vegasvirgo32 replied to LivingFree!'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello everyone . I am going through the three week stall and it is the puts. My surgery was on June 11th this year and so far I've lost 20 lbs so far. Now I'm non my fourth week and I hope it gets better. I'm still taking my vitamins and calcium . I'm also in taking my protein shakes, at least 40-50 grams. Since I've been back to work, it's really hard to find a eating balance schedule, but I do the best I can. I need to know is will the stalling pass soon? Please help!!! -

I was sleeved 6/17. On 6/10 when I started my diet I was 190. Today, six weeks, I'm 163. 27 pounds. I was in a three week stall 9 days after surgery. Just recently the pounds started coming off again. I hope to get in the 130s. I hope this helps. I look forward to the journey no matter how how up and down it may be -
21 Days Post Gastric Sleeve Op And Have Question About The Weight Loss
Lissa replied to LeLe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Renee, How close are you to TOM? Lots of ladies notice a couple of pound increase just before because we are retaining Water, then most see a loss immediately afterwards. That three week stall is a booger, isn't it!? I was so worried about mine, but just kept doing the water, doing the Protein, and then I had a big drop, 4 or 5 pounds, IIRC. I hit another one at the end of my 2nd month/beginning of the 3rd month, so I upped my walking and gained a pound. My regular doc told me that I wouldn't lose until I backed off the walking for a few days. I rolled my eyes when he told me that muscle weighs more than fat, but he's right. And, during that second stall, I lost inches in a hurry! That's when I dropped the second pants size, so always check your measurements when you stall on the scale. Also, always look for those NSV's (non scale victories). I've had tons of them lately and I make sure to keep my eyes open for them. Something as simple as being able to slide into a booth in a restaurant will thrill me, although I might not say anything to my dining companions. I was thrilled to be able to buy a belt...and then it was too big the first time I wore it! I had to adjust my car seat because I not longer need to sit way to one side so that the seat belt latch doesn't dig into my tush. Those are all somewhat silly, but they are the things that make me go YEAH! Good luck to you all! -

Scared to stop losing going into puréed stage??
Hop_Scotch replied to Mommy wants to be able's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hate to be the bearer of what you may consider to be bad news, but a large percentage of those who have weight loss surgery experience a stall or stalls. The first stall can typically happen within the first few weeks, google 'three week stall weight loss surgery' and you will find a lot of info about it. A couple of things to remember you won't be alone in experiencing a stall, most of us have been through it and it not an out of the ordinary event even when eating low calories. If you adhere to your post op guidelines you will get through the stall, it may be a week or two (or even longer) but eventually scale weight will catch up with your body changes. Remember you want to lose fat not just weight. Scale weight doesn't always reflect fat loss. Get out the tape measure, start capturing body measurements. Also look to non scale goals and measures to capture your success in fat loss, health and fitness improvements. How far you can walk or swim, improvements in blood tests for cholesterol, fatty liver etc. Improvements in blood pressure etc etc, clothing sizes reducing and so forth. -
First stall 3 weeks out [emoji853]

Google "three week stall gastric sleeve" or "three week stall vsg" or "three week stall weight loss surgery" and you will see you are not alone. Keep following your program, stay off the scale for a while, and don't give in to stress about it. The scale will start moving again eventually. And yes, constipation can contribute to "stalls" and even "gain" -- poop weighs a lot more than people think and it will show up on the scale! -
I was 304 day of surgery, 7/10/13. Today I am 270. I experienced the three week stall too. I hadn't lost any weight for nearly a week. I just started losing again yesterday.

