3. Lynn - I feel you! Congratulations on your NSV! Lane Bryant and Catherine's are the only plus size stores in my area (and Catherine's doesn't often appeal to me). I am scheduled for surgery on the 10 th and the preop diet has loosened me out of the 24 pants (not shirts - long way to go on the top! I'm planning to wear alt of maxi dresses over the next few months so I can get away with not buying a lot of clothes until I'm close to goal.

Major NSVs!

I'm 7 weeks out. I'm down 56 pounds but more exciting to me is I have lost 5 inches in my waist and my hips. I'm down from 24 pants to 18; and some 18s are getting loose! I bought a shirt at the store last weekend. It was in the regular section so I didn't know if it would fit. I held up the XL and thought it fit. Got home and I was swimming in it! Went back and tried on the medium. It fit well but the bust area looked odd the way it was cut because I'm still a D. So I got the L and it looks good even though its a bit big. Unbelievable! I also lost three inches under my bust and I'm having to use the inner clasp. I'm putting off getting new bras as long as I can. Also I talked to my daughter who is 9. I was talking to her about eating habits and told her I don't want her to end up over weight like me. She said she didn't think I was overweight. If only we could see ourselves through their eyes! I'm able to walk up the stairs at work which are huge without grabbing the rail or feeling tired. I have a lot more energy too!
6. nsv: when you put on a pair of jeans out of the dryer and theyre still loose. :)

I totally understand Betty_S! I use to hang everything for fear of shrinking. Now I'm washing with hot water + the dryer hoping that they shrink.

Shopping is fun again!

I work at a school that is church owned and they have periodic rummage sales. They are having now and I went and tried on about 20 outfits yesterday. I came home with 16 blouses!!!! I paid on average $3.75 a piece and it felt so good to try on things that actually looked great. When the next one comes i plan on doing it again and giving them all of these clothes because I plan on them being too big! What a joy this is. I am wearing a new top today and feel great. We need NSVs like this to boost us along and confirm we are on the right track. That closet idea sounds cool too. May have to check that out!
9. I had two great nsvs today. First I went and bought my season pass for Elitch Gardens in Denver. I no longer have to worry if I can fit on the roller coaster. Second was feeling so good I decided to check out the gay bars on Capital Hill trying to find some old friends as the one I use to frequent back in the day is now a 7-11. Well didn't find anyone I knew but I am sure this cute young lesbian was checking me out. That is a first for me.
10. Rena's got this

Goals

Oh how l would love to have a goal of being able to walk or run without knee pain. I don't know if that is possible with my knees, but I'm hoping it is. I also like what joatsaint said about "The reward is in the doing and reaching the goal.". I think that is basically how I think also, but I love hearing about other people's goals. I do have some non scale victory (NSV) goals. If I were ever to reach my goal weight, I'd love to take my kids to Disney World and walk everywhere without having to stop for a "knee break". I'd love to fit in all the roller coaster rides. I'd love to fit in a swimsuit without struggling to get it on, or thinking that this particular suit must be made for someone short-waisted, since it appears that the bust is somewhere around my waist...can't stand that! I also watch the scale and feel great when I lose 10 pounds. Every 10 pounds is a victory, and is a reward in and of itself.
11. I had a great weekend! I went to silver lake Sunday and went to the dunes for the first time ever. So much fun! A bunch of us went out to eat after and the only place we could find had a late night (it was 10pm) menu of apps abd pizza. So I got a thin crust pepperoni pizza. Ate 2 small pieces. It was delicious, and totally curbed my craving for pizza. Monday I grilled out with my neighbor and cleaned my house a little. After having a few cheats this weekend, i weighed myself today, and I was still down 3.7 lbs! For a total of 73 so far in 14 weeks. Couldn't be happier! Plus, I wouldn't have gone to the dunes this weekend, if it had been 4 months ago. I wouldn't have been comfortable. But being 70 lbs lighter and having so much more confidence and how much easier it is to get around... best weekend! Plus, my bff's jeep has 35 inch tires on it. I've been scared to get in it without a step stool (I'm only 5'1 so the tires alone are over half my height, plus I had acl reconstruction 4 years ago and have been scared to "jump" with how much I weighed) and tried it this weekend by grabbing the roll bar and pulling myself up. I CAN DO IT!! I was so excited/proud of myself. A good NSV right there for me!
12. Ive been having mini-NSV's for a while but I've been feeling a lot of self doubt too - like I'll never be truly successful, never reach goal. I started at 325 last summer, lost 28 preop, and have lost a total of 65 since surgery on March 13. I'm right at 260. Its been work. I feel like a slow loser. But I'm really, (finally) seeing results, especially in my clothes. I worse a pair of jeans I hadn't worn since 2008. I bought a pair of W22 khaki pants a few weeks ago that are now too big to wear. I can easily wear a size 18 bathing suit. But, Tonight, I think I had my first true, jump up and down moment. And it was over something relatively simple. A lab coat of all things. Last summer, I ordered a lab coat in 4X so it would button. Today I ordered a XXL and it fits. It fits perfectly, I can even button it. I know it's still an XXL but IT BUTTONED! All the way down! It's the largest size in the non-plus sizes. I have 95 pounds to go and when I say that, I feel like I'll never make it! Sometimes I feel like I'll never get there. But tonight, I finally felt like I was moving in the right direction. You'd think seeing 65 gone would give me a little faith. But it took buttoning up a lab coat to be excited!!!

