    Hungry, Hungry Shira

I am starved. H made some veggie chili the other night (BG: 2 cans each of light and dark kidney beans, a bag of frozen whole kernal corn, 4 cans of diced tomatoes with onion and garlic, 2 packs chili seasoning and 1 bag of Morningstar crumbles.) It was FAB but I farted all day and all night yesterday. :boom:I am still having a hard time pooing (TMI, I know) but I have been trying to get at least 2 litres of water every day and then I take 4 stool softeners at night to help. It's a charmed life I lead. Anyway, today I decided to take a pass on that chili and so I had a double Spirutein this morning for breakfast. At 11:30 on the dot I was FAMISHED. I am now contemplating lunch and I could eat a horse but I dare not. I weighed 208 and some change last month and my WI is next Wednesday. I have GOT to be either 208 and change or less or there will be some BIG trouble in Little China!!! ETA: I had a chicken caesar from Sheetz and some mac and cheese. Probably could have skipped the mac and cheese but it's so cold and rainy out...

    My port....

Mine is a couple of inches above my belly button and it caves in and grosses me out because it looks like another belly button. Sorry no pictures I think I gave TMI already

    BM changes post op--TMI

Agree with liquid in - liquid out....theory but there are enough solids in the Trader Joe's powder to make some sort of solid movement. If you use a stick mixer with either a banana of the white of an apple and beaten until liquid, there are enough of natures solids to ease your TMI
  4. I am 4 weeks post op and I'm having my first period since the surgery. This period is heavier than any I've ever had before. I'm bleeding through a heavy duty tampon and a XL maxi pad about every 2-3 hours. Also, I am having very watery diarrhea about every hour. I can't drink water or fluids because it's making me nauseated. I'm feeling very weak and very moody. I feel like I've been beat up by Mike Tyson, I'm so achy all over. Sorry for the TMI, but I have no one else to share this with.
  5. Just had my pre-op appt today and we were talking about the bowel prep. My surgery is on 11/13, so I'm supposed to drink the bowel prep stuff the morning of the 11th. It sounds like I should probably try to make arrangements to work from home on the 11th, but what about the 12th? I have no idea what to expect in regards to this, as I've never done a bowel prep before...
  6. TMI: I've struggled with this a while but it occurred to me I can ask for imput here. When I am active (at work, the gym) I sweat so bad in my groin, underwear gets wet and it smells (duh, it's sweat lol!) I've tried pads which helps a little but doesn't cover the whole areas I sweat! I use powder but it only freshens doesn't stop the sweating, and besides, I don't carry it around with me! So my question is, for anyone else who may deal with this, do you have any suggestions short of changing my underwear 5 times a day (haha)?!
  7. Rootman

    SOOOO Moody........

