  1. You didn't say, are you getting enough liquids in? I too have a 10 cc band and am now at 6 cc's. I am having a rough time with it now. I spoke with my nutritionist today and she told me to go back to eating soft foods for a week or so. I just went up to the 6 cc's 1 1/2 weeks ago. I'm having back pain really bad, and we've decided that I must be overeating and that is my overly full feeling now. It's extremely uncomfortable. I was having troubles getting enough liquid in, but now that I've gone back to the soft foods, I feel like I'm getting closer to reaching my liquid intake goal. So if you're not getting enough liquids in, try to do so. It really does help to keep you feeling full. If you are getting enough liquids, then you probably do need another small fill. Good Luck!

    What about snacking?

Disagree... I am working my band correctly - and I am hungry between meals.. I can have steak & eggs for Breakfast and by 10:30 a.m. be hungry - real hunger not head hunger - a piece of low fat string cheese will tide me over til I can have lunch. Or I can be out busy doing something and can't stop to eat a meal - I will eat a piece of fruit to get me give me the engery I need to keep my motabolizm going... It boils down to what your doc suggest and each doctor here is different and then you have to take all this knowledge and make it work for you..

"Cardio" setting vs "Fat Burn" setting on elliptical

What is "anaerobic?" I've been using the elliprical for a year now. I complete 60 minutes plus a 5 minute cooldown. I set the settings according to my weight. I then set it on "random," and the level to 10. At the 5, 10, 15 minute intervals, I go in "reverse",and then back forward, and up the level. By the time I'm at 50 minutes, I am at level 20. I'm burning appoximately 770 calories. When I check my heart rate, I am anywhere between 160 - 168. I am 54 years old. Just wanted to know if I should try any other settings or routines.
  5. Hi there! Had my surgery 10/6, the few days were rough. I did not any pain mediation home. I'm feeling great but sure do miss coffee with sugar. My biggest challenge is drinking enough water. It's difficult to drink every 15 minutes. Anyone interested in being part of buddy support group that meets via zoom or Fbook? Stay the course, follow the plan and take Vitamins!!

    surgery tomorrow morning

praying for you guys tonight and will the next few days, also. I am a RN and scheduled April 10 and I am scared, too!! But, God is in control and we just have to focus on the positive. Ask the anesthesiologist to give you something when you get to the hospital tomorrow if you are still feeling anxious. They can give you something to help with the anxiety and while you are waiting to go to OR. Can't wait to hear how awesome you are doing!!
  7. I had incisional pain in the first two days, then I had stomach pain like cramps or something like this till day #9. So I would say 10 days to two weeks then you will be pain free.

    help gas pains

Hi. I've been there too. I did find some relief with the extra strength Gas-X strips. A heating pad on my shoulder helped (just be careful not to put it right on your incisions), peppermint tea, and walking. I also noticed that it hurt worse when I sipped on something very cold. It was better for me to drink liquids that were room temperature or warm beverages. I could not have sf popsicles for about a week - it hurt when I ate them. Not sure if any of these will help. It does go away - mine was pretty bad for the first week, and by about 10 days post-op, it was almost all gone. Good luck to you and congratulations on your new band!! Take care!! Becky

    IBS help!!!!

I have IBS. I was sleeved 10 days ago. I had diarrhea for the first 7 or so days but I was consistent in the way that I would go once every morning but it just happen to be diarrhea. After about a week, I've been having more solid movements. Still extremely soft but not diarrhea which I kind of expect because I'm on liquids only. My stomach/bowl movements are no worse off than they were before surgery so I'm not upset about it. Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    NSVs This Week

Congrats Bryn! I like the snarky coworker one- I can relate totally. I have a snarky, jealous coworker. She always looked down on me for getting the surgery-- she would say "I would never get weight loss surgery thats the easy way out" She was about my size before surgery and she is such a jealous snot. She declined all my super cute size Silver brand 20 and 22 jeans because she said they would be "way too big" ha ha ha So I lied and said try these on they are 18's. (they were the 20's and 22's) and they fit her perfectly (even a bit snug) and she took about 10 pairs of Silver jeans off my hands. lol Then I was like ooops I guess these are the 22's. he he he Meanwhile I am wearing super cute 16's yay!

    Almost A Year Out.............

