    Steady losers ;-)

Brandi - I know how you feel, I've been having a hard time getting used to this fill and have had that horrible stuck feeling way too much. Tonight we ate at chinese buffet - 11 of us so I didn't have much choice - so I took about 2 bites and yep - was sick - so I go in the bathroom hopeing to throw up but I never get that lucky. I slimed for a bit and finally was about to spit up about a tblsp of flem. Sorry tmi - stood there a minute and felt great. I went back explained that I must eat slowly and was able to very slowly eat and I felt great, I actually stopped before I felt full. It was kinda weird tho bc everyone else was having dessert and I was still nibbling away on my chicken. I really forget what bad habits we all had. Kirsten can't wait to see your pics! As you can see dd had her laptop with, we are in hotel, took my sleeping pill, so I'll say goodnight and will talk to you all soon.

    Steady losers ;-)

StephC - WTG on the X-country skiing! You work it girl! And if you were sweating, you were burning calories and losing weight. i'm about to haul my hank up on the elliptical for an hour. Thanks for the offer, but I ordered some of those bands from Ebay last night. I got a green one, a red one, a yellow one, a blue one, a purple one... okay I'm lying. I don't know what colors they are. ahahahah No video though - I found a "woman's workout" dvd and thought about getting that, but I'll wait. I'm also thinking about a resistance ball Carol - hope you're feeling better, honey. And yes, BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY! I am looking forward to an additional loss. I'm a bit irregular and it is concerning. I think that has been the worst part about this band for me. The 1 scoop of metameucil isn't working, I think I'll up it to 2 scoops. I'm pooping, but it's hard and painful. (TMI, sorry) Either that or I'll just take a nightly swig of the MOM. I have a pain in my side, and I'm sure it's colo-rectal pain. Not enough motion in the ocean. bk - how's your hair? I need something new done to mine. I'm deciding whether to keep it natural or to process it. I'm also debating a cut. I may just leave it as is for now, and if/when it falls out do something drastic. And congrats on the 5 inches! Doesn't it feel great to visibly see a difference in inches, even when the scale is betraying you? I need to check and see when I measure again. As long as my thighs aren't any bigger, I'm happy. We need to go to Target today, but I really don't want to go outside. It's about 10 degrees out there. I am having that superbowl party after all. Who was it who mentioned the SB party? Whoever it was, I blame you. Claudia, I think? Including me and ds, there will be 6 adults and 2 kids so it should be quick and easy. I'm putting together a menu now - any suggestions? I'm going to count calories all week so that next week Sunday can be my splurge day. How's everyone else? StephC - I can eat this evening. I hope I've got restriction. Has your amount of restriction changed? I'm totally hoping that my belly cuts me off after 1/2 cup. Of course, I've never really had that much, typically at 2/3c. I'm done. Comparatively speaking, that's still not bad. I think I'm going to try a bbq chicken whip tonight. With cheese. Do we have a collective weight loss goal for Valentine's Day? It's 20 days away or something, right? I'm trying to lose 10 pounds by then. Is that insane? Probably, but I'm going for it. More water, more exercise, fewer excuses. I want to hit 250 by then. A solid 250. (which means 249.5) ahahaha I hear DS tearing up my living room - gotta fly! Nat
  3. Yes I did. I'm now 12 days post-op and have lost 6kg/13lb since then. I've felt really good since surgery, including the day of, with no gas pains, no nausea, and little restriction with liquids. And since about day 4 or 5, 3 BMs a day (a little TMI, but a lot of people suffer from constipation post-op). However, I was the only one on my floor like that - everyone else had one or more of the common issues. However, I do find that I am having more restrictions with liquids now, so I have to spread out my drinking and "meals" (still liquids) to be smaller but more constant throughout the day.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

So I spent the day at the hospital for my preop stuff. 7 am: chest cray, gallbladder ultrasound, blood work, urine work, ekg. 9-12: nutrition class at hospital. 1:15: nurse interview. 2-4: nutrition class at my surgeons office. It was a long day, but I learned a lot. It is also my 4th day of liquids and I am feeling cramps in my stomach, but over all ok. TMI: my BM's are weird. All my test result came out normal, so I am ready! QOTD: I would totally get together next summer with our group.

