    Dreaming

of the days I can shop in the regular sizes, walk a lot and not get tired, have more energy, be more active, not worry about seat belts not fitting... I know there's a lot of these kinds of posts but when I'm having a bad day that's full of nausea and I'm feeling like a failure, this is what I think about. A small NSV for me is since I've lost 22 lbs., whenever I go to the store or go out and about, I don't get SUPER sweaty. I live in AZ so it's in the 100s right now, but I used to sweat for NO reason. Now, I only sweat when I'm in the heat for a prolonged amount of time. I don't sweat when I'm just walking around a store or anything. It's so nice.

    Share Your NSVs Here Please!

NSV for myself: My swimsuit from last year was literally falling off me when I put it on two weeks ago. I had to go out and buy a few new ones.

    gaining weight! :-(

Get rid of that scale. Do it now. Hide it, throw it away....I don't care what you do but stay off it. You know just by what you wrote, that there are reasons why you shouldn't focus on the numbers, so why do it? Just follow your doctor's instructions, do what you know you need to do, and the weight will come off. I promise. Look for the NSVs instead of what you weigh. Those are better than any number on a scale. Please...you are just starting out and this is a lifelong journey. No need to sabotage yourself right out of the gate.

    NSVS this weekend

Nice NSVs! So happy for you.......and Felicitations to the new couple.
  8. Hubby and I traveled this weekend to watch my 2nd to the oldest get hitched. Normally I don't do pictures, but I smiled through wedding pictures. Also, though I'm not the bikini type, I did get into some short shorts and bikini top (not ready to show that off yet☺️ So I wore a tee over it.). I went into a swimming pool in public for the 1st time in 30 years.

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

So, total NSV! I climbed a huge dune at Sleeping Bear national dunes a few hours north of me in Michigan. Would have NEVER attempted it 4 months and +76 lbs ago. I was so proud of myself I had to call my dad as soon as I got to the top! You can barely see, but that's me at the top! Wooo!

    Week 2: May 27-31st Sleevers

Hello ladies! Just checking in with you all to touch base on week 2 so far. So far so good... Was having issues with protein but I recently started getting the chaboni Greek yogurt an there's 12-16 grams protein in each 1. It takes me forever to eat one but it's a flavor switch up from the shakes. 5/28 was day of surgery;) SW: 290 CW: 268 NSV: Wedding ring feel completely off my finger!
  11. It is great to have all of you on here who are experiencing the same things and we are all about the place in our new lifestyle. I have had two recent times where I got sick from food that I thought was OK. In both cases it was grilled! I had grilled fish and a grilled burger. I think I have discovered that the food was just too dry. Almost after the first few bites I felt nauseous and actually got the "foamies" and was sick to my stomach several times over the course of a few hours. I was determined to try the burger again and this time I put melted cheese on it, lots of condiments and cut it into little bites and it went down fine. The grilled fish was at a restaurant and I wasn't brave enough to try it again so I fed it to the cat. LOL. Claire - I'm glad you are home safe again in the UK. Thank for the encouragement on my NSV's. KimR - I hope you are feeling better now and didn't buy that many of that brand of protein bars Tammy - I still can barely walk to my car so you are an inspiration to me JannetH - you are such an inspiration and supportive. Glad you are in this forum Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Carol

    NSV

Ok so I didn't know what an nsv was until I read all of the threads. I was banded April 15 and have had a few nsv both before banding and after. My capris from last summer don't fit at all. I feel more inclined the wear dresses now and feel I look much better in them. I had a co worker that sees me daily say how wonderful I looked and it made me glow. My anxiety how lowered tremendously since the banding and losing weight. I'm a happy girl!!

    NSV shout outs

Had a weird NSV today. I get gel shots in my knee (orthovisc) every year or so for a genetic abnormality and they have always hurt so bad, but had my first shot today since surgery and losing 85 lbs and it didn't hurt AT ALL. Amazing! Love my skinny knees!
  15. Great NSV, we take whatever we get!
  16. That's fantastic.......I would count every nsv that i could. It just makes you feel good so why not?

Even in maintenance, you can find NSVs

    This is a wonderful NSV!
  19. A little background. I live in NYC and take mass transit everywhere as I don't own a car. So..some of my NSVs surround train and bus seats. Today, it was the metal benches at some of the stops on the PATH trains that run between NY and NJ. I used to sit on the bench and put my workbag down on the seat next to me rather than on the floor. I'd move it of course if someone wanted to sit. Well now I realize I can fit both myself and my bag in the same space. I don't have to worry about moving it if someone wants the seat. I know it's a silly kind of NSV but it's one none the less and it's nice to be reminded even if the scale is pretty stable, that you can still have these nice moments. Have a great Friday everyone. We're expecting a terrific weekend here in the Big Apple....sunny blue skies and warm temps. What more can you ask for? I think it's finally time to pull out the capri slacks I bought in Florida...lol.
  20. I gave up soda last year... it started as giving up diet soda, but i didnt want to gain, so i limited the sugar soda to a glass once or twice a month. So when they said no more after surgery, luckily i was in the right place that it didn't cause a problem. I have to say though... before I started the liquid pre-op diet I had been eating toast every night, with butter. It's my go to craving when I diet. Not sure why. But the most amazing thing was... when I started liquids on Monday, I actually didn't have a problem with toast. I didn't even think of it until last night (Wednesday). NSV? I think so. But back to the topic i guess... what do I miss? At this phase of my journey... I miss salty, savory and crunchy. A taste other than chocolate in my mouth.
  21. Yay, a.conners!! What you're describing are things we sleevers refer to as 'nsv's (non-scale victories). search the page for NSV inspiration Some of my first included also not having to adjust my seat or steering wheel so my thighs didn't touch the wheel, being able to bend over and tie my shoes without feeling like I was going to die of suffocation, and being able to walk a flight of stairs without sweating and panting. There are far too many to list in one post, but NSV's are a big part of your surgery vicotry! Welcome to the losers bench!

    NSV for me!

Aww this made me tear up! I sure appreciate the support! We all are in this together! I have quite a large pannis (lower tummy) that hangs way down, but I'm wearing some pretty right pants for running otherwise is very painful, so think of it as spanx lol! Sadly, I can't wear any bathing suits bc if hangs below them, which sucks bc I finally fit into my old ones, yet still need to wear shorts or a skirt, thankfully I'm on my way to a panniculectomy this summer! You will get there too! I just got over a huge stall where I only lost a few pounds last month, and very few the month prior, it's so hard, but these NSV are what really keep is going when the scale won't cooperate! Hang in there! Can't wait to here about you running someday!
  23. That's great! My first NSV.... My A1C in January was 10.1. At preop, sometime in April it was 9.9. Two weeks after surgery (early May) it was 8. Endocrinologist was thrilled, already took me off one med.
  24. Congrats! Here's to many more NSV's!!!!
  25. Have to correct my weight.. My hubby informed me that you can't weigh on carpet LOL. Totally off!!! I'm down to 253 from 262 day of surgery. NSV - wearing my husbands T-shirts and there baggy :-) Thanks for the add lylabelle
