  1. 3.5 weeks post banding...doing well, swelling is gone, hunger is back :( but fill is scheduled for next week!

  2. Yesterday was 2 weeks since surgery! Still getting used to not drinking while eating. Really sick of protein shakes :(

  3. Ok.. got things straightened out w/the psychologist...FINALLY!! She is going to submit my eval tomorrow and I will be submitted to insurance. I can't believe it..but I am actually a little nervous. I know it's only insurance, but if it goes through as fast as I'm seeing others go through, this will be the blink of an eye. O well..take it as it comes! Hope you all are in the midst of a fabulous week!

  4. post op visit today and all the stapels came out few of them HURT!!!!!!!!!! But other than that everything is looking good. Lost 8 pounds since last Monday. Get to go back in 5 weeks for my first fill.

  5. Hey there! I'm slackin on my posts now that I'm back to work. I'm feeling great. Almost back to normal. I feel like my port site is a little lump, too. It's certainly not flat. It's probably still a bit swollen...I'm sure we are ok. I'm down a total of 17 pounds as of today. 9 from pre-op diet and 8 since surgery. YAHOO! I'm starting get a little more hungry than in the beginning, but the shakes are still keeping me satisfied. I sure do look forward to some real food that I can CHEW though. I'm looking forward to seeing you next week at our class. I can't wait to hear what foods we'll be able to add to our diet now! I think we should get our first fill at 4 weeks. I think that is going to REALLY make a difference in our hunger. I long for the days that we can eat of few bites and call it quits and be HAPPY with that! AAaahhhh, this is going to be AMAZING!!!!

  6. Enjoy your cooking session hun, i think part of the band is about experimenting which foods you can and cant have. Im sure you will make lots of yummy things....let me know what you make....you may give me some inspiration lol lol

Wow your food bill has really gone down...im sure what you woud normally have in a day would last you for the week lol lol

    enjoy your tea babe xxx

  7. new 'me's' are something so good to look forward arent they?!

im on mushies, but soup is part of all the stages, so i am having soup for my lunch, yoghurt for my breakfast and then having 1tbsp pureed chicken, 1tbsp pureed potato and caarrot for my evening meal.

i can start soft food tomorrow, but i will start on saturday, looking forward to having scrambled egg, rice and peas the most!!!

my first fill isnt booked yet, i see the nurse again a week tomorrow, and i will be weighed and measured then. its estimated that my first fill will be the end of september. as my surgeon doesnt do them until 8 weeks. however, even though i am on mushies, i am still never hungry. so maybe i will be someone who only needs one fill or maybe me being hungry will suddenly arrive!!

    hope your ok

  8. Can you believe we've been banded a week already! I had a bad moment last night with food!

  9. He has said that I can have V8, I think I will try that. Did you ever cheat when you were on your first two weeks? Tonight I slipped onto the dark side and I eat a couple of tiny pieces of taco meat! I know that was bad! I had such a weak moment!!!!! I can't believe I did that! I started feeling so hungry tonight!

  10. Thanks girl!! 15 pounds of that was lost in the 2 weeks before surgery, but i just add it into my total because it was still a loss :) I get my first fill next week..i'm nervous and excited. I hope it will help my hungry tummy not be so hungry!! My surgeon doesn't fill for the first time until 12 weeks post op.. I don't know why, but i trust him, so i;m hanging in there and just eating the right things.. I'm counting down the days :)

  11. oh no!!! I hope everything is ok! Congrats on the weight loss! I haven't lost any weight in the last 3 weeks, although I haven't gone to the gym once, and am always REALLY hungry, i've been so busy though i haven't really had any time to let it bother me yet, and at least i haven't gained any weight. I hope everything is going good!

  12. Hey, first, I just want to say that you look absolutely terrific! If you don't mind me asking, how much weight did you lose on average in a week or month? I just had my band on 6/28/08, and I've only lost 17 pounds. I feel like sometimes I can eat more than I should be able to, and other times I feel like I can't eat anything without hurting, but I feel like I should have lost more than I have. Should I, or am I doing ok? Is it time for another fill?

  13. sounds like you have had a better week then me lol. i just blew dry my hair for the first time all week hee hee. today im a bit better, stronger. was supposed to go to work tomorrow night but theres no way. hope all is well.

  14. Your right about the walking I do allot of it, it helps and makes you feel so much better. It's just so boring lol me and my four cats lol....they are driving me nuts. This week is hard but I will get though it. I know next week will be better.

Thank you for all your help I need. O one thing...did you get like sad the first few days? I cried allot today I don't know why. I felt so blue. It's past now but I just felt so sad. I had Home Car Visiting Nurse out to check on me today that was great my blood pressure was so prefect and it hasn't been in years lol. Now how are you doing? How much weight have you lost now? How is your health?

    Lisa

Stay in touch and let me know how you are doing. Jenhay

  16. Are u exercising? I am off and on approx. 3 days a week for at least a 1/2 hour. I know I need to pick up the pace.

  17. Hi USAGoosie...

I was just looking at my profile stuff and found that you had left me a message a couple of weeks ago. I'm sorry I didn't answer earlier - I didn't know that page existed.

Anyway - yes, I am going through Dr. Leport's program at Orange Coast Memorial. Dr. Leport is my doctor and I have to go to the hospital tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. for surgery. I'm so excited I can't contain myself.

