Psychology appt anxious
thinblueline replied to thinblueline's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The problem i have with food is i know when i am full but i go back for more for instance dinner i eat until i am full but i make the excuse that i want more i don't know how to explain it and i drink a lot of fluids and then i feel bloat and i hate the feeling it gives me i lose my breath and the only way for me to feel better and to catch my breath is to lay on my back in bed and then i let out this burp ( sorry TMI i know) then i get up and feel a little better anyway what causes the bloat ? Rich I forgot to mention when it gets close to dinner time my wife or i will say to the other "what do you want for dinner " i hate thinking about food or my wife or i will say while we are eating dinner what do you want for dinner tomorrow night we are not even finished with the meal in front of us and Shes asking about the next nights menu if you will....By the way my wife had gastric bypass surgery years ago and has stayed under 200 ( this is NOT her goal weight ) for years i think it's been like 17 years and she's a chef and has bachelors degree, I think in culinary arts i will talk with you soon. -
SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
angel22_99 replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So today is my one year "surgiversary." I am a tad disappointed as I didn't reach my goal weight of 150, but I'm still down 125 from the morning of my surgery! I am hoping to hit goal by Christmas. I am overall ecstatic with my results so far, but I have a couple unexpected complaints that I'm wondering if anyone else has: I can't carry anything heavy on my shoulders like a heavy purse or bag because I have absolutely no fat padding on my shoulders anymore. If you were to look at me from the waist up (not including the arms/breasts because of the excess skin), I look like I'm anorexic, but if you see my hips and thighs, I still look over weight. Gravity has not been kind to me during this process, LOL And; this may be TMI, so don't read this paragraph if you are squeamish, but when I sit, I feel like I am sitting on something, like rolled up towels. It took me forever to figure out why I get this feeling because I keep checking and I'm never sitting on anything. It's the excess skin on my butt! LOL Also, and this is really TMI, but it's actually harder to clean my bottom because of it. I do want to eventually get a lower body lift, but I want to see if I can hit my goal and maintain it a while first. Overall, I am overjoyed with the results I have attained and am so glad that I got the surgery done! -
What Do I Need For The Hospital Stay?
SoccerMomma73 replied to pebbles7673's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay tmi but the saggy tatas actually rub the upper incision and hurt!!!! I have a super soft stretchy bra that has minimal support but keeps the girls off the belly.... -
Survived my first night at home. Slept pretty well but still not super comfortable as I'm a tummy/side sleeper and that's just not happening yet. I did manage to find a side position that was comfortable and slept like that for awhile. I woke up once with really bad acid reflux (never had this before surgery). I sat up for awhile and sipped Water and luckily it didn't happen again in the night. I'm having bouts of diarrhea - almost total liquid now. Can't believe I even have anything in me to poop! (Sorry if TMI!). Seems like each day gets a bit easier - can't wait to have some more solid food. Would love to hear how everyone else is doing -- hopefully well. I'm going to take my first shower since surgery today (have just washed up so far). Can't wait to feel clean and have clean hair! And, today I must walk and walk and walk as I have so much Fluid in me and still some gas --- I weighed myself when I got home and I was over my highest weight even though I've barely had anything to eat (or drink rather). I understand it's all the fluids and stuff and should drop off. Just a bit of a bummer that I'm over 10 lbs higher than I was date of surgery. Best wishes to all!!!

December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!
LadyLeigh2012 replied to LadyLeigh2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hubby is the ultimate nurse. He woke me up about 15 minutes ago to 'get me moving' … saying that he doesn't want me to get 'too stiff' … but I'm wondering if a full night's rest would be better for me or not. What are your thoughts? Another thing … and this may be a little TMI … but I have a potty question. My bladder woke about 6 hours post-op … but well, the other side has not …if you catch my drift. In fact, I haven't gone to the bathroom [in the way] since about Sunday. It is now Friday. I realize I have not eaten solid foods in a long time so there may not be much to work with here, but I did have a little stool softener yesterday afternoon so maybe that'll help. Anyone else having this 'issue'??? I can only imagine how much better I would feel in the belly area if only I could 'go' …. ugh! -
Georgia Girl, you poor thing. I would have been mortified. I got some cranberry capsules today. I used to take them all the time but then my dr. put me on a low dose of antibiotics which I have taken for years. I can only assume my body has built up a tolerance to them. Good think I don't have a bf or DH. I used to get a UTI every time I had sex. (okay I know TMI again) All Boys, stay out of this thread!

