Yeah i found veganism unobtainable so i became a flexible vegetarian (some animal products sometimes but still heavy on the vegetables)

Vegetable soup & fish "taco" I made the most basic vegetarian soup and pan fried fish to go along with a flax/wheat mix flatbread BF's serving is much more appealing so I featured it plus my own before & after (minus 1 cup of soup)

Salads for lunch and dinner tonight because I canโ€™t even imagine cooking lately. Also I made a ginger peanut dressing that was really good but no one wanted it ๐Ÿ˜‘ I had the chicken nugget version, vegetarians got the hash brown version.

  6. Thanks Nicole. So you went at 9:30am and the appointment was at 4:30pm?? Oh dear.........my apointment is scheduled for 2pm but the front desk said to be there at 9am anyway. I hope they have it all figured out by than. Excited to see the new office........... So Dr. Baggs was happy with your weight loss? I have only lost 11 pounds. I hope to add to that a bit but I am hoping they don't expect miracles............. Nicole when you get some time could you tell me how much of a fill you got? And also if you can feel some restriction now? Are you back on liquids for a few days? Ok, ok...........I just like to be prepared before my turn. Zoe my doctor didn't want to refer me. I had to think about it for a month and go back. The second time I had done all my research and had even called and got the criteria from Kaiser as to who qualifies. I just handed it all the my PCP and she looked at me and said your serious and I told her I was and she hesitated but stated she would do it!! That was the end of that. Once I got to bariatrics they were very accepting of me wanting the surgery..............My PCP still doesn't know much about lap band but I am education her!! LOl Reggie: You got a picture posted!!! Yea. Girl you are beautiful just like they said!! I also heard your from Africa we should talk. I just got back from Africa and I am so in love with that it now.............I plan to go back again!! Loved, loved, loved africa.............worth delaying my surgery for a month to go. Candy: I made thick soups, potatoe and broccoli that really filled me up. I had to use the food processer to get them smooth but they saved me. I had to forget the yogurts and puddings and anything cold and............well for me only soup worked to fill me up and it had to be hot for me to feel full. Now I am eating alot of ground up soy veggie meat and tufo stuff and ground up eggs.(gross I know if your not vegetarian).........but I am wanting to go back to soups. I miss those...........I know they are slider food so I am trying to stay away.........I don't really like this stage. I feel like I am ready for mushies and softs now. Weird thing too.........the first week I definetely could feel my band. Didn't hurt but I could feel it...........now I can't feel a thing. I feel the port and I get full pretty quick.........my port aches when I eat to fast...........but I agree with Nicole hard to believe I have a band in there!! LOL Nicole: if your mom moves what will you guys do? Stay in Sacramento or move with her? I guess that depends on Mike and the new job? Hope it all works out!!

I do prefer vegetarian meals but I recently had more plastics and need the protein. This is deli cut Boar's Head Sausalito Turkey and Muenster cheese (the only ones I truly like) they are so good! I'm glad you like the *glass* plate but its plastic ๐Ÿ˜‚. I bought it to display something and ended up eating off of it once i realized it was too small for my needs. I miss thrifting as well, I often wonder when I will be able to shop normally again

I hate it when people post just to post.....

I try every year that we don't go to see family or have family over to suggest that we go out to dinner for Thanksgiving and my DH and DS just get this horrified look on their faces... If I suggested a vegetarian Thanksgiving, I think they'd both petition to have me committed.

Marcy, You are too much, lol! You crack me up! I am sooo glad you were able to lose, but there is no way I would be able to eat the chicken after I harvested it!!! I have trouble with fish, because when I was younger I spent an entire day cleaning blue gills for my dad and 3 brothers!!! Venison is another one, ate it when I was young, but now, can't do it ... get awful images of my dad and brothers butchering them!!! I wish I wasn't that way, but if I think about any animal, I won't be able to eat the meat!!! Even milk can turn my stomach! I eat meat, but I could sooooo easily become a vegetarian, lol!!!

My goal is to be down 40 by surgery. I want a BMI under 40 when I go under! But see, I started eating meat again just so I could do the pre-op and post-op diet stages. A main reason I am going lap-band is so I can go back to vegetarian once I have lost the weight and stabilized. So I stick to the 1200 but don't do the starches, at all. The only carbs I eat are berries and beans and vegies. Oh and the ultra high-fiber tortillas that are 7 fiber 3 net carbs and 5 protein. I log everything in caloriecount.about.com, which sows that I actually average from 900-1100 caloeis a day. I drink all of my water, and more if i can. AND . . . I walk 5 miles every day. But the #1 most important thing I do is my support groups, one at kaiser tuesday nights, one (hiking) one on saturday mornings, and the big sonoma county group once a month. I get emails, texts and calls from my group members morning, afternoon and evening, it is almost like AA or something (so I hear) and it's really hard to fail and get discouraged with all these people cheering me on day and night! Isn't Dr. Baggs wonderful??? So smart, so young, so witty, so adorable! :scared2: He might be young enough to be my son, LOL! I will try to find the thing about his training and post it

