    Weight loss after 18 months?

Still losing (working on converting fat to muscle and shaping my body) after 2 years. The key is going back to basics - stop grazing. Write it all down. Protein first and water. Get moving if you haven't been. Looking back at photos of me from 2015, I was probably 300 pounds. I was 271 when I first saw my surgeon in 2016 and 246 on surgery day. I was 154 this morning, so I'm down about 150, but fluctuate between 152-162 most times. But exercising regularly and then not eating the calories I burn is necessary for me. Go back to the basics. you've got this.

    Question About Liquids

I am Day 10 post-op. I get in 64 fl oz of Water per day, but it takes me all day to do it. I am noticing that I can sip more at a time now -- verging on what I would call a gulp. It takes me 2 hours to drink a premier Protein shake. I am seeing improvements every day, so I feel pretty good about where I am right now. I hope this helps. Good luck!

    Question About Liquids

For my protein, I pour some premier protein over ice and sip.... It gets a little watered down when the ice melts, but that shouldn't change the amount of protein right? It takes forever for me to drink the protein but no time for me to sip on my snow cone ???? ???? ????
  6. Being retired was a huge post-op advantage for me because I was able to recover without worrying over a work schedule and dealing with people all day. At nine days out I was on purees and transitioned to soft foods at fourteen days through twenty five days. At that point I was permitted to adventure carefully back into cooked whole foods chewed well. I waited another month before eating raw veggies and fresh greens. By nine days I was not taking naps, but was really exhausted at bedtime and slept well. I was no longer constantly nausous, but I was still using the patch that goes behind your ear, and taking an anti-nausea pill every morning plus a PPI (Omeprozole). If you are going back to work at nine days, just be sure that you have Water bottle handy so that you can sip throughout the day. Protein shakes will be your new best friend even if you don't appreciate the taste. Adding a little bit of pureed fruit or vanilla and a sweetener may help. You can alternate between standing and walking and leaning on your desk. Take advantage of every opportunity to rest for a few minutes. I would think that if you have a textbook recovery (no pun intended) you could work at a teaching job so long as you are not the gym teacher.

    Protein sample

You can request three free samples from: www.doctorsbestweightloss.com Once you go to this site, click on the purple bar in the lower right corner that says "leave a message" or "chat now". If it's after business hours, you will have to leave your sample request as a message. Otherwise, you can chat with an online chat person. They will let you request a Protein bar, Protein shake, protein pudding or Soup in your choice of flavor. I sampled some protein pudding (Bariatric fusion chocolate) and liked it so much that I ordered a tub of it. They have great prices and service. The samples only take a few days to ship to you. Also, Bariatric Choice will give you two samples at your request. It's usually a chicken broth and chocolate pudding. Click on the following website and fill out the online form for these samples: http://www.bariatricchoice.com/sample-request?utm_source=bariatricsamples&utm_medium=postcard&utm_content=BC3Q2015&utm_campaign=professionals

    Liquid diet woes!

I only had to do 1 week of liquid and that was torture for me so I can understand your frustration. Try the Trop50 OJs & Juices and like jaymi suggested, add water to it. And the protein shake crazies...they don't go away!
  9. This might sound like I am going against the grain...so please forgive me! Have you considered NOT logging for a little while? You are newly sleeved and therefore at you max restriction. I didn't log anything for the first 6mths at least. I do log now because I am 19+ out and not at goal so I need to be vigilant with my cals. Honestly, at your stage in the game the only thing I focused on was Protein and good quality food? Like I said it might be against the grain, but it would take the pressure of the 'diet monkey' from you? The association of good and bad food, I believe is in all of us... I chose the sleeve so I COULD eat a variety of food, as yes that includes a treat now and again! I want to eat to live, not live to eat. Good luck with the inner voice, it does get better.
  10. I'm at the three month post op mark and I feel like my weight loss is at a very slow crawl! The day of surgery i weighted 226 and I am now at 180. YEAY I'm in onederland but, I feel the weight is not coming off as it should be. Is this normal? Or has the head games been getting the better of me? I know I need to be eatting more protein I work out daily and get plenty of fluids. There are weeks where I just stay at the same weight.

    eating easily?