BooBooKitty, Ok, I've brought this up before in another thread but truth be told, that cute bull dog puppy is just a pic I found because I found it to be so cuuuute!!! My actual dogs are rescue dogs from Puerto Rico, Moxie a sato girl and Kiba a rescue boy from Hurricane Katrina, a rottie/shepherd mix. The sato looks more like a larger min pin. When I can get my husband to put their pics up I'll change my avatar. Because they are my babies and I love them even when they are rotten, but they are also very spoiled! Especially now that my daughters in 19 and 23 it's easier to baby the dogs! I'll have to search your dog breed on line. I'd love a bull dog but I really can't because these two are more than anyone can handle. Second truth be told which I haven't told anyone, brandy is the name of my beagle that died a few years ago and she was my favorite dog ever except for the two I have now and she was my second dog so that's where "brandyII" comes from. I named her after that song from the 70s, that went something like "Brandy you're a fine girl what a good wife you would be". Anyway I always liked that song, plus the breeders called her family line Brandywine or something like. Okay tmi for you all, sorry. brandyII.

Hey friends... Sorry it took so long for a reply but I've felt like I've been hit by a semi. There were complications with my surgery. They weren't able to intubate me or use their balloon down my throat to create the pouch. They said that 2 nurse anesthetist and an anesthesiologist both tried and no one was able. They had to to do an internal approach to create the pouch and also fixed a hiatal hernia. I'm just in so much pain. I was able to pass gas. Lol. Still no BM. TMI. I had a moment yesterday. I was asking myself, "What did I just do". I was really regretting it. I'm sure it will pass.

I am 1 month out tomorrow. For the last few days I have been feeling weak, lethargic, even a little shaky. I'm not sure what's going on. Not to be TMI but I might be getting my cycle. I have PCOS so it's not predictable. My Nut put me on dense food this week with a calorie goal of up to 800-900. I'm not there yet, but I am getting my protein in. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
susannabanana replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved Feb 25 (1 wk, 1 day ago) and now that I made it through "hell week" feel like I might survive lol. In the hospital I was nauseous and wobbly and once home I was in pain, my legs swelling and tingling and couldn't get more then a couple tblspns in a day of water or nourishment. Definitely couldn't stomach the shakes and had trouble finding anything that tasted right. I think my taste buds are finally headed back towards normal now- whew! Hubby was sleeved Dec 17 and sailed through everything with no problem, followed the diet with no problem, very little pain, was riding an exercise bike within a few days- basically the best possible outcome. I on the other hand was the complete opposite. I finally just decided I was going to have to eat a bit outside the norm or I was not going to make it and for me that made me start healing. So for example last night I had 1 oz of salmon mixed with a teeny amount of healthy mayo and this morn i am working my way through a scrambled egg and then will have a couple oz of OJ. Including my 2 wk pre-op diet I've now lost 22 lbs including all that fluid weight gain from the IV and surgery. Hubby and I both use myfitness pal- easy to use and nice to see the protein and calorie numbers. TMI: My 3rd day I pooped (hey, we all do it, lol) normally but then for the next few days I had diarrhea everytime I managed to eat something. Thankfully that seems to have passed. Maybe it was the Lobster Bisque, lol. I did have trouble bending over to wipe from the belly pain and hubby bought me this stick thing you attach the TP to but it really didn't work. Not worth the $15. Actually he had bought me a bidet attachment thing for the toilet but our toilet wasn't compatible- darn. Twice I wasn't sure I'd wiped well so I made those "shower now" days, lol. I'm a great tooter and happily no sharts Last night was my 1st night that I was able to sleep in my bed all night without having to move to the recliner. Yes I had a ton of pillows but I made it happen! Still looking forward to being able to curling up on my side for sleep but for now this is good My first week I had a tummy that would just spam and jump on it's own and an awful pain