This might sound silly but I'm paranoid that I'm going to bust a staple and cause a leak. I'm scared to sit on chairs w/o a pillow for support on my back. When I go to bed I'm kind of sitting (my butt was kind of numb this morning I know tmi) because I'm scared to lay flat and bust something inside, when I cough or move or when it starts to make grumbling noises I hold my stomach like if I could shield it from internal damage haha. Now that I've wrote this things and see what I've been doing it sound silly but I've just read so manny horror stories from leaks and I'm a little nervous/scared about that. Sorry just had to vent. 5 days post op!!!

No salad for me......
lml32937 replied to lml32937's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not had a whole salad since my surgery 4/2/09. About 2 weeks after being on solid's and testing foods I had a few bites and was fine- Today - Lunch was a salad- with chicken cheese and eggs- I chewed until the lettuce was liquid- within 2 hrs I had terrible pain and poopies (TMI :crying:) most of the afternoon- Once everything "cleared" I felt better- I was told that might happen when we "test" new foods.... -
In the ER. For the past couple of days I've been experiencing abdominal cramps so severe I feel it up to my chest. I've already had my period 2 weeks ago, but the cramps sort of feel like that or if you were to have diarrhea, but bowel movements seem to be fine. The longest I've gone was a week without a BM, and after that I had my BM Thursday and again on Sunday. I'm nervous because when I research online I found out that it could be an ulcer or gallstones and I pray that its neither one of them. Prayers and advice is welcome.

Day 6.5 post-op and I feel good! Not just mildly good, I'm talking standing, sitting, walking, wrapping, singing, pooping (TMI?) good. My nausea is gone, so are the meds, liquids and jello consistency food going down without a problem, incisions seem fine. I am so glad. There were moments immediately after I woke up in the hospital that I felt I had made a mistake. A lot of it is mind over matter, and I'm glad my body is cooperating. Merry Christmas everyone! Amy -
Strong meds vs. small stomach
notmeanymore replied to cmaloney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree about the lortab. It made me so sick so they finally had to give me Norco crushed up. But this weekend I was a bit stopped up so I took 2 colace tablets and whoa!! Then they kicked in, I felt so nauseous, I thought I had the flu. Then all of a sudden I had to go to the bathroom and needless to say, Im not stopped up any longer (sorry for the TMI). I dont know if taking the normal recommended amount was a good idea. Did the trick but it felt like crap (excuse the pun). -
Yesterday over lunch, I hit the ice and played hockey! It was a little akward at first, and I have some great blisters on my ankles, but these are the payment the hockey gods require. I skated ok, and had decent stamina. Being pickup we didnt have a lot of subs on either side. But I defended well against a bunch of college kids home on break. I didn't have much burst, as I feel overall weak. But my balance was great, especially skating backwards. It was such a great feeling afterwards. I forgot the rush of adrenaline-fueled brain chemicals you get after good competition. It was like I was high, or having an out of body experience lol. When I got back to work, it was as if I had drank 2 pots of starbucks high octance coffee. So that's a big check in the box next to one of my big goals. Sore today, but completely worth it. My pads fit really well too, which was an unexpected perk. Another NSV I had at the gym. You know those stupid little towels they give you that are made out of sandpaper so you dont steal them? I was able to wrap one around my titanic butt and stay covered on my walk to the shower! Hallu-freakin-lujah! Previously i had to choose a region to conceal and hold the towel in place lol. TMI I know, but some of you have probably been there done that. Happy day for me! Jay

I had my period when I was banded on 2/3 and tom stayed on in full force for 31 days. I made a gyno appointment but with the snowstorm in northeast last week, they couldn't get me into the office until today. Period has stopped but he still did an exam - the this is the tmi part - it hurt very badly when he pushed on my stomach to feel my uterus. I've never had any pain with a pelvic exam before so this caught me by surprise. I suspect he pushed down on my port, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience post band?

So after a disappointing 2 pound week I decided to call my nutritionist yesterday and find out what I can do to ensure a bigger loss this week and she asked me to hold off a day and get back on the scale this morning. I didn't know why but she said to wait until I had a (tmi moment) bowel movement. I only go about 1X a week so I I waited and voila I lost 6 pounds!! I know it wasn't all waste but she was sooooo right and I am so grateful she said get on again. I know te scale shouldn't be everything but this time it really means a lot!

