  1. Hi everyone, This morning I fill horrible... I mean horrible. I can't keep anything down when I tried to drink my protein shake it HURT SO BAD and then it came right back up. (sorry TMI) Now I have nothing in me but I still fill awful. I'm wondering if this could be a fill that is to tight (again - second go round for me) or could I have a bug or something?? I'm going to call my Dr but they do not open for another 1 1/2 hours
  2. Worst. Dumping. Ever. Last. Night.

So I thought I would throw caution to the wind and sample some of the fruit salad that my mom brought over for the fam. I dutifully portioned out 1/8 cup of the stuff.  I figured the sugar in the fruit may be in issue, but come on, 1/8 cup?  Barely a couple bites, should be fine.

Before I could finish it, my heart started to feel like it was beating out of my chest.

Ended up in the washroom barfing. And while I was barfing, I had to :70_poop:.  I was literally alternating ends to face the toilet until it felt like there was nothing left in my insides.  I swear more came out of me that I even put in it over the last 3 days.

I laid down with my forehead on the cold bathroom floor tile for like 20 minutes afterwards to recuperate.  Then Mr. (my hero :1007_hearts:) carried me to the shower and helped me crawl into bed.

So yeah, I'm feeling pretty shitty this AM.

And on a lesser note: LOVE the NSV that he was able to pick you up off the floor and carry you to the shower! :) Um, hopefully NOT firemen's style! ;) haha

  3. Ok so last night I decided to have some Soup 4 days post op, it was actually clam chowder and I went ahead ahead and had a bowl which is like half the can of Progresso. I consumed the entire bowl (potatoes and all) and made sure to chewed up everything finely. Then over night I had a stomach ache that appeared to be trapped gas, I took my gas drops this morning, along with some more hydro-codone (from the overnight sleeping aches I've been getting) and also tried to release some gas (sorry if TMI) and the pain still insist until now (the next day at 3:30). I know I'm already messing up, not draining the soup but does anyone think this dull ache is from the full soup consumption or could it be due to the fact that I have yet to have a BM? Ok, maybe this is way too much TMI but what about when he... You know... I guess we have to spit it out because it may be too much at first?
  5. Hey there fellow nuts. I ended up helping a friend at her holistic fair today, in order to prep, I hate a shake in the morning and bought an Isopure to keep my protein up. I didn't get home until 5:30 and got some of my chili and chewed it well. Probably not enough but I did my best, seeing as I was starving. I must make a note that eating when super hungry should not be done. I am glad to keep fluids up though. So that was good. Oh and about this TMI topick Bowels? Mine are still not working right. I need to take something. Nearly 11 days post op you would think things would be moving right. UGH, I think if I could use the bathroom I might loose 3 pounds!
  6. Surgery on Monday July 29th. Still sore and trying to get fluids down. Went to the bathroom and low and behold..a small BM. No shakes or food (just isopure) so I don't know where it came from. No meds to help out. Just automatic. Anybody else that lucky? Pre Surg: 274 Today: 268
  7. TMI alert!!! I prepared my husband for the smells before I had surgery and I'm a month post-op now. Incredibly, my poop never smells. I'm totally serious. I mean it smells a little, of course, but its nothing. I don't get it. Before surgery it was way grosser than it is now. I wonder why?
  8. BobbieVSG

    Rant time.

Okay so I'm 3 1/2 months post-op and I'm currently in a stall. It's not bothering me too much because I'm still seeing changes so I'm just going to try keep hydrated, lots of Protein and exercise. But, I am just feeling really down. I had my 3 month check up last week and she said I need to eat more.. Being told all my life to eat less and now it's suddenly reversed. I feel like I cant physically eat more. The little that I do eat seems like far too much. But I'm trying, it just doesn't help that people are trying to force me when they don't understand (friends and family etc). Also, I've damaged the nerves in my stomach apparently? From the surgery and it'll be numb and sore for a long while so that makes me feel worse. Oh and I'm constipated (sorry for the tmi) I just can't go so I feel bloated. I don't know, I guess I'm just so down and it's all getting to me. I'm so grateful for this operation I don't want to seem rude, it's life changing. I just hope things start getting better. Has anyone else felt so down so soon after the vsg? Please let me know. Thank you.
  9. Hey everyone! This may be TMI but I wasn't quite sure what to do, and I wanted to know if any of you have had this issue. I was sleeved on Monday (yay!), and on Wednesday I had a small BM, but today when I woke up I had diarrhea, and then later in the day (a long time after one nectar Protein drink and not long after a second), I had it again. I don't believe I am dehydrated, as generally these drinks are in my body long enough, but I do know that it is a risk. Is it just my body adjusting, the fact that I am using Water based Protein Drinks, or something else? My doctor's office is closed at the moment, so I cannot call them. Thanks! =^.^= Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-Op liquid diet help

