  1. Hi, thanks for the compliments. I do workout a lot - about 5-6 times a week. I do cardio 3 times, weights 3 times (1 of those times is with a trainer), and abs every day. It's a lot of work and dedication, but totally worth it. I feel so much better about myself and I used to have serious back issues, which have faded along with the weight. The 65 lbs I've lost is a lot of weight and strain to be carrying around with you every day. Are you banded?

  2. Correct, depending on your size - I weighed about 280 and mine was about an hour.

There is a combination of soreness and discomfort, a lot of which is dealing with your own mind. I had a fear of hurting myself so I was afraid to sit up.

Actually diet before surgery was important for me because I had a fatty liver so losing some weight before hand helps shrink the size of the liver and makes it easier for them to work on me. The diet before consisted of high protein shakes, broths and non-starchy vegetables. From the reading I've been doing every doctor varies so if they didn't mention it, it is probably not necessary.

After surgery, I have two week liquid, then move on to purees for another two weeks, then soft foods. So your six weeks seems normal to me.

    Hope this is helpful.

  3. OMG!!! I was just poking my head in to say hellerrrrrrrr & see how your doing?? What the french fry??? Broke his nose?? Are you kidding me?? Tell him to tape him nose together wrap it in gauze and more tape & get to you into surgery STAT!!! Dang mama!! Sorry to hear about your delay. Well it gives you one more week to me even more prepared than this week. I will say a prayer for you & that all goes well next week. (And pray he don't break a foot or a cheek bone next!! Smmfh @ the dr.!! Hmph!!)

  4. well that's good to hear. How long were you on liquids for then? my doc says I'll be on liquids for 3 weeks. yikes!

  5. thanks! not to bad but not sure about it really right now. its been alittle over two weeks and still cant fit into my normal jeans or even my fat jeans which i dont understand. but the procedure went great. wasnt as painful as people put it out to be. if it is i didnt feel it just had drains for a week and that bugged me the most of all. also i had a painpump so that prob contributed to not having as much pain as other. im up and walking been going to the gym and actually walking on the treadmill since its easier to hold onto something and walk then trying to walk hunched over for a long period of time.

  6. Hi - I noticed you were getting lapband by Dr Soriano...so am I. I start my pre op diet next week! Good Luck to you!

  7. Hi there, Crissy!

I am getting mine done at NorthWest Weight Loss Surgery Center in Everett. All they do for weight loss is Lap Band. Hearing that you are going to Swedish for yours makes me wonder if I have made a mistake. Just because Swedish is such a wonderful hospital. NWWLS has been wonderful. They have support meetings twice a month and open appointments for counseling so that part is nice.

I read about your infection... best of luck with that! Hope you are making a quick recovery and getting on top of it. I am on my post op diet. Three 110 calorie protein shakes and one 400 calorie meal a day. It is crazy. However, important because it shrinks the liver to make the surgery easier.

Thursday is my surgery. Should take four hours and then I can go home.

I will let you know how things were for me.

I am more nervous than I thought I would be. About the journey after the surgery and not the surgery itself.

    Cheers,

    Tanya

  8. Hi -

I'm thrilled about taking 2 weeks off too! I'm doing well, not noticing any change on the scale, but my clothes are fitting differently and I have lost the fat roll that I had on my neck! :D I had bowel issues to, but my mom put so much benefiber in a bottle of water that it was cloudy and I almost had to chew it. It took over 24 hours to work, but I have been regular ever since. This morning I woke up and was not at all hungry. I tried to force something down but it didn't go well, after that I suffered with nausea most of the day. By dinner time I was fine. Who knows what's going on there...one more thing for me to discuss with my dr on Tuesday.

  9. Hello luckyinlove, Yes I am eating regular food now, I just started my 6th week and the list of foods they tell you to eat it is very important to follow those guidelines. My first week on liquids were fairly easy, second week on full liquids was pretty cool but weightloss came to a standstill (was only eating around 500 cals a day that wk) and a little head hunger. At my two week post op appt. they moved me to pureed and 900-1000 cals (be sure to count). I have loss 16 pounds in 5 wks. Started at 246 at initial consult, 239 day of surgery and 222.8  to date. I am so so happy at 41 years old, no kids but hope to start trying at my 1 year bandiversay. Feel free to ask me any questions, would love to help. I learned a lot from this forum but do not dwell on the negativity on the forum, stay positive and you will succeed.

