    I've been bad

Soooooo I had off from work the past week from Christmas through New Year's and go back Monday. I have eaten so bad! I never over eat as I've never been able to or wanted to push that boundary. Nothing really bothers my pouch per say either. I just have been kind of grazing throughout the day which is not good and on unhealthy things such as potato chips and a cookie here and there. I was sleeved back on 01/31/15 and this is my first slip up since then. I do not plan on this becoming a habit or my new way of eating. I never want to go back to how I was before and I guess me coming here and talking about it is just me needing to get my thoughts out and see it in words lol. Well thats that and here is to an even better year than before for everyone. Thanks!

    I need support!

Kat...Take a deep cleansing breath! You are doing an awesome job just by realizing that you need the help! I was banded Feb 10 ,2006 on March 19, 2006 my husband was diagnosed with Cancer....my stress level hit mach 9!! The things that kept me going were these.... I kept reminding myself that life is real, things happen and sometimes those things are messy and ugly. All we can do is move forward and eating everything that isn't bolted down is not going to make it all better. If I felt like losing my mind (aka...eating everything in sight) I would do one of the following... walk around the block real quick drink a bunch of Water allow myself a small snack that was ok (100 calorie pack etc) if I was hungry turn up some music that made me want to dance turn on some music that made me mellow Put a pillow over my face and scream as loud as I could Find those things that you can do that don't involve icky foods. Also stick to your guns! I learned from personal experience that one "this cookie won't matter" leads to two...then three...see a pattern here? Your doing great keep up the great work and don't let the jerks get you down!!
  3. Since being denied for WLS by my insurance in early Feb. 2010, I have been in a major depression about my weight and desperate to do something about it. I scheduled a Lab Band surgery in Mexico for the end of this coming April. However, I am having a lot of mixed emotions because my husband and close friend are completly against me going out of the country for this surgery. And If I do go through with it I will be traveling alone with no support. I am so emotionally torn because I desperately want this surgery but I am very afraid of the risks of being out of the U.S. Can anyone please share your experience if you've been to Mexico for this procedure. I appreciate it very much.
  4. to ever get this far, and then have second thoughts. I've done my seminar, first doc's visit, seen the nutruitionist (love the Protein shakes). My doc said I had to lose 10 percent of my body weight, which for me is 33 pounds. By the end of the first 3 1/2 weeks, I've lost 21 pounds. I've never been on a high protein diet before, and I seem to be thriving on it. I'm not hungry, and, so far, no uncontrollable cravings. I'm so confused. I had myself prepared and ready to have this surgery, and now I find myself wanting to back out and keep on dieting. I didn't know that he would put me on a diet like this. I only knew about the very strict diet I would be on, a couple of weeks before the surgery. The office will be getting me qualified with my insurance after I go in, in another month. I only need to lose 9 more pounds. I don't have much time to change my mind if I really don't want to do this. Any thoughts or opinion--no matter what they are--would be appreciated.
  5. I never had a band, and I think I'm fairly lucky with my sleeve. Eveyone is different. I don't have anything that I 'can't tolerate'. I eat everything, white meat, dark meat, chicken meat, beef meat...lol, you get the idea The drier things are (white meat chicken) the heavier they sit in my stomach, I always liked my meat rare, now I like it bloody rare. I get an overly bloated puffy feeling if I eat too many carbs such as bread an Pasta, but I can still eat them. The worst thing for me is carbonation, it's a blessing and a curse really. It's a blessing because I can't drink soda anymore, but a curse because evey now and then there is an occasion that calls for champagne and I can only swirl my glass until it's practically flat before drinking a few sips. Some people have GERD and heartburn, others, like myself do not. If I eat too much, I puke. I haven't puked more than 5 times in almost 19 months, most of the time it was early out, I think once was from just being dumb and not listening to my body. I don't have hunger anymore. I have a little bit of ghrelin now, but nothing like I used to. The grehlin comes back after the first year or so, but by then I was already in control of my portions. I still drink one Protein shake a day to meet my requirements, but otherwise I just eat whatever, I subscribe to protein first then veggies followed by carbs if there is room. I don't drink while eating, and I do still occasionally have a treat like ice cream or cake or a bite of dessert. Id' talk to your Dr. and see if he thinks sleeve might be right for you, based on your history with the band, only he can probably help you make the right choice. Good luck!!

