    I Didn't Get STUCK!

I'm humbled to know I put a smile on anyone's face. Thank you for reading my posts!!! Don't even remind me of STEAK! I'm really sure I won't be able to have any after my last fill, but it's ok, I can live with that (for now). Last Summer, about a month and a half after surgery- you know, that time when you have lost more than ten pounds and have this sudden burst of confidence and you think you can do EVERYTHING you couldn't do before (including wearing a bathing suit) yeah, during that time I threw myself down a slide at the water park and made a damn fool of myself..... Mostly because I don't know how to swim. Apparently, I can't even find my footing in a 3ft pool at the end of a slide either. LoL. It's a great feeling having that "1" in front.... You'll get there!! LONG LIVE NSVs!!!!!!!

    December post ops

Had a nice NSV today... Needed shorts as none from last year fit. Tried Target first but nothing was fitting right and I didn't want to spend a lot. Headed to Goodwill...found 3 shorts a skort and 3 shirts. Shorts are 12 in name brands and 14 in Walmart/ target brands. I about fell over! Last summer I was wearing a very tight18 only cause I refused to go up to a 20. Shirts are all size L from anywhere. Feels nice to shop from regular sizes again. I never thought that would happen. Sometimes I still can't believe it's me when I look in the mirror.

    curb/fall/NSV?

@@MichiganChic yes, yes and yes to your above statements being overweight does contribute to many incidents/slips falls my mom ALWAYS "reminded" me of stuff like that anything that happens to you that is bad is because i was overweight probably if i got a splinter she would say its because............... fitting into chairs/booths/hospital gowns was/could frequently be a challange one NSV over a year ago.......... i remember sitting down to sit in the movie theater, and i went woa!!!! there was soooo much room on each side!!!! i said to my sister, they must be making these seats bigger now other time, same situation.... i was walking in the airplane aisle towards my seat, and i realized they also must have made the aisles wider then finally when i sat in the airplane seat - holy moly, there was so much room on each side of me!! like we all know - its the little things don't worry about me and Kohl's - we're attached at the hip you've lost 142 lbs!!!!! that is so amazing!!!! its wonderful how different you/me/we feel after losing weight keep up the great job (i know you will!!!) waiting for you to cross the goal/finish line i'll see you there kathy

    Share Your NSVs Here Please!

Love these NSVs! I posted this already but yesterday I got new jeans and I'm down from an 18 to a 12 in the same old brand. Yippee! Went to a birthday party last night and saw a couple of people who haven't seen me slowly shrinking. Fuss was made and I felt uncomfortable (very few people know about my band) but another part of me felt like it must all be real if others are noticing like that.

    March 2014 Sleevers

I had 3 NSVs at Disneyland yesterday: 1. My feet never hurt. Before surgery my feet would hurt within the first half hour. 2. I could go through the turnstiles without getting stuck for a couple seconds (which was always mortifying) 3. My boyfriend, daughter, and myself can all fit on Peter Pan! My boyfriend would always have to ride by himself because the three of us couldn't all fit together in one ship. Not to mention we weren't even squished, we were comfortable . Edit: Also noticed I am out of the 40s BMI range! Anyone else have any NSV's they want to share?

    curb/fall/NSV?

last week i fell at the curb leaving Kohl's i reallllly hurt luckily my ankle moved 'in"/twisted a bit, but all will well!!!! i am hurt and sore all over though so whats my NSV ???? unfortunately i have fallen before in similar situations it always took 2 people - with allll their strength to pull me up its hard to lift 235 lbs of dead weight now it only took 1 person to pull me up guess 130 lbs is much easier to "tug" at hubby came "running" from the parking lot toward me after i was already up after all was said and done, and i we were driving home my DH jokingly said something like "see what happens when you do soooo much shopping at Kohl's?" ********************************************************************* dr wanted me to get x-rays "just in case"........... i remember when i had WLS, and they handed me my gown...........i prayed it was big enough to cover all me what was i thinking??? they ONLY had big sized, cuz of course us big girls were having weight loss surgery this time iwent into the changing room, they had a regular sized gown that "normal" people wear could have been a model showing off how great i looked No NSV is too small all/any new experience is great my good life continues to get better and better At times i do on purpose remember sad things from my past that way i'm reminded how wonderful life is now one happy camper!!!! kathy

"Support Group" from rant to rave

Yep - brought back bad WW meeting flashbacks for me! LOL. I like the idea of an addiction therapist and a group session where convening is rotated. Nice - I'll start doing some looking around here. And I'm going because I've read those same studies! I want to find a group i'm likely to at least be willing to go back to, even if not always anxious to. It was good hearing people both talk about NSVs, losses, anniversaries AND frustrations and stalls and regains - even complications. All the same as is on this site pretty much, but in person. I can see though that you all are definitely where I'm more apt to turn! Thanks for letting me rant and rave!
  10. That tape is making a difference. Thanks to CBT again for the info. Today's NSV: I painted my toe nails!! When I was obese, I could reach then but my pannus made doing my own pedicures a chore. When I lost the weight, reaching my toes comfortably was difficult.. I could reach them but the pannus was in the way. Today I painted my toenails without lifting my stomach up. Without reaching around. I feel whole again

    Mini non scale victories :)

