Hey everyone. I was sleeved on Jan 3. Sorry if the following is TMI, but yesterday I was feeling pretty yucky and I threw up once, and had diarrhea most of the day and night. I was able to get a little food down later in the day. I woke up several times in the night feeling nauseous, and had a few more bouts of diarrhea, and have been in the restroom a lot this morning. I am sure that I have a stomach bug of some sort, but since my tummy is feeling so bad, will it hurt me to skip my vitamins just for today? I am scared to have anything in my stomach but water and tea. Anyone else have post sleeve stomach virus experience?

I have found that affection makes one quite adaptable to the bodily characteristics of the one loved, even if those characteristics are outside of societal norms. I am going to get a bit graphic here: the loose skin could actually be worked into the general erotic scene, even an asset. Guys with some semblance of emotional maturity and intellect can make this adjustment with ease. Not wanting do bestow upon you TMI but my wife has lost nearly 90 pounds since her Roux N Y. The following guys convey my feelings about it:

Anyone else on the pre-op diet running to piss almost every hour? This started happening to me today and I am half way through the pre-op diet. Is this just the body letting go of the excess water being held from diets high in sodium? LOL! It's almost to the point where I don't want to be more than a few minutes from the toilet.

Back On Antibiotics - Bleck!
LosingItForMe2011 replied to LosingItForMe2011's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well this time around the doc has me on florastor (spelling) as well in hopes to get the good bacteria back in check. Weirdest thing though.....I read all the stickers on the antibiotic bottle (cripe there are 5 of them not including the label) and one of them says May Cause Diarrhea during treatment. UMMM HELLO I'm trying to get rid of that not make more of it LOL When it comes down to it....in my humble opinion....nothing is TMI in here. Anything any of us is going through can help someone else. Jen in SoCal...antibiotics caused the whole issue in the first place for me. The initial antibiotics were for an incision infection. Thanks everyone.....I'm sure I'll have the...ummm...errrrrr........oh heck just say...poops under control soon. hahaha -
Menstrual Cycle. I'm aware things are thing to be way messed up and getting back together due to my weight loss but I'm starting to think I've got a problem. I was on my period going into surgery...no big deal they got me through it but I've been on my period SINCE my surgery December 6th. Ive got light days and ive got heavy days. I don't have insurance so I'm going to get some insight here first. I will call my sleeve doctor but I know they will refer me to a obgyn. Yuck idk but I gotta figure this out and fast!!

It's when the food you just ate comes back up - no stomach acid involved, so it's not really vomit. Some people just burp and it comes up, other are more violent (like me, it's just like vomiting except it's just food). The first year or so after surgery for me it would be accompanied by major gobs of "goo" (saliva built up in your esophagus. Looks like a jellyfish in the toilet (sorry if tmi). Hope that helps. Oh, and PB stands for Productive Burp Marci

So it’s been hard for me not to eat too fast but I decided to start eating Greek yogurt, peanut butter and mashed potatoes.. I get a little discomfort but I thibk it has to do with eating fast not so much that I am not ready. What has been hard is getting my water and protein in... today was my best day so far, I had about 8oz of water and maybe 32grams of protein I’m still scared of masturbaton but I’m gonna try maybe in a few more days I’ll update.. babe wanted to today but told me we should wait still he’s worried I’ll tense up when I’m about to orgasm and pop a stitch or something lol tmi but that’s my update Any feedback or suggestions to any of this post is appreciated

You are being way too hard on yourself but good to own up on mistakes. We all have and will make them. I've found this to be an exploratory journey and learning how/what to eat again. I was working sucking on an apple sauce pouch and ate it in like 5 minutes, 3.5oz, didn't think anything of it but then my stomach got super full after 15 minutes and I had to keep spitting in my trash can to avoid vomitting (TMI). I know I'll never do that again! BTW - congrats on the new job!

