I am sitting here in the tub trying to enjoy a hot bath. However, I am trying to find a comfortable way to sit. Where did all of these bones on the backside of my body come from? I keep moving around, but can't find anywhere that doesn't hurt to sit for more than a few minutes. NSV for sure!! What are some of your recent NSV?

Generating Inspiration
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to I will what I want's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had surgery in March. After I had lost about 30 pounds I cleaned my closet out. Top to bottom. Nothing went back in that did not fit. Items that were too big (yes, there were lots!!!!) I donated. Items that were too small went into my dream box. Now I walk into my closet and I know everything fits. I have a friend who tells me if something I wear is too large and I trust her so if she tells me it is too large it doesn't go back in. Then every 2 weeks I open the dream box and move items into the closet if they fit. It is a dream come true every morning to pick an outfit. It all fits!!!!!! Just earlier this week I noted the dream box was getting emptied and a friend came in the next day with clothes for me-most of which went into the dream box. I didn't tell a soul about my dream box or that it was getting empty! I have been stalled for like one month and yet clothes are still moving-so even if it is not success on the scale it is success in inches. This so motivates me. I also started an art journal with magazine pictures of outfits I like, bathing suits, thoughts on everything from what I am looking forward to or what I am experiencing and that is fun to create and to read. I record my NSVs too. That is motivating to me. -
Did the band make you re-evaluate your life not only with weight loss but everything? What have you done about it?
PrettyThick1 replied to EmilyMikulec's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This journey is as much psychological as it is physical. To have moments of epiphany and actually have the motivation to pursue greater is an NSV. You've conquered a major hurdle in your life and have overcome something that has plagued you for sometime. When these things occur, we realize we have regained lost power and belief in ourselves to do "the impossible". Congrats to you at this new moment of discovery, may there be many more moments of positive realization for you in the near future. -

Tried on a leather coat that was given to me 2 months ago and it did not come close to me being able to button it up....Well...Today I slipped it on and buttoned it up...It is still snug but I still buttoned it up....Can't wait to wear it...It is a large.....unbelievable! A red coat that I worn 3 different times in my life I have been able to wear for the last month.....Each time I wore it was a decade a part....Today it has become to big for me...The other 2 times it became to small for me...Guess I will have to send it to the thrift store....Oh dear! I am very happy with this situation!

My first NSV- 2 months after surgery
Moquarius posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been banded a little over 2 months and have lost 22 pounds to date. Although I am thrilled at the number, I have been discouraged at the fact that the scale has only moved 3-4 pounds in the past 4 weeks. I stumbled upon a picture at my friends babyshower, which was taken 2 weeks before my surgery and HOLY COW, I have my first NSV!!!:smile2:[/img] -
Yesterday I went with a friend who was sleeved yesterday. She had other friends there whom I did not know. They were concerned for her because they knew nothing of this surgery. I explained to them she will be fine because I also had the surgery from the same doc. They started laughing and said oh now that explains it cause girlfriend we were just discussing amonst ourselves that we don't know who this girl is but her dress is too big for her and she needs some new clothes lol.

I'm a teacher and I've always been the fat teacher. I work with inner city kids, so I've been called fat a$$ and other lovely names by some of my more precious darlings... Yesterday, my students today were talking about their teachers. One asked if the other had that "big girl." The other said no, I don't have any fat teachers. I have that student 2 times a day :-) apparently I'm not a fat teacher anymore!!! :-D Then I stopped the conversation because we don't talk about other people that way. In my head, I was dancing and celebrating tho!

I am going to consider this a NSV. I think I am actually on a regular schedule for my period! It has been probably 15 years since I have been any sort of regular. Going on three months now, and on schedule. Don't know why I am so excited lol I guess the whole waiting game of having it every few months before is gone.

Hubby And I Had A Nsv Together.
LiveStrong41 replied to caseyp's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Your post made me smile -what a great nsv! -
Not that! Lol! We went to the movies and sat right next to each other... Comfortably! instead of leaving a seat in between us. My mom did point out that between the two of us we've lost 110lbs. Pretty much that was like a 110lb person missing from the arm rest between us! Woot woot! I was banded aug 7, 2012. Hubby was banded Sept 25, 2012.

