I had my sleeve on 2/11 as well! I’ve been on soft/solids since last Thursday and this Thursday I’m released to a regular (portion modified) diet. My vitamins make me want to throw up SO BAD. I have found that if I take them with applesauce it’s not as bad. The surgeon’s office also recommended yogurt. Can’t wait to move to capsules in a few weeks.

I tried the egg drop soup (takeout) and I was surprised that it didn't upset my stomach. Oddly enough I'm struggling with the Protein Shakes and yogurt. BTW I had the sleeve on the 19th.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using BariatricPal mobile app -
Me and the husband advice please
Kay07 replied to newmebithebypass's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Healthy_life2 has the right of it! Cooking healthy, nutritional meals doesn't have to be time consuming. It does take a bit of preplanning. My husband and I struggled with this too. Both working long hours away from home, it was just so much easier to pick up a pizza instead of cooking at home. However years of this has taken it's toll, and my size 24s started getting real tight, and my husband was not far behind. Now we preplan. I am making sheet pan (roasted chicken + veggies for the family with plenty left over. However I roast 6 breasts, use 3 for dinner for my family of 4, and use the other 3 for different things. Like chopping up and putting in salad for the next day's lunch. Turning another one into chicken salad with greek yogurt and dried cranberries. And turning the last one into a caprese salad because mozzarella is amazing. There are so many shortcuts, so many easy ways to make prep quick and painless! -

I'm 4 months out. I prep when I can, but I also have things I can grab and eat - I just make sure they're healthy. I still can't eat that much, but some things I have on hand that serve as a meal in a pinch: Sargento balanced breaks (it has cheese and nuts and cranberries. Not terribly expensive at Costco) Parm chips and a cup of hummus A babybel cheese and an oz of almonds If you like tofu, I buy those baked/flavored tofus - I just cut up one serving and eat it cold. Cup of yogurt I also always have some frozen single-serving ricotta bakes and cooked beans in the freezer. I'll make a double batch of the ricotta bake, which is 8 servings, and freeze at least half. I also have a mini-freezer in my garage that I can use in a pinch (which I had from meal prep before I had surgery). -

I was also had sleeve surgery on the 19th. I am down 20 lbs. I know what you mean about the jello and pudding, but for me it is yogurt and protein shakes!! I am loving the egg drop soup though. Homemade or takeout, though I have to say takeout is the best. Poached eggs and cottage cheese and pineapple pureed are also up on my list! -
I try to get in at least one scoop of protein every day along with high protein foods. Recently I found that after mixing in my protein powder with my greek yogurt and let it set for a minute or two allows the protein to absorb into my yogurt or cottage cheese lessens the taste of the powder. I also add some stevia. It's a nice tip just thought I'd share my experience. Sent from my SM-J337P using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi Everyone. Sleeved 2/25. So far so good. Pain is easing up. No problem with drinking my fluids so far. Stomach let's me know when to stop. Getting 30gm of protein in so far with shakes. Trying yogurt later with a little protein power, fingers crossed. Everyone sounds like they are finding what they need to be doing for themselves which is fantastic since it is all about us working together doing what we need to do. I seem to be the only one on here with a heart issue which requires a blood thinner. As a result I'm having tarry stools. I have a call out to my doctor. Also have blood work scheduled for tomorrow. At best I hoping to stop one of the thinners but have a sick feeling I might have to go back into the hospital. Not letting this get the best of me. I can continue with progress. Reading everyone's post has been so uplifting. Sorry took me so long to get caught up and post. I' be been walking in the house and the gas is improving. Was constipated took some mom and that resolved it. Miralax, and smooth move tea had been suggested on other boards. Trying them next. I have to check my weight every day for water retention. I 'm good as long as the numbers don't go up. Bonus when they go down. I'd been at a stall for over a year and up till surgery was going to cardiac rehab gym 3x a week for cardio and strength training. Had a good amount of non weight success dropping almost 2 pant sizes. Didn't mean to carry on so long, just wanted to catch you all up. -
I get mine from farmers market. He makes sheep’s milk Greek yogurt with fruit and no added sugar. It’s so much better than anything from the grocery. The sheep’s milk makes it so creamy and incredible.

