I was sleeved in February and since then I've had a few periods but they were normal/light. I got my period 2 days ago and I've never imagined it could be like this. I'm bleeding non stop and I don't know what to do about it. I went through 4 pads and 2 tampons while at work yesterday. It's insane. I'm not on any type of birth control but maybe I should be so I can get this regulated. I was bleeding so much this morning that there was no way I could go to work today. Has anyone experienced this before? I called my surgeon's office but the nurse said that while it may be normal due to the hormone changes, I need to talk to my obgyn. Unfortunately, I don't have one yet, as I'm relatively new to the area. I guess I will call around and find one today. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this, especially since it has been 4.5 months since my surgery.

I couldn't do even Lactaid, so introduce it slowly if you use it, and Immodium only made me feel worse (horrible gas pains), so whatever you try do it in moderation and be careful until you know how you'll react. I do soy milk and it's great. I was fine for a few weeks post op, or at least I didn't put two and two together until I was on purees and soft foods. Then it hit me and I had to cut out all of my dairy for a while. For the longest time I could only tolerate hard cheeses in very small portions. For me the symptoms were very painful (and TMI, but horribly stinky) gas, all-day nausea if I consumed dairy, a rumbling belly and of course, the diarrhea. I had to switch Protein shakes, cut out all dairy except small portions of hard cheeses and move to soy milk. Around one year out I started trying dairy again and found that cheese wasn't much of a problem. I'll be two years out in a few weeks and I can now eat most dairy in moderation. I can have one or two servings a day but I still cannot drink any milk. So, I can have a splash of cream in my coffee and be okay, and have one serving of yogurt but if I have any more dairy that day I'll be sick. I live somewhere I can't find cottage cheese but I'm definitely trying that again as soon as I'm stateside. So even if it is lactose intolerance there's a good chance you'll won't be saying goodbye to all dairy forever. ~Cheri

My surgeon said about 3 days after but you should definitely be taking stool softener...she was right I had a bm on day 3 of being home (sorry tmi) it all depends too when you stop taking pain meds because that will keep you bound up...and yes flatulence def counts...I say as long as you feel ok and your stomach doesn't hurt then I don't think you have to worry about when it is going to happen...it will happen when it's time

At 1 year in and 78 pounds down, I am grateful for: 1. Going from an 18 to a 10 and shopping at regular stores in the regular size section. 2. Being a leader in my cycling/spinning class when 10 months ago I couldn't last 5 minutes on the back. 3. Being healthy and active with my husband and kids because I'm not tired all the time. 4. Weighing less than my husband for the first time in our 15 year marriage. 5. This is TMI but....looking down and being able to see what I am doing when I'm shaving my bikini area without the use of mirrors

Hi All, Let me begin by saying this site and everyone that is open and honest about their experiences have been so helpful in my journey and decision to be sleeved! I am a 28 year old female from Australia and am currently 138kg (303.6 lbs). I have struggled with my weight since I was a child and have tried every diet known to man! But nothing has stuck unfortunately. So after much thought and discussion with my husband I believe the sleeve is my best choice. I have had depression and anxiety for about 10 years now and one of my phobias is being somewhere or with people and having an accident (not that it's actually happened, but it's been close before!)- TMI - sudden nervous bowel issues. So the thought that there is any chance of getting dumping syndrome absolutely terrifies me! I know that this can happen if you eat something naughty after sleeved (I have read this on this site) but I am scared I could be one of those people that may get it without reason. Can dumping be controlled? Eg. Anti- diarrhea tablets? This is the only thing that worries me about WLS. Any advise or comments would be great!

It's when some food goes straight through you. I have this problem with milk post-op. I can drink regular milk and be in the bathroom (TMI) pooping it out in minutes. It's NOT common for sleevers, but it is common for gastric bypass and RNY patients. Mine is because I'm now lactose intolerant.

i dont like alcohol at all, except for a strawberry margarita every month or 2(woohoo !!!!), but 3 months out i had 3 small sips of a margarita during a mexican food dinner, and (TMI ALERT) had to excuse myself to the bathroom where i lost everything............ baddddddddd slime........... i have had a couple of margaritas at home since then with no probs, so im guessing it was the type of tequila that triggered that very fast reaction (cheap resturant type vs good stuff ???) just say' in be careful of when, where, and what you drink as peoples reactions can be different after they're banded. Cheers !!!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
findingmyself replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The Queen of Stalls made it to Onderland!!!!! May I have a cheer? So excited! I made it yesterday but the ever positive girl here woke up with some serious vinegar that lasted all day. Even had a rough nite sleeping. I am guessing hormones although I am post menopausal (sorry guys for TMI).. Is anyone else finding a grouchy bug that shows up when your weight goes down? I would seriously like to exterminate it. Made my way into L shirts from a 2x (5 inches gone from my chest) go figure. Now I want the w off my pants! Sleeved 4-24 down 24 lbs. Best wishes to all of you! -

On day 4 I moved from jello and popcicles to potato soup and protein shakes. Ever since I had the soup my stomach HURTS! Not my "band" but like my stomach isn't used to the richness of the food or something and now everything i eat makes me have diarrhea. Has this happened to anyone else? I am starving and DO NOT want jello!!!! -

I'm 5 days out, on a clear liquid diet. And starting this morning, any time I drink something that isn't plain water, I end up running to the bathroom and being in there for awhile emptying out. Sorry if TMI. I just hurt so bad. I had some broth at lunch, almost instantaneously it seemed to go through me. Whats the deal?