I know exactly what you mean. LOL... My personal goal is 135 to and I'm 46.Imagine that....We started out at about the same weight as well.... Surgeon's goal for me is 122. I don't think I will see 122. To me that is too little. So I am shooting for the 135 mark. I'm only 5,1'. and my build is on the medium side. 135 should be just right. If I had a super small frame then I can see 122. Size 12's are too big in the waist and butt for me. 10's are a little too tight in the hips. I am between sizes. I never would've thought I would be wearing 12's a year ago. Starting size this time last year was 20 in pants. Tops were XXL. Now 12 pants and small in tops. No more lane bryant.... Sorry nothing against lane bryant just like shopping coldwater creek now. Deb

    surgery question

I had my sleeve done on 10/20/16 and had my post op today. Dr says I can go back to work on 11/9 if I am able to work from home. Otherwise I will be on leave until 11/21. My energy level is so low that I can't imagine commuting 2 hours a day and putting in 8 hours at the office. My employer is pretty flexible with wfh policy so we'll see what my manager says tomorrow. I've been bad

Soooooo I had off from work the past week from Christmas through New Year's and go back Monday. I have eaten so bad! I never over eat as I've never been able to or wanted to push that boundary. Nothing really bothers my pouch per say either. I just have been kind of grazing throughout the day which is not good and on unhealthy things such as potato chips and a cookie here and there. I was sleeved back on 01/31/15 and this is my first slip up since then. I do not plan on this becoming a habit or my new way of eating. I never want to go back to how I was before and I guess me coming here and talking about it is just me needing to get my thoughts out and see it in words lol. Well thats that and here is to an even better year than before for everyone. Thanks!

    I need support!

Kat...Take a deep cleansing breath! You are doing an awesome job just by realizing that you need the help! I was banded Feb 10 ,2006 on March 19, 2006 my husband was diagnosed with Cancer....my stress level hit mach 9!! The things that kept me going were these.... I kept reminding myself that life is real, things happen and sometimes those things are messy and ugly. All we can do is move forward and eating everything that isn't bolted down is not going to make it all better. If I felt like losing my mind (aka...eating everything in sight) I would do one of the following... walk around the block real quick drink a bunch of Water allow myself a small snack that was ok (100 calorie pack etc) if I was hungry turn up some music that made me want to dance turn on some music that made me mellow Put a pillow over my face and scream as loud as I could Find those things that you can do that don't involve icky foods. Also stick to your guns! I learned from personal experience that one "this cookie won't matter" leads to two...then three...see a pattern here? Your doing great keep up the great work and don't let the jerks get you down!!
  23. Since being denied for WLS by my insurance in early Feb. 2010, I have been in a major depression about my weight and desperate to do something about it. I scheduled a Lab Band surgery in Mexico for the end of this coming April. However, I am having a lot of mixed emotions because my husband and close friend are completly against me going out of the country for this surgery. And If I do go through with it I will be traveling alone with no support. I am so emotionally torn because I desperately want this surgery but I am very afraid of the risks of being out of the U.S. Can anyone please share your experience if you've been to Mexico for this procedure. I appreciate it very much.
  24. to ever get this far, and then have second thoughts. I've done my seminar, first doc's visit, seen the nutruitionist (love the Protein shakes). My doc said I had to lose 10 percent of my body weight, which for me is 33 pounds. By the end of the first 3 1/2 weeks, I've lost 21 pounds. I've never been on a high protein diet before, and I seem to be thriving on it. I'm not hungry, and, so far, no uncontrollable cravings. I'm so confused. I had myself prepared and ready to have this surgery, and now I find myself wanting to back out and keep on dieting. I didn't know that he would put me on a diet like this. I only knew about the very strict diet I would be on, a couple of weeks before the surgery. The office will be getting me qualified with my insurance after I go in, in another month. I only need to lose 9 more pounds. I don't have much time to change my mind if I really don't want to do this. Any thoughts or opinion--no matter what they are--would be appreciated.
  25. I never had a band, and I think I'm fairly lucky with my sleeve. Eveyone is different. I don't have anything that I 'can't tolerate'. I eat everything, white meat, dark meat, chicken meat, beef meat...lol, you get the idea The drier things are (white meat chicken) the heavier they sit in my stomach, I always liked my meat rare, now I like it bloody rare. I get an overly bloated puffy feeling if I eat too many carbs such as bread an Pasta, but I can still eat them. The worst thing for me is carbonation, it's a blessing and a curse really. It's a blessing because I can't drink soda anymore, but a curse because evey now and then there is an occasion that calls for champagne and I can only swirl my glass until it's practically flat before drinking a few sips. Some people have GERD and heartburn, others, like myself do not. If I eat too much, I puke. I haven't puked more than 5 times in almost 19 months, most of the time it was early out, I think once was from just being dumb and not listening to my body. I don't have hunger anymore. I have a little bit of ghrelin now, but nothing like I used to. The grehlin comes back after the first year or so, but by then I was already in control of my portions. I still drink one Protein shake a day to meet my requirements, but otherwise I just eat whatever, I subscribe to protein first then veggies followed by carbs if there is room. I don't drink while eating, and I do still occasionally have a treat like ice cream or cake or a bite of dessert. Id' talk to your Dr. and see if he thinks sleeve might be right for you, based on your history with the band, only he can probably help you make the right choice. Good luck!!