What causes a weight GAIN post-surgery?
Papillon Princess replied to polyrose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Polly, Continue following all the post op instructions, I also gained weight right after (about 3-5 lbs the first week!). I was extremely bloated and having some regularity issues (sorry about the TMI). After about a week and a half to 2 weeks, I dropped a few pounds and it's continued since. Your body is trying to find normal again and is going through a lot. I was also crabby and not exactly happy right after (I'm not far into my journey either, I'm about 8.5 weeks post op at this point). You are doing nothing wrong! Right now is not a fun time and weight loss sometimes does not occur right away. A lot of people call this "bandster hell" until the first fill because many people get hungry between now and the first fill. Please, keep it up and continue following the instructions! Hopefully you'll be on full liquids soon and able to take in some Protein, that made me feel much better! The Protein shakes did make me pretty bloated but also made me feel a lot better and gave me some energy. You're still healing, don't worry about minimal weight loss or even a small gain at this point. The first month (for me at least) wasn't much fun, but I'm very happy with my decision now and you'll be there soon too. -
I am 6 wks post op... had 2 flights to home ( left 8AM arrived 11PM) so long day. I was worried but did great! Like others said... had G2 now for TMI comment -- ( which was glad I did since I had my first BM that AM and needed the G2) And also got aisle seat. Due to longer day/flight I packed shaker bottle and Syntrax nectar but never used it. Had Soup in airport w/ friend for meal! I was on full liquids by that day! Also didn't use wheelchair others suggested as I felt like walking when I got the chance!

not as well as others appear to be
RestlessMonkey replied to angien's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your surgeon. Do it now. I'm shocked you've suffered this long. S/he can change your pain meds. Make sure you follow the post op diet; but tell him you have trouble (if you do, it sounds like you do) getting the daily liquids in. Very important that you stay hydrated; dehydration can start with a headache and progress from there. And (sorry if this is TMI) if you've been taking an opioid based pain med (like vicodin, hydrocodone, lortab) then you are probably constipated. If that is a problem for you tell him THAT, too. Even though you've only been on liquids, something should be moving on through. Ok? Hang in there. We're all different. -
Sleeved October 17 2017 Age: 19 SW: 297 CW: 255 GW: Healthy and happy. Any medications that are a no go for post op Gastric Sleeve patients. I tried to contact my surgeons office but they haven’t gotten back to me yet. I’ve had no previous health problems before my surgery other than depression and anxiety that I’m taking Remeron for. Specifically asking about Lasix, tmi but ladies you know when you’re bloating before that time of the month for me I retain ALOT of water up to 7-8 pounds difference in my weight no matter how hard I watch my sodium intake. Is Lasix 45mg safe to take???

To continue from my 3rd day post op and not feeling well, my rant follows over to today. Still feeling bad, went back to the doctor, they took an xray and I am backed up. FOS is what the nurse said. LOL. I have been taking my milk of magnesia but nothing has happened yet. Ok sorry, I know TMI, but they were able to get some air out of the band from the sx, I did feel a little better, they gave me a steriod shot, had me drink a little of hot tea and they sent me home. Half way home I puked the tea on myself. (Not fun when you are driving down the highway.) Went back and spent 3 hours on IV fluids and some Zofran. Felt much better, but now that I am home, I am feeling nauseous again. Need to eat but dont want to. Please let me know if anyone has gone through this and if you have any advice. Sorry for the rant, thank you for reading. :-)