As the others mentioned, anesthesia, trauma and the fact you're not indulging in food and getting the endorphin "high" all play a part. It works that way for the boys too, I have been super grumpy lately and pissed at the world. WARNING! May be TMI: I had previously diagnosed with low testosterone and had my levels under control till I had surgery, then they shot right through the roof. I halved the dosage and was OK for a few more months and then had my levels rechecked and they were through the roof again. So the doc prescribed a half strength version for me - which I cut the dosage in half AGAIN, so now I am taking 1/8th of what I originally used to take. I have to wait a few weeks to get rechecked but I can feel they're too high yet. I have to take SOMETHING as my level bottoms out way below male normal between dosages, then I want to cry all the time. The reason is simple, there is less of ME to spread the hormones around in so they in effect get stronger. This can also happen wihtout taking replacement therapy as your own natural hormones will become more "concentrate" too. Now you're just starting out so this effect may not be kicking in yet.
  8. Okay, I was reading a magazine yesterday - since it was "me time" and I found an interesting article. It focussed on hitting 350 minutes a week of exercise, you can do it all in one day - ahhh, not me - or you can devide it up into 6 days a week, or 5 or even 3 - but the key is you have to do 350 minutes a week. I opted for 6 days a week, which averages to be about 60 min a day. I know, 6 days a week is a lot, but I have found that I have to give it my all in the beginning or I just quit. Some people have to start off slow, but for me, if I start off slow, I never get going. Anyhow, I decided to set some goals this week and push myself to do them. I hit the gym this morning, I did a circuit training, where I did 15 min on the elliptical - got my heart rate up - then jumped on the weights (worked my upper body -biceps, triceps, shoulders, back - and thru in the abs). After doing a set of weights, I jumped back on the elliptical for another 15 min, it was at this time my stomach started turning. I pushed anyhow, and did another set of weights. Jumped back on the elliptical machine (I was planning on doing another 10 to 15 min), but I realized my stomache was not settling down. I started dry heaving, which I HATE to do. I don't know about anyone else, but since I've been banding, I cannot throw up. I can PB, or spit up something thats in my pouch, but as far as something that has made it to my stomache, It is not coming back up, no matter what! Anyhow, I had drank some water, and I think that was sitting in my pouch still, and I knew it was about to come up. So I had to cut the elliptical machine short, so I grabbed my towel and headed to the door. I almost made it, but hear it comes, I covered my mouth and out came the water, I knew several saw me. I left in a hurry, so embarrasing. Sorry if this is TMI. Anyhow, I did get in 60 min, despite it all. I'm not sure what made me feel so sick, but I feel better now. I'm about to head to the kitchen and make me a colorful plate of food. Turkey breast, salad greens and some diced apple salad. yum. I'm going to take my measurements later and see where I am too so I can also keep track of them. Goals for the week: 1. Eat Clean 2. Exercise 350 min 3. Get some sleep So far 350 min minus todays 60 min = 290 min to go! Wt - 165.8 - grrrrrrr
  9. I usually eat 2 Fiber one bars and something is bound to move within a few hours. But a couple weeks ago, after about a week of forgetting to eat my fiber one bars, nothing seemed to work and I was super uncomfortable and it was 10 o'clock at night. (TMI warning) DH rushed off to the local walmart and came back with an enema and chocolate flavored ex-lax. I opted for the enema. Worked in seconds. I have noticed that alot of folks say less in so less out, well boy oh boy that was not the case with me. I definately needed the assitance. Hope TMI was not too bad.
  10. I was sleeved on December 2nd. I remember waking up when my coworkers called my name at 8 pm. I asked them were my sister was. They found her. Then my bladder decided to kick in after the left. My nurse wanted me to walk to the bathroom. I made a deal that the next time I would walk to the bathroom. Needless to say I didn't go on the bedpan. At 10 pm I was out the bed walked to the bathroom. Oh I hit the pca pump before going to the bathroom. From then on I was walking to the bathroom. They had me on the pca pump. Right now I can't remember the name of the other pain med that was given. My pain was well managed. I didn't have the gas pain. My nurse said it was probably because I moved around so much while I was in bed. I walked around on and off. I stayed in the hospital for one day. You will be cold after surgery. Once I got home I only took extra strength Tylenol for pain. Only exercise I did walk around my apartment the first six weeks. Week 7 I was at the gym. I was constipated. TMI. Lol. I talk stool softeners and that helps. My hot flashes went on vacation for six weeks. Now my body can't decide if it wants to have a hot flash or a cold flash. I weigh myself every two weeks. I had a stall the first month. I'm losing slowly but that's ok with me. Keep gas x strips handy. Keep you blanket close by Take it one day at a time Don't weigh yourself every day or you will go nuts Walk, walk, walk Sugarfree popsicles can be your best friend I hope this helps

    Contstipation?

