    Who is in March?

I got my sleeve on March 4th and have lost 59 lbs since. My journey has been good so far. My hair loss has kicked in but I've been expecting that. There have been no complications so I can't complain. NSVs lately has been going to my hometown for a wedding last week and be described as "skinny" "tiny" and "small". I've never been described this way before. I'm happier and would do this over again in a heartbeat.
  2. I decided last night to start my list of clothing to take on my cruise next month and when I was done, it was pretty long. I looked at it again but thought I would use most everything on it and didn't know what to remove. So I decided to see what would fit and what wouldn't in my suitcase. Well guess what? Everything fit. At first I couldn't figure out why because I recall clearly in years past that packing was often a challenge in terms of being able to fit everything and then it hit me... Everything fit because my clothes are so much smaller now. I've been aware of this on some level for a while now especially when I put my bathing suit into the spin dryer at the Y. It used to be so difficult to get the suit in there without some of it getting caught and maybe tearing. These days, I can fit two of my suits in that little space because there's so much more room now. So...as I sat there looking at my full, but easily closed suitcase, I decided I'm going to bring everything and I'll wear it all....even if I have to change outfits two or three times in a day to do it...

    Frustrated (((rant)))

This is a great idea! It has not been a huge day to day problem in my house, but there are days that I just want "something" and this might help. I do hear what everyone is saying. I can only imagine how hard it is to hear that stuff all the time. The only one that tells me that stuff is me! My sister had bypass at least 17 years ago and has gained all of the weight plus more back. I have not even told her or others in my family because I don't want the judgment (my mom, husband, and select friends know). I had a lot of hesitation is this because of what my sister did. I am not her and she is NOT me! You are right! You are not your sister. First thing first is that you admit you are a food addict. Second you fix your brain. Learn why you are a food addict and what brought you to this decision. Then look for the triggers that cause you to eat the wrong things. It is all about retraining your thinking about food. Learning that it is nourishment for your body nothing more. Finding other things to replace that dependency with other positive things. Log the NSV and say something nice about yourself every day. And look forward to a happier healthier you. you deserve it. Take this miracle and run with it to see the girl you really are inside without hiding behind weight...It is not easy but the rewards are endless.......

    NSV shout outs

Awesome NSV tonight.... Went to a Detroit Tigers game. I was walking ahead of our pack, or with the pack, and did not struggle in the least to keep up. Zipped up and down the stairs. Walked up steps in parking deck without feeling like I couldn't breathe. Wearing jeans that are now too big that I hadn't worn since 2008 - friends noticing how loose they were. And of course, sitting in stadium seat comfortably. Awesome night!

Some times the best NSV's are those that are unexpected.

  9. @@QueenBeeBee 113.2? You must be stoked! As for the NSV, that's great!! I remember that feeling, sooooo good!! The next big event in the family is my 21st at the end of March, I plan on dropping jaws I've been eating so well the last 3 weeks and I had a bad day about 3 days ago and I've felt like crap ever since.. I was so sure I would of gained, got on the scales this morning cos its a week since I did last.. 100g grams gone.. LOL so relieved.. Definitely shocked me back into eating better.. I'm just so happy that I woke up the next morning and started eating properly again. I know a day off every now and then is normal/good but I actually shat myself.. hahahahh

    One Year Out Today!

Congrats on your great progress! Keep up the good work. Congrats also on all the other nsv you have seen.
  11. I was feeling pretty down the past week or so. The scale isn't moving, Protein and Water not where they need to be, and still feeling pretty wiped out. I finally decided to go into my closet and try on a few pair of pants I bought but never fit into. And much to my surprise....they fit with no problem!! 2 sizes smaller too! :-) Then I decided to step on the scale and it finally moved! Only a pound but none the less....it moved! I think I am finally realizing that the weight will come off at its own pace and that I have to throw my expectations of how much I should be losing out the window! This is not a sprint!!! It is going to be a lifelong journey. It really doesn't matter how long it takes does it? Slow and steady will win my race. I am ready to embrace this thinking!

  13. Hate shorts. No nix that. I love my new size 14 shorts. My legs have lost weight too and the fat hanging around my knees is looking so much better. And the don't cause muffin top. I'm actually fitting all of me in a 14. Here I was getting used to my 16s.
  14. Are the weirdest and best words to hear from a complete stranger! Today while shopping, I asked a sales woman for help finding one size, but she was convinced I would where a smaller size. "You're so tiny!" She said as she got out her measuring tape. This was also not an average sized woman either! She was a twig in her 20's. I was shocked and she was right. I needed a size smaller... I've had a lot of fabulous NSVs lately :-) which is nice bc I seem to be stalled...