Are you sure she was being mean, or might she have been subtily telling you that you could now clearly fit in any chair? If she was being mean WHAT A WITCH and congrats for defeating the witchiness. Either way, Woohoo on your NSV! I keep waiting for my boss to realize that I don't switch out the chairs in his office any more. I used to always pull up a wider chair when I was sitting across from his desk, but now the ones that have the skinny arms are just fine. Feels so good. I'm flying this weekend and hope I have as good of an experience.

Who here has enjoyed the NSV of closet-shopping? I tried on some coats and suits that I had purchased on clearance a while back as "mini-goal" clothes and they fit great! They all still had the tags on them. They were great deals (like an Anne Klein suit coat and a pretty winter coat that makes me glad we still have snow here, actually). When I bought them, it seemed like just a dream that I might be able to wear them someday. I lost 20 lbs during a 6-month pre-op period and 20 lbs (as of today) since my VSG in early Feb. I am thinking for a couple of the better pieces, when I lose more I might actually get them tailored so I can wear a while longer. Has anyone else done this? What fun outfits have you found lately in your own closet?

Hi all, I decided right before my surgery (11/7/17) that I would not purchase a scale. I figured I will be weighed when it truly matters (in office ) and I would focus all of my attention on NSV. So far it feels wonderful not worrying about numbers and it allows me to build different goals like meal planning, water intake challenges and walking goals. I think I will only buy a scale if my doctor recommends . Anyone else on a similar path?

So I had to open up the office today, and was working with my GM. We were having a good time since things were slow, and killing a few hours watching glee on our laptops and just joking around since morning paperwork was finished. I stepped outside for a cigarette (bad Brandy!) and had some clients walk up. I didn't recognize them, but apparently they knew me. The gentleman in the group dropped his jaw and said "Brandy, is that you?! Oh my god girl I didn't even recognize you, how much weight have you dropped??" It's so nice to hear that from a stranger! It's one thing to hear it from your friends and family, but to hear it from a stranger really makes it real. I think we all need to appreciate these small things. They make the whole process seem real. Anyways, that's my NSV for the day!

That is so cool! But I'm such a NEWBIE!... What is NSV?

This is a nsv and a rave and tooting my own horn. I don't necessarily like bragging about myself so ill do it in a relatively anonymous place such as this. A few months ago, I submitted a proposal to do a workshop at a national convention I go to every year. I had convinced myself I didn't have enough credentials, enough letters after my name, etc and I would not get picked. I wrote my proposal in about an hour, sent it and forgot about it. So yesterday I got a letter stating they had approved me to do my workshop at the convention. I' was so shocked I just started to cry. It's not until April so I thankfully have lots of time to get prepared and be nervous. What an amazing week this has been. First I was sleeved now this! And the best part is I'm going to enjoy going shopping for a new outfit to wear to give the workshop! Yes, I'll be skinny by April! I'm just over the moon. Thank you all for letting me brag a little.

Last year my husband had a proceedure done and was not able to get around. Couldn't drive etc. Well I don't drive so my mode of transportation was walking. Last Summer I was 240lbs and could barely make it to the grocery store and back without feeling utterly exhausted to the point of almost wanting to collaps. Today I walked 2 miles and was fine afterwards. Its amazing the difference 64lbs makes! Oh and to reward myself, stopped at Off Broadway Shoes and got two pairs on sale for a total of 40 bucks LOL. I love my sleeve!

I was sleeved April 20 and was able to get back into the pool in mid-May. I initially wore the bathing suit I had left over from the end of last season. My birthday was in June so I ordered two suits for my birthday. One a size lower than last year's, and the second a size lower than that. Today, I finally tried on the second suit and it fit! For someone who started as such a high weight as I did there is a lot of room between bathing suit sizes so I consider this a big deal! Now, I need to watch the sales and order the next two sizes down do I will be prepared.
