Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

27 degrees here right now and it stormed like the dickens here last night. We're surrounded by snow on the mountains but just rain here in the valley. It's beautiful. Yesterday I ate off of the vegetable tray for dinner. I must have had about a good cup size of carrots and dip. Got back to the motel and was regretting my decision, so I ate 2 small cups of WW lemon yogurt and went to bed. TMI, cleared my system out this morning and am feeling better. Not so bloated. Thanks for the reminder about "Cut the Crap Day". I need to do exactly that. SIL is fixing vegetable Soup today so we are going over there and visiting. Everyone have a great day. :clap2:

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Morning gals I feel soooooooooooooooo much better today. PMS aparently didn't help my already explosive situation. And on top of that I don't have grocery money until tuesday so I have not had any fiber... so you know it has been 5 days and no potty. I'm dying. i know... tmi Tracy - my aunt is amazingly better. they think she might have had a mini stroke because she cant talk right, but she is sitting up and alert. I am going to see her tomorrow. 197... you are well into onderland.... you go girl. when I get my fill next week I'm catching up quickly.
  3. Good Morning! Ricks heart rate dropped into the 110 range this morning....I am feeling hopeful, that the meds are doing the work they are supposed to! We see the Dr. tomorrow. Christy--have you sat down and had a talk with your Dr. to see what options you have? I had several D&C's prior to my hysterectomy. It would eliminate some of the uterine lining, and maybe slow your bleeding. There are several intermediate measures that could be taken if you do not want the hysterectomy. Heck if it is just an ovarian cyst, you can have the entire ovary removed and still maintain fertility! I have also heard of them draining cysts. The hysterectomy will likely be the final step in the future to keep this from recurring. The cysts, even when removed, often return. But if you want more children, sit down across the desk from your Dr. and find a way. If they don't want to give you more options, or talk to you person to person, as opposed to looking at you through your knees as you are in the stirrups---it is time to find a new Dr!!! I know they don't recommend pregnancy in the first year of the band, but it has happened many a time! It would slow the ability for weight loss, but the band would still be there---waiting for you to be able to put it to work! I did several intermediate steps to my hysterectomy---not so much by choice, but for insurance reasons Dr.'s went through a stage where they avoided them at all costs (kind of like kids and tonsils). In my case a cancer diagnosis, ended the discussion. I think our family is being difficult now, you should have seen them then!!! I had a positive cancer diagnosis, and my GYN and my oncologist took a route, of putting me through 6 months of oral chemo PRIOR to surgery! Everyone wigged out! Then I had surgery, and did 6 sessions of infused therapy---and have not had any recurrance. This was done almost 5 years ago! I will say when you are ready---and comfortable with not wanting more children---it is a huge relief to finally have the surgery done! I really do love having the freedom from the problems I had been plagued with for years! I had endometriosis, and my periods, while extremely irregular, were horribly painful! At one point I was hospitalized with the pain from them, they used an internal probe --like they do to watch childbirth contractions, and the spasms I would have from cramps registered on it! I was glad to see it all GO AWAY!!! I have never had the issue of those organs making me the woman I am. I am no less of a woman now! It didn't affect my libido----I am still sexually active (ssshhhhh don't tell!). The only drawback to the surgery has been a ( I apologize in advance if this is TMI---but Christy needs info!) lack of natural lubrication. The feeling is there, the bodies natural response isn't always....but there are tons of options available, and it hasn't made a difference! I will be glad to PM you my # (any of you, for any reason!) if you want to talk about it. (((hugs))) While I know we can't dine on 900 calorie salads every day and lose weight, it is not going to hurt you on occasion. In fact as you reach a tight restriction, if you are one of the ones with a touchy band, and have trouble getting in adequate calories, it is good to know that you can bump them up every now and then, with something that works with your band. It is said to "shock" the metabolism, by pushing the calories on occasion. I do know there were days I expected to gain, after eating cake and ice cream at a party or something, and I would get on a losing streak....I have yet to figure this body out!!! Thanks so much for all the adivce on my in law fun. I know they love him, I know they are scared too. His sister that has been riding me so hard, is acting in fear, I have no doubt, she lost her husband to a brain tumor. I wish I had it in me right now to be their support too---I try. But my concern at that point was in projecting support for the decision my husband made concerning his own health! I called them all and updated them in the numbers dropping some. I got a chilly response, but am hoping as time goes on, and I keep them informed, as will he, that it thaws out again around here!!! Well off to see what we can do to entertain DH----he is not a happy housebound patient!!! Kat

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Since my last fill in July I have never felt hunger pangs. I eat by the clock now. I dont think I am too tight because I don't PB, I don't every really get food stuck, I could probably take a few large gulps of water before it started backing up on me lol.. I know TMI but I looked at all this too so I could make sure that I was at the right restriction. The veggies I only eat because I worry about nutrition. Maybe I will weed out some of the veggies and then replace with trail mix or more nuts. a meal for me would be about 3 or 4 oz of meat per sitting and then a few veggies just to make myself feel better about nutritional needs. I have a space in the evening where I could add in another snack or something. Normally I have a glass of wine (Chardonnay or Merlot) so I don't eat since I am having liquids. I am doing away with the wine for a week as a test so I could fill this space with a snack. or I might have to fill it with a protein shake Blah.