Surgery soon and a TMI question!
apple-saucy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 2 more days before surgery (Friday Morning 8am!) EEEP. I'm freaking out a little more every day. Which I assume is 100%normal right? On to the TMI (AVERT YOUR EYES SQUEEMISH PEOPLE!) Elemental Iron has always given my digestive system fits...as in I have needed large quantities of laxatives after consuming it. Every single shake I have looked at or tried has 20% of the daily value of Iron in it in the form of Ferrous Sulfate which is bad when you're drinking 3-5of them a day. I know I haven't been eating anything solid for 5 days now which may be what is the majority of the problem, but I feel like I need to go...and can't! Or only go a very small amount. I'm not looking forward to the potential for straining post surgery (btdt w/ c-sections...NOT PLEASANT!!!!) gah I don;t even know what I'm asking....LOL I need advice I guess. -
Thanks everyone. I can swallow!! I just get full very fast. And I feel like my meds are getting stuck. Or things are just going down slow and I burp up the taste of whatever I drink. Nothing comes up (TMI) just the taste or smell. I've gotta stay hydrated but its hard. SF Popsicles have been great!! And sip sip sip.

This is very interesting. I have 10cc in my band which is only suppose to hold 11 and I can also eat anything and have never pb'b or slimed. I have been trying to talk the Dr into giving me a fill under floro to see if there is a problem. I get the feeling that he thinks Im crazy because Im losing the weight good but I have tried to tell him that Im losing because Im doing what Im suppose to and not because my band is keeping me from eating things or amounts that I shouldnt. Dont get me wrong the band does help me control the amount that it takes for me to be satisfied, but I want it to really let me know that its there. Just the other day I was eating a tuna kit for lunch and was thinking that if maybe I didnt use the mayo packet that it would stay in my pouch longer or at least be a little more of a challenge to eat, especially the crackers. Im going to search the net to see if I can find anything on excessive saliva. This may be tmi but now that I think about it, my kids always laugh at me when I talk because they always say that I spit when I talk. This is something to look into.

I've now had my period for 10 days. It is kind of light, but still I'm passing clots. I'm kind of getting a little worried. I usually go for 4-5 days. Also even the beginning of this period was weird, usually I start cramping a number of days prior, and get cramps on the day I start. This time. No cramps prior and none on the day of. I don't completely keep track, but it just showed up, and thinking back, it was on time. But I'm concerned I'm still bleeding. I was going to give it a couple more days before I call my gyno. But I was wondering if anyone had any advice. With all my weight loss so far, my period has always been consistent, so I'm unsure what changed, and I haven't lost a lot of weight recently. I did have a big drop last week (3.8lb), but over the last 5 months or so, I've only lost 15lb. Any advice is welcomed. TIA

Am I suppose to have diarrhea and nausea every day. Is this normal? How long will this last? I'm 4 weeks post op and very miserable. I feel so sickly all the time. Sent from my SCH-I605 using the BariatricPal App

Ok I know this is probably bordering TMI. My highest weight was 294 but mostly lingered about 280 since 2004. My sex life consisted of the ceiling view. But just recently I got the birds eye view lol. I was on top the whole time. Not out of breath, not hurting from shifting weight. No hurting my husband! I have been waiting for this for a very long time(so has my husband). I'm now almost 3 weeks post op at 250, dos 264? I'm pretty sure. But I just wanted to share my excitement about conquering another area in my life that I've so longed to have control of. And feel good about myself in the bedroom again! )

So, I'm pre op but have been trying things out. Ive been using isopure zero carb vanilla powder. It gives me some pretty significant intestinal distress. (Sorry TMI). Is this a problem for anyone else? Is there protein that will sit better? I was hoping for a vanilla so I could flavor it with SF Torani. Thanks!

