And a NSV from today. I went shopping for the first time in almost 7 months (last time was pre-Pandemic as most stores are just starting to open here). Last time I was still in plus size and I was so frustrated with the complete lack of options (shopping discount type stores like Nordstrom Rack and Marshalls). Today, there were so many great options - it felt amazing to be able to pick clothes I like v. anything that fit and didn't look terrible. I still have a ways to go so I bought a handful of tops and stopped myself but seriously so excited to be able to wear clothes that are my sense of style!
  2. Hey everyone! Happy Labor Day. Hope you are all well. Just checking in. I’m heading into my week 7. So far so good. Glad I can finally begin to do some intense workouts. Still feel some pain on my left side so I will take it somewhat easy. Lol. I feel so good and loving all the NSV. So far I’ve lost 37lbs since the day of surgery.

    NSV Workout

One of my goals for WLS was to be able to go rock climbing with my daughter. Today we finally went and it was awesome!

    4 Weeks and only 10lbs!

Hi there, I am part of the slow losers club. I had my sleeve done March 3rd and I am just hit a 30 pounds loss. So don't be too hard on yourself. Everyone goes at their own pace. I am 56 and was at 250 when I had surgery. I know it's working because I am dropping inches, not so much weight. I've got time I am good about it. At first I was really upset. But trust the process...it will all work out in the end. Enjoy life enjoy those NSV and don't be so hard on yourself...
  6. I've lost 98lbs, and my birthday is in one week. I am almost 8 months post op (will be on 9/6), so maybe I can get 100 for my birthday? It'd be so awesome! I also had a HUGE NSV today- the pants I was wearing in my before picture were a size 28, and I can fit SUPER comfortably into a size 18 as of today! (Almost need a 16 now; definitely gonna get a belt for the first time in my life soon).

    NSV!!!

Last year I was diagnosed with mixed hyperlipidemia .Got my labs back for 7 months post op . Cholesterol dropped 48 points and I have no sign of hyperlipidemia! All my labs were normal.
  8. Haven’t posted on here in awhile. I am finally starting to get my energy back and feel somewhat normal again. I’m happy with my weight loss, made it to onederland, down 56 lbs in 9.5 weeks. NSV- I had to reset my saved seat position in my car, I can fit in my upgraded wedding ring again after it being too tight for the past five years, Had to tighten my berks since my feet have narrowed, and of course the extreme bagginess of most of my clothes. Still struggling with water and protein, two trips to the emergency room and a hospital stay later and I’m working harder on my water. 😀 Glad to see so many of you doing great!
  9. Glad to hear from you! That sucks at vomiting. Hope it doesn't happen again. Yassssss @ exercising. Same here, working out feels so much better now lol. I feel so happy knowing this time next year, I will be super healthy. I have a small NSV. My XL Old Navy shirt, its huge..down to a large woohoo. Keep pushing everyone! Looking forward to hearing from you all.

What is the best feedback your therapist ever gave you?

I got *really* lucky. Both of my therapist's parents had gastric bypass, so she really understands everything I go through and am going through. The best thing she ever told me is that with all the things I've been through to get here (I had a lot of complications after my sleeve), I'm alive and healthy and doing well for myself. I can still have a bad day, but it'll never be as bad as it had been now that I'm getting healthy for myself. She also mentioned that on bad body image days, I should try my best to focus on the fact that this is a *healthy* change for me, even if I feel like I'm still big. NSVs are a huge thing for us, and she tries to make me find one a week to tell her, especially if I was having a bad week. I can always find something, though, so I know something's working, and it's been really helping with my body image because, hey, I *am* making changes, even if my brain doesn't want to accept it sometimes.
  11. I am officially 7 months post surgery and am incredibly happy with my progress so far. I'm down 122.4 lbs total, and 80.8 since surgery. A few of my NSVs: - The arthritis in my knees causes significantly less pain - I am walking 2 miles most days, and hiking when I get the chance (up to 6 or more miles) - My strength and endurance is increasing. I still get winded and need to take breaks (especially on inclines) but there's no way I could have done some of the hikes I'm doing pre-surgery. - I'm down from a tight 2X to a L or XL. - I have collarbones again Below pics is from shortly after I started my journey (pre-surgery) to this morning.

    OOTD

Am having friends over for drinks on the deck tonight. No worries about mosquitoes here at the moment so you’d be safe @GreenTealael but frost bite is a distinct possibility. Brrrr. Not an OOTD, more a NSV I wanted to share. Yesterday I was putting on some opaque tights & I realised I was standing & bending over to put them on. I used to have to sit down & physically lift one leg up & place it over the other just to pull one leg on. Happy dance.

3 weeks PO and no weight loss

I had mine in March I'm down 26 lbs. Just keep going it will come off. Like everyone says. It will happen. I've been bummed that I haven't lost much. But I have NSV all the time. Everybody's different. ❤❤
  14. A couple of other cool NSVs: While out hiking, a friend was walking behind me (one of the few that know I had the surgery). She made a .comment about how different I look from behind and that my waist was cutting in I ordered a new v neck tshirt in size L and it fit perfect!!! I was wearing 2XL and many of them were too tight. I was cleaning out my coat closet today (I've cleaned out my main closet a few times, but never got around to my coats). Being in Northern California and wIth surgery end of December, then Covid, I didn't really wear most of my coats this year. I have a raincoat that last year was really tight - I could wear it but couldn't button all the buttons. I tried it on today and it was HUGE. You could literally fit another person in there with me Yay!

