I was just banded on 8/4/2009... I am feeling sore and have some serious gas but happy that I am banded. I am not hungry at all and I hope to stay this way. I was banded by Dr. Antonetti. Did anyone else get banded this month already? How are you all feeling?

It’s my first week banded, I think am doing well I have lost 10 pounds since last Monday the 4 august my band – anniversary and I am happy about it. Tomorrow will be my first day going to the gym since I got banded. Am not expecting to be back to my to my old self before I got banded but I will go and try to exercise for 30 minutes and see how it goes. I am happy so far, I currently have no big pain. Except the fact that my surgeon out my port right underneath my breast so needless to say wearing a bra for now hurt like hell. To honest it’s sometimes hard even at one week after the band I find myself having cravings. Like today I decided I was going to grill a little BBQ for my fiancé. Everything went very well until I started craving hot dogs and hamburger. It just became clear to me at that time that I would struggle all my like with my food addiction and I have to take it day by day. :biggrin2:

So, according to my surgeon, I am to have nothing but Clear liquids (Water, broth, black coffee or plain tea), sugar free popsicles and sugar free Gelatin cups. I am also suppose to drink to simple Protein drink (no fruit and no dairy). My choice of Protein Drink is Muscle Milk Light. When I add up the calories of what I take in for the day, I am left wondering if this is healthy. Muscle Milk Light: 140 cal X 2 = 280 calories Sugar Free Popsicles: 15 cal X 2 = 30 calories Sugar Free Gelatin Cups: 10 cal X 2 = 20 calories Total Calories = 330 Calories A Day????!! How can your body possibly heal with so few calories coming in? Doesn't your body start metabolizing muscle to compensate for the lack caloric intake? Or won't it just effectively go into starvation mode which is not beneficial at all? What am I doing wrong?

Hi all, got a weird situation (I have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow so no worries on that front, I'm just looking for some input here). I never really had any port pain at all, just at the incision line. Last night I sat down kind of strangely (and quickly, I kind of plopped down in frustration over a telephone conversation) and suddenly, some pretty significant pain about 2 inches above the port incision. I poked it a bit (later when the pain went away) and found that that's where the port is! The pain kind of comes and goes now, comes when I move or stretch in a certain way or even slouch in my computer chair. Anyone have this? What might it be? I'm of course worried I managed to pop a stitch and flip the thing or make the tubing come undone or something dramatic like that. Again, I'm seeing the surgeon tomorrow and will certainly ask there--but anyone know what I'm talking about? Suggestions?

finally got official approval from insurance last week. go next week for my pre-op. not sure how much weight i've lost on the no-fun pre-op diet, but i've still got two more weeks to get that liver small. the last couple of days i've been having pain on my right side under my ribs. my PCP says it might be my gallbladder, so i'm doing a hida scan on saturday. isn't that ironic that i'm eating the healthiest in my entire life, and now i might have gallbladder problems. even more ironic, it's the Protein shakes that are giving me the attacks. ah well. i'm hoping if it is a gallbladder issue that the doc will play nice and do both at the same time. my PCP says sometimes insurance won't pay for both if you do both at the same time, so docs are hesitant. but i really don't want to go under the knife twice, and i read somewhere that a pretty high percentage of LB patients end up with gallbladder problems, so better to get it out now, i suppose. all in all, my spirits remain pretty high. i've been putting most of my focus into what foods i'm eating, even logging everything at livestrong.com (cool website, btw.) now i'm on a personal Quest to find the "perfect combo" of protein, carbs, and fat for my weight loss goals. thanks to everyone for their surgery stories. while some of them have made me even more nervous about what COULD happen, it's helped me in another way really get mentally prepared for this huge event in my life.

Hi December Bandsters! I wanted to share I saw my Dr. today for my two week post op (technically I am two weeks tomorrow but they are closing for the week for the holidays.) anyways as of today I am down 23 lbs! My doc gave me permission to slowly begin to introduce solid foods! I have been so hungry on the mushies and not feeling satisfied. My first fill is also scheduled for 1/28/09. Hopefully, some of you who had your surgery earlier in December will be able to share your first fill experience. I am also able to start exercising so tomorrow I am going to start using my gazelle again! Whoo-hoo. My biggest concern at this point is I am definetely hungrier and worried about eating too much. What's going on with everyone else?

Still not feeling the restriction I hoped to have. Have had my first fill 1.5 weeks ago. I have a 10ml band and have 7mls. So a combination of disappointment, PMT and being busy at work has ended up being a bad week food wise [emoji22] [emoji22]

I'm watching the infomercial and it sounds like it could be helpful. I'm looking for a good plan to help with weight loss. I just had my band replaced with a larger band and can literally eat anything. I want to try to lose the rest of my weight without being so tight that I'm miserable. So, have you or anyone you know tried this plan? I only need to lost about 40lbs.

