  1. Fairlife milk is high in protein and low in carbs. Also Greek yogurt is a good protein.
  2. The plain yogurt is going to take some time to get use to...sooo BITTER!!
  3. Hey!! So I tried the Coconut yogurt w fruit and was just fine. Prob was the pistachios. Although this week I am trying to get away from artificial sweeteners in my yogurt so I went light and Fit plain Greek yogurt. I squished up blackberries and put them in to sweeten it up-it didn’t. But I still ate it. I gave up sweet and low in my coffee and now use Truvia but I guess that’s an articulate sweetener as well?!

    Need help week 5

I was eating pretty much everything on my week 5 but very slowly and little portion. I can't drink another protein shake. These are my favorite protein foods: 2 eggs (12 g each) so that's 24g Yogurt 13 g Can of Tuna 25 g cup of pumpkin seeds 12 g Try the multivitamin gummies. I heard they work if you are having a hard time swallowing.
  5. It gets easier once you're able to eat yogurt, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, refried beans. Hang in there. It gets better for sure.
  6. Awesome Dad

    Soft Food Early

I can absolutely relate! I had my first ricotta bake last night just because I had to have something with substance, not just liquid or slimy yogurt. It still amazes me that it can take me 45 minutes to an hour to finish something the size of a half baked muffin. Just the act of chewing something was great. I’m not advocating not following your Doc’s plan, but I do agree that 24 hours may not make a huge difference as long as it is something from the next phase.
  7. Avery's Mom

    Soft Food Early

Soft scrambled eggs saved me! lol try some soft cheeses, I recommend laughing cow, and oikos triple zero yogurt!!! You got this!
  8. Hi can you have ricotta cheese on the liquid diet? I hope so it would be better then greek yogurt. Thanks
  9. I was allowed PB2. I still use it in shakes, greek yogurt and ricotta cheese with a little stevia. Makes a great sweet treat for dessert.
  10. Avery's Mom