Teaching one special needs child can be as stressful as a class of 30! Good luck. It makes me sad that someone so young should be so angry--what went on in his life to make him that way. I hope the LB "sons" are all better now. All of us aunties worry. The show was fun. Six more performances to go--this coming weekend and next. The cast went out afterwards--I had a salad, PB twice, and then fine. I am going to the doc today. I wondered if I need a bit of an unfill. Sometimes, I can eat just fine! QUESTION: Can you be at a good fill and STILL PB occasionally? Or does a PB automatically mean too tight? Then I will see the Plastic Surg to check on my arms. He might want to do a revision on the scars--what does that mean?? I want him to know that I am not as happy with the breast lift as I thought I would be. I want PERKY! I paid for perky! Not that anyone, but Julie, saw them---TMI. How's that for my conclusion?

Meredith...great minds think alike. When I was posting to LauraK today the thought came over my mind about "posing" so that the extra skin would not be noticed. LOL. (TMI warning). Just be a princess on your back for the initial "induction". Gosh....not only do we support each other with our WLS concerns, we are relationship experts as well. Good thing none of us are prigs. I have always been a dog lover, Meredith. I grew up with a minimum of three dogs in the house. DH grew up in a family where there was a "farm dog". You just threw it the leftover crap from the table and never would ever think about buying dog food. He has been totally in love with the dogs I have brought home. This kills me to say this but the first dog I brought home, he took out in the grove of trees and shot it. Too much of a bother. And, if you think that didn't get me thinking that something was wrong with this man, you are correct. It's just the way they did it on the farm. Never took the time to nurture or train a dog. Dog acted up...dog was gone. A major sin in my book. Well, after that horrible incident and me a forgiving person, I decided that I would "teach" him how to love an animal. Right now he is in his recliner lap top and lap dog on his lap....100lb black lab. Once I showed him that dogs were human, he is sooooooooooooo in love with every dog he meets. Tanker is our "empty nest dog". I missed my boys so much when they left. Had quit my job after working since early teens and it was so lonesome out here on the farm. Heck, Tanker knows everything I say. We have conversations.

Sorta Figured that one out :tongue_smilie: PJ - Are you getting your protein - My hairdresser says it's lack of fat - my gf went on medifast so she got her protein but was lacking in fat and she lost tons of hair... So since I still get my fats (not as much but still include it in my diet) I agree cuz I haven't lost any and I have fine/thin hair... I remember asking my doc about this and he said they really don't know why - but it will come back... Just make sure you get your protein and some fats in your food daily and the fat & Water helps with the TMI problems too. I bought a scale that give you amount of calorie - protein - carbs - fats in whatever you were weighing - you put in what you are weighting - cat fish raw - it would show the oz - protein - calories etc - I only counted protein & calories - I have never counted anything else (carb/fats etc) - I got it at bed bath & beyond - it was $100 but well worth it - I still pull it out when I have Pasta.. Also - you can buy glad containers that are 1/2 cup - that's what I would use to measure rice - I cook up a pot of rice then put it in the container and wala I have my rice for the week in portion sizes. I also bought 1 cup size and that's what I use to put up my one pot wonders that I take to work for lunch each week - no guessing - they are in the one cup container - just throw them in a bag and I have lunch for a week I weighed and measured for about the first 4-6 months - by then you have learned correct portion sizes by eye ball and pretty much know how many grms of pt and calories are in what you are eating and I logged my calories & protein and exercise for the 1st yr. (well I still track exercise & keep mental tabs on what I am eating - but will forget a bite of this or that very easliy - that's why I really try and stick with planned meals & snacks) Yep you need to join curves or a gym that's close and convient to your house or work so that you can go right after work at least 4 times a week. Yes dinner can wait for 30 minutes or an hour - this is about you - and we need exercise in our lives to be healthy - just losing the weight isn't going to make you 100 % healthy you gotta work those muscles - get that blood flowing - strenghty your core muscles - as we get older we lose more muscle this is why old pple fall and break hips - this is why they use walker - they have no muscles cuz they get no exercise... I was reading an article in a magazine - skinny obese - yep they are skinny but got fat hiding inside cuz they don't exercise.. Something to that effect - Januarys Self Magazine.. When was your last fill - August - why so long between - do you have restriction??? I really really beleive in weighing, measuring your foods as a learning tool - you don't have to do this for the rest of your life - but you do need to learn what a correct portion size is - you need to know how many calories are in what you are eating - how are you going to keep the weight off if you don't - I have a friend at work though she was eating healthy had 3 chicken thights from el pollo loco (grilled chicken) and they arent that big - I said GF you had about 900 calories in those thights - pluse the bean 130 - that's was just for dinner that truly a days worth of calories in just one meal  and I was just guessimating (this part of my brain still remembers calories) on the calories and when I looked it up to verify - I was correct - so it's important to know what you are putting in your mouth.... It's all about calories in vs calories out to lose the weight - the band will restriction portions of hard Proteins - but not slider foods or make your food choices ( healthy vs unhealthy).. I never liked Abba and was told the movie was a musical with Abba so I won't watch - It looks like a cute movie (story line) so if they come out with nonmusical verison I might watch I might be a Cali girl - but I am a Cowboy Fan... My DS Dad was a Pearson and I started watch cowboys when they had Drew & Preston Pearson - Infact my DS wanted GS to be Joe Pearson the 4th - I said hell no we have enought joe pearsons (him & his dad) need a new name - so one night I come home and was told babys name would be Andrew Pearson - (drew pearson) so in away he is named after the cowboys !!!! Charlene - Yep I bought some navy & pinto beans yesterday perfect foods for the cold weather...

