    Fun while shopping...

Great NSV, I can hear you smiling all the way in SC!!!!! Mimi
  2. What a week! Well I have had an exhausting week! I went back to work on Monday! OH BOY! I have so much catching up to do (Paperwork)! I must tell you how nice it is though; I went back to work and the folks (developmentally/intellectally challenged) were so happy to see me! They showered me with hugs and kisses! It made me feel so good to know I make that much of an impact on their lives! I am so happy to get back into routine and I missed work so much! It is just great to be back! So let's get to business! This pic over here on the left is me last week! I took this pic and was amazed at what I saw! I was looking at this pic and feeling proud of all the things I went through to get to this point! Going through everything I did... it was a HUGE eye opener! It really makes you cherish life for what it is worth! I went to the Lung Dr. this week! I have a major NON scale VICTORY (NSV)... I am no longer on my inhalers for Asthma! This is HUGE! HUGE!!! My numbers are excellent! My Dr. could tell I was exercising cause my pulse and blood pressure were much lower than they ever had been! I am so much HEALTHIER! That is all I wanted out of all this! To be Healthy! Guess what.... I AM! I must tell you how much I have missed "FOOD"! I am stickin to my healthy lifestyle though and making good choices! I am actually eating a meal! Not a few bites; A MEAL! I am still trying to stear clear of the Carbs!!! Those are my worst enemy! Cause I love them oh so much! I have been walking! EVERY DAY I walk! I am now up to 3 miles a day! It takes me about 45 minutes to walk! But boy it feels GREAT! I love the rush it gives me; the way I feel after! It really makes me proud to know I can walk 3 miles! Then I come home and do a bit of resistance bands for some toning! I am getting into a great workout routine! This week was my first week really doing this on my own again! Back to Weight Watchers! So I really thought I would have gained because of the amount of food I had been eating! I lost .6 this week! I keep thinking to myself it is better than NOTHING!!! But I guess because I was so used to the big weight losses every week, I was a bit bummed! I feel good though! I am proud of myself! A total of 89.4!! Wooo Hooo Well I hope everyone is doing well! I have been so busy I am really falling behind on blogging! I haven't read blogs in about a week! Shame on me! Well till next time! Take care and stay healthy! ~Mandy

    Nsv!

Im the same way, I still will choose sizes that are too big because there is no way I fit into size 8 pants or a medium (sometimes a small) top. Its unreal. Its ok though because its like a new NSV every time I actually do fit into the tiny clothes

    Love those NSVs!!!
  9. I've been a little reserved over the whole dreaded "3 week stall" and so I am trying to encourage myself. This is what occurred to me: 1) I haven't weighed in 3 days (YAY for me) Does that count as a NSV or is it an anti-NSV? lol 2) I have successfully gotten ALL my Protein in since the day I started Protein drinks and am now able to do it with only 1 Protein shake per day They aint fancy, but I'll take 'em!

    Three weeks in

I'm trying to train myself off the scale -- it makes me crazy sometimes. A small gain or a plateau can be so frustrating even though I know it's fine and that I'm probably losing inches, fitting into jeans that were tight before, etc. Those are important things to look out for......the Non-Scale Victories, NSVs. You are doing beautifully -- tell yourself that every day because it is true!
  11. NSV #1: Hahaha, Wednesday night I was walking from work to the gym about 3 blocks away and was wearing my leggings and a Tshirt, damned if I didn't get a freaking cat whistle. LOL Lets just say that made the workout just a little bit more easy that night. NSV #2: I was waiting outside the office building last night for my friend to pick me up for dinner and decided to touch up my make up, compact mirrior in hand and appling my lip gloss, I look up and in a passing car a man was looking at me, smiled and gave me a thumbs up. LOL definately made me smile.
  12. Hi. I recently hit a major plateau and was looking for something to feel good about/keep me motivated/celebrate, since the numbers on the scale were certainly not moving. I remembered that I had taken my measurements when I began my journey. I dug out the card where I had written them down and measured again. (bust, waist, hips, thighs, calves, neck, and upper arms). I had lost a total of 28.75 inches. Suddenly I felt better. If you are new and have not measured yourself - do it. Good luck to anyone who is just beginning this wonderful process!!! Becky
  13. I've come crashing down to earth with a miserable head cold that has turned bacterial and resulted in ear infections this week. Already had three days off work, haven't been able to ride or go dancing But I've just realised I have also had a massive NSV! I track my food and exercise on myfitnesspal.com which helps keep me on track with both. But it has taken several days of this head cold for me to realise that I automatically adjusted my food down because I wasn't exercising. Normally I would have continued eating "normally" and wondered why my weight was always going up. Finally it seems as though my head is understanding the relationship between food, exercise and weight!
  14. Ah, when I broke my ankle last year I couldn't use the crutches for that exact reason. It was so depressing. I can't even imagine how many things in my life will change after surgery. It is the little things. Congrats on the NSV!
  15. Teachamy

    YUP! A True Story!

Yes. A definite NSV. And I would share a picture with her from a year and a half ago. It might help her to know that we're all in this together. Fighting our wars against society's expectations and our own inner battles.

OMG I can't believe this NSV!!

