Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
heycrystal2052 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hello all, I didn't know this post was here until a fantastic person told me about, I'll copy and paste what I said. Hello ladies and gents, Quick question, how do you manage to get in your carbs and most importantly, your calories? Prior to starting the fast, I did the 5 day pouch reset and since then, I don't seem to be hungry. Thankfully, I've lost 12 pounds and am still losing. I drink Water through the day and I'm sure, that's a huge part of it. Yesterday for lunch, I had a bacon burger minus the bread, and a salad. I ate half of the patty and a mini salad and for dinner, I ate the other half of the patty and ate another salad. I literally wasn't hungry for the rest of the day. I am not fasting from 12pm - 8pm, and have been for the past week and a half. This is tricky! Any suggestions? -

Good morning! I had surgery December 26th! Merry Christmas to me! lol I have lost 18 pounds so far. I am adjusting to trying different soft foods. Sometime the kind of heartburn like pain when eating is difficult, but only sometimes. I can't really pinpoint when. It happens intermittently after one bit or ten. But I am hanging in there because I hear this gets easier. During liquid phase sugar free popsicles kept me going

Things got done this weekend............. Started with the underwear.... there is no reason one person needs 90 pair of underwear. Why do the call them pair when it's just one... Hmmmm. Got them down to 50. So most of you know i had the band done in 2009 and got down to 143... size 6... very few 4's. Anyway, i never got rid of them because the weight came on 5lbs here 10lbs there... till i had put back 30lbs after the removal. Fast forward to Aug 28, 2019.. Sleeve. Back down, but lower than before and now a lot of the size 6's are too big. So my wonderful husband took me shopping Saturday at Chico's and left with 4 new shirts and 3 new pants. Went home and started the purge..... went through EVERYTHING in my closet and my skirts now fit and a **** ton of pants, all my dresses that were making me look like stuffed sausage... fit... Now i get to shop in my closet again. I did manage to throw out a pile at least 2' high of stuff that is 2x too big. Tonight i get to go through Shorts, sleeveless tops and workout clothes..... after crossfit... i can see a bunch of OOTD post.... Today, are a pair of olive chico's pants bought before band removal.... and a plain white shirt.... I know.. it's too big... but i love it. Pants are too big in the waist... but they fit everyplace else...

Starting the process!
danielleleigh90 replied to MariaC6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I’m in the beginning stages with you, just don’t have to do any supervised dieting. I too had to watch an online webinar and they wanted me to wait to be contacted, but I am the type of person who needs info right away.. soooo I ended up calling lol. Things have gotten started super fast though! I started the process December 31st & have already met my surgeon & dietician. Now I have to complete an MRI, I see the Endocrine doctor Friday, I get the equipment for sleep study the 29th so the ball is definitely rolling! Good luck with everything & it’s nice to meet you! Keep us posted! -
THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD

For whatever I’m allowed to identify myself as (hahaha) .... I’m extremely frustrated. There’s a post going on about my surgery month. Essentially it’s a check in thread. People have posted that they have lost 4 xs the amount as I have and some who had surgery almost a week after me have had lost almost double . Congrats and awesome to them. But I’m so frustrated hahaha I am NOT saying F the doctors, F the plan , F the surgery it doesn’t work .... I’m simply venting my frustration of not losing as fast as my surgery twins or surgery month people. I think it’s good to have this so people can vent and know they aren’t the only ones. Or “Hey homegirl/boy, me too, this shiiizz is frustrating as hell but we got this .” Instead of just feeling like a failure in the corner As far as stalls ... I have nothing to contribute. I’ve been on one but I am having a feeling monthly visitor is contributing. Seeing my team tomorrow so I’ll return with whatever feed back they give me . I know some have stated they wanted to post or been lurking because they are scared to post. If you need to just vent about it - my inbox is open. I’m a newbie to this but I know it can be helpful just to get this shit off your chest ! Good luck to everyone -
Frustrated with "I know someone who gained it all back" reactions
momof3_angels replied to Basham53's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am fortunate that most people I tell are interested and are positive and usually even supportive. The only negative I have dealt with is someone who was obviously jealous and unwilling to look at this as an option for herself. She has struggled to lose weight for as long as I have known her and from what I have seen her attempts have always been half assed and riddled with excuses to not follow her supposed diet. And then she sees me and I drastically lost weight very fast. She asked how I did it and I felt I should be honest with her. Her reaction was negative and she has avoided me since lol. No loss on my part. I made a choice to be healthy and I am doing it. She on the other hand is obviously miserable and probably afraid to attempt real change. But if she ever approaches me wanting more info... I will gladly help her. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I weighed in at 196 this weekend! Life is good! I can barely eat anything, I’m losing weight so fast, I’m a pound per day basically. How long does this initial weight loss last? -

