Try Kefir, my nutritionist swears by it, it's like yogurt. http://lifewaykefir.com/

My lunches usually contain a variety of the items below. I usually bring more than I will eat, so I can have what I feel like and then just repack the next day what I don't eat. I'm still adding new items to this list as I progress with trying/handling new things. it proves a challenge for me to pack lunches as I use to just eat out every day pre op. I have had a few things from fast food, but it's hard to find anything that you can eat. Jimmie Johns can makes all of their sandwiches into an Unwich, no bun - lettuce wrapped. I tried the turkey/ham and it was fabulous... it took me all day to eat 3/4 of it, but my pup was happy to get the rest at the end of the day.. also you can order a side of beans at taco bell which satisfies if you have no other option. My lunches contain an assortment of: 2 oz tuna salad (fixed as if it was going on a sandwich) deli meat or some other sort of meat hot soup in thermos olives pickles light string cheese cherry tomatoes apple orange P3 (deli isle) meat/cheese/nuts pistachios 2-4 oz lowfat cottage cheese 2-4 oz yogurt 2-4 oz protein sf jello (unjury.com has recipe) 2-4 oz vegetable, I like green beans 2-4 oz dole no sugar fruits I ordered some of the bariatric pal protein chips in a variety. I liked about half of them, but will not be attempting this again until I reach maintenance stage. I found myself eating more than one individual size bag a day or grazing through more than one portion at a time. It brought out old habits in me, and I don't need that kind of struggle with self control right now. Be careful with these my nutritionist also says they are slider foods, that dissolve fast and slide right through to the intestine, more calories for less satiety.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
sillykitty replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
From top left Fresh OJ, Omelet, various breads and crackers, fuul (stewed, mashed and seasoned fava beans), tamiya (Egyptian version of falafel, mad with fava beans instead of chickpeas), french fries (this seemed weird!), cucumbers and tomatoes, potato salad with egg, sliced cheese, labneh with diced mild peppers (thick, rich, non-tangy yogurt), yogurt, jam, oranges, bananas, laughing cow cheese, sesame paste candy This was definitely the most elaborate breakfast we had. But all the components, except the fries, we saw in various breakfasts, but not usually all at the same breakfast. -
1 day post op and not hungry
2Bsmaller18 replied to Ahill95's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found that instead of trying to drink from a big cup pour 2 ounces into a shot glass or smaller cup. then put a 10 minute timer on with a goal to finish the cup in 10 minutes. I did this 2-3 times and hour, then just sipped on water in between then focused again on getting 2 ounces in over 10 minutes. Today is day 5 and I have already hit 40g protein and 30oz of fluids. Also my doctor counts the shakes into the total fluids (even the yogurt counts towards fluid ounces). I also found that reclining in bed and trying to drink didn't work well. I needed to be sitting straight up. -
Siggi's is great but I thought it was too high in carbs....do you not really watch carbs as much as sugar? This whole carb/sugar is a bit confusing to me. I have been trying to keep my carbs under 30g right now so if I have a yogurt with 10+ carbs i feel like that is jus too much- which is why i switched to the TWo Good- it only has 3g of Carbs and it tastes just as good to me as some of the other brands that are not sweet.
-
Siggi's is my preferred brand and I don't get those 0% fat ones. I go for the full 4% and in a pinch will accept the 2%. Siggi's is Skyr, similar to greek yogurt, but not exactly the same. I find it thicker. The company uses all natural ingredients and they achieve a flavorful product with less sugar (not artificial sweeteners). The only downside for me is the limitation in flavors. I can only routinely find 3 flavors: mixed berry, strawberry rhubarb, and blueberry. I love these, don't get me wrong, but I would like a little more variety. *Around Halloween and before Thanksgiving, I can find pumpkin. (BTW: it's absolutely great and I wish they'd offer it year-round). I've tried a lot of yogurts in my weight loss journey (most of my adult life) and really refined my tastes in it with when I had the lapband. I can no longer eat "regular" yogurt. It's just too darn sweet. I went to greek years ago and have tried all the big brands. My fave in that category was Fage and if I can't find Siggi's, I will eat Fage. My "go to" breakfast is Siggi's. I add a few things to make it more filling: 1tbsp of unflavored protein, 1tbsp of no sugar granola (for crunch and texture), and 1tsp chia seed. I eat it almost every day, only changing it up on the weekends.

It’s not yogurt, but I swear by my cottage cheese with pineapple in the morning! I do Kemps brand or “good culture” brand! https://www.goodculture.com/pineapple

I like Siggi’s and Icelandic. They have very high protein n not a lot of sugar. No artificial sweeteners. Light n Fit crunch Greek yogurt is good when u can chew.

I’m a big fan of Siggi’s. Not too sweet or fruity. It’s almost like plain Greek yogurt with a hint of flavor. Have one almost every day.

Why am I so hungry just a few days after surgery?
krahzee1 replied to krahzee1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, this liquid diet is horrible. I mean I didn’t get overweight by not wanting to eat lol I can’t wait until this first week is over and I can at least eat the super soft foods like yogurt, oatmeal etc... -
My doctor recommended Yoplait Light right after my surgery. I couldn’t handle Greek yogurt for the first few weeks.