left of my belly button. That pain I was convinced was from splitting something inside because my 2nd trip to potty in the hospital I bet over a little and coughed and felt something there go POP all the way over to my bellybutton! I told the nurse and I told the surgeon but they didn't seem concerned. That was the pain I thought was going to do me in once I was home because I couldn't stomach the liquid pain med they gave and they told me to take tylenol and couldn't handle more then 1 pill a day at that point. That pain, just today is finally easing up- yay! My other big pain was my left shoulder. I had a (surprise) hiatal hernia repair done also and they said that shoulder pain was from the repair. Today I can breathe and not wince as that pain also is fading away finally. One thing I wished I had known sooner was it's really ok to take Aleve and gosh those pills are TINY and last longer! I am finally starting to get my meds and vitamins in but it's slow going. Still haven't had a day where I got them all in. For me besides Tylenol or Aleve, it's - Losartan pill for hypertension, Prilosec capsule to protect the tummy, Ursodial capsule to control the gallbladder (I do have a tiny gallstone), Multivitamin with iron (2 jumbo chewables daily), Calcium Citrade softchews with D3 (4/day), and Sublingual B12 once a week because I don't want the dreaded intramuscular B12 shots. I haven't started exercising yet other then a bit of walking but once I do I will use the exercise bike we have here at home and then move on from there. Hubby goes to Planet Fitness which he says is nice because it's not the kind of place where already fit people go, lol. They do have people there to show you the ropes too and it's only $10 a month and no contract (or $20 and you can use more then 1 location and bring a guest). Unfortunately it's not that close to home. He uses one at lunch near work and on weekends uses one in the next town over. So I was considering Curves for women which is 5 minutes away from home and do their 30 min circuit. My exercise specialist at the weight loss clinic said I could but that he didn't recommend it as a first choice. So I'm not sure. -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
firelle replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So here I am eating 2oz of a two-day old prepared plain Cream of Wheat packet (because that's how long it's taking to eat one packet) and 4oz of skim milk, while my husband brought himself home some supper and is currently eating what seems like the entire freaking Taco Bell menu. I made him go into the computer room to eat, but I can HEAR the crunching and SMELL the taco meat. I so want to crunch on something right now. On the TMI plus side, I finally went #2 today, the 4th day after surgery. It took an HOUR and I lost 1.2lbs. Afterwards, I was literally weak and shaky and felt like childbirth would have been easier. If I ever have a surgical procedure again, I will invest in a truckload of stool softener. -
In my 5th week, on solids, but still having loose BM!
mistysj posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry if this is TMI. I have had very loose stools the whole time. At first it was blamed on the swallow test drink. Then it was blamed on the liquid diet. But it persisted through purée and now that I'm on solids it's still happening twice or three times a day. Doesn't seem to matter what I eat. I'm actually getting less than 10 grams of Fiber a day. I'm afraid to have more because it might make it even worse. It's embarrassing as hell in public bathrooms. This has really been my only unpleasant symptom. I have only been on solids for two days. Is there hope that this will stop? Should I be worried? I am not a worrier by default and so far I have just toughed it out. But come on. I envy those who have the other problem. At least you can just take something for that. -
Hi Ladies! I am officially 4 days post-op. My surgery was Monday and they literally had me walking after I woke up from the surgery. I didn't have any gas pain, maybe due to all the walking they had me do. I have had a very sharp pain, feels like runners cramp in my left side which I am told is normal and even that has gotten better every day. My only other issue is constipation.... I know tmi, but drinking lots of milk of mag in hopes of some relief. Feeling great surprisingly, slowly but surely on the mend! We got this!!!! On our way to being healthy and sexy!!!! Jill

