  1. I had to get my mind together. I was doing some regretting about having the surgery. Yet I stepped on the scale and I am down 3lbs and now 4 days post op. I finally got my medication and gas is starting to finally come out due to a lot of walking. I am tolerating A LOT more now, getting my fluids in and (this may be tmi) but I pooped Lmao!!!! I was to excited... I was like that had to relieve some gas. I am sure my surgeons office is sick of me but I call for every little thing. Better sage than sorry. Still some soreness but im gonna go ahead and start taking my pain meds... I'm starting to get excited all over again!!!
  2. Can someone please tell me if having problems urinating is common after surgery? Im two months out and use to go like a race horse, now maybe twice a day and I am drinking water all day. I've heard about having problems with #2 but not #1, im having problems with both which is kind of scary so is this common or weird?
  3. Warning if TMI.. If you're constipated, you will weigh a bit more till you pass it. Weigh yourself right before you have a bm then weigh after..you should see a pound or 2 drop. I also retain Fluid when I'm constipated. Try miralax,,I've taken it before,,it has no flavor so I add it to coffee or whatever.
  4. Ok. This is a little embarrSsing to ask but we' re all going thru the same thing and we are here to help eachother. One issue that I have had trouble with since day 1 is CONSTIPATION! I hate it. I understand that its not like before obviously, because we are not intaking as much, but its all bad for me. After a few days I feel super bloated. Has anyone experienced the same issue? If so what has helped you? Sweet
  5. Hello All, I also had surgery on the 16th and had no problems. I have had slight headaches here and there but I assume it is my harsh withdrawal from caffeine. Fighting to reach my daily Fluid intake but working on it. Need to stay hydrated. My pain was pretty tolerable and only took pain med twice since getting discharged on the 17th. Only problem I am having is the major gas pains in the lower belly and lets just say lots of trips to the bathroom. Sorry for the TMI but the cramps have been bad.
  6. Alot of things could be contributing to this. Water retention would be the culprit I would point at first. Then I would look at the other things... was there anything in your sleeve when you weighed? Are you "regular"? (Maybe TMI, but I "lost" quite a bit after my first real "movement" after surgery.) Try to be patient. It's not been very long, and I stalled out after week one and didn't start losing again until week 3, but am doing great now, at the end of week 4...

    No Coffee!

I waited until 4 weeks out, but added coffee back in with no issues. I have a cup each morning. It makes me easier to live with at work, and it keeps me regular (sorry if tmi, but it works!)

    Anyone Here With Simular Stats?

I'm close too... 5'9 HW - 267 SW - 258 CW - 233 GW - 150I'm 33, and we had surgery on the same day btw! I was sitting at 242 for a week, its been kinda slow. Then I cheated and had... coffee! Coffee did what it does for me (TMI) and well... I lost 7 lbs. LOL It'll come. Just be patient. My best friend is also similar stats but she is alittle over 2 months out and down almost 70 lbs, but she said it was slow at first.
  9. I am on Biotin as well. 1,000 mg. I have noticed a change in my hair for the better since adding it. I now have curls. Weird. Not Elaine on Seinfeld curls but the curls I had when I was a child. Plus the hair on my legs has reappeared. (TMI?) I am not a hairy person by nature and so blond that the hair on my legs has not been there in years. My MD told me that your body only uses as much Biotin as it wants so if you take 1,000 or 5,000 mg it doesn't matter. So I do 1,000. Protein is key and every time you have an appointment with the docs they should be asking you if you have having issues with hair, skin, nails.

    Anxious! Please Help!

Not to bad. But I've also had natural childbirth, and gallstones. So this surgery was a piece of cake. But, I felt sore, bloated and I had some nausea. My doc gave me meds for the nausea and meds so I won't barf. I also got some for the pain. Chat to them about that- and see what they'll do for you. I was really gassy. Getting up to walk really helped a lot. Gas X strips are still my saving grace. Love "em! Going #2 was an "issue" (and still sometimes is) a few weeks down the line ( sorry for the TMI). So chat to them about stool softeners because you don't want to strain. You'll do great! This is just a small moment on a life changing event. There are moments where you'll feel every emotion out there. But surround yourself with people you love and who love you back. And you'll do great. I'll be crossing my fingers and toes, praying and doing a dance for you! Hang in there girl for the ride of your life!
  11. Today is day 4 post-op for me and I'm finally starting to feel a little like my old self again. I was able to lay in my bed for a cat nap today for the first time without my organs feeling like they are rearranging themselves inside...lol I was so desperate for sleep the other night that I actually grabbed my pillow and blanket and slept in the passenger seat of my car!! NO LIE!! It was the only place I could think of to simulate a hospital bed at home and it worked. The next morning when I woke up In the driveway I remembered that my back living room couch is a sectional with a recliner on one end!!!! It had to be the pain meds that didn't allow that to come into my mind before I got into the dang car...lol I've been sleeping in the recliner now and it does help but I soooo want to be back in my bed for a full nights rest. On another note and one that is typical for the way things go for me in my life, As I lay in the recliner this morning starting to notice that I was feeling a little better and like my old self again I sneezed and then realized that I NOW HAD A COLD!!!! Shaking my head I got up to use the restroom and then realized that I had also just STARTED MY PERIOD!!!!!!! All I could do was laugh and just roll with it...lol
  12. Hey bronx new yorkers I have joined the sleeved club. I was sleeved on 4/11/12 and everything went great according to doctors. I wanted to get out the bed about 3pm and want to drink water but had to wait that was Thursday in the am. Now Thursday afternoon I made a bad turn and felted really sick and could not drink anything I could not even lay down. So I got worried and the doctors did too. I was kept longer and sent for a CT and 2 nebs. I was off the pain killer early because I was so ichy. Turns out that I had a running nose and as it feel to the back of my throat it may it hard for me to cough and it also caused a painful coughing attack. I was just taking tylenol the first night and had a hard time. As for today I am drinking 4 - 6 oz of clear and i crushed the vicodin because of the painful coughing. My husband brought me some sugar free cough drops that is also helpful for the cough. Finally I don't regret it I am doing good. TMI sorry I past gas like crazy and finally went poop. lol calling doctor's office for my after surgery appts.

