  1. Well during my 2 week preop diet I lost 19 lbs. Then the week after surgery I lost 11 more. I had surgery on Feb 5th. I have actually gained back a couple of lbs becuase I am still not filled to the correct amount. I had a fill on March 16th at 4cc's but I was up all night getting sick so I went back on March 17th and got 2 ccs out. Then on April 14th I got another fill of 1 cc so I am at 3 now and I still don't have very much restriction. I just called today to reschedule my next fill to May 12th. That is the soonest they can get me in because I have to see Deperi or Webb because neither Welchel or Hagen could find my port. I really like Webb anyway because when he gives a fill I don't even feel the needle! I don't know how he does it! By the way I was very skeptical about going to Memorial for the surgery but I was very impressed with the whole thing :) I hope that helps :)

  2. Congratulations on recently being banded. I was banded on April 8th. One week before you. How are you doing?

  3. WOW! I could tell you have lost weight in that picture. You have really achieved a lot..it looks like you are close to the half way point on your ticker! Congrats...of course I envy you, I get banded next week! Cali

  4. Hey Doodlebug,

I am so glad you are doing OK and are now back to work. I am sorry getting back in the groove of work was tough on you. I have an office job as Nurse Manager so it was not bad for me other than being backed-up for 2 1/2 weeks. It took me a full week to get caught up. I am fine now. I go tomorrow for my first fill and full set of labs, then off to work to host a Corporate meeting for 12 at my clinic. It will be another busy day. I like it busy, I never have time to even think about food.

Yes, I do know where Gila Bend is and I live in out in the desert like that too. I live way east of Phoenix near the mountains.

It was super hearing that you are doing so well. Keep in touch and I will look forward to hearing from you on the weekends. I know its tough for me to get on line during the week too, with work.

Take care and will chat soon, Lighterload

  5. Congrats to your wife and I assume that you r waiting for her to recover before yours? What a good husband! Who are yur surgeons? Fort Worth Lap Band-Dr. Adam Smith for me! No regrets and only 6 weeks out, down about 25-30lbs (tomorrow is weigh in for me). 14 of that is pre-op! God Bless you and your family, and know that everything will go perfectly! Nancy

  6. I have severly neglected to keep up with this site! :( School just got way too busy for me. Thank God it's summer in 3 weeks. I am doing great though. I have an amazing bf!!! School is going well and of course slowly workin on the weight. haha So we've lost about the same! That's great. We're going to look good this summer. Maybe a bikini next summer?

  7. I am now 1 1/2 weeks post-op. Everything has gone really well so far. The RNs and other staff in Hope were wonderful. I definetly have not regretted my decession.

  8. Hi Rockin Mom

Things are going OK, still have alot of pain but I guess no pain no gain is what they say. Keep in touch and let me know if you have any ideas for liquid drinks to keep me going over the next week. Thanks

  9. I havent moved in like three to four weeks with my weight i do believe that i lost inches but no weight im stuck at 32 pounds lossed but i guess it is better than going up!LOL so my first fill is on April 29 so im excited to get some more restriction!!!!

  10. Hi Shelley, How are you doing today? I went for my "2nd fill" last Thursday and the doctor didn't give me the fill. I feel like I have some (a little tiny bit) restriction. You know I had a couple of bouts with food getting stuck and talked to my doctor about it, so we are waiting until next month or sooner, if I choose to have a fill before appointment. I have done better this past weekend/week. I HAVE to learn to eat slowly and chew thoroughly! I have been consistently losing pounds in small amounts the past couple weeks, so I'm not complaining. I was a little disappointed when he said he wanted me to wait, but then a little bit relieved. How have you been this past week? Talk with you later! Laura

  11. How are you doing?? I missed this message just getting used to the site. I have been doing really well. the hardest thing to deal with is the gas pains. Still on the protein drinks, just progressed to thickened liquids. The cream of soup taste like heaven. Looking forward to week 3 when I can add soft foods. Good Luck! Take an easy : )

  12. hi nancy, thanks for your message... i was on pre-op for 2 weeks and lost 6 lbs and i've lost 7 or 8 since surgery... my ticker says differently because my scale at home got my hopes up.

the nutritionist at the weight loss clinic told me it could be a number of things working against me right now, 1, i'm diabetic and until my blood sugars get leveled my body is producing a lot of insulin and that stores itself in fat and doesn't like to give it up.

    2. i am not a consistent eater... here it is almost 2 pm on saturday and all i've had to day is 20 oz of decaf coffee. she said i need to eat more consistently because my body is in starvation mode and thinks i'm not going to feed it.