I am still having problems eating certain foods and eating too fast and I am like 9 weeks out . I throw up every time I eat chicken salad .. sometimes even cottage cheese ! I cannot eat anything dense at all. Am to the point where I just survive on yogurt and scrambled eggs with a bit of spinach ..also an occasional piece of string cheese or laughing cow wedge . -

Same in the United States. Low-fat yogurt is an option when you're on full liquids. 😀 -
Oh Elizatek - First of all, I’m thrilled with my results with the sleeve. Down 65 pounds from August surgery. One if the things I looked forward to most was the magical feeling of not feeling hungry and getting full after just a few bites of food. But I have neither. My typical eating day: Breakfast; slice of bread spread with wedge of laughing cow cheese, slice of prosciutto and 2 sunny side up eggs. I eat 3/4 and my dog eats 1/4 Lunch: a big veggie salad with yogurt salad dressing (I work on this for 2 hours) and a chicken sausage. Snack: cup of berries Dinner: 4-6 oz protein and a cup of spiralized veggies. Snack: 2 cups popcorn cooked in minimal oil I eat 1200-1400 calories daily. I think I may give up bariatric vitamins and switch to gummies. I actually eat much healthier now. I love my mocha calcium chews - they are my candy! I’m also focusing on a healthy long term relationship with food. I eat cake happily - but maybe 1x per month. I love going out to eat. But I always order things I will like as leftovers since I get 2-3 meals out of 1 order. Bariatric surgery will not transport you to Nirvana. You will have to work to be successful. Can’t remember who said it, but bariatric surgery does not make weightloss easy - it makes it possible.

Following this as I’ve been struggling with this issue as well. Was sleeved 2/6, and had a horrible thrush infection 3 days post-op that we’ve used oral lozenges and diflucan for and it’s come back twice..... second time it came back down below also so I’m taking a couple more diflucan AND using monistat. The worst part is I eat some kind of yogurt almost every day

I would try a soft scrambled egg before a boiled egg, easier on the tummy. I had my surgery the 19th and so far I haven't had many issues, but I've been making sure to chew really well and wait in between each bite. I've had yogurt, jello, very mashed cottage cheese, avocado, a soft scrambled egg, refried beans and chili (pureed in a blender) plus the broth and strained soups from the earlier stage. Take it slow and you'll get there! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app -

About to finish my purée stage in a few days. It’s been challenging because the first few days anything other than liquids really filled me up and it’s been difficult to get in Protein. My advice is start slowly and try to limit your intake to protein only. The first couple days I tried to add in soft veggies because it seems like it makes more sense to try to get in a balanced diet, but then my protein intake took a nosedive and I had a stall. It was weird at first, but I started eating meals like 1/4 cup tuna mashed with Greek yogurt or 1 scrambled egg, or ounce ground beef and 1/2 ounce goat cheese, etc.... I have to trust that my bariatric Vitamins will carry me through until I have room for other nutrients besides all protein. Oh, and my “snack” is 8 ounces fairlife milk, between lunch and dinner. Usually with that I can now hit protein requirements (60gram according to my NUT) and not compromise Water intake (80 ounces or more daily). Just looked over my food logs and I’m actually consuming way less carbs daily than I was on the liquid phase. Don’t get discouraged if it takes you a few days to a week to figure out what your body can deal with during this phase. -

I am 4 weeks post op...eating soft foods and drinking fine. By Soft I mean...yogurt, cottage cheese, ground meats, fish. I have tried recently - a few bites of chicken breast that was not dry- was fine ...a homemade cheeseburger (was also fine)- no bun of course and ate it for two meals and still tossed some. And I am to eat soft veggies but i dont have room for them most meals...I supplement with one protein shake IF i have not met my protein goals. I also eat string cheese and some other things per my plan. I haven't gone out to a restaurant yet but I could and feel comfortable if i had to right now. Just watch sugars, butters, etc....and customize things. That being said you have to check where you will be on your plan at 4.5 weeks..... I would be totally fine walking around at a park and the beach. I would likely be tired from the amusement park earlier than everyone else but I have no issues drinking water. I get around 100 ounces a day now- but would like to get a bit more. Check with your team but I think you will be fine as long as things are going well. Best of luck!

So I had surgery 10 days ago. We have a scheduled trip at 4.5 weeks post op. It includes a day at an amusement park and the beach. I am guessing I wont get into the ocean past my knees which is fine and I wont do any roller coaster rides etc. My husband is worried I wont be able to eat, will get dehydrated etc and wants to cancel. How hard is it to find and eat soft foods when out and about? The thing that worries me is trying a new fish etc for the first time at a restaurant. I know I can take shakes with me and have yogurt and feel safe with that so far.

I tried this yesterday. I put a whole scoop in one container of yogurt. I don’t know if it was the yogurt or the protein but it tasted pretty disgusting. I think going forward I won’t go full blast with the one scoop. I took a couple of bites and threw it away. Maybe less is more. -

I am not allowed to take capsules, only tablets smaller than a dime. I have the chewable ones. They are kinda gross. maybe you can open the capsule and sprinkle it over a spoon of yogurt to swallow. If not set aside the capsules and get chewable for now? -
yeah the texture issues are bad for me as well. I cannot eat cottage cheese at all, pureed or not. took me WEEKS to get down yogurt.

My biggest thing would be YOGURT. Have always hated the sour milk taste and no matter what brand I tried I could not get past it. THEN I found OIKOS Lemon Meringue! Top with sugar free Cool Whip and VOILA it is Dessert for breakfast!