    Diet

I was on clear liquid three days then full liquids until week three. for me that included yogurts, cream soups, sugar free jello and popsicles. anything I could puree I did lol
  11. Yes!!! PB2 in my GNC Total Lean 25 Banana shakes!!!! It is awesome! I also add PB2 to greek yogurt.
  12. OP, I can share with you what my typical day is: This is during the work week (weekends vary much more) 8AM - Greek yogurt 10AM - Beef/chicken jerky 12PM - BariatricPal Lite Entree (the vegan chicken curry is my jam) or 6 small meatballs w/ cauliflower tots or 1 cup cottage cheese w/ fruit (this is standard lunch like virtually every day unless I go out to a restaurant) 2PM - TwinPeaks Protein Puffs or Kay's Protein Puffs (occasionally I will have a piece of fruit like a kiwi) 5PM - 5-6oz protein (beef/turkey typically) w/ portion of veggies (mashed cauliflower, green beans, cooked carrots, etc) And sometimes a diet ice cream bar in the evening (yay Breyer's carb smart... soooo gooood). When I go out, I get salads that have protein in them (chicken or shrimp usually) or burgers without the bun. I am 5 1/2 months out. Trainer and nutrition are super happy with this regimen and I rarely get above 60g of carbs a day. I am always over 70g of protein and don't need to rely on shakes anymore to get there. This is about 700 calories total, depending on what I have for dinner. Even though it's not a ton of calories, I feel full because everything is dense or high protein. Take advantage of the high protein options out there, even the ones offered through this website. I've found some really tasty things. The TwinPeaks puffs (off Amazon) are VERY FILLING (21g protein in a single cup and only 3g carbs). Yesterday on the weekend I basically only ate veggies and shrimp and steak and didn't pass 30g of carbs, but still hit like 900 calories because of the steak. Very filling and low carb. I usually have an egg with a slice of cheese melted on it for breakfast on the weekends or cottage cheese. They also now have egg white "crepes" stuffed with guac at Walmart which I am excited to try.
  13. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 17 months since surgery. Current weight 156lbs. Right in my BMI range but lately Up and down trying to find maintenance. No easy task. Food choices remain the same although I may take a short break from yogurt for a while. Labs for my 1.5 yr check up soon. I plan to discuss with my surgeon reflux, bowel movements, sleeve capacity and maintenance. The next time I see them will be at 2 yr mark or after so i plan to get guidance ahead of time. Noteworthy: Finally told a few important people about my surgery, met an AMAZING new friend (you know who you are 😍🌸) & experienced the beach with a bikini. No regrets at all. 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝 20190330_121044.mp4
  14. Lentils and chili, just blend it with an immersion blender... so yummy. Just make sure it's chicken or turkey meat and not spicy. Buy plain yogurt and organic fruit crusher pouches and add a tablespoon of that and also very delectable.
  15. Hello my name is Diana, so far I am having my surgery on April 8 at 12:30pm. So i have to get to hospital at 10:30am. Im worried only for the weigh in, because Ive read some where that if you don't loose weight in two week liquid diet then they cancel surgery. MY two week liquid diet was like this. I'll write what my paper says. BREASKFAST: Protein shake LUNCH: 3 oz grilled chicken, spinach salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, red beans and beets) + olive oil and vinegar dressing DINNER: Protein shake SNACKS: Greek Yogurt, sugar free apple sauce, fresh fruit (berries), whole grain crackers ( 3-4 ), sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles sticks , carrot and celery sticks, they also said I can have sugar free/ fat free PUDDING. ( only had pudding twice ) BEVERAGES THROUGHOUT THE DAY: Your choice of water, crystal light, diet Snapple, diet Gatorade, Tea or coffee ( sweetened with a sugar substitute ), fat free milk/soy milk/almond milk. 2 DAYS PRIOR TO SURGERY - CLEAR LIQUID DIET Water, ice chips, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles sticks, diet cranberry juice, diet Snapple, Diet Vitamin Water, Diet Gatorade-G2, decaf tea, broth based soup ( chicken, vegetables, beef ). I've been following this diet because it doesn't seem hard, yes at some points i wanted to eat some rice and that tasty food im used to. Shoot the spanish ladies in church that always be cooking, we had like two birthday celebrations in church, was proud of myself for not eating the food. Only one day during first early week I ate half a slice of pizza and I didn't even finish it. because i don't really like pizza that much. I tried my very best to stay in the diet especially because I read and saw allot of videos that said that while in liquid diet if i eat carbs my liver will get big again and all the hard work was for nothing. So yeah that was my fear so sugar free popsicles sticks sure to not eat any carbs. just like how i doing during my 6 Month weigh in's. Ill give you my stats: Beginning