    genepro vs isopure

Thank you for sharing you're thoughts on Genepro. I've had the same exact thoughts after a few hours research last week. People here on BP rave about it, but it just seems a little too shady to me. My Isopure from Amazon is in the mail. I'm a little worried about it, considering I hate all of Isopure's RTD's. But I'm ready to give it a try. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Hello everyone! Today is my two week post op mark. I've been on puréed foods since the 1st. I have to say that cottage cheese is the best thing so far. I just tried some mashed potatoes thinned out with some gravy and it was good but I could only have 4 bites before getting full. I am still struggling with protein goals. I can't tolerate the shakes post surgery, they make me feel sick. The GENEPRO will be here Thursday I hope that works out. I have been staying hydrated the best I can. It just feels like I'm non stop sipping on something just to get the required amount of fluid so I don't dehydrate. Fourth of July weekend was hard. Everyone was having burgers and hotdogs and I was having 4oz of cottage cheese. Oh well. The best part was this morning when I stepped on the scale... I'm down over 20lbs!! Any April surgery buddies

Oh, Nikki31, I’m sorry you’re going through a tough time. I have to admit, as soon as I got home, I tried a new protein drink from Core Power. In one sip, it didn’t sit right. I thought maybe I’m not ready for shakes, but tried again, and the 2nd sip felt like I was gonna die. I can’t even explain the pain. Needless to say, I will never touch a Core Power anything. I got an Ensure in the hospital, and I tried that, and didn’t have a problem with gas or bloating. I’ve since tried Premier and Genepro, and have been fine. You might consider unflavored protein, and you can sprinkle that thing in anything. I even put it in my flavored water for added bonus. Genepro and Unjury have one, and both are available online or GNC. Wishing you well!

Hi Mian , do you know if GENEPRO mixes well with hot coffee. Everything curdles on me. Sent from my LG-K330 using the BariatricPal App

    Diet After Surgery

I can still have eggs and cheese, Nonfat Greek yogurt, and FairLife milk. I asked about those. And I got GENEPRO to add to smoothies or other foods. I'm still going to cover my tush to at least get Protein. I'm just basically saying I was stressed not to count nutritional numbers. I wanted to see if my program was similar to everyone else's. Regardless, I have to follow their plan, he's my only choice of doctor and I have to drive nearly 6 hours to see him lol. But they have been doing this program many years, so I just hope it works. Something must be right if they are still in business and have nearly a 5 star rating. I was just a bit shocked is all. Still a bit lost as to exactly where to start on the bean portion. I've never been much of a bean eater lol. Guess I will learn. I have Beano on hand at least lol! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Any August 31st Sleevers?

An easy way to get your protein in is to use Genepro protein powder. 30gm per tbsp! Tasteless and mixes with hot or cold. I buy mine on Amazon.

    Does appetite come back?

I mix GENEPRO Protein with my morning coffee every morning. The rare occassions I don't have coffee, I will take a shake in the morning instead. I average 80-90 protein a day. @thinn2010, I started off losing slow and had that 3rd week stall when I moved to puree. Between months 2 and 4 1/2, the weight flew off.

WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?

I will try the warm water. I do drink the sugar free propel and crystal lite throughout the day. I don't seem to like water right now, so I don't drink enough of it. I don't drink the protein shakes much either, but I did buy some Genepro unflavored protein powder and mix it in things to make sure I get my protein in everyday. I should probably not get on the scale everyday when I am in a stall! Hopefully things will get moving again in both areas lol.
  10. GENEPRO and unjury unflavored I have found that both of these are good as far as not changing the flavor, but they do change the texture for me which is unpalatable to me.

    I hate protein shakes

Genepro does not have 30g of protein per scoop. They were actually sued (and lost) for making this (and other) false claims. I would never be comfortable supporting, or ingesting products from a company that is as blatantly deceitful to claim to have 30g of protein in 15g volume.
  12. Stay off the scale your going to make yourself crazy this is hard enough already I only weigh once a week I was sleeved at the end of February this year and have lost 173 lbs since sept 20 th 2014 to now it will happen I swear have you tried the unflavored protein powders at all I used genepro and mixed it in cottage cheese applesauce hot cereals mashed potatoes soups tea etc was the only thing I could stand my surgeon told me that rock in your chest feeling is because of swelling on your insides I had it too was awful also u may be eating to much at one time I had to really reevaluate everything I was doing to stop the discomfort I know it's sounds nuts cuz you can only eat so little but I tried it and it worked also don't drink too close to eating that makes everything hurt as well my dr said to try warm drinks about 45 mins or so before meal he said it would help the swelling I was nauseas every time I tried to eat and I had to stop after 2 bites and this is what he said to do and it helped my nutritionist allowed me for a few weeks to have baby fruit juices watered down or low sugar orange juice watered down I hope this helps