Has Anyone Had Successful Ivf With Lap Band?
Jim1967 replied to Kekebefree's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hi Kekebefree,,, I have been and still am on clomiphene 3 days a week and I take Arimidex once a day. My Urologist found my estrogen level was a little high and was interfering with my testosterone. His hope was correcting this issue would increase my count and it did but very very little. For 7 months we monitored and I had analysis done. Doctor informed me after 7 months we did all we could with medicine and that Surgery was the next step to see if there is a blockage and see if he could extract specimen to use for IVF. On March 28, 2012 I had the surgery and no blockage was found but they managed to extract a little viable sperm. Doctor said it was very little and it would be wise for a back up plan for donor sperm just in case. My Wife and I are still on the fence on that one but a decision needs to be made soon as the IVF is going to start on her next cycle. As you can see I am pretty open guy and perhaps I over shared here but you're husband has nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. Sexual dysfunction comes in a variety of ways and it is a serious health issue for men and women. It can play havoc both mentally and physically. Here is a link that has an overview of the procedure: http://malereproduct...erm-aspiration/ I can go into more detail on the surgical procedure and recovery if your interested. We can even have a private conversation if you like. Either through here or I can message you my email address. Also, I still continue to take the meds listed above and will continue to do so. Without getting too much more into TMI I take those meds because of the increased drive and performance and on the non-sexual front I have increased motivation. I have blood tests and see my Urologist every 6 months to ensure all is well. All the best,,,Jim -
More Confidence In Bed After You Reach Goal Weight?
dhales replied to lovex5's topic in The Gals' Room
At first I thought so...I started at 195 on the day of surgery. My highest weight while married as been about 220. I am now 165...You would think I would feel sexier and I do when my clothes are on. Strangely...I feel less so when they are off. Sounds strange and maybe TMI...but my breasts were a full size DD and although I was larger physically...I was firmer. Here's the TMI part...my boob's have deflated and everything seems to so much more saggy (e.g. tummy and thighs)...I actually feel more self conscious than before. I know its strange...but that's my answer. I am exercising and although I am firming up...the loose skin is still an issue. -
Coffee, Just What I Needed To Get Going!
miswoo posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 6 and I had two puny attempts at a BM (sorry if tmi), one with fleets and one with phillips. Phillips never works for me right away buit will make me feel terrible for a day before any relief. Saw someone else that said she did coffee and it helped so I thought I would try...man did it, gone three times so far and feel great! Best of luck to all who are suffering in this area! -
Everything went well. Honestly, so far, it hasn't been too bad. I'm starving. I could only have ice chips all day yesterday. The gas pain was horrific, but (tmi) I had a bm almost immediately so that subsided. The incision with the drain was/is the most painful. Fortunately, most of my pain has come from this stupid IV. I didn't get in a whole lot of walking yesterday, because I was so nauseous. However, I have been getting my walking in since earlier this morning...I haven't gotten much sleep. I suspect that I won't need very much pain medicine today, because I am starting to feel a lot better. I can't go home until Thursday...my doctor decided that before I came here. The hospital staff is awesome, so I don't mind staying. Thanks for all of the well wishes!!! You have no idea how much they help!!! Little Bits

Trying Not To Worry (Small Complication)
sid_n_reagans_mommy replied to sid_n_reagans_mommy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thanks for checking in on me. Unfortunately, I'm sitting in the emergency room :-(. Over the course of the day traveling home, I have developed a fever, achiness, and a couple of my incision are oozing (sorry for tmi). I'm so scared right now. I just want to be home healthy with my babies!! Please pray for me that this isn't too serious! -
I had my surgery yesterday morning and was supposed to go home today. They say I'm "borderline dehydrated" so I'll have to stay until tomorrow. That part confuses me though because I've been on nonstop fluids, drinking 1oz or more every 15 minutes, and my pee is practically clear! (sorry if tmi) my dad thinks they're milking the fact I've got two private insurances paying for all this. I just want to get home to my baby. How long were you in hospital??
-
well i am not sure what it is but i know that sometimes (after anti-biotics) i got nasty yeast infections.(sorry TMI). i know at surgery, they were giving shots like crazy for stuff like that. i agree with TK, get to dr as soon as you can to be safe
