Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
FluffyChix replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Usually bone broth with some kind of fat in it. Then wait. Then a little avocado. Then a little walnuts or almonds but that's only with a long fast like 22-24 hours. -

Attempt # 2 at fasting today. I asked this question before but didn't really get answers. What do you eat when you break your fast in order to avoid dumping Sent from my SM-G950U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -

I had my surgery there on January 6th with the fast track program. I liked them a lot, actually. Very patient and they work with you. I paid out of pocket, so it was about $15,000, but it included everything. I also had Dr. Sakata, and she did a wonderful job. I'm healing very well with very little pain. I like the fact that it is outpatient, but you NEED to make sure you have a person with you. They'll provide transport and such, but having someone there to help you get up and down to walk afterwards is really good idea. Also, the vitamins they have on their shelves are a smidge cheaper than you can buy most anywhere else, too lol. -

I found this information during my research. I plan on adopting it as my mantra because one of the reasons I got where I am at is by eating to fast. It is the 20-20-20 rule. Aim to eat 20 mouthful of food over an20 minute period, chewing each mouthful 20 times, putting down utensils between each mouthful. https://www.bariatriccookery.com/202020-rule/

Has anyone made it past the 6 month stall!???
Miss Liss replied to Fazzini Bee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm actually 9 months out but started stalling at 6 months out. I've only lost 6lbs since October! I've just started intermittent fasting this week and am hoping it helps to get things started again. I also saw something about a "pouch reset". What does that consist of? Willing to try anything at this point! I still have 30lbs to go before I reach my 100lb weight loss and only have 3 months to do it 😕 -
Losing More By Eating More
Uomograsso replied to GradyCat's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't had surgery yet, but I have been dieting since July 2019 as my surgeon wanted me to get my BMI down to 50 before surgery. I started at trying to stay at or under 2400 calories per day and as I lost weight I dropped it to 2000 per day. After about 3 months I was comfortable on 1600 calories a day. I also noticed that if I stalled or even wasn't stalling that if I had a couple of days closer to my upper limits and then cranked it back down to lower I had my best week of weight loss. I haven't done much research but I think this is labelled as a calorie confusion diet or metabolic confusion diet. This is where you alternate between high calorie and low calorie days. I also did 16:8 intermittent fasting. Your body thinks it is starving on the lower calories and then you bump your metabolism back up with high calorie day. -
Tank is full - Also i was eating to fast - Try slowing down with your food intake. They have guidelines to speed of eating but those are just that guidelines, for me i have to eat much slower to avoid the gas that causes burping. As you swallow food you are also taking in air, so slower eating = less air

