Can you believe we all have tini-tiny stomachs now? What a week its been. Some have had remarkable painfree success and some have been downright miserable. At this stage everyone is in totally different places as far as food/liquid/nutrition. For those on Clear liquids for awhile longer, if you didn't know, Isopure makes a clear drink thats 40g Protein. Its sold at some GNC stores. Might help get some protein in while being kind to your new stomach. I hope by the end of this week everyone is feeling fantastic! Here is the run down! I have an idea, let me know what you guys think... What I can start doing next week after we all lose the excess surgery Fluid... so everyone can see easily how much everyone has lost, is each week we can weigh in Mondays and I can put it after your name on the new Tuesday thread. It would be great to be able to see how everyone is doing at a glance - ie (lylabelle -6). It will be fun the first few weeks when we will probably all be dropping really well (except week 3 is typically a stall). You guys can message your number to me if you want so we keep our thread clean and filled with tips, tricks, recipes, annoyances and NSVs! Let me know what you think. Love this group! May 28-31st Sleeve Week!
lylabelle replied to lylabelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad you are feeling better laurie! You sure sounded aweful before Great NSV on the little bbq! Makes me wonder if smashed up watermeelon is ok for the pureed stage?? I still have 18 days until then, but I bet the watermelon would be lovely. The docs typically soak the new stomach in Water inside the abdomen and check for bubbles that would be leaks. The next day they should at least do a barium swallow so you can see your new stomach. My doc did it for confirmation of leaks but he also wanted us to see how the new stomach worked. I'll attach a picture. The reason you should get a copy now is so that in 6 months you can get another barium test to see how your sleeve has healed and if they missed parts that are now stretching (which obviously can lead to regain). I didn't think the barium was aweful - mine was more like a strawberry and cream Protein drink. Just one big gulp. However my doc also had us do a blue dye test. which is a much thinner liquid (water) than the barium test. This allows even the smallest leaks not to go un noticed as any leak in the stomach would come out in the drain that is placed by the new sleeve. THAT stuff was disgusting. And probably TMI, but I'm still peeing blue! LOL Here is my pretty new sleeve -
NSV bathing suit and all that goes with it
laners777 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well I started the summer season with my kids today by going to the local Water park. Even though I have lost 100 lbs since last summer, I found myself still getting nervous while driving there....keep the cover up on or take it off were my thoughts. I decided to ditch the cover up and go with bathing suit only. Even with all my loose skin, I felt good having the confidence to not wear a cover up over my suit for the first time in over 10 years. I also had the best time climbing the water jungle gym with my 5 yo daughter. Now you must know that this area has water pouring from every direction, slides, climbing nets, a ton of stairs, and the need to dodge children of all ages at a moments notice. I managed all of this with skill and grace...well maybe not grace. It felt amazing to be able to run around, climb stairs, NOT afraid that I would get stuck in the slide on the way down and actually not getting stuck in any part of the smaller spaces of this contraption. Another reason to be happy with my choice of having the sleeve done. I say this everyday but today it really hit home "BEST THING I EVER DID FOR MYSELF and MY FAMILY"!!! Hope others had a good day and if you didn't....please have a good one tomorrow. -
weight loss plateau after sleeve? Is it normal?
joatsaint replied to Karen82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats on your first NSV! The dreaded plateau! And yes, you can expect to see several of them in your future. In the past 18 months, I've gone through so many I lost count. It's a normal part of the process as your body adjusts to your new way of eating. One thing I've learned, if I just stick with my eating plan and walking, eventually the weight loss will start again. And yes, it is frustrating as Hell to have to wait it out! -
Well, you're just fabulous wrapped up in awesome , now are'nt you ! Congratulations on your first NSV !!! Keep it up !

This is for the plus size fashionistas...
jennyinky replied to LynRN's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Lynn - I feel you! Congratulations on your NSV! Lane Bryant and Catherine's are the only plus size stores in my area (and Catherine's doesn't often appeal to me). I am scheduled for surgery on the 10 th and the preop diet has loosened me out of the 24 pants (not shirts - long way to go on the top! I'm planning to wear alt of maxi dresses over the next few months so I can get away with not buying a lot of clothes until I'm close to goal. -
So happy for you--I can feel your joy all the way in the keyboard of my laptop! Here's to many, many, many more NSV's come. Enjoy and Celebrate each and every one!!! You deserve it!

I'm 7 weeks out. I'm down 56 pounds but more exciting to me is I have lost 5 inches in my waist and my hips. I'm down from 24 pants to 18; and some 18s are getting loose! I bought a shirt at the store last weekend. It was in the regular section so I didn't know if it would fit. I held up the XL and thought it fit. Got home and I was swimming in it! Went back and tried on the medium. It fit well but the bust area looked odd the way it was cut because I'm still a D. So I got the L and it looks good even though its a bit big. Unbelievable! I also lost three inches under my bust and I'm having to use the inner clasp. I'm putting off getting new bras as long as I can. Also I talked to my daughter who is 9. I was talking to her about eating habits and told her I don't want her to end up over weight like me. She said she didn't think I was overweight. If only we could see ourselves through their eyes! I'm able to walk up the stairs at work which are huge without grabbing the rail or feeling tired. I have a lot more energy too!