February 2019 weight loss buds

I bought it from a local company, so unfortunately I don't have the recipe 😞 But here's a list of ingredients: Chicken mince, cream, tomato puree, water, brown onion, greek yogurt, pea protein, cornflour, garlic, white sugar, canola oil, ginger, chicken stock, citrus fibre, cumin, garam masala, corriander, salt. TBH I think you could get a similar result just by using a simmer sauce and chicken mince--perhaps adding some unflavored protein for extra protein. The most protein-dense puree I have on hand is a beef mince bolognese, though--so that might be your best option over chicken for getting enough protein in at puree stage 🙂 -
Ooops I postedin the wrong “zone” sorry! I had VSG & I think by all accounts it went pretty well! I tolerate liquids, soups, smoothies, yogurts really well, I have a spoon of peanut butter for a bit of protein, & a spoon of cream cheese. All go down really well! But jeez...30 min on & that salmon is sat there!! I think because I felt so well & normal I thought “I bet I can just tolerate normal stuff if I chew well...” BIG MISTAKE!!

Sooo not sure I am allowed to link to products- I am sure someone will yell at me if I cannot but this is what I have found since my post and I eat every day now.....It is a bit thicker and does have more of a greek yogurt tasted- but it isn't overly sweet and I love it. I still use plain fage for other things and will continue to do so... http://www.lightandfit.com/two-good/strawberry/ They have a good selection of flavors as well.

Coming up with a diet plan
YeahOkay31 replied to bogglesauce's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't know how much help I would be in terms of meal plans because I am one of those regimented eaters that does best when I am eating the same old stuff over and over again. I can tell you (and vet @sillykitty) will tell you as well, drinking water isn't always a must with the weight loss. I get about 40 oz a day in and I've done respectably. Would I be doing fantastic it I chugged 100 oz a day, I dunno, but I suspect not. For what it's worth, this is how I eat, hopefully it will help with your meal plan: Breakfast: Isopure protein shake w/ fairlife milk; sometimes I will do two hard boiled eggs with some carrot sticks, or if I am being lazy a quest protein bar or cookie (I try to avoid this because it is putting all your carbs in one basket). And coffee--always lots of coffee. Lunch: usually cold cuts (Boars head low sodium turkey or ham rolled in swiss or provolone). Other times I will do chobani yogurt with Isopure unflavored protein powder or grilled chicken over salad with some olives and cheese sprinkled in (I don't do dressing) Snacks: I rely on dry roasted edamame, on occasion cashews or almonds, carrot sticks, or my favorite snack is actually allowing myself some creamer in my coffee. Dinner: Your standard 3-4 oz of protein (usually chicken) with a half cup of veggies. Once in a while i throw in some black or red beans. At least once a week I just boil up some shrimp cocktail--I love it and it is super easy and easy on my stomach too. Now, this plan is not really low carb--I can get up to 70g a day sometimes, but it works for me, and most of my carbs are the "good" kind, which I think helps. In terms of calories, depends on the day sometimes I barely crack 700, other times I am pushing 1200. Just to echo back to what FancyChristine was saying, you probably already know what to do. This weight loss thing really is all in your head. You get back on track by just doing what you gotta, even if it is unpleasant. So much more easier said than done, and let's face it, none of us would be here if it was easy. Anywho, I wish you luck. You can get back on track! -
I love Chobani, but the carb/protein ratio is kind of high. 20g of sugar and ~12g of protein. Some flavors still adhere to the 10 calories/1 gram of protein rule, though. Key lime is my favorite. I'd love to try some of these other flavors you're recommending. I can't eat plain unflavored greek yogurt, though - tastes like sour cream to me! The Oikos triple zero is a little thick for me, but I eat that one regularly too. I mostly eat yogurt for breakfast every day. I bring a RTD protein shake, cup of yogurt, and 2 cheeses (string cheese, colby jack, or Tillamook cheddar) to work every morning and I'm pretty much good until lunchtime.

It’s hard for me to not fall into ruts and eat the same things prettty much every day (eggs, protein bars, veggie soup, Greek yogurt - lather rinse repeat)
-
Me sometimes, which is why I eat a lot of the same things *ahem* yogurt. But if that stops for no good reason y'all... We definitely have a problem

Salt and Artificial Sweetener
Recidivist replied to Recidivist's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks, Nash! That will honestly make life much easier for me after surgery. One of the foods our nutritionist recommends is unsweetened, fat-free Greek yogurt. I simply can't get it down without a few packets of Sweet N' Low! -
Ok I get ya! ((hugs)) Hope you don't have the BRCA mutations...very prevalent in people of Ashkinazi descent... (Eastern European). I am only wanting "easy button" solutions to eating. I too find myself falling back into yogurt, and green smoothies cuz they are easy, quick, and the way I make them--filling. I wouldn't say I'm bored with food. Cuz I still love great food! I'm just tired of making stuff. Make sense?

I never craved spice before surgery but now I love it. I was eating Frank's Buffalo sauce on plain yogurt in the very early stages, I think puree stage. My surgeon and nut didn't caution me against it and didn't say a word when i told them i ate the yogurt/ hot sauce combo every day. And I didn't get any ulcers. I tolerate and want more spice now than i did before.

Here I was on purees at hospital. Just water for 24hrs after surgery, then a clear vege broth for lunch, then pureed chicken and yogurt for dinner--I believe that they won't let you leave until you're tolerating puree--even just 1-2tsps. They also do the barium swallow here to check for leaks during the op. It's interesting the differences place to place! -

YUM. I'm still on baby food. Here's my 50g of pureed butter chicken with 20g of protein yogurt I had for dinner last night. I finished about 3/4s and then became nauseous... Bought little 100g pottles of puree from a company here in NZ. It's been great not having to think about cooking, because cooking smells are blugh!
