    My Face Has A Shape!

What ROUND isn't a shape? I too had the chipmunk cheeks and hated them, I would actually slap myself while looking in the mirror, I hated them that much. This and seeing daylight between my legs when my knees touched were two of the greatest NSV's ever!
  2. So, my husband and I decided to invest in some 6 flags season passes that go through fright fest this year and next. I went to fright fest this past Saturday and was terrified and have an underlying fear of being turned away from rides (since it happened at my highest weight) but now that im over 120 lbs lighter than my highest I thought id give it a shot and guess what? I rode all the rides my heart desired without any issues or embarrassment. it was probably one of the single greatest moments of my life. To someone who has never had to worry about it, it would seem silly, but to me it was like winning the lottery. I loved it so much that a friend and I went back to six flags on sunday for a few hours so I could experience it all again. (we're actually going again the 26th!) This is definitely my greatest NSV--- why don't you share some of yours that keep you going when things get tough?

    Greatest NSVs

Forgive me because I am relatively new. What are NSVs?
  4. Hey all - thought I'd check in with an NSV this morning! Struggling with a stall that seems to be lasting all month, so turned to clothing instead. One of the things that always made me sad while on vacation was not being able to fit into cute souvenier t-shirts in women's sizes. I don't usually care about brand names, but in particular with tees, I've always wanted a "life is good" shirt. Well, at Cabelas, checking out the life is good section a couple, I couldn't decide on short sleeve or long sleeve would be my goal. Wasn't planning to buy because surely they wouldn't fit! Hubby threw both in the cart and checked out. Tried them on this morning and both fit perfectly! Woo hoo! I was going to wear an old, too big shirt today, but screw that - Life is Good! Also had one of my employees approach me this week and say "I don't want to be weird or anything, but you look fantastic". trusting the process.....
  5. Not sure what the the letter mean for NSV but I know it means something good. I had a follow up appointment with my Cardiologist the other day and he was so happy with my progress that he told me to follow up with him in 1 year!!! (I was going every 6 months for episodes of tachycardia with hrt rates in the 200's) Also according to his scale a month before the surgery my weight was 276. So technically I have lost a total of 40lbs since April !!! Yay me!!

    What doe NSV stand for??

NSV = Non Scale Victory. When something positive happens that isn't related to the number on your scale. Clothes that suddenly fit great, comfortably wearing those pants you could never quite fasten, riding an amusement park ride and having the barrier bar close without crushing your stomach, easily fastening an airplane seatbelt, a compliment from a total stranger - it can be anything. And yes, yours is definitely an NSV! Congratulations! Dave
  7. Just sharing: Yesterday, the UPS delivery man brought boxes to my front door. I opened the garage door for him to stack them there, and he got to see me full-length. He said (hesitantly, but with big eyes), " Are you...the same lady who's been living here?" (I've lived in this house for 19 years) "Yes, it's me." "Oh my God. You look fantastic! I would not have recognized you!" [eyes and mouth open wide in awe.] I was actually wearing my old, oversized baggy (and raggedy) sweat pants and an old blouse (with a hole in it)--my 'cleaning the house' outfit. I held them out to show how baggy everything was, and said "I know I look a mess with this stuff on, but yea, 70 pounds gone," I said. He said, "I can only imagine how you look with other stuff on because you look fabulous." It was nice to hear that; and he obviously remembered me because he reminded me of some past deliveries he'd made to my home; he rememberd my line of work, etc. 'Twas a nice NSV on a rainy, foggy day.
  8. Hate shorts. No nix that. I love my new size 14 shorts. My legs have lost weight too and the fat hanging around my knees is looking so much better. And the don't cause muffin top. I'm actually fitting all of me in a 14. Here I was getting used to my 16s.
  9. Congratulations, Catherine, you are awesome and a great role model. I loved your NSVs. Mimi
  10. Hello Ladies and Gents, How many of us have bought a pair of trousers that you have not tried on first??? My trousers that I did not try on came from Ebay, I bought them for work but they were beyond tight so I relegated them to the back of the wardrobe! I tried them on now and again but they never fitted and then I really starting putting on weight. Any way it’s near laundry day and all my regular trousers are getting a bit big, pulls out the abandoned trousers and low and behold they fit perfectly! SCORE! Now wearing said trousers! Whoop Whoop! KiKi XX Hope you are all having a good day!