OMG, Laura, your poor little guy.... But he does look as though he made it through in good shape.... It will probably bother him when it starts to itch!!!! Glad you will be coming home soon... You all need the routine again... Take care Apples, sorry about the ice... We are getting snow here, very wet stuff..... the roads are awful, says my brother who just came home from Bismarck.... I'm content to stay in and veg out for the night... Mimi was better today, but after falling asleep for a much needed nap she started coughing.. I had her propped up, but once she started it kept on until she threw up all the phlegm that must catch in the back of her throat... Then she starts gagging and it all comes.. she had green beans in her hair and all over my couch... I know........TMI........... I got her in the tub and all the blankets and clothes in the washer and all was well after she quit coughing... DD just called to say she fell asleep sitting up in the chair and was going to leave her in hopes that mess won't happen again.... Poor baby... Lori, I understand about not knowing if you can go back and pick up old friendships... People move on and you lose some of your connections... But you'll make new ones, too...... It will all work out I'm sure.... Linda, oh, if you could only make it to FL I would be so happy... Glad to hear you may at least try.... I'm keeping my fingers crossed..... You are just an exercising dynamo..... good for you... Arlene, congrats on the new addition.... You'll have a job like mine then..... Lots of work, no pay, many benifits..... It's a good way to spend the day... especially when they are little..... DH went out to move snow from in front of the door, but he's fighting a losing battle.... Apples, I'm putting off getting my hair colored and such till closer to time for FL, too.... Just be careful on the shoulder...... you can get pulled down pretty easy... but you farm girls are tough!!!!!! I used to be one...... I'm kind of wussy anymore.... DH takes good care of me..... I have renewed drama on the family front again... Mother and brothers.... Just when I think it may fade inot the background something happens to stir it all up again... One brother pulled a fast one with mother a couple days ago and I'd like to ring his neck... Now the rest are all stirred up and things are about ready to blow sky high..... I'm thinking of coming to FL early and staying longer!!!!!!! How much room do you have in the pick-up again, Apples????? I'll sit with the dog!!!! Well DH is back again and it's time to spend some quiet time, just us.... It stays pretty busy around here most of the time and we get little time to ourselves... Just nice to sit and be still together.... Talk to you all later... Julie

First of all...welcome to the couple of newbies I came across while catching up on the pages and pages of posts. Have been away from the computer since last Thurs. Cannot wait till we have wireless service available at our lake place. Hopefully next year. Had planned on coming home on Monday morning. Got hit by the flu at 4am on Monday morning. DH had gone home Sunday afternoon. A couple of our little visiters from the lake had the flu last week and one had a very snotty cold. Of course, we both spent a lot of time playing with them over the weekend. I got the flu and DH got the snotty cold. There was no way I could drive home till today. Did not throw up but butt was attached to the toilet (tmi) for over 24 hours. Also had extreme dizziness. Completely sapped me. Was not easy trying to get the calories in but forced myself. Still weak and shaky but much better. I was just bragging last week that I NEVER get a virus. Not saying that again! I did think of you all and worried that you guys would be worried that I wasn't posting. Too many posts to respond to...was going to try. Just want you all to know that I read them all but I'm too lazy to respond, catching up on laundry, cooking, etc. Surprised DH with a chocolate/strawberry cheesecake that I made this morning. You wouldn't think something so simple could produce such a big smile and big hug. Sharon...so happy you have your DD back in your lives and Eli's life. Wishing for her a LONG and HAPPY recovery. Cheri...sorry to hear of your job worries. Hoping for you that your job is yours again next year. Great.....cannot wait to see photos of you in your MOB dress. I am sure you will be beautiful. Have a great time on your camping trip. A little destressing and enjoying nature. Laura...hope gyn can get to the bottom of your troubles. Would be great if you did not have to have such painful monthlys. Cute photos of Nelson. Good going on putting aside your feelings with your "friend" for the sake of Nelson and his buddy. Phyll....good to see that you are off and running and looking forward to getting down south again. Meredith....you rock! Don't know how you keep up with everything and still stay focused on your lapband life. Yep....condiments can have so many hidden calories. When I was in the weight loss stage, I used a lot of chunky salsa for dressings....mixed it with a little FF sour cream. I know I have missed responding to most of you....sorry. Need to run and catch up. DH is sooooo good about keeping everything perfect around the house while I run off and play. Plan on heading back to lake in the morning. Have a friend that is coming that is going through a "surprise" separation. Didn't see it coming and she needs me for support for a couple of days. Will talk to you all later.

