  1. Yes I have met my deductible, but not my oop max just yet. I think I understand you. I am still in my coinsurance phase so I would be paying 10% of my surgery total?

Things that make you go Hmmm...

WAY TO GO CLOE!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Maybe it's because they don't want you to feel pressured. Like Oooo she knows that we know that she's lost weight...now what if she freaks out and starts gaining it back....I dunno...I always feel pressure when people notice that I've lost weight...cuz what if they next time they see me, I've gained it back plus 10? Then what do they say? It's not like they are going to say..."Sorry the diet didn't work out." But I would know they were thinking it...lol...I agree with Yoda....Damned if they do and damned if they don't. K I'm done...

  5. So I started at 284 on Sept. 19 now I'm 216 and cannot seem to go anywhere? Any suggestions on moving forward with my weight? Thanks!
  6. Hello Everyone, So far so good. As of today, I have lost a total of 50 pounds.......WOOOHOOO!!!! I got to tell ya, when you are on this journey, you have to Celebrate the small victories. As each week passes, you may find youself discouraged at times. You can't expect to lose 10 pounds or 8 pounds each week. Some times you lose 8 pounds, some times you lose 2 pounds. The point is that you are LOSING weight. I told myself that I will celebrate when I am in the 250's. Well, I did it! I was 260lbs last week, this week I am 258. I thought I would never see the 250's again, yet here I am. This inspires me to get in the gym and work harder than I have been already. For me, its not enough that I lose the weight, I also want to be healthy and look good in the process. I plan on putting on muscle. Believe you me, my wife appreciates that goal. Anyway......my advice to anyone who needs it is not to be discouraged if you only lose 1 or 2 pounds. Use it as motivation and try to work harder to continue to lose weight and achieve your goals. Celebrate your victories no matter how big or small. Good luck! Kenneth

    Stalls

I go through the same thing. During my pre-op diet program, my weight loss was linear -- 3 pounds per week like clockwork. Post-op, my weight loss is more of a step function. I lose 10 pounds in 10 days and then I stall for 10 days. It has been like this most of the last 7 months. It can be frustrating, but I have learned that it just works that way, so the further out I get, the less mentally-taxing it is...
  9. I've have been stalling so frequently that I have really been down in the dumps lately. These past two months I would lose a few pounds and for the remainder of that week and the next week I would just bounce up and down with the pounds I'd lost on the scales. Then I will lose a few more and do the same thing for two weeks again. It really can be nerve wrecking, but thank goodness I measured in the beginning to let me know that I am progressing no matter what the scales say! These are my measurements and inches lost. 03/18/2011 neck 17.25 arms 19/19 bust 55.5 waist 54 belly button/lower waist 56 hips 59 thighs 35/35 calves 19.25/19.25 06/06/2011 neck 15 (2.25 inches) arms 17/17 (4 inches) bust 48(7.5 inches) waist 46 (8 inches) belly button/lower waist 48 (8 inches) hips 54(5 inches) thighs 29/29 ( 12 inches) calves 17/17 (4.5 inches) You think that you are big now until you look back and see just how BIG you actually were!!! Like a whole 51.25 inches BIGGER..... LOL

    Choosing a goal weight- questions

My Dr. said early on I should have a BMI of 25 and under. So for me 150-155lbs. I told myself my goal would be 160 first and then go from there. The thing is (and I'm sure you're heard this a million times), everyone's body is so different (body type, size etc). I love that I lost all the weight, plus some, but I am 100% happy at where my weight is now. I'm am currently hoping to tone, and maintain. I'm fine with no more weight loss, and my Dr. said I could stop loosing if I was comfortable with where I was with my weight. I just would look anorexic if I was in a size 5/6 (currently I am a 8/10). That's just me, I just don't have the body type to be super thin. Some people look great, I look like a bobble head.