    Recent NSVs

What are your recent NSVs? I'm 11 days post op. And I have a couple NSVs: 1. My sister had a pool yesterday and she ordered pizza, wings and fries and I was not tempted by any of it! I was so worried about the food temptation, I almost canceled. 2. I meal prepped (first time ever) and brought my lunch and snack to the party. 3. I was comfortably able to tie my shoes while sitting in a chair. (Heeeeyyy) 4. I ran after small kids at a pool party.
  16. Am I the only one who loves purging my closet? I filled 3 large garbage bags today with all my size 14 & 16 pants, all my XL tops and a good portion of my size L tops, several dresses and a bunch of shoes that are now too big. All donated to a women’s shelter. Started a new bag for my 12’s and the rest of my L tops as I move out of those in to 10’s and M’s. Feels so good!
  17. I am almost 6 months post op and took my first vacation this week (Drove up to Tahoe). I went with some friends who did not know about the surgery but knew I was actively losing weight and trying to eat healthier and it wasn't awkward at all. I didn't snack, but I did eat some meals I shouldn't have. But between watching how much and exercise, I was down just over 2 lbs for the week. In the past, anytime I vacationed I would be up so I'm super excited. I had some great NSVs while I was out. - Hiked almost every day - around 5 miles, intermediate hikes, at elevation. Still hard, but I did it. - Kayaked, and was able to get in and out easily. - They had standard size bath towels in the bathroom, and it wrapped all the way around me without a gap! - It was my birthday and I didn't have any cake, and really didn't miss it. I tried alcohol for the first time since surgery. I had a glass a wine a couple of times and did fine. However, I had about 1/3 of a margarita and felt awful. I don't think I full on dumped, but I think if I had drunk any more I would have. It's the first time I've had any amount of sugar so lesson learned. I'm going back to not drinking for a while (it will continue to be an occasional event going forward).

    NSV!!!!

Hey everyone. I hope that y’all are doing good. So the other day, my little girl came to give me a hug. I was standing at the time and all of a sudden she got really excited and said “mommy, I can put my arms all the way around you now”!!!! It might be dumb to some but it made me so happy and I had to hide my tears from her! Also, tonight!!!! I took a very comfortable bath for the first time in a very looonnnng time! Before, I couldn’t even sit comfortably in the tub.
  22. I am exactly 5 months post op today, and am doing great! I'm not the biggest loser, but my loss has been fairly steady and I'm happy. So far I'm down 64 pounds since surgery (105 total) and a total of 40 inches since surgery (including 7 from my waist). Still a ways to go to get to goal, but I'm committed for the long run. NSVs I am walking around 2 miles most days. Pre surgery, I could walk but was in pain from arthritis and tendinitis after a very small amount I went hiking last weekend and did 6 miles pretty easily I've outgrown pretty much all my old clothes, even the "small" ones from storage My arthritis pain is significantly lower than it was I am not exhausted and falling asleep on the couch in the evening. (when we are allowed, I'd feel good enough to go out and do things on weeknights) I have my 6 month appt (via phone) in about 3 weeks and I'll get my blood work done before that, but I think things should be well since I'm doing well with food, fluid, and vitamins.

    Never Felt So Good

Congratulations!! That's a lot of NSVs!! You are rocking it!!!
  24. I climbed a mountain. No seriously, I CLIMBED A MOUNTAIN! I stopped doing uphill hikes MANY years ago because my tachycardia was so bad it made me short of breath to the point I had to rest every 20 feet. Today? I hiked for 14.2 miles. I took the shorter but steeper path up, and the longer but less steep way down. I climbed 3989 ft. I reached the summit of our local mountain. It was amazing. And for most of the uphill, I was able to stop at normal people intervals. And only 4 people passed me (one at the beginning, one in the middle, and a couple at the end. I did stop more frequently when was getting closer to the summit, but I really don't think it was moreso than the average exhausted hiker. My HR WAS quite high during all the incline, but my breathing was still controlled. And this is WITHOUT my tachycardia medication which I had to stop several months ago because my BP was getting too low. Needless to say, this is a major victory.

    October Surgery Roll Call

I started my preop diet on 5 May 2019 and tend to think of this date as my anniversary, rather than my actual surgery date of 15 Oct 2019. Since May 2019 I've lost about 140lbs; 90lbs of this was after being sleeved. I lead a very busy, very active life and my goal weight is within sight, but it's more important to me to be fit, strong, and healthy, which I now am. Before becoming MO, I was a competitive athlete, and am again able to participate in sports and fitness the way I used to. There have been dozens of NSV's, and I'm grateful for every one of them. My focus continues to be on the psychological adjustments and actions required to permanently change my habits and behaviors. Since the coronavirus lockdown, I've continued to strictly follow an eating and exercise schedule so that I remain on track. With so much uncertainty at this time, what I put in my mouth and do with my body are one of the few things within my control right now. Congrats and well done to all my fellow Oct sleevers.