I had that problem the week after surgery and I used Milk of Mag and that worked, I was starting to get really worried and you don't want to be straining after having surgery on your stomach, may be TMI, but hey, it happens. I took probiotics before surgery that kept me regular and after surgery, when I was allowed to (2 weeks), I got back on them and they keep me regular. They don't work overnight, as for that 2 weeks I could not take them, I could definitely tell, but I'm now 2 months out from surgery and back on track. The Pearl probiotics are really, really small so no problems with taking them now or in the future with a tighter band. Just another option to add to the list. Oh and like the above commenter said, my nutritionist said about the only thing sugar free candy is good for is if you are constipated, lol.
  12. Hi all. So glad i found this forum.. I had my sleeve done on the 22nd October 2 weeks today. My incisions have all healed up pretty well but i have this nagging dull pain under my left boob (Sorry TMI). I cant wear a bra as it makes the pain worst and it knocks me for 6. It seems to be 1 particular incision site thats causing the pain and its the largest incision site too. I get out of breath from both pain and "little activity" ( have a 20month old so take that as you will lol) Is this normal??

    Started period

I had mine start about a week later, and it's one of the worst periods I've ever had. *TMI alert* heavy beyond belief, I'm dizzy, and the stomach/bowel cramps that come along with my period is ridiculous. Supposedly that's normal with all the hormones being released in the burning off fat but it was scary the first day. Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Scared to death!

TMI but every hour I pee so every hour I take a lap
  15. I started TOM last week right before surgery. luckily stopped over weekend. now i'm having spotting but no other symptoms. I took some medicine yesterday to counter-act the heavy antibiotics that would cause a yeast infection. Could i have a bladder or other infection caused by the antibiotics? Never had one before and not sure what to do.

Tmi - Tom Or Yeast/bladder Infection?

Thanks. I'll let TOM run its course instead of goign to doctor. I took 1 oral pill to counteract yeast infection. Hoping that's all i need because this got real irritating real quick. sorry for TMI.

    HELP!

Ok, so I'm quite sure this has been covered over and over, but honestly, I don't feel like going throug a bunch of old threads. Here's the deal. I had surgery on Monday. Came home yesterday about 2pm. I'm just continously nauseus. I'm taking the nasuea pill every 4 hours and have some kind of patch behind my ear. They just dont seem to help. I keep having episodes where I feel like I'm going to throw up, but its just spit and phlem (Sorry TMI). BUT when I do that it makes me burp and feel a little better. I'm walking a lot but that really doesn't seem to help either. I feel like I"m SO thirsty and its all that I can do to not take a huge drink of water. PLEASE tell me this is normal and it will end soon!!

    Food Intolerances Since Banding...

Wow! Bright! It's so good to see you!! This is odd, because I had a tummy ache today, and of course the paranoia of an eroded band starts to brew...but it felt like my bowels were just upset and I just needed to empty them! Well, over the course of the evening, that has happened. I'm very gassy, and have had 4? bowel movements in the last 8 hours (I know...TMI) but I'm feeling better! I never had bowel probs pre-band, but now they seem to hit on occasion. I drank some Aloe Vera juice and chewed a Tums, ate very little dinner and I seem to be on the mend...well, the tummy ache is gone. I'm thinking I just have lots of acid and need to start back on Prilosec for a few days. I haven't been able to relate it to any particular food group, like dairy. I also notice it feels like my lower stomach just needs some food in it? My stomach growls like mad. I dunno, but your post sounds similar and just wanted to say...yes...I think our stomachs may produce more gas/acid at times and that causes some bowel "issues". I wouldn't worry about getting a small fill, though. How's the family and school? I'd love to hear an update with all the scoop. LBT is so busy! But I miss you being here! ((hugs))

I Can't Believe I'm Going To Ask This...

Hey brandymarie81, it's like you're reading my mind. I had frequrent Y.I's before the sleeve and once my period hit the day after its been really bad. I don't know if its the hormone fluctuation thats doing it but I'm now on meds for it and I'm going into the doc Thursday for follow up. I know my symptoms and diagnosed myself but I want confirmation. Have you been to the doc yet? BTW this may be TMI but I'm STILL bleeding! WTH. I hope this period craziness doesn't last for a long time.