    40 Kilos Or 88 Lbs

I took some clothes to the tailor last week and I asked her to take them in fairly tight....she said, "what if you gain weight again?" I said, well, I don't think that will happen and in fact, I'll probably lost 5 to 10 more.....such a nice feeling. Oh, and I reached the top range of my goal weight yesterday!

    having a rough day

I feel the same way. I have lost 20 since12/19 when I was banded. I have had 3 fills and I'm always still hungry and I gained 2 lbs. I don't know what to do? I need to get to the sweet spot so I can really loose.

    Success/Failure of Sleeve

Don't second guess yourself, although it is normal. I am almost six weeks out from surgery and down 50 pounds. It you are committed you will do fine. Don't go back to any sodas, keep your liquids under 10 grams of sugar, and stay away from the crappy so called sliders.y nerves prior to surgery we're like yours, but once your post op it's really a totally new life and feeling and the urge for me is gone and I have no problem. You'll do fine, keep a positive attitude and wishing you nothing but the best of success. Please keep up updated.

    Surgery yesterday

Welcome to the other side! You need rest in the beginning but walk if gas attacks you!!! You will feel horrible for 2 days and then start feeling better after that - get some tissue to handle the crying... I thought I would never stop. If you can stand it, walk for 10 minutes every hour.

  17. My surgeon wisely had me follow a liquid diet for two weeks pre-op. I had 5-to-6 packets of the Medifast diet each day -- no bars or supplemental foods at all. The first 5 days were Hell. Truly. After day 6, however, I found that I got used to not eating and immediately after surgery, I found that I didn't WANT to eat. Today makes one week since my surgery, and I have been following a clear liquid diet -- much more stringent than the Medifast diet. As I type this, my stomach is growling but my surgeon told me that this is a time when I simply hafta suck it up and wait until I can advance to the pureed diet. That step will happen after my follow-up exam this morning in about two hours. For the next week, I can have foods the consistency of thin mashed potatoes -- but it will be food, and I can't wait. I've lost 19 pounds in three weeks. All during this process, I had the same thoughts as you. That being, "If I can lose weight this way, why do I need the band?" Let's examine that thought. I'm 46 years old. I've deprived myself of food off and on all of my life in order to be thin and healthy. I've been obese since I was 8 years old, so I've been losing and gaining and losing and gaining -- through self-deprivation, diet programs, diet pills, shakes, powders -- you name it, I've done it -- for nearly 40 years. And THAT'S why I need the band. This is a tool to help me STOP the cycle of lose-gain. Now I will be able to eat real foods, in portions my body needs to be healthy, and I will no longer be ABLE to overeat. I will physically be unable to overindulge. That's why I need this band. I will have no restriction for another three weeks (my surgeon does fills at week 4). I realize that adding this small amount of food will probably have me more hungry than I am at this moment, but I will deal with it. I didn't think I would make it through the first 5 days of the Medifast, and now I'm itching to have some of it since I can't right now. I think it will be okay. Let's just take it one day at a time. My two cents........
  18. I've recently just heard about the sleeve at work from co-workers being this is the new thing that everyone is doing because our insurance approves it sooo fast and people are looking into weight loss options. I've been on this page days now just looking around and researching. Although a lot of my questions were answered, I still have a few. Is there an age limit that you shouldn't get sleeved? Has anyone had it more than 10 years and can tell about their experience? I'm really considering being that I've gained so much weight and don't see myself losing because I eat alot!!! Im 5"7 and weigh about 260!!!!!

    Hungry!

I was hungry too. For me a lot was caused by excess stomach acid. I started back on Nexium and it helped tremendously. Also starting soft foods helped a lot too. I'm only 19 days post-op and still feel hungry at times but it's manageable. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I work in the healthcare industry and I am an RN who works in an office job in home care. I review documentation related to reimbursement and our quality rating, and complete icd10 coding of the charts. My job is directly related to our financial reimbursement. We used to have 6 people doing the job and they continue to whittle us down, now at 2, of which I am one. They know we can't keep up, the work load is enormous. They are in the process of increasing the department workers again, but we have been "talking"'for about a year. Ugh My concern....I don't want to tell them why I will need a medical leave because I am afraid they won't see it as necessary right away and may make me wait, or ask me to wait, until they can hire more people. And I don't want to wait because they have been dragging their feet forever. Once they hire, it will take some time before the person is up and running. And the position has yet to be posted.....still waiting. I want my health and I don't want to postpone surgery waiting for them to correct the mess at work. That could be forever. I want 3-4 weeks off. I want to adjust to having surgery and adjust to my new life, getting diet and exercise under control. If I go back after a week, they will find no solution to my work load and will just leave it all for me. I can't recover from surgery working 10-12 hour days trying to catch up. So, my question.....can they make me wait? I know HR will know the reason for my surgery, can my HR department delay my surgery? I tend to be an upfront honest person, but if I tell my boss I really think they will pressure me to delay. Going through all the pre op requirements, come April/ may.... I am going to be ready. Any advice out there?