And it begins!

@@Cupcake, Yay for you! You got through it! I am so glad you feel good. Isn't it nice to be on this side of the surgery? @@allielee, I almost threw up in the hospital and it was terrifying! You are a trooper. Congrats on your weight loss so far. @@Kookichu, thanks for always being so positive and supportive! The scale started moving the very next day, and "bathroom issues" had a lot do to with that! Without providing TMI, I think things had been backed up for awhile. Not any more, though!! And, on a NSV note, I actually went to work out last night!!! Just a little bit on the treadmill, but I have not had energy to even do that. So, baby steps back to cardiac health for me.

15. I did not eat any sugar over the holiday even though I specifically told myself that I could. I think this is probably the biggest NSV I've ever had. :)

I was given a gift card to Dress Barn for my birthday. I went in thinking I'd grab a pair of slacks and a blouse for work. My currant pants were on the loose side so I grabbed the next size down. To my disbelief they were also too big. I grabbed the next size down and Walla they fit perfectly. Are you ready for this? They are a size 12 a freaking size 12!!!!! I cried right there in the dressing room.

NSV

Yesterday my husband had enough. He couldn't stand seeing me in my baggy yoga pants anymore (so he said), so he took me shopping. I started to pick out size 16, while HW picked out 12's. I said no way am I a 12, he insisted I try them on. OMG a size 12 jean and they fit. They actually buttoned! And to top it all off he had picked out skinny jeans. Me in skinny jeans! If you had told me this 4 months ago I would have laughed and called you crazy. So of course he bought them for me. After a few rocky months, I can honestly say I love my sleeve.
20. ACK!!! That's the funkiest picture ever!! I was jumping the fire pit and had smoke in my eyes. A huge NSV? Not caring how ugly a picture is of myself. The fear of facebook tagging no longer exists.

Busy week- NSV's, first stuck episode!

Congrats on the NSVs. When you get stuck next time you shouldn't sip any Water or anything. Your pouch and esophagus are filled and adding water or Fluid on top of the food only pushes up against your pouch and esophagus. Can make it all take longer with more pain. jmo
22. This has been a crazy week. One of those weeks where I worked every day and had some work event each night. Just exhausting. But...several interesting things happened: 1. A few different NSV's this week. I was able to wear several things from my closet that I haven't worn in a couple of years. That was really good.....I needed them for a couple of dressy events. 2. I totally got checked out by some guy at the gas station. I seriously don't remember the last time that happened. I tend to be oblivious to that stuff....but this was really obvious. 3. A couple people noticed and commented on my weight loss....they are basically the first that have noticed,....which is weird since I haven't lost in about two weeks....but whatever. 4. And the biggie...my first stuck and burping episode. My period came this week, unexpectedly because I have an IUD and haven't had a period in months. When I had surgery I was warned that some people seem a little tighter around that time, but didn't give it much thought because I haven't been having periods. I'm about 5 weeks post op and have no fill, so since starting back on "normal" food I have basically no restriction other than what I am attempting to do...basically just a diet at this point. So, Hubby and I take the kids and go out to dinner at a BBQ place he likes. I order some BBQ beef with roasted veggies. Have had it since surgery a couple of times, no issues. First bite, I guess it was too big or I didn't chew enough or both and BAM! Stuck! Painful, feels like a heart attack stuck. I tried sipping some Water, the water went down, but still stuck and still in pain. I sat for a couple of minutes but was getting increasingly uncomfortable so I quickly headed to the restroom. Then I started with the sliming. Never had it before and it was very unpleasant. Spitting and spitting and that hunk of meat feels like it is stuck in the middle of my chest. I spent about ten minutes in the bathroom, before it finally just went down, I burped and it was basically over. Dinner was over too, I managed to sip a little tea and that was it. Kept with liquids for about 24 hours after. So......my first fill is in just over a week. I suspect that I will have to be more careful than I have been and if my period comes again, super careful at that time once I have the fill added. First fill in a week,,,,can't wait!