Has anyone else had any "issues" with going number 2? Sorry if this is TMI, but I'm starting to get really concerned. I have not had a normal bowel movement since the day before surgery on January 11th. I thought after a month or so it would return to what was normal for me but I seem to always have very bad gas and explosive episodes when I go. Again, sorry about the TMI. Anyone else have and peculiarities? Thanks, Claricey

March 2011 Bandsters
ElizabethNYC replied to nallygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been able to get on and get my story on here but I've been sleeping a WHOLE lot. First off congrats to my fellow March 15th Bandsters WE DID IT!! And to everyone who was banded today or yesterday congrats. Also Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone. Tuesday morning...I slept about 3 hours lol (From Monday into Tuesday) I had to be at the hospital at 7:30 surgery was at 9:30. Waiting was not fun but finally after they got my IV in and shot me up with my blood thinner I took my walk to the operating room and I'm not going to lie I almost ran the other way. I laid up on the operating table put the oxygen on my mask and before I knew it they shot me in my IV and I was passed out. I woke up in th operating room afterwards but fell asleep again because I don't remember how I got to recovery lol. From there once I woke up a bit more I was feeling ok. I had a morphine drip that I was able to control but really didn't need it that much. I had to stay over night because my surgeon requires it but she also requires most her patients to stay in ICU, especially if they have sleep apnea (which I do). There were no rooms open in ICU so I ended up staying right in recovery all night. I was able to get up and walk around quite a few times which felt good. I also spent a lot of time sitting in a chair. Bad part was I didn't get much sleep. Starting at 2PM I had to drink an ounce of Water once an hour for 4 hours then after that I moved up to 2 ounces and so on until I hit 4 ounces. That went fine no throwing up, no getting stuck. I was discharged around noon yesterday and since I've been home I've been really sore through out my whole body. I feel like my surgeon ran me over a few times with a mack truck lol. I haven't had much gas pain but have been letting out some nice sized burps and I've passed gas a few times (sorry TMI I know lol). Since I didn't get much sleep the night before surgery or the night of surgery I went to bed @ 8PM last night and slept till 8 AM this morning woke up took a pain pill and went back to sleep till 11AMish. If I feel a little better later I'm going to try and take a walk outside since it's so nice out. Sorry if I rambled a little I was just trying to get it all in. I am still in disbelief that I have a band in me and it's actually done! I'm trying to get my Protein shake down but I get full quick so I'm doing it little by little. Thank you all so much for your support, if you haven't been banded yet a big GOOD LUCK to you!!! It's not as bad as I thought (pain wise) and it's totally worth it. <3 -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
sdcheesehead replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, 9 days post op and just started pureed foods. I was given a list of things that are allowed and serving size. I stayed to that list, even made a ricotta bake ( recipe was attached). And I listen to my tummy, stopping when I was full (not even a fourth of a serving), so basically suffered all last night from gas!!! It was terrible. Thought I had pulled something in my tummy. This morning, when I finally passed gas (sorry tmi) felt much better. Thought I'd see if this is normal. Now I'm going to pay more attention to how I eat to help prevent the bubbles getting in there. -
Okay I have my final weigh in is Thursday I have to be down to 313 from 330 that's all good and well I have had it off for about a week now but it is that time of the month and my weight is going from 311 to 316 and I and freaking out with worry because if I don't weigh right no surgery for me any of you have any ideas. Post-Op Update - 9 days Out. First five days were fine, a bit of soreness, kind of loopy from the pain meds, but I was able to walk around. My appetite was non-existent and I had a hard time getting my liquids in. Then all hell broke loose on Wednesday! I was extremely constipated, and finally able to go, and it just made me sick! (Sorry for the TMI). I was able to go do report card pickup for my son, but by the time I got home, I was bedridden. I could not get out of the bed on Thursday, called the doc, he gave me a refill on pain meds. Nurse told me if one dose did not help to go to ER. BP and HR shot up skyhigh! Forced myself to drink a protein shake and eat a small cup of yogurt, went to sleep, woke up the following day feeling 100% better. Long story short, get your liquid and protein or your body will rebel on you! I learned the hard way! Today, I was able to get up, go run errands, clean house and for lunch had some pureed chicken curry over mashed potatoes, about 1/2 cup total. I felt like I'd eaten a five course meal. All and all I seem to be healing and getting back to my old self. I am actually anxious for my first fill so I can really start losing. As of my first Dr. appt, I am down 26 lbs, 12 since my surgery last week.

Hi everyone, I have a question. I've been banded since May 10th and this is the first time this has happened to me. Tonight at dinner I am assuming I ate to much and now the food feels stuck. I feel like I could throw up but I can't (not the food anyway) I keep spitting up my saliva. This has been about 1 1/2 hours now. Is there anything I can do to help this and help the pain go away? I tried to drink something about 30 minutes ago and all I did was spit that up as well. Thanks for any responses!

StephC's PS journey/I got approved!!
Kat817 replied to StephC's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Becky-they refer to it as a mons lift, they are going to do some mild lipo, and lift the skin to make it taut again. He said mine should be pretty easy, as there is not an issue with a pubic hairline----I guess it was a side benefit of chemo that someone besides DH gets to appreciate---sorry TMI I know, but it made me laugh!!! Steph you already look great, you are going to be one of the TT poster children!!! Mine is ungodly, and MUCH MUCH MUCH worse!!!! I am in a size 14 easy--will likely make a 10 when it is said and done, because they fit, they just won't button around the middle. Not sure I could ever post it---but will take them, then decide!! If I looked like you, I could do it without issue, unfortunately I do not!!! Well, I have things started to cook out, guess I better get busy--see you girls tomorrow! Kat -
I'm two days out from surgery and I'm not feeling too much gas pains any more. Although my back and neck are sore, I think from holding my tummy in while getting up and down. I'm taking the liquid tylenol for that. I'm wondering, TMI question here, how long after surgery before you had your first BM? I had one Wednesday evening before surgery, but nothing since then. Also, how long can you sleep at once without having to get up and walk around? I can sleep for about 4 hours, then I wake up, even in the middle of the night, and walk, get a drink, medicate.

August Sleevers Check In
VSGAnn2014 replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just a little TMI self-report on Day Two of the two-week preop diet (first week is two shakes and a Lean Cuisine). 1. Nothing awful, but it's a headache day (and I NEVER have headaches). 2. Honestly, I feel a little flu-ish, too. 3. One other thing -- they should call this "the pee diet." I must've peed 3 gallons already today. (It's my liver using up glycogen and shedding water. So that's good.) Over and out. -
August Sleevers Check In
amorga replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Post-op day five and I'm hoping the incision pain gets better soon. I practically have to give myself diarrhea (TMI, sorry) in order to have a BM cause it's too painful to push. This may sound crazy to some, but I'm so looking forward to the puree stage so I can get more protein in with less volume. It takes me 4 hours to get down a smoothie of Greek yogurt and a half cup of milk. I feel I spend all day trying to get my protein in that it doesn't leave much time for fluids. One thing I'm super happy about is that I've lost 4.5 lbs since surgery day. Wishing everyone a speedy recovery!