OK, so I am totally back with my program! Chris brought over fat-free frozen yogurt last night (he asked first, LOL) and I tasted 1 bite and was done (poor guy had to eat the whole HUGE thing by himself - I am determined!). I want to lose these cravings, which means that I have to cut ALL of the sugar and all of the starchy carbs. I have to quit with the wheat again too; both of my hands are painful & peeling, and I'm having digestive stuff again. So out with flour and sugar, back in with protein. The PROBLEM is that I have now become super sensitive to soy! It causes me smelly gas to no end, and if I have more than 2 servings it's horribly painful gassy stuff. So I have added poultry back in, I had already added fish back in. No wheat and no soy??? No more vegetarian Riley :-( Breakfast: 1/2 cup egg beaters with 1/4 cup reduced-fat cheese & tapatio sauce (150 cals) Tina I will PM you my number so we can do accountability :-)
  13. I feel bad for not posting recently - I had a crazy week (worked 80 hrs in the last 6 days) but as I enter a new 'sane' week I'll work on being more accountable with documenting my food choices. Yesterday: B: 4 oz nonfat greek yogurt, 1/4 blueberries, 1/2 c. kashi go lean crunch S: 1 oz baked cheetos L: 1/2 c. vegetarian chili w/ 1/3 c. shredded cheese & 1/3 of avacado diced S: kitkat bar (i know - it wasn't even a mini sized one) D: 1/2 c. dream dinners kungpao chicken w/ 2 tbls rice
  14. Yea I figure if nothing else I can be at goal weight by the time they call so that I don't have to wait over a month for the next appointment. I would really like to get this moving and it is very discouraging and hard to stay motivated when I don't don't have dates for my apointments. Even it if was not until April at least I would have something to work towards. Just trying to figure out how I can outsmart the waiting period and I think losing the weight before I see the surgeon might have me on the fast track after that point. At this point I am not even eligible for cancellations because you have to have an appointment to get a cancellation. Ughh..............really frustrated about it all. Maybe this week. Also I am vegetarian so I am tweaking the 1200. Probably not in the best way but it seems to be working. I am not sure I am eating the healthiest as I don't eat meat but I am losing so I must be doing something right. I am eating alot of the same things over and over and lots of water and soup. Soda is down to a couple of times a week. With all the water I don't crave it as much........drinking the crystal light which taste like it should be fattening but apparently isn't!!
  15. I am scottish american by blood and greek american by marriage or divorce whatever suits you!! I lived in Greece for awhile and was married to greek guy so I adopted that culture and country. My daughter is greek to the core so I am greek by default!! LOL AH I can cook some mean greek food but it is all high fat being I am vegetarian...............maybe I will try to revise that to low fat sometime!! The accent is all me. Funny you say that because everyone does but I was born and raised in California except for living in Greece for awhile.

I totally get what you mean about being scared to eat "normal" foods, I told Robin I wanted to wait because I didn't want to be able to just "grab something" - that I was scared of real food LOL, I needed my little containers of puree she let me wait a few days but pretty much talked me through it, I wish I had listened to her better and kept bringing my food in the little containers, before this last fill I was eating 2 cups at a time NO PROBLEM and I was really scared that i had stretched my pouch! When I met with her on friday I told her how worried i was about my volume eating having come right back, it was always my problem before and it looked like it still was, she kept telling me I needed a fill and then I got it and OH so much BETTER! I eat 1/2 cup now and am perfectly happy :w00t: Oh and I had not stretched my pouch I think everyone has to see Robin before 2nd fill, I know Tina did before 1st fill but she's special  she's vegetarian & that's Robin's specialty! You can call and leave her a message anytime & she will call you back, I find it very helpfull to meet with her  I love these little smiley guys they're fun Adult ADD here can you tell?!? Have a great evening all! I did 12 miles today, I SO love that my body is working like it's supposed to again! OH yeah, constipation, very common and a big problem for me, I have to have no cheese, benefiber (which makes me gassy), fiber one cereal (which robin cut out) and salads WAY before I was supposed to. Also that new oceanspray diet cranberry-pomogranate juice, a whole bottle a day! 5 cals per serving so that's all good. And a lot of water, decaf coffee, hot water to drink in the AM and LOTS and LOTS of walking, it "motivates" me if you know what i mean! I hope that helps, goodnight! Riley

Found a yummy recipe that i want to try i though i would share. You can make it very adaptable by switching up the ingredients for vegetarians, or your food tolerance or preferences. http://afterthesleeve.blogspot.com/2012/09/80-calorie-southwest-taquitos.html?m=1

LOL my BF caught a pic of me while talking a pic of his food ( I'm rubbing off on him ๐Ÿ˜…) Hard to see but : All vegetarian meal collaboration ๐Ÿ‘ BF heated convenience boxed foods / I customized them ๐Ÿ˜- partially homemade eggplant parmesan (Trader Joe's), jazzed up Birdseye protein vegetable mix, crispy fish fillets, homemade cornbread+protein I look miserable because I was ๐Ÿ˜… - headache from weather- snowing/ very cold/ etc.