Hi Panda Where you buy those shakes? I'm drinking Bariatric Advantage w/ 8oz of skim milk so i just have to drink 12oz to make it 60grams. When did you star taking your Protein? I started at the hospital on my 2nd day, then got d/c and my surgeon told me to continue on Clear liquids but to slowly add protein to my diet. So I did today I dranked 6oz and those were pushed cuz I get full so easily, even w/water. I just passed my 1st down bellow gas sorry if is TMI but I wanted to share my journey! I haven't have any BM yet but I'm taking it easy, I'm walking inside home, pain still comes and go but is it subsiding and I'm felling much better as right now, my back and neck are much better thank god! Keep you all post it later

Beware---some of this post could be considered TMI! Okay... so yesterday I noticed my stomach aching in the area where I'm sure the band is. Aching with a sharp pain every now and again. Last night it hurt as I was going to sleep, but woke up this morning and it felt better at first but as the day progressed it started to ache again. I was banded in January and had very little restriction until my 4th fill which was last month. I can still eat pretty much anything as long as I am careful with things like bread. So I'm going back in my memory trying to figure out if I should be concerned about this or if it is just muscle ache from being more active then usual. So Sunday... I had a pretty good size Breakfast, which I felt full after eating, but not painfully full and no issue's with backing up. (So here's the tmi) About 2-3 hours after breakfast my husband and I had sex and I was on top for the first time in years :w00t:. Then Sunday night we had pretty vigorous sex again :cool2::embaressed_smile:. Then yesterday early evening we took our son to the park and I decided that I'd race my pre-schooler. It was my first attempt at running in-well-possibly ever. So now my left side is really achy. My stomach around my band, my lower back and my thigh are all achy today. It does not hurt to swallow/eat, but it hurts my stomach and into my left lower back to take a deep breath. I am not having any issues with reflux, pb or vomiting. I was thinking I'd try to stick to mostly liquids for the next day or so (which is nearly impossible for me to do), and then if I am still hurting by Thursday morning I will call my doctor and see what they have to say. So should I be worried?

Thanks everyone my RN called to check on me today. Sounds like something a simple enema (TMI!) will take care of. Thank goodness. The pain should be gone in a few days.

Day 2 of the liquid diet
2bslimkim replied to warrior68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is day 5 for me... Day 2 was the worst just because I had a slight headache which Tylenol relieved. Day 5 has been a challenge just because so many of our friends are planning dinner and drinks... I want wine really really bad. Another issue (TMI) i've been trying to poop something with the consistency of coal from the high Protein diet. NOT FUN. Added Fiber to my drinks and took some Miralax today, hopefully it will work. My husband and I had lunch at an asian restaurant today and I had the broth from wonton soup and that was very good. The restaurant is going to sell my husband some wonton broth for him to have at the house when I get home. They said they would strain it for him and make sure there were no added oils. YAH! I make my own Protein Drinks and I also made my own vegetable broth which I thought was much tastier than store bought. I warned everyone at work that "object in the mirror may be bitchier than they appear" Good luck.... I'll have my laptop at the hospital so look for my posts... post surgery -
Ok this is the first time since surgery that I am having a period that I would call "real". However it is beyond heavy! It started out of the blue yesterday with NO PMS warnings what so ever! It started out heavy and has gotten worse. Like someone turned on a faucet! Here comes the TMI part, I am soaking through a tampon into a pad about every hour, had a gusher at work that required a clothing change. When is too much too much and should I go to urgent care for this? I have no cramps, just the faucet flow. I am thinking my hormones are whacked. Any suggestions on slowing it down? PS,,, I am 47.

((sigh)) someone explain the TMI and fish connection.... I am sitting here puzzled.

My cycle was off post-op. It's regulating out over the last couple of months. For November and December, it was super light, and I just started my January cycle, and BAM, I'm so over this already, it's heavy, I'm crampy, and exhausted. Sorry for the TMI. My surgeon said it was perfectly normal for my cycle to be off.

Painful Port Incision
PaulaTx replied to underyellowmoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
eszymanski, I go back to work on Monday too. I'm hoping most of this pain is gone by then. I really need to go to the bathroom but I'm unable to (sorry if that's TMI) . I'm sure that would help with the gas. Good luck! -
The Fiber One bars make me feel very uncomfortable after eating one too. I was told by my doc not to eat anything with too much fiber. Because the food sits in your stomach "pouch" right above the band where it's the most sensitive part of all your stomach you will have reactions to some foods you may not have ever had before. SO I tried a lil experiment and ate another Fiber One bar a week later and immediately had a bad reaction! ahaha The Pregresso Soups do the same thing to me as well. And I don't believe those have to do with fiber. But it's something in those soups that gas me up big time!! Sorry if TMI!! Just keep tabs on foods you eat. ;o)
