  1. Had the sleeve procedure 7/3/19. I’ve been vegetarian over 15 years, moving from vegan to vegetarian a few times. Vegan is much better! I find dairy causes a lot of inflammation and so I had to kick the cheese, which I loved. I like the substitutes. Even nutritional yeast can give that cheesy flavor I like.

  4. Ive struggled with my weight all my life, it judt seems like a never ending battle. I had a failed lap band and I've now been approved for the DS on July 23rd 2019.. I'm so excited about also extremely nervous! I don't want to fail! I'm having anxiety dreams about being the only person to gain 25lbs a month after the surgery lol. Any and all encouragement and advice is welcome! Thank you!!

    One week update- I've been home from the hospital since two days after my surgery. Recovering well and looking forward to posting more updates about the process and my progress.  Ask me some questions to make sure I address your needs :)

      Hi I'm having revision surgery from sleeve to mini bypass in 20 min... The only thing I'm nervous about is having bad gas after. I didn't have any with the sleeve

So Friday was a normal day felt pretty good stopped to see a friend and ended up having a drink which led to to many and proceeded to eat and drink all night long boy did i feel like **** Saturday at work ate a lot of bad stuff not alot of it just bar food(deep fried garbage ) still paying for it today feeling like i failed over the weekend and now i must be more diligent about what i eat and drink period did all the wrong things over the weekend and i know it first time in ten months i have really slipped off so feeling really guilty about it and through all of this i was able to drop below 200lbs still do not fell good about it i know it only 1 pound that was a bugger of a 1lb so back on the horse that threw me now and staying focused on me not the good time (that really was not that much fun ) oh by the way ALM is not as good at drinking as i once was for sure rant over thanks for listening
  9. My original date of June 17 had to be cancelled because I failed my stress test, which in turn caused the surgery to be postponed. Everything’s OK now & I officially have a new date! July 22nd awaits! I’m excited, nervous & pumped all at once. The countdown begins!
  10. Hi! I’m brand new here! I’m having a VSG on July 9th and my husband is completely NOT supportive and keeps telling me I’ll regret it. I’m only 5 feet and 1 inch and weigh 215 and I am SO ready for this! Any advice? Thanks so much! Jennifer

I was sleeved February 15th at a weight of 228, I had lost 10 pounds the previous week while on a low carb pre-op diet.  By mid-March I was around 215, mid-April I weighed around 210, mid-May around 205 and mid-June around 202.  So I have been losing very slowly even though I have been very active and watching what I eat.  The last 2 weeks has been really odd as I was in Singapore for work and lost .5kg during the week, usually I gain on work trips.  Then since being home the last 6 days I have lost 5 pounds.  I have not seen this consistent weight loss since the first 10 days of surgery.  I am thinking my body is finally giving up on holding onto the extra weight.  I kept telling myself that at some point my weight has to go down, my calories are regularly around 900-1,100 calories per day.         

    The good thing about this slow losing - no one has questioned my weight loss since it appears very slow and natural.  Other than my husband no one knows I had surgery and I intend to keep it that way.

      If you are concerned about your intake or macros, post a day of eating.

  14. Whether you are having a bypass or a gastric sleeve, anyone else out there on July 1st?? Pre-op is pretty much what I expected....blah I know I've seen some other July 1st peeps out there....would be nice to be able to keep track and talk, especially when some of the 'night before' and 'day of' jitters kick in. Heck, I'd be happy to hear from anyone around the July 1st date (clarification: AM happy to hear from ANYONE - I like people...most people..like..90% of ppl..LOL) Have some lovely ppl who have already been through this that have been SO SUPPORTIVE like frustr8, AZHiker (did I get that right) and then peeps on the July 2019 surgery topics... Man, July 1st snuck up on me!! How about y'all?? Unsure if we need to cancel our traditional July 4th swim party. I don't do the food, and we have very little family left but my folks, before they passed, had asked that we keep some of the traditional gatherings going. I don't care if I happen to be in hospital and hubby always cooks. I want my brother and nephews, etc. to have somewhere to go..wow, that was a rabbit trail I wasn't expecting..sorry!

    Just sleeved 6-17-19!!

    Hey! Looking for a Sleeve Sister or even brother to talk back and forth with! Here's a short story about me- I was banded in 2005 when I was 15 in Tijuana by Dr. Ortiz. Over 13 years, I lost about 70 lbs but by 2018 I had gained it all back. I found Dr. Udelhofen in Cincinnati, Ohio (working under Trace Curry) and he determined my band was slipped. I had no idea, but I believe it. So he removed my band in July of 2018 and initially I wanted to get the sleeve done the same day but decided against it. I didn't want to quit smoking and quit drinking. March/April 2019 I decided I wanted to go forth with it. I stopped smoking and decided to put my alcohol consumption on hold and here I am - 2 days post-sleeve! So far- I'm really not in pain. I feel nauseous more than I feel pain. Last night was terrible - I was in the shower taking off my dressings and got 2 of the 5 off when I felt really sick and dizzy. Thankfully, I'm staying with my parents currently since I'm single and I was able to get my Mom to help me out. But today I feel great. The only time I get any pain is when I'm sitting up out of the chair or getting out of bed. Speaking of bed, anyone else not able to sleep through the night? I typically am a side sleeper but I can only sleep on my back right now. So I'm up practically all night until I go to the chair to sleep. How long will this last for?! Anyone get hunger pains? I typically take a muscle spasm pill when my hunger pains start. Drinking 2 oz of powerade zero / water / protein water every 30 mins. Oh, since I'm new - How do I get one of those little goal tracker things you guys have at the bottom of your posts?~?~?
  23. Hi everyone. I had my r n y on May 22nd and was discharged the very next day. Everything was going well just the minimum pulling at the incision sites and soreness. About two weeks after surgery I woke up in the middle of the night with severe pain in my stomach and then began throwing up it scared me so bad because I was so worried about tearing something inside and my doctor is in San Antonio Texas miles away from here in Mississippi. I was just at the point of soft foods and was tolerating scrambled eggs and refried beans and yogurt. But slowly I am now not able to tolerate anything but liquids. I get this ball feeling in my chest like something is stuck a rock and it sliding up and down and then shortly after that I start throwing up. It's not food it's a very thick mucus. I have developed a severe UTI and was prescribed an antibiotic in liquid form but I can't even keep that down. The doctor said there is narrowing at a certain point after the surgery where the stomach connects to the small intestines and he said within a week or two it should dilate itself.