    Too fat for a bypass

Elcee undoubtedly so, except open surgery has its inherent risks. Wounds heal slower, more risk of infection, incision break down, my own daddy ended up with a ventral hernia post another type of abdominal surgery, strangely my daughter the R.D. did also. RD was able to have hers repaired maybe 10 years later, lost her navel and a lot of broken- down stretched out skin, forbidden to ever gain weight again. Ugly then, not all that gorgeous now, Daddy died with his at 80 unrepaired, ugly, begged him NEVER go shirtless, it upsets your grandsons(and me too) to see IT! Was told in case of any cat accident, roll to floorboards, curl into fetal ball and pray Our GOD allows YOU to live. And although I do have an right paramedian scar from open appendectomy/gall bladder removal nearly 35 years ago (February 1984) , my flabby belly was beautifully laprascopic RNY SEPTEMBER 5th. True recounting, told Dr Needleman at our July 2018 chat I would prefer an Open incision to no surgery. He drew back, said " Do you KNOW how long it takes an Open Incision to heal? Flipped up my T-Shirt, flashed him my belly, and he laughed ruefully " Okay, Point Taken! I'll enter it into My Notes!" And I have the prettiest 7 incisions you ever saw, they're fading into the train wreck of abdominal stretch marks I have, but if YOU look close, HE DID BEAUTIFUL WORK! Sorry about all of you with the rest ' cause I think I got the BEST! And as long as each one of us feels THAT Way about Theirs. The world🌏 will turn smoothly!
  22. I have had severe siatica in my left leg and have been taking Gabapentin (Neurotin) for 2 years. It controls the pain and tingling in my leg but I’m left with significant loss of strength in my leg. The neurosurgeon won’t do surgery until I’m down to 250. I just had a sleeve 10 days ago. He thinks that significant weight loss may resolve the whole situation and thus need for surgery. Anyone else had their similar situation be fixed by their weight loss?

I have lost 70lbs and am very happy. My problem is is that I have started a bad habbit again of eating wrong. The good thing is that I eat but I don't eat like I used to. I can't. My biggest problem is that I am constantly on the road and can't eat meals like everyone else. My job demands constant driving and making sure I get to my destinations on time. I can't slow down. So I resort to eating kettle cooked chips and eating a meal at the end of the night. NOthing is healthy for road travelers on the go. It is so frustrating. Also I love to eat ice cream. It is the best thing in the world. Question one about the band after I eat a meal is ice cream considered a liquid? Reason why I ask is because of the rule about not drinking one hour and a half? Also I find myself eating more food than usual and I don't feel full. Can my band get messed up if i am eating a lot of food and not feeling pain? Last question: Every week I get an episode where I have to throw up because I am still learning about certain foods that get stuck. eggs are the worst. I have had this problem for about 2 months. I am scared that my band is damaged or something. I guess I just need some insight. Can any one help? </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="alt2" style="border-style: none solid solid; border-color: -moz-use-text-color rgb(217, 217, 217) rgb(217, 217, 217); border-width: 0px 1px 1px;"> </td> <td class="alt1" style="border-style: none solid solid none; border-color: -moz-use-text-color rgb(217, 217, 217) rgb(217, 217, 217) -moz-use-text-color; border-width: 0px 1px 1px 0px;" align="right"> </td></tr></tbody></table>
