit the wall. I don't want to get it sized yet, because I'm only about halfway done losing weight, but I guess I'll move the ring to my middle finger for now. Yay!

Ladies this one is just for you... I had to pick up a pair of panty hose...I used to have to buy Plus size because the Queen size didnt fit any more. Today I looked at the back of the package and... I wear a size A now! Almost cried in the store. -

NancyJerry replied to waistnaway's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is almost time for me to get mine resized, too. I think I'm going to do like someone else said and put it up until I reach goal so I only have to do it once. Congrats on your NSV!! -

I am 7 weeks out and finally (and slowly) adding regular food back into my diet (I couldn't be more excited to finally get a salad LOL). I went through the whole 3-4 week stall and got over it. But my biggest triumph has been the revelation that my relationship with food has changed...and continues to change!!!! The holidays could not be a more perfect a time for this to happen. I attended an office party yesterday and watched my co-workers (large, small and in between pile food onto their plates and into their mouths....and instead of feeling bad about the fact that I was eating so little, I just kept thinking "Wow, that's soooo much food"!!! It's hard to believe that I used to eat like that and it's even harder to imagine eating like that again!! And even if I didn't lose another pound, my new relationship with food makes it ALL worth it!!

One Really Weird Nsv (And An Awesome One)
keldolbeth posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Down 105 pounds and finding more comfortable sitting positions at work. I can cross my legs under my desk, almost indian-style too. Today I had slipped my shoes off under my desk and crossed my leg underneath me. Then BAM! I slammed my toe into my desk drawer! My toenail ripped halfway off and started bleeding. Hurts like ___! Some might not see this as an NSV but before I only had one position I could sit in at work. It just made me laugh and think about how many little things we don't realize are affected when we lose weight! And, an awesome one... took the trainer at my gym up on her offer of one free session. I REALLY need to learn how to tone more. We did upper body and abs today. I was so impressed with what I could do! She kept demonstrating things and I thought there was no way in hell it would happen and then BAM (but a good bam this time) I'd be in that position. She kept having me sit on a ball and walk out so only my neck and head were on the ball and I had to lift my hips up and support myself with my quads and abs. I was shocked! There were still things I had trouble with or couldn't do but I gave it my all! (And she convinced me to sign up- and pay- for more sessions!) Never in my life did I think I would work with a trainer, I was always too self-conscious. -

12 Weeks Post-Op Success
TheRealMeIsHere! replied to Bypassjourney's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm so happy for you. The little NSV's are awesome, aren't they? I had surgery the week before you and as far as weight lost and size lost we are fairly close, I'm down 42 lbs since 1/23. I love going through my clothes I saved ("because I won't be fat forever" is what I would tell myself). My 16's are getting loose and some 14's now fit. I too feel amazing, energy and confidence is way up! Everyday, I LOVE my sleeve. There are days that I feel like I will 'pig out', but after a few bites, my sleeve tells me I am done. Thank you, sleeve.
