little lost on the jargon lol
vlp1968 replied to witcywoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sliming is when you throw up mucus type stuff. Pb stands for productive burp. It's when a bit of food that was stuck comes up. NSV stands for non-scale victory. -
So ok.. when i was 14 i could get into clubs and what not cuz for whatever reason i guess i looked older than i should have... MUST HAVE BEEN THE GINORMOUS BOOBS...lol.. ok im only half kidding about that.... anyways..Since ive turned 21 I think ive only been carded 5 times.. and when i gained my weight in the past 4 years i was NEVER carded ...im now 28... and after losing 60 lbs.. I get carded every where I go!!!!! LMAO....and last week. I got carded buying cough syrup!!!! SERIOUSLY?!?!?! I apparently went from looking 30 to lookin 15 in a matter of 4 months..lol. Now i don't know if that counts as an NSV or not but it does kind of make me happy! so you guys tell me.. do i look that young?? cuz i just dont see it.

So I have been losing weight, have good restriction, and doing good overall. But I kept wondering where was all this energy that's supposed to come with losing weight. Well I hadn't realized that I have been doing more things. This weekend was a prime example. I went to a pet event with my Yorkie so there was a lot of walking, went to the mall, and started cleanings the house. Today I met up with a friend I hadn't seen in months bc I never felt like doing anything, took my dog to training, then went shopping at Costco. I just realized that my energy level is better bc I have been doing things on the weekends when usually I would stay home or if I went out and did one thing I would come right away exhausted. I have gone to several events around San Antonio that have involved physical activity like walking. It's only gonna get better from all here on end.

sbg224 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am finally in the 220's. This AM 229, but out of the 230's. Still losing the weight slowly in my opinion, but every little bit counts. I am weight training now 2 x week, so we will see how the scale goes, hopefully the clothes will tell all. -
Nsv! New Bra Size!!!!!!
Rebecca Cain Salpacka posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, after the first 15 lbs or so that I lost, I felt my bra getting to big...but i just didnt feel i lost enough inches to drop a size. Last tuesday when I weighed myself i was at 29lbs gone (16 of it since surgery 4/26). I had gone to the store with a friend, and as we passed the "intimate apparel" area, i thought..hmmm, maybe? Then i got gutsy lol. I was wearing a 50C, normally you would just try one size down..but i said what the heck and grabbed a 46C...it fit..and it fit great...didnt roll on the sides, straps didnt slip, and mega support! It is a Just My Size brand...but this means that I am not far from a 44, which means I can go into any store, and select from many more styles off the pegs, rather than just the JMS ones in the boxes...i swear i have worn the same 3 styles of bras for as long as I can remember lol. I dont track my measurements..one because in past years when I have...after losing a few inches I would assume that i should change size and then go try it on, and it just didnt work and id be disappointed...so this way, i dont assume anything, and if i try something on and it dont fit..i dont feel so bad. Now, if the lower body can drop as easily as the upper body, id be set lol...but ill take a drop...ANYWHERE on my body lol. -

NSV & first vacation experience
loridee11 replied to loridee11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
A couple of other cool NSVs: While out hiking, a friend was walking behind me (one of the few that know I had the surgery). She made a .comment about how different I look from behind and that my waist was cutting in I ordered a new v neck tshirt in size L and it fit perfect!!! I was wearing 2XL and many of them were too tight. I was cleaning out my coat closet today (I've cleaned out my main closet a few times, but never got around to my coats). Being in Northern California and wIth surgery end of December, then Covid, I didn't really wear most of my coats this year. I have a raincoat that last year was really tight - I could wear it but couldn't button all the buttons. I tried it on today and it was HUGE. You could literally fit another person in there with me Yay! -
So this weekend was my niece's quincenera and it was a great time. For the first time i wasn't the miserable lady sitting watching everyone else look good. I felt and looked better than i had in a long time! On top of that i was able to enjoy some of the food at the reception and feel satisfied. Overall best time I have had in a long time.

What freedom! Not to be controlled by food! Congratulations on your NSV's!

