  2. I have spent the last week taking donations and loading an 18 wheeler for flood victims in WVa. We've worked from 9a-8p each day in 90+ degree heat. I NEVER would have been able to pull even one day before WLS. I have been interviewed with two news stations (ABC and CBS) and I have been in an assload of media pictures. In an attempt to garner more attention, I have live streamed throughout each day encouraging people to come out and help. Before WLS, I hated being in front of a camera and would have NEVER done even a moment of that. Over the week, I happily visited various businesses and asked for donations, even while sweaty and sort of a wreck. Before WLS, I didn't go anywhere with a hair out of place. I was always a fit, confident person, but I was also always very self aware and self conscious of my appearance. Losing this weight has given me the freedom to just DO without thinking about how I look doing it. Freedom. It's a beautiful thing. One truck filled to the brim, two more weeks of hard work ahead!

Major NSV. Probably one of the best feel good ones so far.

What a wonderful achievement to have gained all that self confidence and to have the energy to do this.I am sure those folks in WV will be so very grateful. I too have been collecting things for them all week. I live just by the VA WV border about 40 mins from the devastated area. We were told yesterday they don't want more donations at the min as they have no place to store them. However, I expect churches (not FEMA or the Red Cross) will still accept them. Going to work on checking that out. Roads are so bad in some places is it very hard to get in and out. I hope you are as proud of yourself as the people are grateful to you. Certainly not a NSV you could ever have expected or planned.

Now that is a wonderful NSV!!!! Pants feeling comphy and $$ to boot!!
  10. For many years I looked in the bathroom mirror and saw the same (nonfat) image, but reflections in store windows, shadows cast on the ground and photographs told the truth. It was painful to look at myself and face the truth of my fatness. Now, I still see the same thing in the mirror, but I jump in front of the camera at every opportunity so I can view the real truth. As my body is changing, I can stand to look at my reflection and see the promise of what's to come. Is this a NSV? It sure feels like it. I'll have to dig deep to scrape up a before photo that hasn't been fat cropped, but looking forward to posting pix in a few months! Thank you to everyone on the forum for encouragement and great advice!
  11. blahblahblah

    Non-Scale Victory

That has to be one of the best NSV's I've ever heard! I love your no room for failure attitude. You're going all the way baby!

    Nsv...(Non Scale Victory)

This is a BIG victory. Celebrating with you and cheering you on to many more NSV.
  15. Had my VSG on 3/2/17; no problems thus far-unless you count clothes not fitting, LOL! Anyway, preparing to go on a 7day cruise the last week of April 2017; tried on some shorts that I've always taken on trips....Don't know why, but was shocked they were too big! Off to Target I went to get 3 pair of shorts. Normally wear a 14/16 women's/plus, so I tried a 12 women's/plus----guess what, THEY WERE TOO BIG!!!! I had to go into the misses/juniors; got a light denim in a misses 10, a dark denim in a misses 10, and a white pair in a misses 12 (different material)!!!!! WHAT A GREAT NSV TO START THE WEEK WITH!!!!!! Highest wt: 240lbs 1st dr appt wt: 220lbs Day of surgery wt: 193.4lbs Current wt: 184.4lbs Goal wt: between 150-165lbs Have a great week everyone!!!!

  18. Lynnlovesthebeach

    A new Non-Scale Victory!

After years of reading my medical reports and seeing terms and unflattering statements like obesity, morbid obesity, "composed mostly of fatty tissue", and "due to patient's habitus," (which is the medically polite way of saying "can't see sh*t due to too much fat!" I finally had a CT scan this week and the report has the term "dose lowering technique utilized due to patients size." WooHoo...I'm too small for a normal dose of radiation! That's a NSV in my book!

  20. These posts are very encouraging to me. I've been stalled for 4 weeks now and am trying hard to stay un-discouraged! I did have an NSV - I was able to get back in some size 16 jeans that I haven't been able to wear for 6 or more months!

    Fun times

How neat is that! That must have made your day! I will love the day that I can actually fit into some of my smaller clothes, especially my smaller uniforms, I used to wear a L (now 3X) so to be able to get back into L's will just be the biggest NSV for me!:001_rolleyes:

77 lbs! Feels amazing, doesn't it. Congrats on your NSV! Daisy, do you like the dance classes? I've been wanting to try it.
  23. Went out shopping with mom last night, to BJs of all places. Needed the necessities, bread, milk, eggs, cold cuts, you know the drill. So since it is totally freezing out in NJ and most of the country, i was walking past a stack of sweaters that were on clearance cause they have the spring clothes out. I picked one up on a whim, it was $12, and a medium, and cute. I said to mom, what do you think, she said it looks warm, I said it is $12 i think i deserve it. I put it on this morning and there is actually room in there!!! A FREAKING MEDIUM AND THERE IS ROOM!!!!! Thanks for letting me shout it out!! patti
  24. I had surgery on monday, and I had no big hopes for this week. I even let my beard grow. To my surprise, when I just shaved, is that my doublechin is gone. It is only my jaw there, and no pouch hanging under. How cool is that? The scales are showing almost the same (-2), but the difference in the mirror. When I look closely, the may be cheekbones there as well. A great NSV for me..
  25. I am loving your NSV... great feeling ain't it??!! Keep your 'chin' up ... lol =]