5days post op--explosive Bm's (tmi)

since day 2 post op I have had explosive bms, almost dirrahea, ewll it is with major force..anyone else?? -
Embarrassed, Ashamed, or mentally tempted, or what is going on with me but I am going through something that is tormenting me emotionally. I have been banded for going on 2 years now I slowly have lost the weight maybe not as fast as some but I have have lost consistantly never have gained and was at a stand still for over 6 months after restriction. But since the weight loss *sorry TMI* I have had my cycles restored and well along with that come the craving of FOOD something I never delt with before, I am blaming it on my cycles and hormones but could that really ring true. I did ask the day before thanksgiving (as a joke) if I could get an unfill to enjoy dinner with the family and the doctor said "sure" and I looked at him like what?!?!? Your giving me permission to get an unfill just to enjoy myself and he said yea and that I could come back for a fill in 2 weeks to get back on track and guess what I did!??!?!? I declined! I was proud of myself but ever since it's been in the back of my mind to just do this this ONE time and get that craving, torment, whatever this is out of my system but I am more scared of losing the restriction and trying to find it again and most of all gaining any and all weight back which is a given if I go back to having no restriction. Please just encourage me not bash me due to this bad mental behavior!!!!

4 Days Post Op- No Hunger Yet
SLEEVEDNBEAUTIFUL replied to Lollyx3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a 5 wks out. I do have the belching and it is when I'm full, hungry, and more when constipated . My gurgling has stopped. I felt the fullness with liquids but everyone is different. If I drank to much I would get nauseous so I started paying attention to what restriction felt like. When you get there you will know. But don't really worry about restriction or fullness while on liquids is what I was told by my surgeon/nut. I still don't feel hungry unless I have gone all day without any intake. Bad as it is I have done this. It's hard to get everything down sometimes especially when I'm constipated. TMI but it's so true. -
Surprisingly, even though I've been very overweight most of my life, I've very rarely hard issues with chaffing in my sensitive areas. But since I've been losing weight, I've had a terrible time with chaffing in my groin area, and underneath my belly/pubic area. It hurts horribly bad and I'm miserable! I tried to find some of that Monistat soothing chaffing cream, but I couldn't find it at Walgreens tonight. I'll have to look somewhere else tomorrow. Has anyone else had this issue as they were losing weight?? It makes no sense that I'm having this problem considering I'm smaller now!

Caffeine - when if at all can we start to drink coffee again?
lindseyp1019 replied to Mitch1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 4 weeks post op and I just started to add coffee this week. I add about 1-2 tablespoons of sugar free coffee creamer to it. I also make sure I drink it only after I've had my Protein shake in the morning and I make sure I drink plenty of Water throughout the day. I've been having some major constipation issues (sorry, tmi!) and coffee has helped thing pass a little better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Wow...this feels amazing..posting in the POST op section:P I am day five post-op and decided to write a little on how everything went. I got to the hospital at 5:30 on tues morning, by the time they checked me in and I got a room it was prob 6:30. I used the bathroom in the waiting room not knowing I had to give a sampl, they started me an IV wide open to fill my bladder and up and get me to pee. TMI alert there will be some TMI moments in this so please bear with me! ^.^ I was verrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, extremellllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy nervous but they couldn't give me anything until I had talked to everyone(nurses) that I needed to talked to. Besides giving me an IV they gave me some thick yellow stuff to swoosh around in my mouth and swallow, it was ok, it was an anitbiotic. They used my urine for a pregnancy test. I talked to my doctor, 2 anthesists, and 2 nurses and they all basicaly were telling me everything you already know. The anthesist(can't spell) made me feel sooooooooooo much more comfortable and better because I was a nervous wreck. I was gripping onto the bed and everytime they would talk about putting me under I started to tear up. They gave me some antibiotic for my stomach, pepcid, through my iv and then right before they wheeled me away to OR they gave me some ver-sad. The lady was saying after they gave it to me I probably wouldn't remember nothing but I remember everything, all it did was make me very calm. I remember looking around the OR but I couldn't see too good because I obv. can't wear my contacts/glasses. People started putting Patches and stickers all over my body and unting my gown. I remember the anthesist telling me they were going to give me some oxygen and to take some deep breaths and then I would go to sleep but psshhh I know that wasn't any oxygen! LOL! As soon as I took one breath I was knocked out! Next thing I know I was in the recovery room! SOOOOO hAPPY! I was still a little disoreinted but I knew I was ok. They gave me some pain meds and then wheeled me off to a room where I could see my hubbs. I was so very tired, I would fall asleep mid coverstation with people, all i wanted to do is sleep. They took me to x-ray to do a swallow and it took like 2 hours because the radiologist was busy doing something. It was uncomfortable laying on the table for a while. They took me back to my room and I heard 2 nurses talking and it sounded like they said someone had over 40 scans and showed 2 leaks!!!! It started freaking me out! I don't think they were from my doctor, I think I was his only patient that day but it sounded awful! That would explain why the other doc was so busy! After they got my report that I was leak free they gave me my discharge papers! I hadn't even walked yet or had anything to drink. I thought that was VERY odd. THey said I did extremely well compared to most people and since I did so well with the swallow I would with my liquids which I have been! They have me some ice chips and a wheel chair and I left a 2 pm! Now since I am at home I have been feeling VERY GOOD. Day one and two I mostly had gas pain and nauesa. I did notice that no matter how much I hated it-walking really helped with the gas. Pehengren helps with the nausea and I still haven't threw up even tho sometimes I want to. The first two days I also have not got my Protein and i notice that made me more sick feeling, when I would get some in it made me feel better. TOday i havent done so good with protein either, only 35 grams, i have been sleeping alot so that messes me up. My incisions have been hurting, esp the one my stomach came out of, so that is why I am taking pain pills, but that is really my only pain now. My period started today, I got a hemmorroid, ouch, and then I am consitpated so all that is causing discomfort. My hubbs went to the store and gave me enema lol!!!!! It really helped!! I feel alot better now, now I am going to be putting Fiber in my Water. Well I have typed way too much so I am going to sign off for now! Sorry the last part isn't as detailed as I wanted it but if anyone pre-op has any questions, feel free to ask me anything!! & BTW I HAVE LOST 8 POUNDS!