OT-Anyone go to Disney on a budget?

Kimber Lilly - To me it helped to stay on Disney property, Not a disney hotel, but one close. There is a Hilton, Wyndham palce that is nice. I stayed there for a week with my daughter. Great pool and walk right across the street. We drove from IL. I drove straight through each way. My daugter slept while I drove at night and I took my laptop so she could watch movies in the back. I took lots of food and drinkings with us. I even have a cooler back pack we used for the day at Disney with ice packs. This really did save a lot of money( even just on bottles of Water and snacks). If you are going to go to disney for more then two days I would go on line a pre buy your multi day passes you will save a little bit of money doing that. Also if you go to sea World when you go in go right to the left. You can have your photo taken and added to your ticket and you will get a second day for free. You will also be able to avoid parking by taking the disney shuttle. There are tons of places to eat right around the hotels the should not be more then a 10 cab ride - lots of places for kids. Hope this helps, also if you travel at all and have any "Hotel Points" you can use for at least one night that helps as well. also check the hotel rates everywhere. like - travelnow.com, expedia.com, and the hotel's website. Also make sure you call as you never know where you will find the best rate. Also of course try to avoid the "Hot Dates" when the rates are really high. One other tip if you ave a daughter and plan to eat in Cinderella's Castle for lunch call now and make your reservations. When we got there they could give me one in two weeks. I laughed walked away and waited for another lady and thank god someone did not show up and she got us in. It was great cause Cinderella was there and my daughter got her picture taken and all that fun stuff. Good luck and have a great time.

    Here I Go Again...

I have another appt on next week, 9/29/11. I have to see the NP. He's going to basically see if I am progressing with losing the 20lbs required for surgery. I have been eating right (small breakfast, decent lunch, and a protein shake for dinner). My daily calorie intake is 1200 or less. I have lost a few inches (yay for my hips), and a few lbs. My next appt w/ the surgeon is 10/27/11, and hopefully, I will be 20+lbs lighter!

  9. WOW! what a great post! where to start - I mean besides mostly everything that has been said in the above posts... I no longer liked who i was... how i felt... I was so ashamed... I no longer wanted to do anything... besides going to work; I declined invites to do really anything... I too was a hot sweaty mess, legs rubbing together, and just feeling uncomfortable within my own skin. When i would have to use the bathrooms at work, i would pray that the handicap stall would be open... and lets NOT even discuss the whole "trying to wipe my hiney" syndrome!!! Now 5 ½ months later – down 80lbs and I feel better now than I did when I use to be thin… I think this is the BEST I have ever felt!! I am starting to run… (WAIT WHAT?? - ME RUN??? OMG its true!!!) I am healthier, I feel great….. Love being able to shop in any store... I am wearing clothes that haven fit in 10 years! I just can’t believe I got my life back!!!
  10. I had surgery 6 months ago, and have lost 104 lbs to date. My goal is to lose a total of 150, so just 46 lbs to go! I don't exercise very much- I go for walks sometimes. Mine is all from eating very clean and healthy 90% of the time. Even my 10% cheat foods are in small amounts and still healthier than I used to eat.

    Process has Started

Congrats on getting started with the process. I'm about 10 weeks away from surgery. The program I'm in is the most intensive I've heard about. They have everyone do a lot of head work before they decide as a team (surgeon, program coordinator, dietician and program psychologist) that a person is ready and they submit to insurance. All the appointments and my work schedule have made the time fly by. It also helps to know I am not just waiting until surgery, I am working on the mental changes and habits so the changes after surgery won' be as hard. While you are waiting for surgery I highly recommend you read books that will help you with the head game. There are a lot of books on amazon that have really good reviews. I'm on my phone so I don't have access to my book list. The best one I've read so far has a title of something like The Ultimate Guide to vertical sleeve gastrectomy by Dr. V. It's a Vietnamese name. There is also a book about the habits of people who have had long term success with WLS

