Over 400Lbs Gastric Sleeve Success Story
jenngottaloseit replied to jasminem89's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all. I just wanted to share my first major nsv. I actually went into walmart with my husband and walked the entire store to get what we needed. Before I could barely make it half way through our shopping and I would go wait on the benches outside the store. I am excited to already notice a difference even before surgery. -
I was sleeved on May 1st. I went into surgery weighing 223, I was on two cholesterol medicines and a blood pressure med. I had been taking these for years! I am now 8 weeks post op and went for a follow up with my Endocrinologist for my Thyroid issue................. My cholesterol is now PERFECT, I am no longer pre diabetic and my blood pressure is PERFECT!! No more meds!! I am so happy! I will always have to take med for thyroid but I couldn't feel more victorious! Todays weight is 185! I chose this surgery for my health, and it WORKS! Love my sleeve!

Woo-Hoo! NSVs feel so good, don't they? You have worked hard for this. Savor it and look forward to the next one. -
I went to the County Fair today and did not sample ANY fair food! Not a deep fried Oreo, funnel cake, or hand dipped corn dog passed these lips! I brought my own lunch, as did my 20 month old grandson, and we ate together while his mom and dad ordered their lunch, then we went exploring while they ate. Not only am I proud, my wallet is SO happy with me! I'm counting this as a big NSV!!

Any potential sleevers in Perth?
Gesined replied to Sunette's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, can relate! I want that piece of pizza, but I'm buggered if it will fit in! Just take things easy and your recovery will continue to go well. I'm doing well.. I have lost 10kgs not to bad in 5 weeks, considering the stupid stall I had. It gets easier, and I'm learning what, when and how much to eat. food is becoming not so much of a focus anymore. I put on a jacket this morning as I am desperate for something warm to wear to the footy. All my jackets were way too small. I was gobsmacked when it actually fit! No tightness in the arms, or across the back, and I could even do up the buttons. It's one of those 'NSV's' that I read about all the time, and it feels good! -

@@mrsfitzpatrick I think she meant loss but autocorrect is brutal. Take it from a chronic texter. I also wanted to apologize for making you uncomfortable and will do my best not to going forward. @@WhoKnows YAYYY I've never heard of an exclusive gym but that sounds awesome! High level of accountability for sure. Nsv Got a haircut today myself, not drastic but enough to force me to see my face and neckline has changed for the better. -

How awesome..... Good for you. Hope that this is the first of MANY NSV's !!!!!!!!!! -
NSV - Went to costco to get protien bars with the family, they decided we should eat at costco. I wanted the Pizza but instead got the berry Smoothie (and only got it filled halfway)
-
Maybe nutritionally, but I would have ended up throwing away most of the salad and knew what I didn't drink of the smoothie (which was most of it) I could pass along to my family.

Thought I would share my success: So, this morning I had to try about 20 outfits to find one that was not falling off me! There is a big pile of clothes that don't fit on my bed. In the past, it was the reverse! The pile would consist of clothes that were too tight! Not a single pair of my office pants fits me anymore. So, I am going to use my 30% kohls coupon today to buy a couple of pairs to ride me over. Down from pant size 22 to 16! YAY!

I have a different kind of NSV to report. I've been exploring a couple of dating web sites for the past month, and yesterday I made contact with a very attractive guy who had rated my profile very highly. He was only the 3rd guy I've contacted through one of the sites. (The 1st one stood me up for what was supposed to be our 2nd date and has not contacted me since, and the 2nd one didn't reply at all.) Well, this guy took offense at something I said and sent me a very rude reply. I was bummed. The NSV is... I very much wanted to eat chocolate to self soothe, but I did NOT give in. Yay me!