I can eat just about anything. I go through phases of wanting to try new things and then phases of not being hungry for a few days and living on protein drinks.
  12. 11 weeks out, only 28.5 pounds lost...going to start tracking...how many calories? Protein? Fat? Carbs? (no real exercise to speak of) thanks'

    Sex Drive.......found

I'm very happy for you, both that you are doing better, and even more so, that you have a great partner in life. These can only be good things. I put on weight after I got married and didn't want sex. I felt ashamed of myself, too fat to be desirable, etc, etc. Too bad this option didn't exist back then.
  14. Yes, and that is the point. It forces the body to use it's storage for energy to maintain life and because it is using what is stored we lose weight. I'm not sure if you are talking "starvation", "starvation mode", or "malnutrition". I do think I went through a long period of some malnutrition even with taking many vits. and keeping my protein levels up. I also think it's par for the course.
  15. So I've always been a big Boi and of course my teen years I struggled a lot with my self image. As I got older of course I've learned to love myself and had no problem in love. The surgery was not meant for vanity but for health. So I decided to be single in my pre-op fase but my question is this is for all my single sleevers. How has your love life been after the surgery especially the intimate part of it with like body image. Have you been accepted? Dating Is dating but me being a gay man I can say for sure in the gay community guys can be very vain and care about who walks with them on there arm and how they look. I know you ladies understand so how has the process been? I know my therapist told me that my options will be way bigger. Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
  16. Yes! Eat more! Or even have a protein snack after like some nuts or hard boiled egg

    So Pissed.

Until you can find an alternative, give the Premier protein shakes a try. You can get them at Costco and I see there is one in Aurora. They have 30 g in each one and are really easy to drink. At my Costco in Portland, they have Chocolate and Vanilla, but I have heard they have Strawberry, too. I think I pay like $22 for a case of 18, and they are ready to go. Grab a case. If you don't like them, I'll send you $30 and you can ship them to me. Seriously. I've tried several powders and shakes and these are by far the best.

    So Pissed.

So almost 2 weeks ago, I ordered protein powder from SEI Nutrition. The Protein Max powder that everyone seems to rave about. Well, they took my 100 bucks, but gosh - I never got the protein powder. I've tried calling them dozens of times, emailed them, sent them questions through their website - NOTHING. Finally on Friday I speak to some really snotty customer service rep who I then ask to transfer me to a supervisor - she says there isn't one and that she would have the supervisor call me - I told her that I doubted that would happen but waited for the call anyway - I told them that if I didn't receive the product, I was going to have my credit card company deal with them. No phonecall, of course. I call today and ask her why I didn't receive a call and she said I never asked for one - which I did. She then tells me that she cancelled my order but won't issue a refund because I threatened to have my credit card company deal with it. Well DUH what did she expect me to do, just give them 100 bucks and not care that I didn't receive my order? So now I have to go to my credit card company, and because I did authorize the charge, its taking forever to get the money back. Not only that, I don't have any protein powder to use. I'm so pissed right now.

    Pre-op diet

Ughh its horrible. Today i mixed up a different mix for my protein shake and it really wasnt that bad and i havent gotten sick yet. And you know ive asked two ppl who have had the surgery how theyre two preop diet went and both of them said that they didnt even do the diet at all. So idk if i should just give up on the diet and start it after the surgery or keep going with this.