I'm so glad for you about the liquid diet thing. :clap2: But, from the symptoms that you described I'd be worried about your bowels. I know, TMI. But, hear me out. If you're feeling like you need to go but can't then you have episodes of diarrhea that could be something else. I know you were on a liquid diet (for the most part) and liquids in=liquids out, but I can't quite shake the feeling that something else may be going on. If you feel the urge, but can't go maybe you have a bit of a blockage or at the very least constipation. I know what you're thinking, "how could I be constipated when I'm having diarrhea"? When you're really constipated, sometimes BM gets hung up in there but still lets liquid stool around the blockage. This is a very common symptom with fecal impaction. That combined with the fact that you said your tummy just doesn't feel right, even possibly painful. I'd get this checked out BEFORE surgery. Because anesthetics slow the bowels and could cause even more problems. Talk to your PCP. I wouldn't resort to laxatives, enemas or suppositories but make sure your doctor hears about your symptoms.........ALL OF THEM, including what you were eating. Because there wasn't much bulk to it. I don't know what you were eating before, but you never know. I wish you all the luck in the world and hope that these symptoms are nothing but a passing phase.
  11. 7 days post op… sharing experience (this is very long) I traveled 5/27…. (I was on liquids which did include protein shakes (so not clear liquids only) per OCC. I packed Atkins shakes in checked bag with no problem. Also took individual packet of Syntrax Nectar in carry on. It was easier to travel on liquids than I expected. Marriott Hotel was nice and restaurant was very accommodating to OCC patients. Just advise them you are OCC patient and they bring you broth and Popsicle (covered by OCC). The bottled water IN restaurant is not covered. Your chicken broth can be enhanced w/ pepper and lime for a little more flavor. The day of surgery, patients met to take shuttle over to OCC together. It was nice getting to meet and greet each of them and educational in learning tidbits they shared. Once @ OCC we were ask for printed copies of our survey. I recommend printing a copy and taking with you. Then I met w/ Dr Miranda to discuss post-op diet. Then Cardiologist. We were asked to put on booties before having blood work done and IV’s put in. Then I was taken to room where Dr Ortiz introduced himself. While in room I was given sublinquil medication for pain and nausea as well as something in IV. It made me feel so calm and relaxed…. Then off to surgery. I remember being introduced to anesthesiologist and before he finished talking I was “out.” Next thing I remember is being back in room and told to “WAKE UP”. I was a little groggy from the anesthesia but up walking w/in the hour. I did have to go to the bathroom quite a bit so I was up walking the halls back and forth to the bathroom. Visitors have to leave @ 4PM. About 6 I was up and wandering the halls and discovered 2 computers for patient use. I checked FB and sent some messages to friends to let them know how I was doing. Next day, IV came out and patients gathered for trip back to Hotel. Only one patient (the last surgery of previous day) stayed a little longer. The rest of us were good to go. I slept on and off most of day 2 post op. (but I was able to sleep on left side with no issues) Day 3 we went back to OCC for drain check… Then walked to Wal-Mart for shopping and had the broth of a soup @ Chili’s w/ another patient. We stopped at a small convenience store across from Marriott for Popsicle on the way back. They had mango Popsicle which were WONDERFUL. (store has a big donuts on outside of it) Day 4 was drain removal..(Which pinched a little but nothing bad) and travel back to SD thru customs and check into the hotel we chose. We ate @ Red Lobster and I thinned down some Lobster bisque. Then we walked to a strip center and shopped, had mani-pedi’s and toured the grocery store Von’s where I got Earl Grey Tea. Felt more like vacation than post surgery. Day 5 was a long day of travel but again, I did GREAT! We left @ 8:30AM in taxi to airport and didn’t arrive home until 12:15 PM that night. I did purchase an extra dose of the pain med and did take one that AM just to be on safe side but probably could have done it w/o it. I have had little to no pain. Just a little discomfort occasionally from gas (TMI). Actually felt so well when I got home I might have over done it just a little. I kept popping up to do something else and was using my legs more for the up and down from chair. My knees hurt a little but stomach is still great! I am having no trouble sipping or consuming full liquids. I actually do seem to know when I get hungry and need more. It is still early so I am only getting about 500-600 calories and 30 grams of protein right now. But that is what is expecting per diet plan. Pre-diet I never dreamed that would be filling but it totally is. OCC gave first class care and can’t say enough good things about my experience w/ OCC and Dr Ortiz. Never would have believed it would have gone this smooth. Back @ work 7 days post op. I'd lost 18.5 lbs prior to surgery, gained 7 during surgery (expected) but by the time I got home day 5, I had lost the 7 plus 5 more for a total wt loss of 23.5 lbs.... Hopefully, this story helps anyone planning to go to Dr Ortiz/OCC to give you some tips and calm any concerns. ( every experience is different but mine was GREAT! )
  12. Gatorade will be your best friend through this stage. I have had lots of diarrhea (sorry if TMI) and that has saved me from dehydration. I think at this point, its trial and error on what will give you some relief. HANG IN THERE!!