I find myself missing the NSV'S and the attention. I didn't really like being the center of attention then. This is the new me and it has been quite an adjustment. -
Tip! What I Did Not Read Before Surgery--Another Nsv
misselaineous posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, Was sleeved in Dallas October 25. One thing I did not read (and I read alot on line, books, etc) was that the week after surgery you learn quickly about POSTURE!. I have to sit up very straight so my incisions do not get sore. AND, the first week I lost so many inches that one fat roll is no longer there day 4 and I have to sit even more differently--so the incision doesn't rub my pants waist. HA. who new good posture would be a Non surgical benefit? -
so i've been on a stall for the last 6 days and i've been ridiculously disappointed and down! today we were at my brother-in-laws house watching the football game and all of a sudden i realized i was sitting with my legs crossed. not just crossed but ALL THE WAY CROSSED!!!! i can't even remember the last time i've been able to cross my legs. stupid victory i know but my victory all the same!!!! helps a little with the stall!!!

Woo hoo! Congrats on the NSV!!

I am a friendly person who often greets and gets greeted with hugs rather than handshakes. I noticed lately that peoples arms wrap all the way around me and back to the hugger. I feel so tiny when that happens.

Sweet, two great NSV's in one day, you are rocking it! Sent from my iPad using VST

Two NSV's today...... Had to cut 9 inches off my belt and got called a "skinny ass"! Even though I'm down 60 pounds since surgery and still 67 pounds from my goal, it felt good to hear that! I laughed at my friend that said it and then immediately went to my room to shed a small "happy tear".

I Know I'm Not Supposed To Compare...
Shape_Shifter replied to fell4falls's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Put on an old pair of pants that were tight to remind yourself how far YOU have come. Look at some of the NSV that you have had. I am a low-bmi having surgery soon and I'm worried about the same thing. I have a friend who had surgery and lost alot of weight quickly and she will be the person to comment on how slow I am loosing. You are loseing. You've lost alot. You've come a long way. Keep it up. Compare yourself to where you would have been if you did't have the surgery. And...Be sure to remind me of all of this when I'm having the same problem. good luck. -
Since the scale isn't movin'....here's a NSV!

hey there, im having the same issues! i got my band on aug 31st and i weighed myself yesterday on my wii and it said i only lost less than a 1lb! i dont know why! :smile2: also what is NSV??? -
I'm at my surgeon's for my 2 month follow up after surgery. They were checking my blood pressure which was great 119/78 and they used the small cuff on my arm. They didn't have to get the bid jumbo arm cuff out. Not even the medium one. They took out the little one. Wow!! I'm so excited.

Hey everyone...i'm about to be banded soon (may 4th) and since summer is starting and i am starting to sweat....lots. I was wondering if any of you have had NSV's in this department. Sweating less?
-
So! I did it! I reached my first goal. March 10, 2014 I had my lapband surgery and I weighed in at 343lbs. This weekend I weighed in at 298.2 and that is a number I haven't seen in probably 4 years. I had been over 300lbs for quite some time so I ate my first goal to loose 44lbs, to make me less than 300. I'm loosing on average about 2lbs a week. It is slow and steady but I am super happy with my lapband decision and everyday is a new day to learn and grow into a better, healthier me. I am down a pant size or two and I am loving all the compliments that I am getting. I feel like I am glowing! My next goal is to loose another 20 by September 6th! I have a wedding to go to so I am setting my standards high and reaching for the sky!!!!

Just fit in a booth at a resuraunt with room to spare!
ginabee38 replied to Bama2012's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm definitely looking forward to experiencing THIS NSV! Last weekend, I met up with some friends...as we were ushered towards a booth, I panicked a bit. I fit, but just barely. Luckily, I was with a very close and wonderful friend who "measured" her side of the table with her menu, and as it turned out to be a few inches larger, we switched. It could have been worse, but my friend was so great about it...very matter of fact. Later on, I told her about my plan to get the sleeve. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App -
Happy to see you back, Glad to hear you had a nice time on vacation. NSV for you that you did not gain while being on vacation