How's the genepro protein? I just ordered some and should be here soon. I'm having trouble finding an unflavored protein that isn't awful tasting. Also, congratulations on your win! That's exciting.
  14. I'm vegetarian too. The number I was told was at least 65g of protein - which still seems like a lot. This last week I have been able to get over 100g consistently by pumping up my morning shake (I continue to do a protein shake for breakfast because I am not a breakfast person, and have been doing this for years). I use Fairlife milk which has more protein instead of regular skim, a scoop of my protein powder, and add a scoop of Genepro flavourless powder as well. That shake is really filling, and has a tonne of protein. It sets me up for the rest of the day. Anything I can, I add the Genepro to - Greek yoghurt, cottage cheese, oatmeal, my bariatricpal chili and curry. The scoops are very small and it dissovles easily if you stir slowly. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6OSDYA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 My nutritionist also said that it gets easier the further out you get and you don't need these massive amounts of protein forever. You will be able to tweak your macros as you get to maintenance to what works for you.

    Any April 2018 Sleevers?!?!

Hi! I had my surgery April 9th. I now mix GENEPRO’s unflavored Protein Powder in with my applesauce. Let me know how to keep in touch! I’m so confused by all the vitamin stuff too still!
  16. @@nancynew have you tried GENEPRO? It is a "tasteless" powder that has 30g of protein for just 1 tbsp. I start my day off with it mixed with decaf coffee and a little SF creamerHello RosemarySo I put Genepro in my decaf coffee this morning. Along with my creamer and it was so good. Blended well , didn't even know it was in there. Have you tried putting Genepro in other things ? I was wondering if it blends well in cold or room temperature foods / drinks. I drink v8 juice , gonna try it in that later today. My NUT said should be whey isolate Proteins. I don't think Genepro is an isolate. I'm going to take it with me to my NUT appt on Monday. She what she thinks. I've read that their claims on product information isn't what it really claims to be. But that's just what I've heard and read. Definitely don't take my word. Research it and show to your dr... That's why I didn't even bother with buying it....I told my NUT that I was using it every morning and she said that she knew of it. I didn't really get the impression that she had a negative view on it. But, I may have to do more research.Well it the best I can do right now. Genepro or no protein. Something better then nothing. At least getting protein. I appreciate you sharing. ????????

    March Sleevers

I can still do milk +carnation SF + genepro unflavored in the morning which is close to 40 grams of protein. All of the rest of the 5 flavored Syntrax i bought I can't tolerate. I can also do isopure alpine punch ready to drink. I have been trying to do some soup with protein mixed in. It does get repetitive

    genepro

I highly recommend everyone do their own research and judge for themselves about the claim of 30 grams of protein in one serving of Genepro. The claim is that you get the *equivalent* of 30 grams of protein because of their production process and how much of their protein is absorbed versus whey protein. But definitely read up on it and judge for yourself. Don't just take the claim at face value without doing your research.
  19. I am 5 days post op and 1 thing before i forget, is I want to highly recommend the GENEPRO Protein flavorless. It gives you 30gms protein in one tablespoon, and I add it to clear broth, chicken, and does not change the flavor at all, and really helps to add to your protein intake for the day. I know people also like the Isopure, I think, but that is too much protein at once for me. Just a suggestion
  20. I like optimum nutrition gold standard mocha cappuccino, syntrax nectar fuzzy navel and kiwi strawberry, and chike coffee protein. You can buy samples from Nashua nutrition website. I also have genepro which can be mixed with other beverages or soft foods.

    November 2020 sleevers

I know there seems to be a lot of controversy about the brand, but it was what my nutritionist recommended... I got a sample (on my own) pre-surgery, and it was great as far as not being able to taste it, so... I use Genepro. Pre-surgery, I tried it in some yogurt, and in just plain water. Couldn't detect it in the yogurt at all, and could only marginally in the water (it might be undetectable if I added some Mio or something...) The Premier Protein is just all gross to me now, though I still slog through because I don't want to waste the ones I have.

    Genepro - 3rd generation?

Following. I just drug out what's left of my old bag of unflavored Genepro in hopes of upping my protein to break my month long stall. I also went onto their website because I may need to purchase more and also noticed the new stuff. Curious if anyone has tried it.

Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?

Think of it like gasoline in a car....... put the same one gallon in two cars and one might get 30 miles on it while the other might only get 10. How it is absorbed by the body definitely makes a difference, so I'll consider their claims until I hear definitive information to the contrary. I have been using GENEPRO for over a year and only tried it after I could not find a single other Protein powder I could stand. (And I tried them all) It has worked very well for me, so I keep using it. To each their own.