    Liquid diet question

Pre-op liquid diet, man I dont miss that! I remember, luckily I only had to do it for 5 days. But one day, a supervisor at work walked in w/ KFC!!! And then offered me a big ol' peice of crispy fried chicken!!!! Talk about will power to say no. I was extremely sluggish on the diet. What helps is the Protein. I still get sluggish if I hadn't had my protein in for the day and i'm about 8 months post op. Now my pre-op diet was CLEAR liquids, so getting in my protein was alittle tricker than if you get full liquids. You could try Isopure, it gets me through when I'm on clear liquids, has something like 40grams of protein, but extremely sweet! Mix w/ Water so you can get it down. Side note- my dietician said when you are on nothing but liquids you can get loose stools. Sorry if that's TMI, but wanted you to be aware.

    Major bad TOM

Ok this is the first time since surgery that I am having a period that I would call "real". However it is beyond heavy! It started out of the blue yesterday with NO PMS warnings what so ever! It started out heavy and has gotten worse. Like someone turned on a faucet! Here comes the TMI part, I am soaking through a tampon into a pad about every hour, had a gusher at work that required a clothing change. When is too much too much and should I go to urgent care for this? I have no cramps, just the faucet flow. I am thinking my hormones are whacked. Any suggestions on slowing it down? PS,,, I am 47.
  15. I'm 7 months post-op and only 5 lbs from goal...and I literally feel like crap. I'm moody and depressed ALL the time and it's really starting to affect my marriage. I don't think my husband can stand me anymore. I knew losing weight wasn't going to make everything perfect but I feel like I went in the opposite direction all together! Yes I love my new body and I feel great physically, but emotionally I'm a wreck!! Anyone else?? I know exercise is good and I go to my gym as regularly as I can but this feeling is draining....Also, and I don't mean to get too 'tmi' here but I have absolutely no 'interest' if you know what I mean...I should love showing off the new 'me' to my husband...but I hardly want him to talk to me, let alone touch me...UGH, I need advice.
  16. Thanks. I feel a little better in some ways. I'm having pretty bad lower abd gas pains. TMI alert... I haven't passed gas yet. I've been walking, tried pillows, and I'm out of ideas. I wish today were not Saturday so I could call my surgeons office. Grr
  17. Omg, I have never been so constipated in my life. Nothing is working. (Warning: TMI) I had to disimpact myself it was so bad. I feel awful. Does anyone else have constipation and how do you prevent it? I think I'm going back to liquids for awhile.
  18. Does anyone else feel their stomach & tolerance for food are very different during your periods. Feeling a bit nauseous.....Ugh. A month sleeved..
  19. I have only slimed once...it was caused by a stuck pill. It hurt like crazy and was very scary because I didn't know what to expect. My mouth just kept filling up with really thick (TMI) saliva. I think the reason the body produces this is to help the stuck food to slide on down. Now since I have had my second fill, occasionally a bite of chicken that is too dry will cause that stuck feeling and my mouth will get a bit of slime, but not nearly as much as when I got the pill stuck. Once you know what is happening it is no longer scary and it reminds you to slow down and take smaller, moister bites. Now I always have a bit of diet salad dressing on my plate to dip the fork into before chewing a piece of dry chicken. If you do vomit or PB (productive burp) it is no biggie. It is not violent like vomiting and it is not gross...no stomach acid in it so it doesn't smell bad. You just don't want to do it too often as that might cause problems for your band.