    A New Day

I did a really stupid thing..... I got some Dulcolax stool softeners (tmi), don't want to end up in ER impacted and I don't want to take a laxative every day. Makes it hard to go anywhere. Anyways, when I got home with them, I realized they were gel caps and I know they won't go threw without getting stuck. Smart me decided, I'll bite into it and wash the liqiud down with water, like I do with my Tylenol. FYI, do not ever do that!!!! It has burned the crap out of my throat and made any drink or my lunch taste awful. Its been 2hrs and the burning is letting up. But boy, how dumb! I can't imagine how that would feel stuck and disolving around my stoma, ouch. Needless to say, back to the regular laxative.
  6. Miralax and such is safe to use because it doesn't have any stimulants in it to cause issues. My surgeon said that in the beginning there may be days between BM. A bit TMI but even 7 weeks out I go maybe once every three or four days. Because our amount of food has significantly smaller than what it used to be our body has to adjust.

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

TMI Alert. I seem to only have nausea when I need to have a bowel movement. I guess it's a good warning system, but I hope it goes away. Anyone else have this issue?

    May 2007 Banders

Hang tight Anne! I had my first fill yesterday and ate very little last night. This a.m., I was famished when I awoke. I had some coffee (I know, I'm not supposed to, but I don't have it everyday, so I was bad!) and about a half hour later, an oatmeal b'fast cookie. That held me over until lunch time around 12:30. I was very hungry by then. I had a large cobb salad from Publix and split it before I started eating (didn't want the leftovers to get soggy). Well...I couldn't eat even the half. I'd say I ate maybe a quarter of it. I had some fruit and some sushi to nibble on as well (communal table at work), but never got to it. I just couldn't eat any more! Now this I like!! For those that were asking, I feel a little tight (I can still feel something that doesn't quite feel stuck, but almost. It's not terribly uncomfortable though.), but I'm not on liquids. Jsrico, try Activia. There's even a lowfat one. My hubbling swears by it! I tried it and it tastes pretty good, but lordy it gave me gas!!! (Sorry, I know, TMI.) And since my surgery (yes, still!!!) I've had plenty of that all on my own!! If this is what the band feels like when it's working properly, I have to say it's great!

    May 2007 Banders

I've found TOM is responsible for most of my PB experiences. It starts a couple days before TOM...it's frustrating, but the up side is it's like an early warning system that TOM will arrive soon. I was chatting with a band friend the other day and was frustrated because I had been having trouble with PB the last couple days and the scale was stuck, it was such a DUH moment, as it came out of my mouth I figured it out. Aside form that, a little hot water bofore eating and things go down quite well. Sorry for the TMI to all you guys out there, but it's a fact of life for us gal-banders Sue
  10. Before I forget again~ Denise...you looked wonderful! Really beautiful and confident...which = sexy! Judy~ Congrats on a successful show tonight. Susanne retires on May 17...so if I can make it on our trip...EVERYONE can;). Michelle~ Love love love checking things off a list! Makes me feel very accomplished. Congrats. TracyKS~ I feel your pain sister. The eye rolling, teeth sucking...I know it all too well. Deep breaths honey. Hey, at least you all got a good long nights sleep last night;). How is Cody w/ Robby? Is everyone settling in to life together? Well today was a great day. My friend, who get got a job and was unemployed for about a month, was in a scrooge state of mind. She mentioned she couldn't afford a tree. So, Susanne and I brought her one! She was shocked! It made us feel really good to help out a friend and give her a reason to Celebrate Xmas. I've known some lean Christmases. Not easy...but sometimes a little gesture from a friend can make the entire season. Then we went to the Nike outlet and I spent too much $ on myself. We came home and I made 8 doz Cookies (only had 2 ate very end). Prepared about 20 plates w/ snow flake wrap and a little card for my secretaries, principals, a few colleagues and people at Susanne's work. Then I prepared all these little red felt bucket thingys for our people at work. Each felt pail has for the ladies: xmas socks, earrings or pin, small box of chocolates; for the men it was gourmet coffee, small game thingy and chocolates. Susanne stayed again and will leave at 3:30am. I hate that she has to drive so early, but we had sooo much fun today I am so glad she was here. Making the cookies and putting together the buckets...ooo yeah, and the fact that I got "lucky" under the xmas tree!!! I know TMI...but it has been years since the "under the tree nookie". OK...Off to grade some papers and watch survivor! Have a great night everyone! xoxoxoxo