    From: Diva's journey to GOAL

Hello hello hello to all of you! It has been another week since my last check in. I guess I just don't ever have a whole lot to say... until I start typing anyway. LOL So me weighing the exact same as I have for the last two weeks really did kinda P'd me off a little bit. However, that said - I have had some really amazing developments in the last few days. I tried on my size 6 pants and yup I was able to get them on!! Hooorraayyy!!! So, that means I am but ONE SIZE AWAY FROM GOAL!!!! I always did say that once I got into those size 4 pants (same make/style as the recent 6's I fitted and former 8's) that THAT would be it for me. So what am I looking at now as far as weight? 15 Lbs?? 20 Lbs at the most? We will see!! All I know is that I am SO CLOSE!! I'm really going to do it! It feels SO DANGED GOOD!! I really just put 165 Lbs as a guesstimate. I DO NOT want to get any smaller than a 4. I would have a hard time shopping in normal stores at that point. Especially my favorite Kohl's. They don't go any smaller than a 4. In my world, Size 4 is very thin, and when I get there I'll know I'm finish. My weight on the scale is pretty meaningless to me, except that I'd really like to stop losing now. If any of you knew this already it is that my original goal was to fit the size 8's. However, I got into them at 200 Lbs!! No way was I going to stay at 200 Lbs... so my scale has had SOME say on where I end up. I didn't want to be near the 2's anymore. I just don't want to see that number again in the front of my weight. EVER!!! My routines have been going excellent. I'm staying low on my carbs (Good Carbs) and I'm getting in all my protein. I recently found out I may even be getting too much protein. My genetic makeup gathers muscle tone quite easily. Of course muscle weighs a lot, so that is actually going against the grain at this point. My original target was 100g or more of protein per day. However, I'm notching it down to 80g of protein MAX per day. I'll see if that helps. Also, my workout routines might be a little stagnant. I don't think I need to do less in any way, however - I have done circuit training and I did get good losses by doing this. I think I might get back into this and see if that helps. So tomorrow morning I think I'll start my early morning routine with 20 Minutes on my stationary bike, then do about 35 Minutes on my treadmill. I'll try that for a while. I hope my scale is kind to me on Friday! Sheesh... I've been working my tail off and eating like an Angel and it's not giving me any love!! However, like I said - I'm getting lots of love where the clothes are concerned. So... until next time folks!! Keep reaching for the stars... never give up and do NOT let that scale define you! As long as you are doing the right things, the right things will come back to you. Trust me. Source: Diva's journey to GOAL

    Help! Painful Drinking

I had my surgery 8/19 and I cant drink cold or hot.. pretty much room temp for me right now. I have gone through almost every glass in my house until I found a glass that allows me to sip not gulp.. the gulping pain is gas/air. also dont be scared to ask a pharmacist for some medicine cups and drink out of them until you get the hang of it. I wasnt getting enough liquid so found that chicken noodle(less) Soup is it for me 8oz,. I have it for lunch ( i kept the veggies but ditched the noodles) I add one scoop of Protein powder unflavored to it. It takes me several hours to get through it but its liquid and protein.. I struggled after surgery with the Protein shakes. This week I have had three days stomach pain free.. remember you are healing inside

    Help! Painful Drinking

For the first few weeks after surgery, your body is in a major heal mode. Some individuals have a hard time meeting their Protein and Fluid requirements in the beginning. But it should get better. Keep working at meeting your daily goals. Some people report that drinking Water can hurt. It is important to drink really slow. They reported that if they drank fast it hurt. So take small sips. Some people put ice chips in their mouth to counter the dryness. This condition gets better with time. One individual reported that it wasn't until the 8 week mark, that the condition went into remission.

    Help! Painful Drinking

Same here. Five days out from surgery and can only get in about 45 to 50 ounces and have only been able to get in one protein shake yesterday. I'm so fatigued today so I am going to get in a shake now. I also can only drink warm and room temp. I'm not freaking out about how it hurts when I drink to much or too cold because I assume pouch is still healing. But I am supposed to take a teaspoon of applesauce unsweetened w a potassium pill, am I still supposed to wait an hour after the applesauce to drink? When I drank after the apple sauce to take my liquid vitamins I truly felt it and it was a full bloated feeling. I had to walk it off. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Need To Build Muscle.. Not Sure How To Start

Protein and lots of water with some simple weight training. even if its just lifting cans of corn if you don't have small dumbells. Your muscles feed on the protein.Just take a whey protein supplement a few times a day if you can and do some strength building excercises and you'll be fine in no time
  25. All I can say is to measure your food with your meals being no more than 4 oz total. A lot of people use myfitnesspal to track how many calories they are eating as well. You should stay within 800-1000 calories if you possibly can. Have cheese sticks handy and protein bars for a snack. Good luck.