weigh in for VSG was: 285 lb ..... (my highest weight before tis was 290 lb) height: 5,6' BMI: 46.0 I was cutting carbs such as bread, rice, pasta, and would not eat snacks like i used to. I would get a small snack once a week and like every 2-3 weeks would have some type pf carb. shot i was really proud of myself in thanksgiving during 6 month weight lose. only carb i ate that day and not a lot, it was my moms baked tomato 5 cheese pasta. Anyway ill right how many pounds i lost every month until final weigh in. SEP: 285 Nov: 280 Dec: 276 Jan: 272 Feb: 269 Mar: 264.6 My period was never normal and sometimes it would come and sometimes it wouldn't, didn't know what time of the month it would decide to come. Usually only knew i had my period when I got some spotting. During this weight loss journey, I realized that my body get swollen when i have my period shockingly up to 10lb . Man sometimes during 6 month weight lose i had to visit my primary doctor and thats when i found out this would happen to my body. because one month when i got went for the mandatory weight in i did good and lost the weight i had to. then that following next week i was on my period. I felt heavier and tired. so when i went to primary they told me a gained nearly 10lb i was shocked and really scared because i herd that if you gain weight during this process then they cancel your process and you don't get surgery. Didn't even change my diet, so like i said felt like i nearly had a heart attack when they told e that. During this 6 month weight lose my period seems to start getting stable, two months out of the six my period acted abnormal. As in i started realized that i would get period during middle end of the month. one time it come during last of the month and into the beginning of month. Before this sometimes that would happen to me. that i why i was always so nervous and scared to get my weight in at the bariatric hospital where i would go. Now in this two week liquid diet like i said I've been following it .... but man they got us running everywhere to get the clearance before surgery, so another reason i couldn't have final normal meal like how some people call it. because i had to go to primary and they always weigh you first, and i didn't want to risk them canceling on me for after they said i was approved. Im here hella nervous not really about surgery itself because i know i did what i had to do for the pre-surgery diet. i had to go to my primary for the pre- surgery clearance exams. i had to pee in some cup. i told them i got my period so they said when my period finished i as able to take test that was going to be nearly during begging of week two before surgery. Man i was so nervous because i had to get everything done, in a short amount of time. So i decided to tell them my period finished because it was still in spotting phase for a week. So thankfully no blood was in pee sample and they was able to get result of that test. I kid you not two days later y period came in like it usually does. heavy-medium. Thank God i decided to do that pee test when i had spotting period, because so far im still on my period. Man when i got my regular period i immediately went to weigh myself and i was scared cause i went from 264.6 to 270. i was scared yet again because my surgery is around the corner. Man you don't know how serious i was with the two week liquid diet so that i can loose the weigh. So far today i weigh in at 263lb. this is nice but in my mind not good enough because from my last weight in, im still with my period and swollen and so nervous and scared that they are going to cancel my surgery because of my weight. they probably going to be like oh you didn't loose weight so you didn't do the diet ... BAM no surgery. I really hope this period ends before surgery and my weight goes down, because this would happen to me. like i said im not worried about my liver not shrinking because i did the diet and cut the carbs like i said and sugars so that my liver could shrink. My aunt is also getting surgery same day and i was the one constantly telling her what she was able to eat and what she wasn't and why. The lady who called form hospital said that if i still have my period that they will give me a special pad/underwear to wear. Oh and i got the clearance for cardiologist two days ago. and he gave me blood pressure pills he said a small dosage just to be safe. I was really stressed during these two weeks before my up coming surgery also running like a chicken with no head trying to get all test done and get clearance. Because my coordinator forgot to give me the paper that primary had to fill for the clearance before surgery. Also my primary doctor only goes to my clinic on MON,TH,FRI. and cardiologist on Mon and the other guy to scans your heart comes in on Friday. So that was all during these two weeks before surgery. I pray that am able to get this surgery . Has anyone had a type of similar problem like mine. if so i would love to read about it. Also will keep you guys updated on the statues of my surgery on April 8. Who ever read this thanks for reading i know its long.