  18. McButterpants says it very well, especially this: "The sleeve will only stop you from eating copious amounts of food in one sitting. It doesn't stop you from going back to the bag of chips 30 minutes later when you can fit more into your sleeve. The sleeve is simply one tool in your tool box.." Here's my added 2 cents... I was very fortunate in that I was not hungry at all for 2-3 months post op. I ate because I knew I should. When my hunger returned it wasn't as intense as before, and by then I had established my new eating habits which helped a LOT. Now I eat every 4 hours (8a, 12n, 4p and 8p), and I keep my carb intake as low as humanly possible. Both factors contribute to my never being hungry for very long at a time. What keeps me on track when I could never stick to a diet before: The feeling of satisfaction / fullness after each meal, plus the decreased hunger, is the main thing that makes it possible for me to stick to the plan. I do get head hunger sometimes, and when I can't ignore it I have a SF popsicle or some SF Crystal Light. If those don't work and I indulge in a cookie, I can now stop with one - which I could never do before. I've lost a significant amount of weight doing this, so I KNOW it works. I've been able to stick to the plan for 7 months now, which is way longer than diets I tried before surgery. I will be da**ed if I'm going to throw away the $12,500 I paid out of my pocket to have this done, not to mention all the work I've done (and the goodies I've resisted eating) to get to this point. Sometimes I just repeat to myself, as many times as necessary "I'm not going to eat that. Not gonna do it. There will be goodies available when I'm at my goal." And I walk away from the temptation. The support available on this site and on the Facebook group I belong to is PHENOMINAL. It helps SO much, especially at those times when family/friends would probably beat me to death if I mention one more thing about the trials and tribulations -- or the NSVs -- related to being sleeved. Hope that helps. Best wishes.

    Post Op March 2014

Anyone have any "NSV" to share? I've noticed lately people sit next to me on the bus, they would always avoid me in the past! Kinda miss that ..hahaha

April 16th role call - who's with me!

Love this idea!!!!!NSVs are what it's all about!! Just went shopping! Shirt Before 2xl now xl Pant size Before 22 now 16 Bra Before 42ddd now 38ddd I also fit comfy in an airplane seat! Road behind someone on a motorcycle without dropping the back three inches! My office chair is way too big now! My coworkers refer to me as skinny! I'm trying to stay positive everyday. Lots to be thankful for.
  21. Life has gotten in the way the last 2 months. I was unable to take care of me the way I was supposed. Not exercising, not enough Protein all sorts of things. I gained 8lbs. Now 3 weeks ago I was sitting here crying feeling like a failure. I'm back on track in the last 3 weeks. walking 3 miles a day, getting my protein and Water. I have lost those 8lbs. I haven't had a fill in two months.I go for one tomorrow. There will be no great loss, but no gain and I realized I'm good with that. I can't beat myself up for no being able to take care of myself (I was the primary care giver for my MIL the last 3 months and she passed a month ago). I've lost 60lbs since surgery in November. One hundred total since last May. When I think of it that way I'm pretty proud of how far I have come in the last year. So now onto the NSV. I can ride my bike without the seat hurting my rearend. Pretty happy about that. I haven't been able to do that in about 3 years. So all in all a good week for me. Thanks for listening.

    Salad at 6 weeks!

Congrats! I would count that as an NSV! Frankensleeve didn't like any vegetables till around the 6 month mark. Lettuce was just too tough for him. :-)
  23. Pre surgery highest weight 213 Pre op day of surgery 207 5-27-14 Post op one week 193 NSV: down a size in pants to 14 and rings barely stay on.
  24. I would say that my favorite NSV so far is that I went from a size 20W to a 14 in 5.5 weeks! A whole 40 pounds gone. Oh, also that I can shop in my closet now for clothes I haven't worn in AGES because I was too big to fit into any of them. It's exciting!
  25. Wow!! What a wonderful NSV this morning. I got to a meeting late in one of the conference rooms and all the chairs near the door were taken. It meant going all the way around the table to the front to grab a seat. Before I lost the weight, it would have meant unbelievable embarrasement to me as all the folks already sitting down would have had to pull their chairs all the way in just so I could squeeze past them. I had to do it once or twice before and it was awful. It got to the point that I always made sure to get to those meetings early so I could grab a seat right by the door so I wouldn't have to squeeze past anyone getting in or out of the room. So like I said, I was late today and knew I was going to have to get around all the others already seated. Well...hallelujah!! No one had to move in, I didn't have to squeeze my big ass body past anyone...this newly slender gal just walked past all the chairs and sat down at the front of the table. Whatever I had to go through in order to get to this place in my life was so worth it just to know that I don't have to deal with things like this anymore. What a great feeling it is.