Non scale victories
karinbuck replied to karinbuck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awesome job everyone! I was weighing myself everyday. I realized I was obsessing so I stay at once a week now. I find it keeps me in check a little. I am still battling food addiction so knowing that I'm gonna get on the scale at some point I try not to over indulge. Some of my other NSV's have been getting off of diabetic meds, cholesterol meds, not having to pee in the middle of the night (due to bad blood sugar), and not having joint pain. -
my NSV is fairly small, being that i'm only 4 days out from surgery. BUT... prior to surgery I was taking 10 prescription pills a day, and today I am down to one-half of one pill. WHOO HOO!!!!!!!

Non scale victories
RJ'S/beginning replied to karinbuck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this brought tears to my eyes...I am soooooooooo proud of you and I don't even know you.....Please do me a favor. Put the scale away and if you have to weigh yourself once a month until you are at goal. The scale is our enemy and can sabotage us into thinking we are failing the program. Happy days are coming in leaps and bounds for you. Don't let numbers ruin that for you....Congratulations on your NSV!!!!!! -
May 29 surgery date. SW 250, HW 270, CW 232 so down 18 pounds in the month since surgery. NSV: off of my bp med, down from size 20 to 16 - 18 (goodbye plus sizes forever!), and yesterday my husband told me how good I looked and he warned me not to lose so much that I "disappear". Bless his heart.

I was sleeved 3/20/2014. I'm down 46 lbs. weight loss has been a little slower than I wanted. But I feel great. I'm walking miles with no back pain. I've started running. I walked/ran a 5k last month and I'm doing another 5k on the 4th. I am working hard and the scale moving slow can be a little discouraging. So I am relying heavily on my non scale victories. Last night I put my wedding band and engagement rings on. They were a little snug, but I have not been able to wear them for almost five years. The proud look on my husbands face said it all for me. I'm so proud of myself. Surgery was not an easy decision for me. I fought it for ten years. But this has been the 2nd best decision I've made for my life. The 1st was marrying my husband. I love hearing others NSV stories. So please share.

great job you will have many more moments in the next few months. getting into jeans without a struggle was one of my first nsv's. keep on doing what you are doing... -
Well today is casual day at work (only have one a month) and I had a very special NSV this morning indeed. I really haven't tried on any of my jeans, just feeling I would just have to get used to not ever beable to wear them. I do wear liquid knit pants and have gone down in sizes in them and they feel good that I am down 2 to 3 sizes in them. So I decided I would try on my jeans in the larger size 20's, but something told me to take out the 18's as well. So instead of trying the 20's on at first I tried the 18's and low and behold they fit and not even too tightly!!! I am losing slowly...and don't see a lot of it-in the mirror...but this helped me realize that it is coming off...just very slowly!!! But I am a very happy person this morning. Got into my 18's and an XL (not a plus size either) hospital t-shirt. So happy...thanks WLS!!! It is working!

April 16th role call - who's with me!
katesuccess replied to Bluesea71's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Matt1912, I gotta say I LOVE a man who knows that "no elbows on the table" rule!!! And yes, I'm also a recent inductee to the Booth Please Club. Such a nice nsv! I'm 5"4" and 53 I was sleeved April 29 at 277 Currently at 246 Goal is 145 (I said 150, doc says 145...we'll see.) And - I feel like I'm not losing as fast as I'd like to be. Hard to imagine with 800 calories a day, 60-70 g Protein, daily exercise and strict adherence to plan I can't lose at a better rate. Sigh. I'm happy with what I've lost, don't get me wrong, I just can't imagine how i could do more if even this slow rate of loss slows down any more, as people say it does. I asked my doc yesterday, and he said his only real suggestion to spur it on was either to start working out for two hours a day before Breakfast (Eek!) or go Paleo. (No cheese or chocolate? I don't think so.) -

What is taking so long?
RJ'S/beginning replied to Luanddo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 lbs a week is 2 lbs a week...Where is the problem with that!? There are a lot of people who would give their right arm for that to happen. Please do not be tied to the scale. Stay on program and weigh in less often. Like only at the doctors office. This is about health and well being..Not about numbers or what the scale tells you. How do you feel? How are your clothes fitting you. Any NSV even small ones....Those things tell the real story not I lost 2 lbs this week!