Forgot....Happy Belated Anniversary, Julie. Happy to hear that you and hubby had a nice time. Our 30th is in Nov. I swear that time just flew by or someone stole them from us. We still think the other is just adorable and (tmi) can't keep our hands off each other. But, we are not that couple that is out in public that needs to get a room.

Damned cold around the campfire tonight. Had a tough time concentrating on the conversation. Was thinking about the past weekend and my lifetime friends. It went so quickly and thoroughly enjoyed our time together. Only thing better would be? You could all finish that sentence? Yep, to have ALL of you with us. There was great anticipation on my part about meeting my friends. What I took away from it was...the friends you draw to online are no different to the friends you draw to in person. No surprises with my friends I have known for the last 18 months or so online. Julie, I and Laura (and my nephew Nelson) were gifted with about 24 extra hours together due to the DFW weather. We had our fingers crossed in hopes that those hours could have been spent with Janet and Eva and Lori also....but it gave us some time to bond. We were lucky enough to visit with sweet Jessica and her VERY patient DH. This weekend was a very special time and I will carry the memory for a lifetime. Thank you..But, I have to say...I met you all face to face. But, I KNEW you and loved you b/4 I met you. And, I also want to add....even though I did not have the opportunity to meet all of you....I KNEW you and loved you b/4 I met you. You make me smile... I will catch up with all of you tomorrow. I am going to go put on my sleazy Valentine teddy (yes, Eva...stopped at Beulls Outlet on the way home. Who knew? $10.99. Underwire teddy with hearts). TMI...sorry. Now just gotta peal the dog off of me. He's been pasted to momma from the minute I drove in.

I guess all of us are getting a piece of that storm. We had t-storms today and the front should move in tomorrow. Hey, I told the dr. how I would get stuck because of the gas on my stomach. She said to try taking Gas-x before I eat. So, before we went out to eat tonight I chewed a gas-x, and I was able to burp between bites and not get stuck......Probably TMI, but I thought I would share.

Hey everyone, Just wanted to say I am here. Boss is still a witch but hanging in there she has been gone for 3 days in person anyway bit not in email. Right now I am trying to remember to drink all my water and no caffeine ( which is totally hard to do) since I still have UTI symptoms. So the Dr got my culture back and It had no bad bacteria growing but my pee test still showed a UTI. She says it looked worse than the first test. Alot of white blood cells and traces of something else which by all indications means I have a UTI still. However since the culture came back negatice she decided to not put me on a 3rd round of antibotics and see how I feel next week after water logging myself and no caffeine. I am drinking decaf in the morning which stinks and I ended up take a goodies powder today cause my head pounded so bad and I really could not leave work. The Dr said if I start feeling bad to call her and she will bring straigten for some kind of scrap test in the girly area. She this I could have some kind of vaginal thing that shows up as the same symtoms as a UTI. I know TMI. But I felt I needed to share and I figured enough woman on this board would know how this felt.

Hi gang! I have been miserable all day. You see, I started on real food friday. I always take Miralax , but when I started the shakes I stopped because of all the fiber. Well, I forgot to take the Miralax. Oops, then last night I took a prescription laxative....not good. Needless to say.....I am sitting on donut cushion. lol I know TMI, but I don't want y'all to make the mistake I did. I couldn't even go weigh in. Okay, nough said. Apples have a good time.....you will be missed. Great, Pictures please!

    May 2007 Banders

I've found TOM is responsible for most of my PB experiences. It starts a couple days before TOM...it's frustrating, but the up side is it's like an early warning system that TOM will arrive soon. I was chatting with a band friend the other day and was frustrated because I had been having trouble with PB the last couple days and the scale was stuck, it was such a DUH moment, as it came out of my mouth I figured it out. Aside form that, a little hot water bofore eating and things go down quite well. Sorry for the TMI to all you guys out there, but it's a fact of life for us gal-banders Sue

    How about some NSVs!?!?