  10. Hey Karlzmom and Jalivia! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys, but today is actually the best day I have felt all week. So okay, the surgery was Monday and of course that was hell and Tuesday wasnt great either. But I have actually been doing okay, no vomiting at all, just soreness around the bellybutton area. I have stuck to the mushy diet, I've tried all kinds of things, scrambled eggs, refried beans, peanut butter, cream of wheat, and protein shakes of course. I have even eaten some Wheatables. We took the kids out for ice cream and I had strawberry sorbet but I wanted a turtle sundae! How you feeling Karlzmom?

  11. I am soooo glad to hear you're doing ok!! I'm so happy for you....

keep me posted. I know, I'm counting my 3 weeks again!! keep drinking and walking. good luck!

  12. I'm so sorry to hear that your surgery was postponed. I'll pray that you get healthy enough real soon to be rescheduled.

As for my post-op plan, it's six weeks of full liquids. No mushy stage and right into regular food at week 7. Very tough to be sure and I'm not aware of anybody else on this board who has such a post-op diet. My doc is unique I guess.

When will you know about rescheduling?

  13. Thank you, I am a little nervous too, but I am so glad I have made this decision because I know its the right one for me. Its weird thinking that a week from right now, my surgery will be over. Good luck with your surgery too, I know we will all do great!

  14. Hi! How are you doing...did you find out what you are having? Friday is 15 wks for me. I'm thinking about getting the 3d sono to find out...i just can't wait. :) I am doing ok. I had to go to the er a few weeks back because I needed fluids so bad from throwing up and not being able to drink. But since then I have been good, and fingers crossed, the throwing up is gone! I am very happy. I havent gained anything, but am staying the same. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care!

  15. I have a feeling you may have just had your surgery!! I hope all went well and I'm sure it did!! I am now officially 4 weeks out and yesterday I had my first fill. For me it was painless, honestly. And I lost 10 lbs. Not as much as some but I lost 49 before the band so I'm ok with the 10, it's like 2.5lbs a week so thats good! So now it's 59lbs and I've only gone down 2 sizes :( It's me belly. I've lost the most fromthe chest up, butt and legs. I fear the belly will be the last to go for me.

Let us know how your doing!!

  16. Hello and congrats :) both you and Fanny Adams are great inspirations to me! Also being from Perth makes it that much more exciting too... i was banded a week ago so I am on my way but only the beginning :) can I ask which surgeon you had for your lapband and if you had your BL in perth?

  20. Hi Linda, glad to see someone my age experienced the Lap Band Surgery. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op, lost 28 lbs and at a stand still. Have not had a fill yet. Is this normal to not lose any more weight.

  21. Hi Kerry,

Just wondering how your weightloss is going? Mine stopped about a week ago! I've upped my calories to 8-900 per day and it's still not moving. It's just not logical is it?

I'm able to eat everything now and have never pb'd.....have you? I am really careful though.

I'm having my fill on the 24th but I can't see that helping as I'm not overeating!

    Speak soon,

    love,

    Baffled of Lancing!!

  22. veg

Hi Susan, how are you doing? I haven't lost any more weight in the past week and I'm really peed off about it. I'm having about 8-900 calories now so logically I SHOULD be losing it shouldn't I?

I should just not weigh myself really but I always do!

    What's happening with your weight?

I lost 12lbs in the first 10 days, then it took 5 more days to lose another pound, then nothing! I don't think anything will change when I have my fill on the 24th as I'm not overeating at all. I can eat anything now, including bread, which is great! I'm really careful though as I'm not all that hungry.

    Speak soon, Sue x

  23. Hi again! My girls are 14 and 16. They are great girls too, really are the best kids, but don't tell them i said so! lol My pre-op is officially (from the surgeon) one month on the shakes program. This is to help shrink my liver. My friend a nutiritionist said tho, that i should slide into the month long deal, because it will be way hard going.. for all the reasons you have outlined. So, today i started the phase 3 of this program for three weeks, phase 2 for three weeks and then phase one for my remaining 4 weeks until surgery. I think too, that i may have to wear some type of mask for sleep apnoea is i come back as positive for that disorder. I haven't got my results back yet. I'm thinking too, it's a given that i try and exercise as much as possible as well. I agree, this is a second chance for me too... isn't it a nice feeling? I know the road is going to be bumpy, but surely there is something bright at the end of it for both of us! Have an outstanding day! dee xox

  24. Thanks for replying back to me. I've been walking almost everyday in the evening with my husband and after about 4 weeks, like you, I plan to pick up the pace with either some cycling or with the eliptical bike. I probably can't afford the body lift although I would love a but lift. Its been 12 days for me so I'm feeling good. Just hope I can follow in our steps and keep up the exercise. Keep up the good work. I'll have to post some pics up soon.