WHAT am I doing wrong ?
catwoman7 replied to Arthur Belly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
do a search on the three-week stall on this site. Someone did one the other day and posted the results - there were like 17,000 posts on it. Happens to almost everyone. Just stick to your plan and it will break. Could take up to two or three weeks, but it WILL break as long as you stick to your plan. -
How can I be a failure already?
VSGAnn2014 replied to Mini_me007's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh, good grief. Google "three week stall." This happens to everyone somewhere around 2-4 weeks. Everyone! EVERYONE! Surely no one promised you you'd lose at a regular clip or that your scales would behave like a car's gasoline gauge. Because you won't and it won't. Your body is a lot more complicated than that. You're doing fine except for going all drama llama. -
You are not doing anything wrong. Look up the 'three week stall.' It happens to most sleeved people. You lost 24 pounds in less than three weeks. You lost more in 2.5 weeks than most gastric sleeve patients lose in a month. I would be walking on sunshine if I ever lost 24 pounds that fast. It is seriously time to adjust your expectations. You did not gain the weight overnight and will not lose it overnight. With my sleeve, I lost an average of 5 to 6 pounds per month (yes, very slow loser), yet I made it to my goal weight. It took me 18 months to lose 100 pounds. The rate of weight loss does not matter. What matters in the long run is your ability to keep it off for life. There's no point in being a lightning-fast Speedy Gonzales loser if you end up in the majority of sleevers who regain significant weight. Good luck to you. And stay off that scale for several weeks. Hide it!

Samara1974 replied to malvarez1210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of the ladies on my facebook support group found this article about why we have the three week stall (which I am currently in) http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php -
I know I read somewhere there are certain stalls that almost everyone hits (like the three week one) so I hope someone posts that info again. I'd love to see it. I'm six weeks post op. I hit my three week stall, which lasted just over a week. last week I lost 7 lbs, now I'm stalling again. I hope this is not an every-other-week thing!

Stalled after 3 weeks?!?
tcon replied to Anna Montana84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You reached the famous three week stall. I had a few short stalls that lasted 3-5 days. Pay attention to the way your clothes are fitting and not the scale. This to, shall pass. ???? -
Google "three week stall." You're right on schedule.

Surgery was 3/24. I weighed 230 before pre-op liquid diet (only 2 days). Currently weigh 211 but I haven't lost in over a week due to the three week stall;) -
This is so normal, there should be and entire website on the "three week stall." Mine hit at 8 days. So frustrating, but completely normal.

Weight loss/increase 2 weeks post-op?
ShoppGirl replied to Vivis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That small of an increase could be anything. Retaining water, full bowels, etc. Fluctuations of a up to a few pounds can even happen within a single day. I wouldn’t worry too much about that. And as for the few days without losing it’s possible that you hit your three week stall early. It’s so common that they have that name for it. It happens “around” the third week for most. If the little fluctuations are going to bother you you may be better to weigh yourself less often because stalls do happen and so do those small fluctuations. As long as the overall trend is down you will be fine. -
Crying on the bathroom floor

Don't worry! I stalled in week 3 .. It's the dreaded three week stall.. Everyone goes through it.. Consider it a right of passage.. And week 5 I gained 2 lbs! It's just your internal thermostat regulator adjusting your body is freaking out! Now, with that being said.. I freaked out too.. Just try and relax.. Do what your supposed to do and it will come off!! I'm 5 months out and including pre-op I'm down 72 lbs.. You'll get there!! . Also, look up the Instagram community for support too.. I use it and I love it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I was sleeved May 2nd - this has been the hardest process but best decision of my life! Through the most strict "diet" I've ever followed I only lost 30 lbs...since the start of my 2 weeks pre-op, I've lost 27 lbs. I've hit my "three week stall" but the inches are melting off! My mother in law was actually my inspiration for the surgery - she had it about 3 years ago and has lost 200+ lbs. so my husband had no worry and nothing but support for me when I told him this was what I was doing. Also, he gets home before me so does the majority of the cooking...it has been a really tough journey and the stall is disheartening but so far, no regret Best of luck to you all!!

I think the scale is going to be the death of me!
catwoman7 replied to bgjon5's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
look up "three week stall". It happens to almost everyone, and it's not always at the three week mark. But sometime within the first month or two, almost everybody has a major stall. Mine lasted two weeks. Just stick to your program - it'll break. After mine ended, I dropped like 6 or 8 lbs just in a couple of days. -
This sounds like the infamous "three week stall"—there are thousands and thousands and thousands of posts here about it. Just stay the course and the weight loss will resume!

I was on a three week stall and finally lost three pounds, not much but I'll take it. And I hit my first goal. Now onto the next short goal.