  13. Today I was experimenting with my morning shake and it came out so smooth and rich, it was as sweet and decadent as any fast food shake I have ever eaten that I thought I would share . First the statistics: 295 Calories 3 Grams Fat 37 Grams Protein 27 Grams Carbs Ingredients : 1 scoop milk chocolate shake mix 1/2 cup skim milk 1/2 cup plain yogurt 1 scoop Isopure Unflavored Protein Mix and 1/2 cup Ice. Blend together in your blender. I had mine between 8 am and 10 am (it makes 16 ounces so it takes awhile to get it all down) but haven't been hungry all day. I have been sipping on the Isopure Infusions throughout the day, striving to get 8 ounces down every hour. I cannot believe how good I am feeling so soon after my surgery. I also wan ted to let you all know how glad I am that I found this website and how much I appreciate the postings from you all.

    OUCH! Help!!

I was banded on 2/22. For the last few days I have had a soreness at the bottom of my esopagus like it is irritated. Whenever I swallow anything it is painful as it passes this point and feel swollen. What are the s/s of erosion? I thought maybe liquids for a couple of days would help. BUT my other problem is that I am so hungry, too! I mean painful hunger pains and feeling like I would throw up from hunger. It's bad. The other day I couldn't eat fast enough (since I am now slow) to get rid of the hunger pain and someone actually had to go get me sugar and spoon! This week I haven't been very good, either. I am so stressed at work and last night I wished I didn't have the band so I could eat, eat, eat. I am scared of having complications since I was banded in Mexico and am basically on my own here. I can call the doc who does my fills - he has a lot fo experience and his scheduler has had a band for 10 years. What do you think?
  15. I've been reading and following a lot of the posts. Trying to get as much information as I can. I had the endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty done 12/13/18. I've been following the recommended diet. I'm about 6 weeks out and have only lost 10 pounds...total. I exercise by walking for 30 mins five times a week & go to the gym for an hour, 3 times a week. I saw the dietitian just over a week ago. She thought maybe I wasn't getting enough calories. I've been getting most of my water in & all my protein. She wants me to eat around 800 calories a day. 9 days later & I've only lost 1 pound. I'm getting discouraged. Anyone else have this happen? Or have some helpful information? TIA
  16. I am soo excited. I am doing it. I am a mother of 5 ( ages 11,9,5 and twin 10-month-olds) amazing boys who deserve a mother who will be able to keep up with them when they are older :-). I lost 48lbs since march 21, 2016 but now it is sooo hard to keep on this liquid diet. I am not going to beat myself up over this but I would like some nonjudgmental advice from experienced sleevers. I know I have shrunk my liver and all my bloodwork is good. I will continue to try to stick to it.
  17. I am 54 years young, live in rural Indiana with hubby, Curt. We are parents of 5 and grandparents of 10. Researching lapband surgery as a possibility for myself. I am about 5'8" tall and 255 pounds so my BMI is 38.8...........my insurance should be ok if I decide to go this direction. Frankly I am sick and tired of trying to lose weight........I have such a huge appetite! From what I am reading this surgery should be a big big tool for me to be successful in getting the weight off and getting healthier. I am diabetic, hypertensive and have high cholesterol. Great to be here. I am reading a LOT. Kathy:D

  19. It took me about 10 days to feel better, I went back to work at 2 weeks. I'm almost 4 weeks post op and I still have restriction, so I know I'm still swollen. Hang in there, it does get better.
  20. thishastowork

    Restriction Will Come

The fullness hits me abut 5-10 minutes later and then I'm feeling really bad! I wish I know exactly how much I can fit without getting that sick feeling.

WTF? Not Losing 3.5 weeks Post

I was banded on 01/25/08 and had my first fill today, 4 weeks later. I am only down 11 pounds. My doctor and nurses all told me not to expect much before the first fill as you only have the band on and nothing in it yet. Don't get discouraged. You are doing great!!