Gained 14lbs at 5 weeks post op..what am I doing wrong
sleeviewonder2021 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all! I’m in a bit of a panic, I’m 5 weeks post op, my starting weight was 274lbs. My op weight was 268lbs. At 3weeks post op my weight was 236lbs and somehow my weight since I started purées then eventually solids has been on a steady incline(I’m now at 250lbs🥺) . It’s really disheartening. I’m honestly not sure if I’m not eating properly or whether something else might be wrong. I did have my TOM mid week 4 so I thought it might be hormonal and that I’m retaining water but nothing seems to be changing. I drink 2.5l of water a day . I eat less than 700cal a day. I get 70g of protein in , 15g of carbs and about 10g of fat in total a day. Do I have my quantities wrong? My nutritionist hasn’t been very helpful. Please can someone offer some advice.- 2 replies

Ok I know I didn't blog last week. First off I gained 2 pounds last week but then I lost 2 pounds this week so it is a wash for the last two weeks. Let's talk about week 33 really quick. On Sunday the family and I were coming back from a reunion at my in-laws and I blew a tired on the freeway on the way back. Scary I know. Well in changing the tire I injured my back and hamstrings. As a precaution to keep from hurting myself any further I did not walk for the week. Thus the two pound weight gain. My injuries did heal thank the lord. Now for this week I walked on Monday. It felt great. Then Monday afternoon we had a meeting at work which was to inform us that we as employees needed to make a choice. We could either be laid off and go on unemployment or we could take an hours cut and only work 16 hours a week. Well for me that meant dire financial consequences as it would anyone and so my wife and I had to discuss what to do. As a result my stress level has been on high all week. I have hardly slept through the week. Today will be my last day at work but yesterday we learned at my work place that a client may be needing major work done which would bring everyone back to full time and keep us there for several months. So there is a glimmer of hope that the layoff will be short lived. My diet and exercise has not been the for thought in my life this week. So I can only attribute the weight loss this week to stress. However I am getting back on track and will continue to work on it. It feels so much better to to have lost what I have but I still have plenty more to go. I also will be back on track with blogging weekly and hope you all continue to check in on my blog each week! Weight loss totals for the last two weeks... Week 33 This week 2 pounds gained Current Weight - 357 lbs Loss Since Surgery - 85 lbs (33 weeks) Total Weight Loss - 128 lbs Week 34 This week 2 pounds lost Current Weight - 355 lbs Loss Since Surgery - 87 lbs (34 weeks) Total Weight Loss - 130 lbs

It is exactly 1 week before my surgery on Sept 3rd. I am still on my UNJURY protein shakes which have helped me loose weight... and I am hoping to loose about 15 more pounds prior to surgery so wish me luck! So far only 1 of my closest friend knows and I plan on keeping it that way. I went to a pre surgery workshop yesterday which helped me in understanding the whole surgery procedure and I can honestly say 'I CANT WAIT TO GET BANDED' the wait is killing me. Good luck to everyone else who is banded or on the journey to being banded. This is a crazy weekend for me becuase I am moving from one apartment to another, and hoping to have everything moved and situated prior to my surgery... can I say stress much. Good luck  "Sharing is caring"

I am very excited, I have my 5th medically supervised dietitian appoint on 6/17/2010. The 6th and final appointment on is on 07/08/2010. Hopefully approval will come before the end of July. I can't believe that I could have my surgery date in less than 2 months

Well I went for my first fill yesterday at the office and he couldn't do it blindly so I went to the hospital today to have it done under floro. Apparently my port is too deep and it tilted sideways and is movable so I have to be re-operated on and I am aggravated but stuff happens. I am self pay and I reminded him of that. He told me not to worry and that he would work it out with the hospital so that I wouldn't have to pay anything. I sure hope he can re-do it soon. He's going to move the port up higher right in the middle below my sternum. I didn't even go to the gym today cuz I was a bit depressed but I'll be right back at it tomorrow. Yesterday I was 6 weeks out and had lost 37 pounds but that's because I am so complaint and I exercise like I'm supposed to. Last week I started weight training as well. Has anyone else had this happen to them or anything like it? Janet:confused:

4 weeks post op, not getting full
Darlyn Dwan Rottkamp DeVoe posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all, hate to be asking so many questions but I don't get full. No matter what I eat or drink, I can keep going. I haven't of course but last night I just couldn't be satisfied. I'm starting to miss eating pretzels and Snacks. I only lost 9 lbs since surgery. I thought it would come off quicker. Also, what is the green zone? Thanks for helping this newbie out! -

I thought I was in the clear with gas pains being I was 6 days after surgery. That is until last night, when it all seems to hint my, my shoudler has been killing me. I haven't had to take my pain meds until last night. I am surprised by the delay. Once I eat anything it starts hurting even more. AAHHHHH