You lost a lot, really fast. Your body is probably just resetting and getting used to the drastic drop in a short time. That is how I felt when my weight loss slowed drastically. Stalls are normal! Stick to the program. Talk to your nutritionist. Kick up the exercise routine. -
Eating to much symptoms
cajunredpanda replied to Slimming Down Steve's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I feel a pressure forming in my chest. I stop once I feel it forming. Sometimes I get the runny nose symptom but it's less common. Like others it's only in one nostril (my left) and it's just enough for a sniffle. I can eat up to 3 oz of (soft) solid food at the moment, but sometimes 2 oz is pushing it. I don't really feel restriction with liquids. Sometimes I drink too fast and my stomach hurts for a minute, but otherwise I can drink all day long no problem. I think I've missed my fluid goals only three times after coming home from the hospital. -

You guys can do it! The holidays are over. Now is the time to recommit yourself and get the scale moving again. What has helped me is eating my protein first and stopping right when I start to feel full. I'm a pretty fast eater and I don't take my time to eat just so I can eat the whole portion. Listen to your stomach not your mind when you want another bite. I don't count right now either I just try to keep track of my protein. P.S. Welcome Miss Liss 😊

What's the longest stall you all have experienced? I am 9 months out and am currently in month 3 of a stall. I'm getting so frustrated ☹️. In another thread someone suggested intermittent fasting. I may try that -

I was on pre op liquid diet for 2 weeks. I lost 12-15 lbs (depends who’s scale you ask) I am also certain a good amount of it was water weight I am starting to wonder if my weight loss in general slowed down because I went from working out like crazy to a more sedentary lifestyle post op. (Yeah, yeah CICO 🙄😆) I did spin today . Felt amazing to get back to a more normal schedule —————— I’ve never had an issue losing weight but I’ve had issues with bingeing, especially when stalls hit. I am working with a psych during this journey. She had WLS and eating disorders and said this tool can truly help I guess I should come to terms that I’m not realistic with how fast my numbers should be dropping haha it’s just insanely frustrating when I see Brittany over there melting away and I’m like oh , joy more protein shakes and the scale doesn’t want to budge hahaha. Meanwhile, before surgery, I could eat and lose weight faster than purées and protein drinks( but I was also working out). I’m not hating VSG . I definitely need the tool and the lifestyle change for long term just frustrating at the beginning phase -

Of course it's ok. It's also ok when people say that they don't want to get to a BMI of below 25. However, there are also quite a few people complaining about losing "too slowly" and some of them act like it is some kind of evil magic that prevents them from losing faster. As long as there are people bitching about how it's not fair and how they should be losing faster on the minuscule amount of calories they eat there will be people trying to explain to them why they're maybe not losing weight as fast enough as they think they should. And there should be people making clear that there is no evil magic that prevents people from losing weight faster and hopefully they won't stop pointing this out. Nobody is telling you how to lose or how fast to lose. -

Neither did I or most likely not any or at least not much of the women you can find on here. Most people do seem to have unrealistic expectations how fast the weight should be coming off or not. That's why many people say one shouldn't compare the own weight loss rate to that of others. (Ok, mostly it's more like a "I know I shouldn't compared, but...") I don't think that people are lying. However, they're overestimating what their TDEE is. -
Daily Exercise Amount?
momof3_angels replied to 🌱VeGan❤️HeArT🌱's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am all over the place. Some weeks I walk 4-5 miles almost every day. Last weekend I walked 10 miles and 14 miles (Sat/Sun). I haven't walked since then. This weekend I will do some more really long walks, but I do hope to walk more during the work week. My daughter can't drive to her after school activities since She doesn't have her drivers license, and it is hard to get my workouts in every day like I would like to. She gets her license next month though so I am excited. At that time I hope to go back to doing Pilates at least twice a week. Those classes are 45-60 minutes and I tend to walk a couple miles afterwards. I am not doing weights or anything right now. I MAY try to join a Zumba class, if I can get through it without my heart rate getting too fast like it has in the past. -