    Food Before and After Photos

Oh you know. You started the whole love affair with matcha yogurt and nuts seeds and berries. LOL. Can't wait to talk to the oncology RD to find out if I'm allowed to have chia seeds and hemp hearts again! Cuz I will be flat out rippin' off your recipe.

The diet my dieticians gave me doesn’t include a puréed food stage. I’ve gone from clear liquids to full liquids, and now in stage 3 I can have yogurt, pudding, and strained cream soups. Oh, I can also have oatmeal. On Monday I’m allowed soft cooked beans, vegetables, and low-fat cottage cheese. I’m overly excited about that because my biggest cravings are savory foods. All of these sweet shakes and drinks are driving me bonkers, and the packaged protein soups are drab.
  19. @MGBinIsrael Because you're eating slider foods! Porridge, papaya, banana, yogurt = slider foods deluxe. And btw? You didn't mention you were male and 6'1". Yet another piece of the critical puzzle. Eat dense protein first for satiety along with healthy fats. THEN eat dense veggies to your volume prescription. (mine is 1c/meal max) THEN eat berries, nuts, seeds if you still have room. Avoid the carby stuff. You will dramatically reduce your cravings, the number of times you eat, and up your weight loss. But I will tell you? 55lbs for a 6'1" guy in 6months? Is crap weight loss. You are SQUANDERING your honeymoon period by eating too many carbs and too many cals for rapid weight loss. The end. Don't squander your honeymoon period. It will NEVER EVER EVER come again.
  20. Maybe (and I'm not a surgeon or anything) it's because some of those items are fairly liquid and pass through much quicker than a denser protein would. Oatmeal and yogurt probably pass through very quickly, leaving you hungrier sooner than say a piece of chicken would. I know every day I eat a greek yogurt for breakfast at 8am, but by 9:30 I am needing a piece of jerky because I am hungry again. But then the protein jerky tides me over until 12- 12:30.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

I brought protein water powder but they add protein shakes to my clear liquids diet maybe tomorrow?Protein powder adds a thickness that I can’t stand in anything unless it’s hot or something like yogurt. I hope you didn’t buy too much of all that stuff. It’s really weird how tastes change after surgery. After my sleeve I started loving very high cacao dark chocolate and started to hate foods and drinks I loved. It’s extremely common. Which water protein powder do you use? I got two from vitamin shoppe the other day but haven’t tried them yet. She said the brand dissolves well except the chocolate and vanilla. I got basically fruity pebbles and strawberry-banana

    Ready for pureed food stage

I'm currently in stage 2, and buying a tub of plain yogurt and mixing it with a tablespoon of the fruit purees are my favorite. I can't do the baby food, I just make regular food and stick it in my food processor.
  23. So I tried the coconut yogurt with raspberries (no pistachios). I was fine. Guess it’s the nuts. Weird. Maybe I’ll eat a hand full separately and see what my stomach does. It may be them.
  24. What foods are allowed on your surgeon’s plan? Do you have a print out? I can’t stress enough to log your food. You will never know how many calories and carbs your eating unless you log them. You can’t guess your way through weight loss. Restriction alone will not make you successful in the long term. food log apps - free download. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfitnesspal.android&hl=en_US https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.baritastic.view&hl=en_US Processed carbs are going to make you crave them more and make you hungry. Seriously, I hope you are not eating 267 carbs in the estimate below. My carb range is 55 grams of plant and low glycemic carbs. You didn’t give brands or how many ounces/serving sizes you ate. This is a estimated based on the information you gave. If this is correct you are eating weight gaining calories and macros – You can log your information correctly and get a better look at what you are doing with your diet Logged in Myfitnesspal: 1802 calories - 74 grams protein - 267 carbohydrates - 51 fats 1 cup Black coffee 5 calories .5 cup soy milk 50 calories 1 cup fresh squeezed Orange juice 112 calories Nabisco rice crackers 48 calories 2 table spoons cream cheese 99 calories 1 banana 105 calories oats 1 cup 300 calories meat balls 171 calories .8 cup rice 150 2 oz sweet potatoes 51 calories 1 Banana 105 calories 1 cup papaya 62 calories 2 light n fit Greek yogurt 160 calories 2.5 oz Brie cheese 238 calories 15 small pretzels 145 calories
  25. your diet is pretty heavy on carbohydrates. I suspect you might be one of those people who are carb sensitive (a lot of us on here are). Eating carbs just makes carb sensitive people crave more carbs- thus, hunger. Try swapping some of those carbs out for proteins - eggs, meat, cheese, yogurt (I know you already do eat some of these). Many of us are told to eat protein first, then non-starchy vegetables, and then if we have room left, a piece of fruit or a small amount of whole grains. I'm not particularly carb sensitive, but I rarely have more than one fruit serving a day, and maybe a small serving or two of whole grains. I try to focus on mostly proteins and vegetables. And for snacks, I always pick a protein or else pair a protein with a carb (like apple slices with peanut butter). I rarely eat a carb by itself.