I was a vegetarian for a LONG time so Iโ€™m used to substitutes. These subs are definitely upgrades to the old fake meats. They are even using beets for color and iron for flavor in some. I never really eat anything straight (that I havenโ€™t seasoned while cooking) but I think the taste (and to a lesser extent texture) of these new burgers are close enough to make you question if itโ€™s genuine meat or not.

Handmade Vegetarian eggrolls at the request of *someone* lol These things are massive because I'm lazy and didn't want to make 27384826385 of them that come in the pack. So I used two sheets per roll and stuffed them with about a cup of sauteed cabbage/carrot mix each. I pan fried them in a lightly oil skillet. No deep frying necessary. Success. I guesstimate they are around 200-300 cals each. Of course I tried one and it almost took me out of the game. Lol I had to split it between Iunch and dinner. The person I made it for could only eat one (with a bowl of homemade vegetarian Tonkotsu ramen) so they maybe big for regular gastro-anatomy folks too I could see these being stuffed with tons of great fillings.
  22. Ok so how does Dr. Baggs know that we are all friends? And the whole group fill thing?? Hmmm.................... I think Candy is also on the 25th right?? Hey girls I have a retirement party on Tuesday at the same time. Get this across the street................I might try to do both just go and leave the first one and than come over the Mimi's..........it is someone I have worked with for seven years. Anyway I had the funnel feeling for the first two weeks. Not anymore. Seriously I am eating good things but probably to much........went down to two meals a day to try and lose. I am glad to hear Robin is not upset. I have only lost 12 pounds and I am doing everything and now eating less............... What about the vegetarian stuff Riley did you ask? Also how much is in your band now!!

6Th sounds good Tina, since you pioneered the date does the 6th work for everyone? I know we do need to have lunch. What is your schedule like for tuesday? There is a great Thai place on Bradshaw and I know they have Vegetarian menu. Let me know. Keep up with two day streak, it gets easier after the third day. I am going to start the 5 day test. But I still have restriction.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

So how did you like the Zumba class? Crazy, huh? Everytime someone starts to exercise an angel gets her wings.....or something like that. It just does my heart so good to see folks ramping up their exercise even just a little bit at a time. Just remember that the scale is not necessarily your friend anymore! For example, yesterday I wore some pants that I forgot I had...I bought them in early June for a trip we took. I weighed 7# more than I do today. 7 measley pounds. I put them on yesterday and they were absolutely falling off of me...at least a size and a half too big. The scale is NOT reflecting my progress accurately! MSJEN - You remember that too! Sara -- why in the world did I think it was your SON who was injured??? I'm so sorry I misunderstood -- it's your husband!! I probably would have just broke down and cried if my FIL said that to me....I'm SO sensitive about that subject!! One thing I've noticed about my aging mother is that suddenly she has become downright RUDE sometimes and that is SO unlike her...she's always been so gracious it's like I don't even know her! I know it's hurtful, but just try to remember that it's a factor of his age....he probably doesn't even remember what you looked like 6 months ago!! DUH! And you are absolutely right about being glad you didn't have restriction while in Mexico....stress most definitely affects your band and it would have been disasterous if you hadn't been able to eat and keep YOUR strength up! OMG that would have been bad. So the angels were watching out for you in that way. Thanks for posting....I've been thinking of you. Pamela -- Your bed is downright LUSCIOUS!! Ya'll did a great job. I had my closet done last summer because it is too small and I also needed a cabinet and drawers for the jewelry I make. I couldn't believe how they actually gave me a cabinet and 5 drawers, a shelf unit for my shoes AND MORE rod space than I had before. It's like a miracle and I'm so glad I had it done! Thanks for the feedback, Kat. I just have to 'pay back' for all the help people like you gave to me when I was new ....and scared! I dont have the patience like you do, but like you said, I just let them know someone is listening...and I shoot from the hip. :woot: Are you still feeling blue about your job...or did that go away along with TOM? LOL :woot: Damn hormones. I've got the day off again today. Going to the gym, bookstore (for a strength training book  ), walmart, the bead store (my favorite place), etc. Oh, NSV last night.... my 17 yr old son wanted to come for a visit (he lives with his dad) and bring his 3 friends. They're all so cute. Anyway, I asked if they were hungry, knowing how the girls eat like birds and probably hadn't had dinner. The two girls are both vegetarian () and so I just started hauling out all the snack foods I had....and I was SO PROUD of myself that it was all healthy foods!! Granola, watermelon, cherries, hummus, whole wheat pita chips, cherry tomatoes, apple chips, cheese and lite cranberry juice to drink. They were in heaven! Bad news is now I have to go back to the store today!! LOL
  25. I'm a pescatarian (vegetarian that eats seafood) so my only protein that is animal based has to be seafood. I just had the Trader Joe's cajun salmon for lunch and I am in love! Hands down the best salmon I have ever eaten. It's the small things that excite me!!!! :)