  21. I've been looking at obesityhelp.com. Found this site when someone posted it there. Started the research a few years ago. Late last year I went to 2 drs. and various seminars in MD and VA. Was denied because my work ins. didn't cover lap band, only gastric. Saw a dr in VA, and really liked him-Dr Chebli (sp?). Was waiting to get re-married, move to a newer house, 2 kids graduations, etc. So, this year found out on the BC/BS CareFirst providers website that as of June 13, 2005, they no longer consider the lap experimental. "Obesity and Morbid Obestity, 7.01.36. New technology/--aparoscopic adjustable gastric banding for treatment of morbid obesity. Description--Placement of a silicone band around the upper portion of the stomach, to restrict the patient's ability to ingest food. CareFirst and CareFirst BlueChoice Determination--If it's 'Considered medically necesary when treating morbidly obese patients who meet the established criteria for surgical intervention. This is a change from previous policy.'" There isn't a CPT code, but a HCPCS code, S2082. Found at another site that there is HCPCS S2083 for adjustments. Was told my the dr nurse in MD those codes are for hospital coding. So, it's a wait and see for now. Paperwork was sent this Mon. Nurse told me 2/3 wks to hear. Person who does it is out-other's are handling in her absence. The kicker could be if my employer didn't have a special rider for WLS. Not sure? Could be an appeal coming my way. Lots of co-morbities. Take too many medications. Rheumatologist's visits increasing lately. Said way to much for now. But, wanted you folks to know what I've found out. This is such a great site! Glad I found it. Glad to communicate w/you all. Finding folks in VA/MD/DC area to meet in person. Don't think there are enough support groups, even for this large metropolitan area. Maybe TMI? too much information

    NSV - tmi

I just saw a Poise commercial and I realized that it's been 2 weeks since my surgery and since Spring has come to the Pacific North West my allergies are in full swing AND I am no longer wetting myself when I sneeze. Hehehe, sorry if it's TMI for some.

Not at goal after 1-2 years..unfill?

I think you need to see your doctor and have another fill --at least that's what I'd do. I've been filled to the point where nothing would go down, even water (at the drs office) and he immediately unfilled "a little" --since then I've been happy with what I have --no fills in 4 years --but I AM filled pretty tight --have to watch what I eat and how much or it just sits there for a long, long time. Sometimes fluid can leak out, I suppose, but in all honesty, going through all you have, you need to go back to your doc and say, hey, let's work on this together. I cannot see how an unfill would achieve anything excpet put you back where you were. FYI started at 242, currently 152 and have been at 152 for a year --It took me about a year to get to 162, then just sort of continually drifted downward with no particular effort until 152. I do not exercise but I'm a farmer so very active. I don't know about a 'sweet spot' --I think if my doc were alive he'd think I was a bit too tight (he died) but his associate doesn't want to change anything since I'm where I want to be. If I slip down past 142, I'll probably go see her about a slight unfill -- I no longer see the bariatric folks --just my GP --I call once a year to see if they want to see me, but so far no. I did call when I went o Celebrex and it made me barf every night --but that's just how some people react to it. Once I stopped taking it, I stopped barfing. TMI Sorry. Work with your doc, he's the expert. :-)

One week out of gastric sleeve surgery

I am almost 2 months post OP from VSG and still regret it even though it’s getting easier to get required protein and water level in daily. l’ve had nothing but pain, and problems since surgery and to top it all off, my surgeon will not listen to my concerns, talks over me and only seems interested in covering himself against a lawsuit. That’s the only reason I can find as to why he’d send me for an upper GI knowing I was already severely dehydrated, and constipated to the point of impaction. The barium caused even worse constipation, and now I have <TMI Alert> An anal fissure and hemorrhoids because of the strain. I found out I was overdosing my body with omeprazole (through 23andMe) even at only one pill per day. Apparently my body is slow to metabolize this drug in particular. I don’t blame him for not knowing my body chemistry but I do blame him for not listening to me and identifying the symptoms of overdose. like I said I’ve had nothing but trouble, and these few things are a drop in the bucket. I still get nauseated easily, and trying to find foods that are on the list is both time consuming and expensive. People say it will get easier but right now that’s no help. At this point I feel like I’ve traded one issue (obesity) for far more issues (everything that came with VSG surgery). I know my story is only one, and there are a million others. I sincerely hope someone finds my story helpful. Good luck on your journey.