I would love to be support buddies - I'll try to remember to check this section of the site.

  18. hey friend.. how has your week been?? I hope you don't mind but I am really in need of an ear and the forums are weird today.. someone on the preop diet is eating at bk every night,, another girl is PO'd about the preop diet and thinks we should be able to have an "EATFEST" before surgery.. I'm struggling to stay under 1500 cals,, let alone 1000 with shakes and its scaring me.. I have had a rough week with food,, pain in my legs and no one to yap with.. seems everyone has something going on..

How did you manage to get through to your surgery without going insane?? Did you have a long wait?? I have stockpiled a bunch of books, started working on my family photo scanning again, and have been going to bed when the munchies hit.. Weird thing is I haven't craved bread or sweets for quite awhile and even after eating them feel disinterested.. The only thing that tastes good is salad but I have to cook for my family.. I did eat at friendlys.. salad with grilled chicken, it was blahhh though and I left hungry and sad.. lol

okay,, so tell me something you did that motivated yourself and I won't bore you with my blahhhs..

    thanks!!!

    Donna

  19. hey Sarah!

  20. Your funny.. one of my friends and I have a joke between us that we need a wife.. someone just like us who loves to clean and do the daily stuff so we could enjoy our kids more, and not have all the stress..

I actually cried through most of that video, especially the parts involving the young man and his family. They were of no help to him at all, even his mother. MY dad is 85 and when I came to work with him 4 yrs ago he constantly made comments about my weight, and even commented that he never saw me really overeating or binging on junk. Still he would make comments to me about losing weight and how I wasn't like that when I was young. I finally told him I had enough, he was not helping and made me feel horrible with his comments, and to leave my brother alone too. He rarely visits anymore and doesn't need to hear the same tirade from my father hes been hearing for 35 years. He is not a cruel or mean man by nature, but it is one subject that bothers him, mostly because our family health issues are overwhelming.

There really has to be a link somewhere with our genes and the way we are wired. My mothers mother was obese. I have never seen a picture of her where she wasn't. My aunts and uncles say she never overate, walked everywhere (born 1898) and even during the depression when food was scarce she still couldn't lose weight.. In 1952 my mother was pregnant with my 2nd oldest brother and my grandmother was determined to lose weight. She went to the doctor to get some help and figured she was paying for the advice so she would do twice as much as he wanted her to and eat even less. She got a cold and her immune system couldn't fight it and she died of pnemonia in 1953. My mother couldn't breast feed anymore and my brother has always had emotional problems and used to self medicate.. I am the youngest of 8. Three of us are morbidly obese, my sister has lost some because she has chrons but never goes under 220 even though she never eats more then a cup of food at a time. It is the part that scares me about the band.. getting it and not losing.. Being realistic, I definately eat more then a cup of food in a serving now, and hope that I won't be able to when the band is in. Does it really give you that full feeling? I ask because I don't have that feeling ever. It stopped after I had a hysterectomy in 2006. The only way I know I am really full is when I need to throw up.. that is bad. For the past month I have tried to be more self aware and have done fairly well. I ate more yesterday then I normally do, but my blood sugar was all over the place and I was shaky. I ate white bread for the first time in 3 weeks and it made me sick... that was an eye opener.

Sorry to ramble.. My head is spinning from this new bit of info. I will probably watch some of it again, and want to give the link to my nutritionist, shes really awesome. She is even going to go to a lap band seminar so she can better understand the process. My insurance will pay for me to keep seeing her monthly because she works for my lipid specialist, and they both want to help me. I have hereditary cholesterol problems,, I am taking Crestor and it is the first thing that has lowered it in 7 years.

Thanks again for posting the link!!

    Donna

  21. Hello to my new best read site. I was just reading Lavetta's post and found it very informational. Thanks Lavetta. I not even a week ago had a hysterectomy and now am waiting for the go ahead from my Dr. for my lap band procedure. I hope that I can continue to get useful info from my new best friends as to what to exspect(?)

  22. Hi, I'm Debora. I had my Lap Band Surgery on June 10th, I can eat sometimes if it's soft food, but if I try to eat say a piece of fried chicken or ribs or catfish, I get sick. Is this normal and is it time for me to get my first fill. It will be 8 weeks tomorrow.

  23. Hi Claudine,

I was just reading your blogs! Have fun at the beach this weekend, I'm getting ready to start packing for my weeks vacation, three of those days will be at Pismo Beach (in Ca)...I can't wait, then were doing a couple of concerts (stone temple pilots and Fergie). Anywho!!! I'll be gone so I wanted to wish you the best of luck next Friday!!!

  24. Hi Sugar! I've not posted there in a few days. Unfortunately, I haven't done any jogging since Friday. The past two weeks have been a challenge on my schedule. I usually go out to exercise early in the morning before my husband leaves for work. The last two weeks he's had to go in early so I've not been able to exercise in the morning. We also started building a shed last week, so my evenings have been busy with that. I have been working out to my Turbo Jam DVD at home, but I've made no progress with the c25k. I had thought of giving it up, but I was reading everyone's progress and I don't want to quit! My husband is working nights the rest of this week so I will get a move on tomorrow, for sure. I'm going to go ahead and start week 3. I found week 2 easier than I'd anticipated, so I'm going to move ahead, or at least give it a shot!. Thanks for thinking of me. How are you doing on the c25k?