    April Bandsters!

This might be TMI, but I got banded on Thursday and I have not had a BM since. Is this normal?
  14. So, today I broke down and had some of my kid's Easter Candy. I ate about 20 milk duds. My sleeve is very unhappy with me right now. I'm nauseous and I have the worst diarrhea. (I know, TMI!) I'm unhappy that I feel so crappy but, really pleased that my sleeve is doing what it is supposed to! I knew that I shouldn't eat tht candy but, I did anyway and I'm paying the price. Lesson learned, sleeve! You Win!!! (ps, who knew that a side affect of getting the sleeve would be becoming a little bit masochistic?) LOL
  15. Hi guys! I don't know if this is TMI (too much information), but I felt the need to ask! I was banded on March 12, 2012 and have really had no problems except for minor port area pain when I'm over working my self...oh yeah and every now and twice now I've gotten a small stomach ache when I eat. I get my first fill next Thursday. My question is: Has anyone else become a little irregular? I've been like clockwork since I was a teenager and me not feeling the urge to go has begun to interfere with my morning weigh ins. Just 2 pounds, but this early in the game for me....every pound counts! Has this happened to anyone else after "the band?" And if so, what can I do? Activia, laxative? I'm clueless! Thanks!

Very and I am also having bad cramps and diarrhea. Sorry if it was tmi Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  17. I'm a nurse tho I don't work in a hospital anymore. I do Home Health and spend my days driving from pt to pt doing dressing changes, labs, teaching, etc. It will be 3 weeks for me on Tues and from the way I feel, there is no way I can go back to work soon. I had a fantastic first week and then went downhill from there. I have not had 2 good days in a row yet and never know what the day will bring. Fortunately, I took a month off so hopefully I will feel better by then. Today I am battling constipation and had to take an enema. (sorry if tmi). Yesterday was great until last night when I had the vomits. I know it will get better that's why I keep reading the success stories on this board. This too shall pass. Sent from my iPad using VST

  22. When I had my Psych eval., the doc asked me about our sex life. I simply replied, "what sex life?" With raised eyebrows and shaking his head he replied, "Oh, we are fixing to make your husband a happy, happy man." Well, I am pleased to announce he was 100% RIGHT. Because the drugs I was on completely killed my libido, we had for several years been in what was considered a sexless marriage (once a month or less). Now that I have been able to quit them ALL, we are for sure back in a honeymoon phase (and we have been married for almost 14 years). As a matter of fact (TMI alert!) he is accusing me of trying to collect on his large life insurance policy. I told him it was good for his heart to have a good cardio workout everyday. He has lost 35# himself recently ( I deny being the reason). With my weight loss and his together, there is almost 100# gone between us. The difference is astounding! And I have to admit, it is much better to me now than it was when I was younger too. Now, I am older, more experienced and much less inhibited. He appreciates the differences too. I couldn't be happier...well a boob job might help my feelings, but that is another topic..hehe. My advise is enjoy every aspect of your new life. Take the bull by the horns and ..well you can fill in the rest Have FUUUN!!

    Probably Tmi

I'm not sure about that rash. Maybe you should have a doc look at it just to make sure? Only thing I have going on is itchy incisions and sometimes my port sticks out after I drink or eat. Like a big bump right above my largest incision. I've been told this will go away after I heal. Now I've never had a problem "going" and haven't had much of a problem since my surgery. HOWEVER, I'm not sure you should be expecting solids out if there's no solids coming in. Just my 2 cents and I'm curious to hear the input from others. Again, I've never had this problem but I've heard many people do. Not something I'm looking forward to, but want to be prepared just in case. dhales, I don't think you should be worried about TMI on here. I have a feeling this group is all about getting real with ourselves and sharing everything as we go. j~

    Probably Tmi

I have no idea about the rash other than to suggest that maybe it's the glue or iodine on your skin that you are reacting to. Benadryl cream or hydrocortisone? I had a "rash" which was more like a red itchy spot on my right middle abdomen and put hydrocortisone on it and I was fine. As to #2.... MOM can take hours to work. As long as you are not uncomfortable AND you are passing gas then everything should be working. It is different for everyone. It also depends on if you are still on pain meds or not. Here's my TMI. I used to go everyday and now it's every 3-4. My calories are really low and I know I'm not taking in as much fluids as I should. Plus it's all fluids. Hope this helped somewhat. Oh, I'm 7 days post op today.

    Probably Tmi

Okay...so today I am 9 days post-op. I was on liquids 48 hours before my surgery and I am still on liquids. I am not really getting in a whole lot in terms of calories...but I feel like I am sipping all day. I have been taking my vitamins....now comes the gross part. I have noticed two issues and wondered if anyone else has this as well. I have noticed a rash under my chest and tummy. I have been taking anti-fungal for this assuming its a yeast rash since I had antibiotics during surgery and I am sure with low calories my immune system may be suppressed....but it seems to go away in one spot and reappear. Anyone else with this issue? Also - probably the grossest TMI - remember I warned you...so you can stop reading at anytime. Well - since you are still reading I guess you will be okay with it. I just realized this AM that I haven't had a #2 since before my surgery...when I started the liquids. I took MOM this morning with nothing. Funny thing is I don't feel bad or bloated or constipated. I just don't feel anything...is this normal since I have been on liquids.... Geez that is like 11 days....that has to be strange.