  12. I was released Thursday & I have had diarrhea at least 1 time a day since. Do you think it's just from the anesthesia? I am able to get in my liquids just fine, no issues. Also my Vitamins & b12. Been taking the Prilosec they prescribed. No pain meds since 3 am (yay!), or nausea meds since last night (another yay!). Up at 7 this morning, watched tv, took a 2 hour nap, watched a movie, took a shower, dried & straightened my hair, read part of a book & going to go walk at the mall (bc it's 104° here today, yuck!!). So what do you think the diarrhea is from? :-( I don't feel bad when it happens. Robyn

    June 2006 Band Crew

i am assuming that nsv means non-scale victory? if not, that is what it will mean for me. that being said, i hope this one isn't tmi (too much information) but here it goes. i usually have to buy queen plus size pantyhose for sunday morning services. about one week after surgery i noticed that i had on just a pair of queen sized pantyhose and they didn't hurt in between my thighs nor did that make that annoying sound that pantyhose make when they run up against your inner thighs as you walk. i was elated over that. pre surgery, my panties used to be so tight that they cut into my upper thighs but i just refused to go buy a larger size than they already are. about a week out of surgery, and definitely now, i don't experience that anymore. no pair of panties are too tight on me. they are so comfortable. and i have alot of extra space in my bra now and my breasts aren't hanging over the sides competing for underarm space!!!

    OMG IM STARVING.

Hi guys, my surgery is scheduled for 2nd November and I'm currently on a 2 week pre op diet and I'm also finding it really difficult! I'm allowed 4 pints of semi skimmed milk per day, but I can substitute one pint of milk with one slim fast shake. I'm on day 3 and I'm so hungry! Plus (sorry if tmi) every time I drink my milk I urgently need the bathroom So my body feels completely empty! 11 days to go, and I'm going to stay strong and get it done, especially after reading PorkChopExpress post. Morning Wood

Hey guys, Lately I have been waking up with HUGE morning boner. Maybe TMI but its like a third bigger and thicker than my usual erections. I wish I could harness it and have it all the time, not that im lacking im a human tripod ya know but this is some serious lumber. I was wondering if any of you guys have had the same issue, is it the weight loss or something else? Maybe my nightly vitamins or protein shake? Gotta remember to be careful, almost took out the bedside lamp getting outta bed this morning

    Any March Surgeries?

Checking in on a Friday night! How is everyone doing? I am almost 2 months since my surgery was March 1st. I am eating a little more but still very restricted as far as amount of intake at one time. I have found Quest chips crave my need to "having a crunching sound" when eating. Weight from surgery date is 34 lbs and 54 lbs all together. I have way more energy and each week seems to be better. The hardest part has been the acid reflux and constipation. TMI. If I could figure out those 2 issues, all would be really good! Would love to hear how the rest of you are doing!!

    November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Hey There! I was the same day as you and let me tell you a TMI, Saturday night I believe there was a need to go... do you feel the need to go at all? My dr. told me to take Colace. Well I did that no joy (pills are not that big and by now you should be able to take in that size. ) Tried some smooth move nope no joy, I needed to use the suppository that worked and felt so much better after, and ever since everything has been normal. I wish I would have tried the Colace sooner, I believe you can also use miralax in your water. so hopefully that will help.

  22. Just wondering if I could get some words of wisdom or some encouragement. I decided to reach out to my "Family of Sleevers." I started my one week of pre-op all liquid diet on Fri March 11th. My surgery is March 18th. Since Ive been on the liquid diet, which consists of soups, protein shakes, sugar free pudding/jello, water, and juice. I have felt sooo sick to my stomach. I feel so sick right now as I am writing this. Ive been curled up on my couch all day. I dont feel well enough to really drink anything else. I keep feeling like I am about to throw up (TMI-I know). I feel very nauseated. =/ I was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions as to feeling better? I will call my dr tomorrow to see if there are any other options. I dont know if my body is experiencing withdrawls or what. PLS help. Thank you!

    A New Day

Mom had an ultrasound of gallbladder and it is functioning. Now waiting (tmi) for a stool spec for possible colitis.
  24. OK quick update. This surgery has totally played around w my menstrual cycle. Last month I totally lost my period (sorry for the Tmi) I guess the anxiety etc. And now it arrived 2 weeks early. So on top of dealing w my bloated tummy now I have menstrual cramps. But I will look at the positive side, I've read people always lose after their TOM. I can't wait for the pounds to start coming off.

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Okay, if you are weird about medical stuff, don't look at the pics below. I just couldn't not send them though. Turler I thought you might be interested. As I've said, I've been feeling really bad and hurting quite a bit the last few weeks. Well tonight I found out why. Usually I pass very small, sand like stones or on the rare occassion tiny gravel; this stone was huge and the pics don't do it justice. It was so pointed and jagged I'm not sure how it passed. It actually got stuck. I know, TMI, but I'm horrified and I don't get freaked out easily. Anyway, look at your own risk. I certainly hope no one is upset and/or offended that I shared these. I'm always interested in weird medical stuff.