How are my fellow December surgeries doing?
cajunredpanda replied to lys's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well, I had my first food "rejection." I ate an egg bite I baked in the oven for dinner. Within a minute after eating I was puking in the sink. I felt so sick afterward that I went to bed early. I was able to eat an egg bite earlier that day so I don't know if it was because it was cold, I ate too fast, or what. I usually make my egg bites in the Instant Pot but I derped and poured water into the contraption when the cooking pot wasn't in it. Gotta test it out in a few days after letting it dry. The oven egg bites were firmer than the IP ones. I'll have to experiment. (Though I'm holding off for now.) I saw my nurse practitioner yesterday. She advised me that bowel movements every two days is normal since we're eating far less, but if it's going on for four days or more I need a laxative or enema. I'm currently drinking magnesium citrate to clean me out completely (her instructions). After that, every couple days I should drink smooth tea or milk of magnesia on top of my daily stool softeners and liquid intake. If I don't poop for longer than a few days again, then it's enema time. I need to get both of those. We won't use Benefiber for the time being. Let's see how it works. If nothing works after a period of time, including probiotics, then I'm going to be prescribed something. I had IBS-D before surgery so I was very rarely constipated. I haven't been this constipated since I went to a Girl Scout camp and didn't poop for days because I was scared of the outhouses lol It's just awful, isn't it? Many of them tend to be the size of my fist or a soda can. My routine is a little like yours. I tend to drink a shake for breakfast, half a tilapia fillet or deli roll ups plus 1 oz veg for lunch, and turkey meatballs (w/ or w/o 1 oz veg) for dinner. I may have a cheese stick, peanut butter, or unsweetened applesauce for a snack. (I'm supposed to get up to 5-6 small meals/snacks a day.) Are you incorporating fruits or veggies at all into your diet? Or were you advised to? My dietitian wants us to eat soft fruits and vegetables with our meals starting with puree stage. They're good carbs. It is good that your measurements are going down. It shows that the process is still working. Two or three pounds is also very good weight loss. (I'm averaging three and four pounds a week at the moment). You appear closer to your goal so it will slow down as it gets there as well. Congratulations! I just got cleared to reintroduce strength training yesterday. Don't wanna lose muscle if I can help it. -
Females over 40, how "fast' did you lose with RNY?
jubug09 replied to Panda333's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Definitely interested in this thread. My rny is next week and I've also wondered about how fast you lose. I started at 330 (highest was 376 years ago) three weeks ago. I'm at 310 now so 20 lbs down on liquid diet. I'm also 42 and about 5'3" tall. I worry about loose skin simply because I already have some. But I worry more about not ever being able to do things I want to do. Sent from my moto g(6) (XT1925DL) using BariatricPal mobile app -
Has anyone made it past the 6 month stall!???
AZhiker replied to Fazzini Bee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also stalled at 6 months - about 10 pounds from my goal weight. I plugged into some Intermittent Fasting and it dropped right off. I was below goal a month later. -
Came home today after long day of work, hungry and tired. Right there in front of my eyes were fried falafel balls. I ate 4 . I feel bad for doing so. On top of that I had some dumping about an hour later. Hopefully a run on the treadmill will make me feel better. One of these days I gotta figure out which foods I can grab and be guilt free afterwards. You live and you learn!!! I will be attempting fast #2 tomorrow. Lots of luck needed. Has anyone made it past the 6 month stall!???
charmed4 replied to Fazzini Bee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Never heard of a 6 month stall however changing up routine. Intermittent fasting. Pouch reset. Changing up activity level....all helps. I personally don't believe in this whole stall thing. Our bodies adapt to our routine and if we still need to lose we adjust accordingly. -
So, I've experienced quite a few NSVs as of recent. I can cross my legs (not super comfortably yet, but hey); I'm in a size 14/16, down from a 26; and I see my collarbones. Yay! 2 1/2 months out - 50 lbs lost post surgery and an additional 54 lbs was lost before (on my own, July 2019). I'm walking fast and exercising amazingly. This, all from the woman who got winded walking down the block to her car. Life is good!

Ugh... side effects of rapid weight loss
momof3_angels posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh my. So, a few weeks ago I was getting very dizzy some days because I wasn't getting all of my fluids on most days. I knew I was somewhat dehydrated, but no matter what I did I couldn't get in enough fluids. Had an "attempted" medical procedure and convinced them to give me the full liter of fluids. Felt much better. We repeated this 2 weeks later when I had the actual surgery for the same (obgyn) problem. Felt better again. Then sometime a couple weeks ago... I was REALLY dizzy at work. Forced myself to drink even more fluids. The more I drank, the better I felt. Since then, I have been getting at least 60 ounces of fluid every day which is a vast improvement. Felt MUCH better. Fast forward to yesterday. totally dizzy. But this time I knew it wasn't fluids, it was my blood pressure. It was a different kind of dizzy that I had experienced before. See... I have never had high blood pressure, but I do take a "blood pressure" medication for my tachycardia (fast heart beat). I have taken a low dose beta blocker for years for my fast heart rate. My blood pressure has been a "low normal" for my entire life (however was creeping a little higher int he last year i was obese). After surgery, my blood pressure returned to low normal for me. I don't normally take my blood pressure before I take my medication. Never really had to as it rarely affects my blood pressure. Even when it does, I can FEEL when it does and I know when to monitor my blood pressure. I know my body very well. Well, yesterday it definitely did affect my blood pressure, and boy was I dizzy! This dizziness was way different than my dehydration dizziness and I knew it. I was busy at work, so didn't take my blood pressure until many hours later (when I was no longer dizzy) and it was 90/46, which makes me wonder how low it had been in the AM when I felt like total crap. Needless to say, today I took my blood pressure and skipped my beta blocker. My blood pressure was 94/64. Looks like I will have to suffer from my tachycardia for a bit while my blood pressure stabilizes, but I hate having to do that! I am so much more active when I take it. And no worries... I called my cardiologist and scheduled an appointment - but he can't see me for a few weeks. Doesn't matter... I know what he is going to say anyway! Days when my blood pressure is lower I need to skip my medication. Days when it is borderline I can take a half dose. But I am doing everything else, and there is no other medication he wants to try. Boo! Thankfully, my tachycardia isn't as bad as it could be... my night time heart rate has actually gone down and my day time heart rate isn't as fast as it used to be, but still fast. I think all of this will improve after my body stabilizes from my rapid weight loss. Time for a stall. My body needs it! -
I eat fruit, not daily, but when it's there I eat it. Meaning, I don't generally buy a lot of fresh fruit. I just can't eat it fast enough before it goes bad. My portions are quite small. EX: I can usually only get in about half an apple. But, I haven't had a problem with any fruit I've tried.