NSV (Non Scale Victory) Read me Read me!

I had a similar NSV last week, KiKi. I have a pile of pants in the back of my closet that are various sizes from 22-26 that I have pushed to the back as my weight went up. I noticed in the grocery store one day last week that I was "sagging" (as the kids say) and the only thing keeping my size 26 pants from hitting the floor was my hips. So when I got home, I started pulling out the 24s and they fit comfortably!! All the 26s are now in the Good Will bag!

    Mall trip

My daughter asked me to go to the shopping mall with her yesterday. I hesitated, thinking, "nope, not able to do this". Well, I, decided to give it a try. Have n't been in the mall, let alone able to walk around one in more than three years. I did it! We had so much fun!!! Loving life, loving my sleeve, loving me!!! P.S.- Think I'll start posting my NSV's on my fridge, to keep motivated!

    A true mans NSV

While my wife & I were getting ready for work this morning, I double checked the weather. Looked like it was going to be a chilly day here in Ohio. I grabbed one of my new-to-me fleece sweaters that I picked up at the local thrift store. My wife grabbed one as well and to her dismay she discovered she could not wear it because it was too small for her. The days of my wife stealing my clothes are finally at an end!
  14. K Ladies I used the middle clasp on my bra today!! I have never used any clasps besides the last clip. I am so excited since I haven't seen the scale numbers go down but this was a nice Nsv. Thought Ide share

    I Reached My Next Goal!

I was just told nsv means non-scale victory...I thought it meant new sleeve victory...sorry about that! Either way, it is a victory for me! I changed the post a bit!

    NSV - Well Kinda

I had a 12 lb loss last month! I had a Dr appointment with my PCP due to my continued back problems this week. I wont bore you will All of those. Anyway- my blood pressure was 120/70. Unbelievable considering it was 160/111 the last time I went to my PCP. I've lost about 89 lbs. I watch very closely what I'm eating and the quantities. Having the LapBand has been the best decision of my life. OHHH. Plus. My mom bought me an outfit 4 sizes smaller than what I was wearing prior to surgery( as incentive) and guess what? IT FIT ME! My Mom and my two daughters where jumping up and down and screaming with me!! Best Christmas present ever! Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of the New Year!
  19. Over the weekend I was in a store and decided to try on a regular size 14, rather than a 14W - it fit! Woo Hoo! I started at a size 20W. Also... This morning at work, a female security guard ( located in the lobby of my office building) called me over and said " I've been watching you, you are really doing great - how much have you lost?" Woo hoo - so very few people say ANYTHING to me that sometimes I want to yell out - hey, look at me, can you see that something is different about me? I of course don't do it, but it does drive me crazy! Anyway, just wanted to share my NSV - - love to hear about yours!

2 NSV one over the weekend and one today!

Congratulations. It really feels good when something like that happens. My favorite NSV was when I went to the outlet store where I buy scrubs for work (I work in a doctor's office). At the beginning of my journey I wore 2X. I had gotten down to large and they were looking kind of baggy, so I went back to buy some mediums. I picked out some tops and pants, took them home, and when I tried the pants on they still looked baggy. I thought I can't possibly be a small. I went back to the store, only this time I tried them on in the store to make sure before I exchanged them. Well, the small fit, so I returned the pants (the medium tops looked ok--sometimes I am a small but mostly medium) and got all small size. I honestly can't remember the last time I took a small anything. It felt so good! I also shop at the local thrift store, and today wore a layered look top I had gotten there. Group support is tonight and I wanted to wear something other than scrubs. When it was admired at work I told them where I got it. I probably spent about $3.00 for it. Thrift stores are a great place to look for clothes, especially while you are losing and your size is changing. You can save a bundle. I have gotten past the idea that someone I don't know wore them before me. I even found a pair of Ann Taylor Loft jeans there. It was priced $6.98 but they were having a 50% off sale so I got them for about $3.50. I love them. They are kind of a brick red color, size 12 (down from 22W). I take 10-12 in misses sizes now. Pinch me! Good luck on your journey. You can do it. It is never too late, but never is too late.
  21. Those are some pretty big NSV's for only 2 weeks out. That is great. Congratulations and keep up the good work.

    New Year's Nsv!!

Yes. A NSV like that on New Years Day is a great way to be motivated for what's to come! No need for resolutions to diet and loose weight.