It's the little things that count! I can now: -cross my legs. Don't do it often because it doesn't feel natural yet. :-) -put on socks without being a contortionist to bring my feet up high enough to get then on, -bend over and tie my shoes! -walk up and down stairs instead of taking the elevator Might be a little TMI on this one, but I can wipe front to back now and haven't been able to do that in years. Finally feeling better after problems with dehydration and will start walking again. Life is getting better every day!

    How about some NSVs!?!?

This may be TMI, but I was in the shower and noticed when I washed my "girly parts", not only did I not have to stretch down and around my big belly, but I was standing straight up and was able to reach the whole way back! Holy crap! Can't wait to show my fiancé this new skill! haha

    OCTOBER 2014

@Shadow427--I'm so excited for you to rent a bike!! Whoohoo!! I agree, What a difference a year makes! @Luna222--How frustrating!! I think a call to your surgeon's office would be in order. Just to see if they have any insight as to why you might be stalled. Do you keep a food journal? Maybe they can take a look at it and offer some suggestions. I've been stuck at 177/178 for going on 3 weeks now I think. Pretty sure if I could "go to the bathroom"....(Sorry, TMI) I might lose a few!! @Bronxmerci--So glad you're doing so well! Great job on your loss! And I am quite impressed you're not falling for your son's dad's smooth attempts at getting you back! You're a strong woman!!
  21. Hello, 9 days post op and just started pureed foods. I was given a list of things that are allowed and serving size. I stayed to that list, even made a ricotta bake ( recipe was attached). And I listen to my tummy, stopping when I was full (not even a fourth of a serving), so basically suffered all last night from gas!!! It was terrible. Thought I had pulled something in my tummy. This morning, when I finally passed gas (sorry tmi) felt much better. Thought I'd see if this is normal. Now I'm going to pay more attention to how I eat to help prevent the bubbles getting in there.

    OCTOBER 2014

My meal plan Tuesday B- hard boiled egg L- leafy romaine with grilled chicken, tomato, cucumber, shredded cabbage, 1 Tbs honey mustard dressing (about 1/2 cup of the salad) S- juiced Apple, orange, spinach, celery D- broiled chx breast (2oz) Mediterranean veggies (1/4 cup) didn't finish all of either items. 11 weeks post gastric bypass My belly is BIG time bloated tonight! Not feeling gassy or sick. Just look like I'm really pregnant!??? Too many veggies? Time of month? TMI alert....I've had 3 bowel movements in the last 24 hours!! Whoohoo!

    OCTOBER 2014

@dc0520--Nah, not TMI for me. That sounds horrible!!! Ouch! That's great no implants would be necessary. Ummm, Yeah, I'm 42. I don't need youthfull fullness, I'd just like them out of my arm pits when I lay down, haha!! I haven't had rashes since my surgery, but I might start trying the trick someone mentioned on here, just to get some stuff documented. Or if I check into just a lift and it's a reasonable cost, just pay for it out of pocket. We'll see I guess! Yeah, I'm supposed to get more like 60-80g of Protein, but I have a really hard time eating more than I am right now! It's odd having that issue now, LOL! My PA said I could supplement with Protein shakes, but they fill me up SO much that I don't want any meals after that. Hard to find that balance!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Not sure if I should get another fil on Friday or not. I have 5cc in my APS band and I have lost 7 pounds in the past 2 weeks....4 of which were re-gain from previous loss b4 restriction. I can still eat more at a sitting than many I have read about, but I do have to be careful about how quickly i eat and being mindful about chewing etc. If I cancel my appt and re-schedule, I know I won't be able to get in again for another 4-6 wks. If I go and decide not to fill, they will put me in sooner....I guess I will see how this week goes. My clothes are really getting too big finally I feel a difference. People are beginning to notice, but mostly ask if I have changed my hair. Sort of like they know something is different, but not sure what it is. I have been having some horrible lower abdominal pain that radiates to my left buttock...I really think it's gas, but also having some TMI..........icky BM issues..... I am waiting for some results from bloodwork and ......samples....yuck. Which reminds me I really need to find a bariatric friendly local GP. I went back to my original GP whom I left because he would not write a letter of support for the surgery. I found a great doctor, but she's in Manattan....close to my surgeon...but hours away from me. Not convienient. When I went back to my GP with GI complaints, he of course blamed the whole thing on "dumping syndroms associated with what you have chosen to have done to your stomach and intestines." Trust me I tried explaining the surgery....but he would not listen. Eventually he decided to do some tests to make sure it was not anything else..... Really need a new doctor. Christine
  25. So I'm one week post op and I really haven't had a bowel movement. I sat on the toilet on Monday but nothing really (sorry for the TMI). So my question is has anyone else had this issue. I figured that I didn't really have to go because I've been only drinking liquids....