January 2020 Surgery Date
sarahSingh91 replied to Krimsonbutterflies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have surgery tomorrow. I am scheduled for the afternoon. I wish it was for the morning. I am to report to surgery at 3pm. They said they may call me in early. I am packing tonight. Cleaning house again today. Washing sheets. Our 4 month old is also staying in the hospital with us so I am packing for him also. I have been on an all clear liquid diet for 48 hours and OMG it has cleaned me out!!! I also have a really bad headache tonight. We also got surprise guest that said they will be passing through either tonight or early morning :/ I don’t want to be rude but I hope they make there visit fast. I have kept my surgery private. So yea just a little nervous for surgery this is my first surgery and I just don’t know what to expect. Good luck everyone. I will try to update or answer any questions after surgery once I can wake up properly. -
I contacted my Team for professional advice during my stalls. In the end I switched some of my foods around, drank more water, played around with intermittent fasting and let the surgery work

January 2020 Surgery Date
rene50 replied to Krimsonbutterflies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to all the January bunch who have surgery this week! I can't wait to hear how everyone is doing. ❤️ My surgery is still 2 weeks away, so I started my pre-op diet today which is much, much milder than most of the pre-op diets I've read about on here. My diet includes small, healthy, high protein, low fat meals, no high- sugar fruits, refined carbs, sodas, etc., then fasting after 8pm the day before surgery. It's interesting how doctors have so many different guidelines! Congrats Jeslpayn on losing 10 lbs in 2 weeks! 😊 -
1.5 years out & still throwing up?
Yaya replied to SparklyInNOut's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 7 years out, and chicken will often do this to me. So will ground turkey if it's too dry. I relate to the brick feeling with protein (if I'm eating out with people, I'm usually done after about 4 bites, and they wonder if my food was no good!) and unfortunately carbs go down no problem. I can usually tell when it's coming, as I can feel saliva build up fast in my mouth, and it's really salty. I know I better start heading for the sink! Sometimes, just spitting out the saliva as it comes helps and I don't regurgitate. And it is regurgitation, not vomiting. It's not fun, but it's not all the time, maybe a couple of times a year now. I can handle that. -
Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
LaLaDee replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
@heycrystal2052 I’m doing something similar to you. The 16:8 intermittent fasting protocol. My eating window is also between 12 and 8. I only started on 1 January. I’m dealing with a lot of regain (my surgery was more than 2 years ago). I haven’t given myself a calories allowance, but I am tracking on MyFitnessPal so I do not know where I’m at roughly. I’m just trying to eat 2 healthy meals. The odd snack too if I’m hungry. I’ve lost about 4kg/9lbs but that’s likely to be water weight from Christmas indulgences. I agree that it feels a bit tricky. I suspect other people on this thread will have more helpful advice. I’m trying to plan and meal prep to limit my ability to mess up. I am also concerned because my skin has broken out - pimples everywhere. I’m not sure if it’s stress, a new moisturiser I got at Christmas or IF!! How is everyone else doing? -

December 2019 Sleevers, how are you doing? What’s your stats?
eporter replied to smb123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 4 weeks out today and have been at 23lbs down for the last week or so, really fluctuating with a pound less. I hate how this messes with my head lol like you feel like it's not enough but realistically it's more than I would've done on my own lol I keep trying to tell myself this. I do need to work on getting more water in, I've gotten a lot better at getting my protein in but I don't think I'm getting enough calories either. I want to start working out. I bought some weights and have an elliptical..just gotta use it lol edit to add: What are you guys eating at the stages you're in? How may calories? I'm on my 2nd week of purees; I've had scrambled eggs, tuna, refried beans and homemade guacamole so far. I don't have an actual schedule to follow on how I eat though. I "feel" hungry often but get full so fast. I see my dietician for the 1st time post op on February 11th.