Had my surgery Tuesday at North Vista Hospital (you are in Vegas, too, right?) When I woke up I definitely felt groggy. I looked around the room, and immediately a nurse was at my side telling me hello. I didn't feel any pain - just soreness. I cleared my throat a couple of times, then the nurse asked me if I would like some ice chips. I of course said yes, and she gave me some. (My doc does the leak test during surgery, so I didn't have to stay and have it the next day). I asked her if the doc was able to do the sleeve (I was a revision) and she said yes, he completed the band removal, hernia repair, and sleeve. I farted a couple of times (LOL-TMI but you asked!). Then, before I knew it, they were wheeling me back to the pre/post op area. I stayed there about 3 hours then went home. I was very lucky to have such a smooth experience. I hope yours goes just as well!

LOL I also got the rash..............had surgery on APril 13, 2009. My rash was from not wearing a bra for a month while I was healing and off work............(TMI I know)

You may have to manually disimpact it...which is exactly what it sounds like, TMI but lube up a finger and, er, break it up. :/

Did anyone or is anyone currently experience extreme constipation during the pre op diet?? I've been on the low carb diet for two weeks and I start my liquid diet tomorrow and I can't stand this everyday constipation!!! I've taken the laxatives the NUT told me to take but i feel like i'm taking them all the time and i don't want that to mess anything up. Melissa

Feb 11 surgery...nervous and excited! Buddies?
MN_Thin0211 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello All, I am getting my sleeve Feb 11 at 9 am! I have been lurking here for months, and I have learned so much! I want to say thanks to everyone for sharing and being so open and honest. I was hoping to reach out to someone who has a similar surgery date, or anyone who maybe wants to keep in touch and support each other in what seems to be a potentially difficult first few weeks. I am so proud to be able to soon sit on the loser's bench... Side question: I have a runny nose, itchy throat, no cough or fever. It came on Friday night and doesn't seem to be getting worse. Mucus is clear (sorry if TMI)...they wouldn't cancel for this, do you think! Thanks for reading!