  20. i have been off of caffeen for 8 months now, i don't drink any soda, there have been no changes at all in the last 3 week...(except drinking more). this also may be tmi, but when i need to pass gas...GOOD LORD...does that sent my head into overdrive!! OUCH..
  21. Well, I spent about 6 hours lounging by the pool yesterday and got burnt to a crisp. Every summer I get burned the first time I go to the pool. This is on a whole different level though, I am really burned bad! Of course I couldn't get in the pool because I am only 13 days post op, but it felt amazing outside, so I had no idea I was being fried. I was sure to stay hydrated all day. Well, last night I was laying on my couch. I asked my daughter to pour me some of my G2 Gatorade. She brought me a glass and I drank about an ounce of it....then something really crazy happened. I felt like I was having a heart attack. I stood up and broke out into a major sweat. I was dizzy. I was seeing black spots. I handed my daughter my phone and told her to call my mom & tell her to come to my house that I needed to go to the emergency room. I got the sudden urge to use the restroom (TMI, I know) - I had diarrhea and within a minute or two, poof- I was totally normal! WTF?? I asked my daughter what she put in the glass, she told me she put Kool Aid...FULL SUGAR FILLED KOOL AID! She is only 9, so I couldn't get upset with her. I am assuming this was a reaction to the sugar? If so, I will NEVER put anything with sugar near my lips again!!! I guess that is a good thing, but geez I thought I was going to die!!! Anyone else experienced this??????

    Discomfort

Okay, this might be TMI, but I am going to ask the question. Yesterday I had a difficult time having a BM. After I finally had success, I had some discomfort in my band area. I thought it would disapate with time, but it hasn't. I am still have some discomfort there. I can eat with out getting stuck or having pain. Drinking is fine. I have stayed full for 3.5 hours on Breakfast so far. I do have a call in to the doc, but just wondering has any one else had this experience? I feel like it is most likely muscle strain from the straining, but not sure.
  23. anyone else have stinky poos since being sleeved? I know tmi tmi but still... sorry in advance.
  24. I've had 3 prolonged PBs but all of mine hurt, so I can't give advice on the "no pain, just burps" part of it. I've tried all the remedies I've heard of and none have ever worked for me. The only thing that maybe works is if I hunch over my island. Could be coincidence, but more than once when I've done this, within a minute I've had relief. Doesn't work all the time though. If you haven't yet, try taking some deep breaths and holding them, then exhaling slowly. This may do nothing, but it used to help me earlier on (although I get to a point where it hurts too much to take a deep breath, let alone hold it.) Also, sorry if this is TMI, but if you have the urge to go poop, give in to it. Sometimes this trikes me when I'm stuck, and going along with it really does seem to help. I have no idea why this is. (I used to call these "PBMs")
  25. I cannot seem to get the "search" feature to work for some reason, so I'm just going to have to throw this out there and hope someone has some insight. Wondering about blood in stools. It's not a whole lot, but definitely streaks. I had some beets a few nights ago, and at first thought that was the culprit, but now I don't think so. I'm almost 3 months post op. Glad for a place to post odd, TMI, questions to a group of people with lots of experience. Thank you!