I totally understand Betty_S! I use to hang everything for fear of shrinking. Now I'm washing with hot water + the dryer hoping that they shrink.

I work at a school that is church owned and they have periodic rummage sales. They are having now and I went and tried on about 20 outfits yesterday. I came home with 16 blouses!!!! I paid on average $3.75 a piece and it felt so good to try on things that actually looked great. When the next one comes i plan on doing it again and giving them all of these clothes because I plan on them being too big! What a joy this is. I am wearing a new top today and feel great. We need NSVs like this to boost us along and confirm we are on the right track. That closet idea sounds cool too. May have to check that out!

I had two great nsvs today. First I went and bought my season pass for Elitch Gardens in Denver. I no longer have to worry if I can fit on the roller coaster. Second was feeling so good I decided to check out the gay bars on Capital Hill trying to find some old friends as the one I use to frequent back in the day is now a 7-11. Well didn't find anyone I knew but I am sure this cute young lesbian was checking me out. That is a first for me.

Oh how l would love to have a goal of being able to walk or run without knee pain. I don't know if that is possible with my knees, but I'm hoping it is. I also like what joatsaint said about "The reward is in the doing and reaching the goal.". I think that is basically how I think also, but I love hearing about other people's goals. I do have some non scale victory (NSV) goals. If I were ever to reach my goal weight, I'd love to take my kids to Disney World and walk everywhere without having to stop for a "knee break". I'd love to fit in all the roller coaster rides. I'd love to fit in a swimsuit without struggling to get it on, or thinking that this particular suit must be made for someone short-waisted, since it appears that the bust is somewhere around my waist...can't stand that! I also watch the scale and feel great when I lose 10 pounds. Every 10 pounds is a victory, and is a reward in and of itself.

5 months and rocking it out! from Michigan
Sarahjane79 replied to kimba6999's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a great weekend! I went to silver lake Sunday and went to the dunes for the first time ever. So much fun! A bunch of us went out to eat after and the only place we could find had a late night (it was 10pm) menu of apps abd pizza. So I got a thin crust pepperoni pizza. Ate 2 small pieces. It was delicious, and totally curbed my craving for pizza. Monday I grilled out with my neighbor and cleaned my house a little. After having a few cheats this weekend, i weighed myself today, and I was still down 3.7 lbs! For a total of 73 so far in 14 weeks. Couldn't be happier! Plus, I wouldn't have gone to the dunes this weekend, if it had been 4 months ago. I wouldn't have been comfortable. But being 70 lbs lighter and having so much more confidence and how much easier it is to get around... best weekend! Plus, my bff's jeep has 35 inch tires on it. I've been scared to get in it without a step stool (I'm only 5'1 so the tires alone are over half my height, plus I had acl reconstruction 4 years ago and have been scared to "jump" with how much I weighed) and tried it this weekend by grabbing the roll bar and pulling myself up. I CAN DO IT!! I was so excited/proud of myself. A good NSV right there for me! -
Ive been having mini-NSV's for a while but I've been feeling a lot of self doubt too - like I'll never be truly successful, never reach goal. I started at 325 last summer, lost 28 preop, and have lost a total of 65 since surgery on March 13. I'm right at 260. Its been work. I feel like a slow loser. But I'm really, (finally) seeing results, especially in my clothes. I worse a pair of jeans I hadn't worn since 2008. I bought a pair of W22 khaki pants a few weeks ago that are now too big to wear. I can easily wear a size 18 bathing suit. But, Tonight, I think I had my first true, jump up and down moment. And it was over something relatively simple. A lab coat of all things. Last summer, I ordered a lab coat in 4X so it would button. Today I ordered a XXL and it fits. It fits perfectly, I can even button it. I know it's still an XXL but IT BUTTONED! All the way down! It's the largest size in the non-plus sizes. I have 95 pounds to go and when I say that, I feel like I'll never make it! Sometimes I feel like I'll never get there. But tonight, I finally felt like I was moving in the right direction. You'd think seeing 65 gone would give me a little faith. But it took buttoning up a lab coat to be excited!!!

@@Cupcake, Yay for you! You got through it! I am so glad you feel good. Isn't it nice to be on this side of the surgery? @@allielee, I almost threw up in the hospital and it was terrifying! You are a trooper. Congrats on your weight loss so far. @@Kookichu, thanks for always being so positive and supportive! The scale started moving the very next day, and "bathroom issues" had a lot do to with that! Without providing TMI, I think things had been backed up for awhile. Not any more, though!! And, on a NSV note, I actually went to work out last night!!! Just a little bit on the treadmill, but I have not had energy to even do that. So, baby steps back to cardiac health for me.

I did not eat any sugar over the holiday even though I specifically told myself that I could. I think this is probably the biggest NSV I've ever had.

When I started I could only do it for a few seconds... Now a few minutes. A nice NSV for me.