    3. i'm very muscular and it's alwasy been hard for me to lose weight.. .she said i may only see 1/2 lb to a 1lb a week.

i'm really ok with that, i'm just wishing i were 30 weeks out instead of 3. but it will come with time. thanks again... keep in touch. steph

  13. I joined a gym near my house but can't bring myself to go becuase I feel to fat. I know it's stupid but these are the thoughts I have. I started on the scale at 310 and have been between 277-281 for two weeks or so...frustrating. I'm just so anxious to see myself thin and feel the energy that comes with it that I stress myself out. I just want to see more weight come off but I guess I have to start working out to see more results. I do thank God that I haven't had any complications to date. I know things could always be worse. On Friday when I met with my surgeon I told her I thought that the first fill she gave me must have not gone in my port because I felt nothing and felt like I could've eaten a horse.

    Any suggestions!

  14. I've been good. Just working... A LOT! Thanks for the picture comment. I've been hitting the gym like twice a day. It has become routine for me now. However, I think I'm beginning to plateau with the weight loss, so I am going in for another fill next week.

  15. Hi there! I hope you had a good vacation. I have not been on here for a few days but a lot has been going on. I saw Ashley a week ago Friday and she is wonderful. I had my sleep study that same night. That was different. I didn't think I had apnea and as it turns out I don't. This past Friday I had the upper GI and am pleased to say that it was not as bad as I was expecting. For some reason I thought they would put a scope down my mouth, but it was just an xray type machine as you drink the lovely barium.

  16. Best Of Luck Cheryl, It's been near a week for me, and I'm STILL glad i did it! You'll do great with that wonderful Husbands help!

  17. You look amazing. Congratulations on your success. I think exercise makes a big difference in how the body looks during weight loss (even though the amount of weight lost is about the same for those who exercise and those who do not exercise). I, like you, exercise 3-4 days/week. I love exercise especially now that the weight is coming off. Can't wait to see more of your success photos.

  18. Have you gotten a date yet? Don't hesisate to call and nag your insurance!! I did and I got a date in less than a week. As of today I have lost 99lbs... I am soooo close to 100!

  19. Hey Kenzie!

Nice to meet you and I am glad to help! I know when I was at your stage I wanted to find women my age to see if it really was working... and it does. I've been over wieght my whole life and obese for the last 17 years. I had given up hope . As of today I have lost 99lbs!! The band is working better than I dreamed!! The 3 monthes will go by quickly. The things I learned during the 3 monthes have really helped me out. My friends who did self pay with no couseling have not had the success that I (and others with couseling) have seen. I assumed that insurance was stalling, however, I learned a lot during that time. Please let me know if you have any questions or just want to vent!!

  20. Let's just say the first week I hardly got any liquids in. My stomach just felt full all the time. Today is the first day I really felt hunger. I got a little worried about that because I'm on pretty much a regular diet now. I feel great today, so hope that continues!!

  21. I am actually getting it done in Mexico... so I am really nervous but I guess I would be anywhere I went!I don't really have a pre-op diet except clear liquids the day before than nothing the night before... I am in school right now for nursing, but I will be working as a CNA this summer and won't really start the manual labor til 2nd week of june. I wanna be around 135 or 140... how bout u how are u feeling?

  22. I had another fill on Monday and boy do I feel the restriction i told my doctor that with the first fill i was doing good then after two weeks i was eating allot i mean allot that I gain 3lbs OMG i was like WTF but he said it was normal Im like to who?? So I started going to the gym too im so so sore.

    WOW 5lbs thats good

  23. Hi there well the fill must have worked because i losted 3 pounds so i have now losted 37 pounds!!!! So Excited!!!!!Hopefully i can do it again next week !!!!

  24. Hey! No it wasn't. I got all excited because I lost 3 lbs in a week and then 2 lbs the next week but I only gained 1 lb and I'm back on track this week looking to lose that lb plus the next 2. So I'm down 4 lbs from my last fill on the 25th of April so I'm on track. My average is 2 lbs a week. How's the liquid diet coming along? Just think 1 more week! What hospital is your surgeon doing it in? I had to go down to Harper University Hospital (part of the DMC complex) in Detroit.

  25. Hi Anya. I totally understand. I have a little restriction. It is getting very hard to eat solid food too early in the morning. I can't eat until I am up for atleast 2 hours and at work already. I was supposed to go in today to get my second fill, but like you said, he is out of the office for a few weeks. So.. I see the nurse pract. this Thursday. I have not lost any weight from the first fill, but I have not gained either. I am pretty sick right now though. My allergies have turned into a full blown upper respiratory infection. I am bound to lose a few pounds from this just because food is NOT appetizing at all. I can't taste anything!!! I am sorry you are having a hard time. Just do your best but don't be too hard on yourself. The weight loss and restriction will all come in due time. Good luck. Take Care.