That's wonderful Bandacat, and a profound change! I agree--perceptions changing are indeed among the best NSVs that come with the banded life. Keep it going, you're a winner!
  17. Miss Pearlie has done an outstanding job in such a short amount of time. I've just had the most romantic weekend and I'm going on pure adrenaline and butterflies today since I only slept for 2 hours last night. Anyway...I can wear the prettiest clothes and it's fun coming up with new combinations to wear them, so for the first time in a very long time I treated myself to a shopping spree on Saturday morning. I came back with clothes that I think I love more than any I've ever had and I can't wait to wear them - something I haven't felt since planning for the first day of school during senior high. And - a guy that I've known for 4 years is looking like he's going to shape up to be a great companion for me. He lives in a neighboring state, but has family (who really like me and have urged him to move back just for me for at least 3 of those years) that he visits often in Houston; he recently accepted a new job and can visit every other weekend now. Call it a hunch, but I can see him moving back to Houston within the next year - I can't see things getting anything but better from here. He is a country gentleman, he's romantic, he loves animals, he's great with kids, has high morals and ethics and he's a good person...a benefit of knowing him for so long before getting to this point. He was attracted and attractive to me before I lost weight, so the doubt about "would he want me if I was the same weight as before" isn't something I have to be concerned about. Another bonus. It's funny...he looks a lot like an actor I had a crush on and his personality matches a character that the actor played in one of my favorite movies (Allen Payne, Jason's Lyric). What's more is that I love the way people look at us, we catch strangers staring and smiling at us and that is so different because before the weight loss, I didn't think we "matched" like he was too attractive to be with me - I know, I know, self esteem, yada yada yada...but now, I don't feel that way and in his own way he "shows me off" when we go out. I never thought I'd be arm candy. LOL Ok...all of this might have been TMI, but I haven't been in love with anyone in more than 14 years - this is an amazing development and I want to share it with the world.
  18. Great NSV, you desrve all the fun and love you get!

    NSVs!

I had two this weekend-I flew on Friday night and not only could I buckle the seatbelt, I had to significantly tighten it. And there was room in the seat. I used to be squeezed in and had to hide that the seatbelt wouldn't fasten because I did not want to ask for an extension... I went shopping today and bought myself some new workout clothes-in the "ladies" section, not the plus size. I was sleeved on October 9 and have lost 58 pounds. I am happy with my loss today, but am in a stall so it was great to have some other signs that I am making progress!

    NSV for Valentine's Day

    Congrats, I Love NSVs!
  21. I'm almost choked up here reading your WONDERFUL NSV! I hope that someday I am also able to do that. You are one of the people here that I find most inspiring and I am so happy for you that you've gotten to this point. CONGRATS!!!
  22. There was an additive to add to the wash to shrink clothes a few sizes. I used to loath the dryer tightening jeans and sweaters. Now I leave them in extra and now my sweaters look like dresses lol. I started almost a year ago to date and down 110lbs including presurgery loss. I am currently cycling down through my sizes and about 2 months away from getting into my favorite clothes in those sizes. Another nsv is getting into my rings I havent worn in 5yrs ???????????????????????????????????? Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Huge NSV.

Yesterday my girlfriend Angie gave me some before and after pictures. I believe the first picture was when I was at 308 prior to my preop diet . I was banded at 282. Anyway, long story short. What amazed me most is what a 90 lbs difference makes. I was huge in the pictures . A size 24 I believe. I am now a size 18 at 5'8" tall. I can't believe the difference!
  24. As I rode my back today I was feeling self conscious about my stomach area and loose skin on my arms,,, I know, I know. However the thing that struck me as I rode through the park this TOTALLY built man was there with his kids there and he did the acknowledgment nod,, like I accept you are riding for your health and working out. Totally cool!
  25. So, I've been MIA for the last 10 days or so because I went on a vacation. It was wonderful! I started out by driving to Myrtle Beach, SC to see my son and his girlfriend. We had a terrific time except that my son was totally taken aback by how little I eat. Both told me that I look fantastic, which is always nice to hear! I hit Planet Fitness (my gym) up there 4 times and it was a blast to workout in the "same" gym, even though the layout was a little different than my home facility. For anyone who is interested, it certainly seemed that there were more tourists than "home" members in there every time I went. I left SC to drive to Kentucky, to a cousin's house up there. She lives in a "holler" and her house is 10 miles back into the woods. She's surrounded by 1,000 Amish-owned acres and her nearest neighbors are all Amish families. I met the Amish family from across the street and they were as fascinated by the "Florida woman" as I was by the "Amish people". Beautiful people, literally the salt of the earth and they have a symbiotic relationship with my Kentucky cousin who I was visiting. The Amish provided a good portion of the produce for our family reunion dinner, including wonderfully sweet tomatoes and corn! Yum! Those family members who have seen me in the last few years spent a lot of time complimenting me on my weight loss, although I can still see every ounce that I need to lose. I kept up with everyone else, including my cousin's 20-something son and his wife, plus my cousin's three grandkids under 3 years old. I didn't do much "exercise" while in Kentucky. No branches of my gym in their small coal-mining town, but I did a lot of walking around the property and got to dig through tons of old family pictures. It was a blast to share memories of departed family members with them all. My scale tonight shows that I gained 3 pounds while I was on vacation, but I'm back at the gym and back on my strict plan tomorrow morning. I kept up with my Water and Protein goals while I was gone, but I indulged in biscuits and gravy one morning and I did some drinking Saturday evening with the family. I don't regret one bite or drink or one minute of the time I spent with them all! So, now I'm home, laundry done, clothes put away, car cleaned out and I'm back to work in the morning. I've missed the gym, though, so I'll be there by 7 am. I'm eager to get moving again! Oh, yes, two NSV's on this trip. The first is that I had the energy to drive a grand total of 30 hours without feeling sleepy. The second is that a distant cousin confessed that they have had a crush on me since I was a girl, and that they think I look better now than I did then!