Remember these when the scale is not moving...the NSVs are very important!!! Speaking of shoes, my sandals are Birkies because I need the support, fortunately most of them have a buckle on them so I am able to tighten them up... I have to wear my wedding rings on my middle finger now... silly little things that make us smile... When I'm typing, I can look down at my hand and be reminded of what that middle finger ring thing really means
  12. Christmas of 2010 - I was at my future in laws meeting the family for the first time. I had lost about 75 lbs at this point (was banded before my sleeve revision). I had on my fav wool skirt, folded over cuz it was a 14 and I refused to acknowledge that I was smaller than a 14. While standing in the middle of the living room, amongst about 10 of my future in laws talking among themselves. BF (at the time, he's now my husband) commented to me that I needed to pull up my skirt. It was on the floor. I was aghast. Not 1 person noticed, they were all still deeply in conversation. I retired that skirt and found 1 exactly the same except in a 10. Now thats also gone by the wayside. Luv it when I pick out jeans and I KNOW they're way to small to ever fit me. But they do. It's amazing. Welcome to the land of NSV's. Hope u enjoy the ride...congrats!

Hair loss, evidence with picture and me bitching...

I am with you all... I love my flowers, and now that I have lost weight, I am more mobile and can dig in the soil again ...BIG NSV... I got my first bloom on my Joseph Coat rose yesterday...so pretty... the tulips were planted late, but they are still popping, so far... can't wait for everything to start blooming as this is a NEW garden in our new house... the previous owners didn't have one bush/shrub/plant in the yard ... not so anymore :)

  18. @@Scylla I think i saw your nurse in the movie "One Flew Over the Cukoos Nest"!!! i talked to my NUT and family dr and they both thought the boards are a great place to visit this board is very helpful listening to stories/tales about other sleevers experiences pre and post op situations IS great certain questions regarding coffee/caffein/drinking from a straw/soda......... people will answer questions by telling what THEIR nut told them and pass that info along but its usually pointed out to newbies like you that you should always listen to your surgeon or NUT or nurse (even if THEY are alittle NUTS!!) sometimes you need to go to your doc about medical issues that we're not that knowledgable about (again except me!!! ) we are here to give each other support/advice/info we all LOVE to talk about our bowel movements/or lack of -head hunger, stallls, sex....many other good stuff!!! you'll hear the great things that happens to "us" as we succeed through our voyage NSV's like being able to fit into smaller clothes, crossing your legs, going on an amusement park ride i can tell you are a smart "cookie" because you decided to change your life by having the sleeve good luck with pending surgery kathy

    New to the site

About 7 months post op I was telling a story to some co-workers and using my hands during a demonstrative moment. My wedding ring went flying across the room landing on someone's keyboard. Oy ... At this point, nobody at my work knew I had the surgery (they all know now) but of course, they knew I had been losing weight. It was a funny NSV. The problem was, my wedding ring was titanium, which can't be re-sized. I basically went without a ring for a year as I didn't know where my weight was going to settle. I have since purchased a new ring and it works for me. I am sad it is not my "wedding" ring, but I do still have the original up by the kitchen sink. Stores can always order a ring in your size and if not, if it is a pliable metal, they can re-size it.
  20. I got on a plane today. A Southwest Airlines plane. Any of you who have been over 300 pounds know that their seats are small and their seatbelts are even smaller. I FASTENED THE SEATBELT WITHOUT AN EXTENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, I didn't have to have the arm rest up!!!! I am so frickin' thrilled!!!!!!!!!!!! Since the scale isn't moving for me, these NSVs are a true blessing and make me smile from ear to ear!

I'm trying to come to terms with the idea that...

Thanks for this post. I'm going to Italy in 5-1/2 weeks. My big wish is that I will be able to fly without the seatbelt extender, and keep up with all the walking on our tours. I will also see my oldest daughter that day for the first time since the beginning of January, when she left for a semester abroad. I miss her so much and Skype is great, but it's still been very hard. My younger daughter helped me during my surgery week and then went back to college. I'll see her over Easter. They are two of my four rocks of support, and I want to make them proud of me. My NSVs so far: Wearing blouses I haven't worn in a year. Walking 36 minutes on the treadmill at 3mph, adding a minute each day. Off NSAIDS. Off Prevacid. Off one blood pressure medicine (of two). Shoes are getting looser. Feet and legs are not swelling anymore. No back pain. Waking up energized instead of sluggish. Feeling in control of what I put in my mouth - priceless!

    breathtaking NSV

Beautiful observation of this NSV. Thanks for sharing this with us.
  25. For more years than I can remember, I've sat in the aisle seat on airplanes. Some of the reason was because my arthritis made it easier to get in and out of the seat but there was also another reason why I sat on the aisle. I was so heavy that it made me very self-conscious when I lumbered over the seats as I struggled to get past them just to sit down or head to the bathroom. In order to not feel so bad about this, I told myself that looking out the window was just for kids and folks who didn't fly often and since I flew alot, I didn't need to have a window seat. Well...tonight I purposely sat in a window seat because I can move around on an airplane much better than I used to between the weight loss and easing of my joint pain due to hip replacement. I live in New York City as many of you know and for the first time in a very long time, I was able to see my city in all it's glory as we flew over it. I had forgotten how breathtaking and spectacular Manhattan is from a bird's eye view. I could see the Statue of Liberty and then the Freedom Tower below me. I could also see the Empire State Building all decked out in red, white, and blue. Plus I could see the Chrysler Building, the Citicorp Building, and the millions and millions of twinkling lights below. It looked like beautiful sparking jewels as far as the eye could see. All I could think of was how much I missed this amazing sight and how grateful I was that my band made it all possible again.