I am only 3 weeks out and maybe my mind set will change later in the journey BUT I find myself a slow loser. I am not losing the same amount as EXAMPLE fatboyslim. I am also not losing around the same rate as pre op. I find it frustrating that I came to this to be a “safe” place to talk about frustration of not dropping lbs as fast as others (I know we shouldn’t compare but we do) I am dropping lbs just not like the 5-10lbs a weekers. I’m following my plan the best I can - I am lacking the protein. I’m having a hard time trying to drink 2 protein drinks to meet my goals AND eating 2 oz of protein (eating part of tuna creation pack with good culture cottage cheese to “soften” it up) I’m just insanely full. Anyways, I get CICO , I agree with it BUT right now it’s just not going A+B= C for my body on the scale BUT I’m definitely losing inches. Also, I’ve been spotting on and off since Monday and have had period like cramps . So I know my hormones have to be a little wonky atm. Usually during my monthly I hold water weight 🤷♀️ . My face is breaking out like a teenagers too 😩 I usually have clear skin with a pimple or two during that time. Back to the point. I find it frustrating when I see people blow the weight off and I’m doing the same thing and I look like I’m going snails pace THEN some say it’s being unrealistic to have the expectations of losing fast like others or I must be lying , making excuses etc etc etc I am just not understanding why it’s so detrimental to others if I want to label myself a slow loser ? Or other people do? It’s keeping me from the mind frame to restrict (to only drink water at this point to drop faster), or say F it if I can’t be like Mike - why bother?. Saying I might be a slow loser or I am one makes me feel better or at peace that I’m not melting like others 🤷♀️ maybe it may help others who are feeling a bit defeated that they aren’t dropping as fast Anyways, end of rant -

Okay. "Slow" or "Fast" is all relative. IN THE BEGINNING, its normally easier for a 300lb person to lose 4-5 lbs a week vs a 225lb person. I started at 235 lbs 2 weeks before surgery. I just looked it up, and not counting the first month post op, I averaged 2.8 lb loss a week until I reached goal in 7 months, with a total loss at that time of 110 lbs (which includes the 11 lbs I lost in my two week pre-op diet). I DO NOT think my 2.8 lbs weekly loss as slow in any way whatsoever. In fact, I think it was wickedly fast. I stuck to my plan those 7 months. Pretty strictly. I made sure to get in my exercise. I figured there was time later for a looser diet AFTER I lost the weight. I am now 1 year & 3 months post op and my total loss is standing at 120 lbs, which is more than 1/2 my total (NOT excess) body weight. Today I am 115lbs with a BMI of 21. I'm 5'2". However. Full disclosure, I am of the CICO camp. I also understand that some peoples' CICO exchange are alot more efficient than others' due to a gazillion reasons. But I at the base level, it holds true. You can't argue science. If you don't eat a stick of food for a month, I guarantee you, you will lose a whole lotta weight, no matter what issues you have. Is this healthy? Hells no. But is it fact? Hells yes. With that said, I do also understand that there are folks who need to vent their frustrations, as it makes one feel better to feel understood and commiserate with others who find themselves in the same boat. There is security and camaraderie in numbers. I mean, it does sorta suck to be told "this is all your own making", regardless if it is true or not. The title of this thread is the "SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT GROUP". Its clear that the purpose of this thread is for those who believe they are slow losers (whatever the criteria is to qualify oneself as such) and to vent and share their frustrations, and not to attend a science lesson. Perhaps another, separate thread can be started for the purpose of continuing this debate, and this thread can be left to those who need it to get through. I would think that those who want the information will go there to find it. Of course no one is stopping anyone from posting what they think, when they think it, to wherever they want. Good Luck, everyone. -

Most people who think they're slow losers still seem to lose weight pretty fast. The WLS universe seems to be kind of warped in more than one way, e. g. - what "losing weight slowly" means. - what constitutes a "high calorie diet". -
January 2020 Surgery Date
Uomograsso replied to Krimsonbutterflies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On day two of 1 week liquid diet. It hasn't been too bad so far as it allows for something every hour or so. 8am - Protein shake 9:30am - sugar free jello, 1 cup of fruit and 8 oz water 10:30 am Protein Shake 12pm - 16 oz water 1pm - Protein Shake 2:30pm - 1 cup low sodium broth, 1 cup of fruit and 8 oz water 3:30pm - Protein Shake 5pm - 16 oz water 6:30pm - Protein shake 8pm - 1 cup low sodium broth and 1 cup of fruit Spreading things out over the day helps. Prior to this I was dieting using intermittent fasting, so I am used to feeling hungry and can deal with it. -
I've gotten it when I drink too fast or drink something too hot or cold. My stomach especially seems to react when I drink really cold things.
-
This is when I haven’t drunk too fast , it too soon after food . I think I’m a bit paranoid because I had ecoli in my urine and got really bad pains and then got bruised ribs from trying to be sick for hours and hours. The pain started to get better , but has come back ,tho not as bad .
